One simple interpretation could be strangers colliding in the same place, all unknowingly linked by having been destroyed by failed experiences, who however can help each other by sharing them, learning to ask for help as a strength (and turning) point and never weakness. Another could be seeing it as a metaphor where all the people who determined the drift and shipwreck of a love story, find themselves in a sort of stand-by, or a suspended place (a limbo-island/beach) where you can close yourself in your pain, to face it and then return back to the sea stronger. But there are also other meanings, as you perfectly understood, much more universal, current and profound. It can be read in various ways.
