    Thank you Todd for helping me understand the mechanisms of oven door hinges. After cleaning the oven, I had trouble closing the door. In my attempt to fix it, I got the oven door off and noticed that one hinge was locked and the other was unlocked. After much wasted time trying to unlock one of the hinges, it was your last step of re-installing the door and opening it slightly wider than usual that worked to finally released the locked hinge (using the weight of the oven door as you showed earlier). For anyone with the same issue, they were Nuova Star oven door hinges or look like FXLY door hinges as seen on Amazon.

    Todd, Thanks for the making the world a better place! I bought a 2005 Dacor oven for $150 off Facebook Marketplace, bought two hinges for $120 on Amazon and now the oven looks new and the door is perfectly aligned and tight. Thanks again for showing me the path to a simple fix. Also, the new hinges were not a perfect fit to the old screws. I had to drill out the hole ever so slightly to make the screw fit. Not too much trouble and looking forward to using this great oven for years to come.

    My door just stopped closing all the way. Stuck out maybe half an inch. This fixed it. One tip for someone trying: Tod makes it look easy to use the pliers to load the spring. (Around 9:42) Those suckers are strong! Best to get a helper to hold the door down while you use both hands to pull it down. Thanks Todd, this saved me at least $100 bucks or more.

      Matt I agree. Those hinge springs are strong and Todd made it look easy. I found it difficult with a pair of pliers and ended up using a two foot long piece of 1" diameter PVC pipe slipped over the end where Todd used his pliers. Leverage made it easy!

    Todd, thank you for sharing. Your video made this an easy repair. You must be a lot stronger...I could not get much movement with pliers and slipped a 2 foot piece of 1" diameter over the end and leverage made it easy. Thank you again!

    After a loud "bang", our single door Dacor oven will fall open if not supported beyond a few inches. This Dacor, model W305, probably dates to the early 90's. We continue to use the oven because it closes tightly, but it is dangerous for an unsuspecting person to open the door especially when hot. After viewing your video, I am game to try a fix. Much thanks.

    Hey Todd, do you recommend Dacor as a brand from a maintenance/reliability standing? I am looking at picking up a used double, but have no experience with their brand. Thanks

      hit or miss on used stuff. dacor parts are generally more expensive. if it looks clean, and works ok, id probably give it a go, if i were in the market. but if it needs, door hinges, or glass it may have run most of its course on the current relay board, and cooling fan, so plan on buying some parts if thats the case.

      @@toddolsen995 good to know, I think it may be a 99, and doors didn't looks like they were closing tight, so will need hinges atleast. I appreciate the advice, your videos gave me a better grasp too

    Hi I just bought at market places dacor oven and shows F1 any ideas what’s the fix ?

    • @toddolsen995
      @toddolsen995  4 года назад

      I'm not familiar with market places, but the F1 error code refers to a watchdog circuit in the programming. Basically turn the power off at the breaker for several minutes, then turn back on. If the code comes back dacor recommends replacing the oven control board. It could be a number of issues within the wiring though. I've seen damaged wiring short circuit to the cabinet and create this type of issue. That being said, I would be pulling the unit apart, and checking all wiring before ordering any parts.

    What is the part # for the set oh hinges?

    • @toddolsen995
      @toddolsen995  3 года назад

      please call the part supplier that you decide to purchase products from, and they will do the lookup. Theres too many cross references, model numbers, and hinge variations for me to be looking into.

    I have a Dacor built in column fridge and separate freezer. The fridge has failed three times in three years! Had to throw out all my food three times! Dacor refuses to replace and is a complete nightmare to deal with! I would never buy this unit again. What are you to do when it lasts only 6 months after last repair before quitting. I would have ripped it out already if I did have to buy both units and rebuild the space for other units! DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE AND FREEZER UNITS!

      If it's the unit I'm thinking of, it is built by Samsung. In my opinion most Korean refrigerator platforms are not very good. Really depends on what the failure is. Most manufacturers have a 1 year warranty, after that it's money out of your pocket.
