    Great Video! Always enjoy the extra information. I purchased an RX100m3 when it first released while my buddy went with the a6000. We use them mostly for video. My RX100m3 performed better than his at first with the Zeiss lense and xavc-s codec. After the a6000 update and a few prime lenses later, my buddies a6000 started to outperform my camera. I'm still happy with my RX100m3 since it is much smaller. I find myself carrying it with me almost everywhere I go, either in my jacket pocket or backpack. My buddy always has to "prepare" to bring his camera because he needs to decide which lenses to bring and deal with transporting multiple parts. The a6000 a bit bigger, but after adding on some nice glass, that becomes a significantly bigger camera and something you just won't "whip out". The front facing screen on the RX100m3 is just amazing for vlog style video which is mainly what I do as well. The combination of convenience, quality, and flipable screen makes for an incredible package with the RX. I'm planning on picking up the a6300, but i'll see what the GH5 has to offer first!

    One minor aspect you may have overlooked is that the RX100IV has much better HFR capabilities. It is able to take up to 1000fps (at a lower resolution) vs 120fps. Take note of that if it is your priority function.

    For those in Australia, these do not compare in price. RX100IV is about $1,200 shipped, A6300 is $1,600 shipped + you need glass. Was leaning towards a A6300 but all these reviews have me thinking it's too expensive unless you will be doing video a lot (then get a video camera?) and eventually the price will reduce. Which makes, for a pocket camera priority, the RX100IV a great choice....I think so far.

    Very informative video. Throwing my two cents in on why I decided to go RX100; I'm coming from an entry level M4/3 background with adapted vintage glass, played around with a 6D with a very nice modern standard zoom the other day and decided it was most definitely time to get a better camera. I don't do too much freelance work, so I'm betting that the RX100 will be the swiss army knife for my needs , and I'll just grab an A7 or 5D on the rent on the rare opportunity to do something special. 4K video allows me to downscale to 1080 for 4:4:4, high speed capability is very nice, alongside other pros of both systems. I do understand that I throw away interchangeable lenses, uninterrupted 4K, some low light, a better EVF, faster AF, mic slot, and a hotshoe, but I figure that I will be able to at least make do with optical sync'd flash and post-audio sync (which I'm used to by now on the entry 4/3 system). For those that have the future budget for lenses, def go A6300 though. I will keep watching and reading on optics though hehe, see where I go in the future :D

    I have both cameras. They are both excellent, although I would say that Sony's kit lens is leagues behind the rx100 series Zeiss glass. An equivalent lens for the 6300 runs near 1000 dollars and increases the size and weight significantly. I find myself using the RX100 a lot more because of it's compact size and I cringe carrying around my savings account through the forest. The best camera is the one that you have with you. If you're looking for professional quality, and making large prints then the 6300 all day. But if you just want killer Instagram and RUclips content, the RX100 iv is plenty imo.

      I have the A6300. It does overheat when you shoot continuous 4K video and I have the latest firmware etc. Having read around the issue, the issue seems to be the Bionz X processor when under maximum load and there not being sufficient cooling. The solutions I've seen online are people building cages around the camera to dissipate heat but that's not feasible for the way that I use the camera.

    So is the RX 100 IV is superior until you spend twice as much on an a6300 with a Zeiss lens?

    • @soys4uc3
      @soys4uc3 7 лет назад +4

      Yep. Even if a user can afford lens, there isn't much to choose from to do for 24-70. And if there was, that's doubling the size. Misses the whole point of being small and light weight. Whoever uses the interchangeable system will definitely need a larger bag to make it useful.

    • @AudioAftershock
      @AudioAftershock 7 лет назад +8

      I just sold my A6300 to soon buy the RX100 V due to this exact reason, you need to sink a fortune into the camera and its lenses to get the best pictures. And going off what Mr. Nguyen said, using any lens but the 'okay' pancake kit lens doubles (or triples) the size of the camera to where you're basically holding a mirrorless DLSR. There's no mid range lenses, either you spend a fortune for very good glass or you spend a few hundred on 'good enough' glass. There's a limited selection of lenses available. My Nikon DSLR has all the lenses I could need, but I couldn't find many quality lenses that cost more than the A6300 itself.

    • @xradrd
      @xradrd 6 лет назад +1

      AudioAftershock you hit the nail on the spot!!! The lack of decent lenses for the 6300-6500 forces you to buy super expensive lenses over 2k is just insane. This smaller camera with the 1.8 aperture makes it so much more appealing.

    Sir i only have budget to buy either rx100 v or a6300 with kit lens only because purchasing lens adds another $600-700 thats beyond my budget. So kindly suggest which one is better. Do a comparison video for that including sample pictures and video. Rx100 v is having good lens and flip up screen but smaller sensor i doubt does it makes good shallow depth of field. How much is creates bokeh? And how it perform in low light... i am not professional but i want a good camera because i am not happy with smartphone cameras creativity. I want to be creative in casual pics. Both of these cameras are at far more expensive for me so i want to make a happy purchase. None of them is available in local stores to try and comes on order so kindly please suggest which is good rx100v or a6300 with kit lens?

    I've had the RX100 IV for about six months and I'm considering getting the A6300. You mentioned 4K video looking better in the A6300. As someone reluctant to shoot at 24fps I wondered about the 4K quality on the A6300 at 30fps with bixel binning (e.g. not the 'Super 35' 24p mode without pixel binning) versus the RX100 IV at 30fps. Does the A6300 still outshine the RX100 IV at 4K image quality at 30fps?

      If you are looking for other lenses did you consider vintage manual lenses that can be adapted for E-mount? It's a good and affordable alternative to native lenses. Adds versatility to your digital camera.

    Is the RX100IV limited to 5 minutes 4K total or is it 5 minutes, let the camera cool down, another 5 minutes? I usually film short little 30 second clips in 4K for school and put them together but if I can only get 10, 30 second clips I'd be a little disappointed...

    • @moniquelimin

      You get 5 minutes of 4k footage, then stop recording, then start recording another 5min right after, and so on. I have the RX100 IV, and I also only usually film multiple short clips. Hitting 3mins for me is very rare so the rx100iv is way more than enough for my needs :) I've had it for a year now and it has never overheated even when I did try to film the max 5min.

    After using the RX100IV for about a year, I cannot overstate how valuable it is to have a camera that fits into my jeans and pants. I can literally throw it in my pocket and hop on my bike without worry or discomfort. Adding that it's a virtually silent shooter, completely silent with electronic shutter activated, makes this camera perfect for food blogging and street photography. It does seem to struggle a bit with clarity in wider shots, such as landscapes which begs the question: how does the RX100IV compare to the RX1RII? Among the obvious comparisons, are they equally pocketable and silent? Lastly, when should we expect the RX100V and where will it stand?
