Enjoyed the series and especially the addition of the Pegdens including Michael Aldridge as Seymour the BIL. Gordon Wharmby was very charming in the character of Wesley and more than held his own against the more seasoned players. There was great chemistry and warmth among the cast.
Brilliant memories, thanks. Unfortunately, LOTSW disappeared off New Zealand TV, probably sometime in the '90's and we never got the chance to see the final years worth of series.
It was definitely on Prime in the very early 2000's, as I remember watching it as a small child, but it was behind as Compo was still in it (though Frank Thornton was there). It then switched to UKTV on Sky for the rest of it's run here.
Another brilliant episode Leigh. Much new info' brought to the fore. Regulation Hi- vis jacket at Auntie scrap yard! How times change. You're on my favourites list, keep them coming please. ❤
The ladies' coffee hour was one of the best additions to the show, especially after Compo's death it gave solid continuity to the end. I loved Edie always rolling her eyes at Glenda's naivety even though it was probably Edie who'd wrapped her in cotton wool in the first place.
Hi Leigh, I absolutly love your channel, being a massive "Summer Wine" fan myself. All the aditional facts which I never new are fasinating. But theres just one fact that I know first hand that was wrong (but no big deal) and that is that Fred Dibnah is not a yorkshire man but a Lacastrian. Being from Bolton (my home town) Keep up the fabulous work, it's brilliant. Chris.
Still watching your outstanding content from thy bottom of thy earth 👏👏👏👏👏, love em all, keep up thy stellar work, cheers🍺🍺🍻🍻🍻🍻, and much love from a chilly 🥶🥶🥶new🥝🥝🥝zealand 👍👍👍
I see Edie kinder, gentler than portrayed. Love your vids. Would enjoy more info about personal interests of these marvelous actors. The writers were genius. Thank you.
@upstagedbyadog speaking of rain, I notice the last few series seemed perpetually sunny compared to the earliest series where Blamire was always leading them through cloudy rain. I presume the last few series were more studio-filmed.
@@Sawrattan Hi Sawrattan! I'd have to go through loads of old documents for evidence, but most of the location filming was September to October, so you do get sunny - but still cold - days! It's likely that they got lucky with the weather for the outdoor locations.
I had missed that - that does seem to imply there was at least one other sister. When they grew up in the 30's families were generally much larger that nowadays.
I don't seem to have noticed mention of "Meet the Wife" where Edie's character was already well developed. Those of a certain age will remember Thora Hird playing opposite Freddie Frinton in the hugely popular BBC comedy series.
Many of the actors in Summer Wine had a vast background in radio, tv, theatre and films. If I included any more I would just be reading a long list of programme titles!
Yeah I saw Wesley on a bus as a extra in last of the summer wine and I didn’t know that was Wesley washing the car outside Sids cafe in bicycle made for 3 episode Wow 😮
Ah Barrys Talbot, Have you noticed in episode 4 of series 19, A Double for Howard, theres a scene with Howard under a car with Wesley, disturbing Wesley fixing it, its a Talbot Sunbeam I think, the next scene is Barry in the same car ! Then the following scene its back to Wesley fixing the Sunbeam. After this theres a fun scene in the supermarket with Marina and some entertaining cereal box shuffling.
I recall when watching `Crossroads` character Benny, going for a spanner and not seen again for a couple of years. Did Barry go in search of one for Wesley and got `side-tracked` for Six Seasons?
Barry was seen in December 1990, in "Barry's Christmas" (after series 12) perhaps he was embarrassed about getting so drunk! He returned in December 1996 for "Extra! Extra!" in time to buy Glenda a birthday present! He must have been trying really hard at work to get his promotion!
Hey Leigh i just watched getting Barry higher in the world I noticed that Barry white car looked familiar to Elizabeth white car in keeping up appearances
Hi Leigh I love the Pegden family Wesley so cool loves cars and Glenda is sweet and nice the way Edie said Pegden residences lady of the house speaking lol 🤣just be for keeping up appearances started in 1990 bouquet residences lady of house speaking lol 🤣
Whilst Gordon Wharmby did have a passing resemblance to Fred Dibnah, there's a small mistake. Fred Dibnah was born and bred in Bolton. That makes him Lancashire and as you quite correctly observed how straight to the point Fred was, I'm sure he would told you quite firmly of your mistake! 😂😂
I never cared for Seymour, lol. Three favorite Glenda quotes: the ladies complain about men who never know when to stop their Do-it-Yourself projects. Glenda replies "My Barry does it himself, and HE knows when to stop" (prompting Edie to pull an embarrassing grimace, as if she got the sexual reference). In "Jurassic No Parking" she tells Barry to get rid of his prize, a huge plush dinosaur - "I will NOT be known as 'Her with the Dinosaur' ". Once Barry tries ironing (which he does badly) to learn to cope with stress - he thinks it will help him to become a manager. Glenda tells him "You work for a huge corporation, you're bound to be exposed to some daft ideas!" I also remember an episode where Marina and Glenda bond by giving each other wardrobe suggestions - Marina is tired of being looked-down on for her short skirts, and Glenda wants to look sexier for Barry.

I love Last of the Summer Wine. It was a great British Comedy and all of the actors were brilliant. God bless them all.
One of the many pleasures of RUclips! Great channel and long may it continue. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, Malcolm!
That was excellent. To be honest I did shed a few tears. Many thanks for posting.
Brilliant series, looking forward to the next, nice to watch something interesting 👍👍👍

Thanks Barry. you will have to find the DVD box sets online!

It gave the ladies opportunity to catch up on gossip - particularly useful for them to keep tabs on what the men were doing!

I think the script says "Northerner" but I think I was probably reading too far ahead and my brain guessed what to say!
Oh I just love these videos. Cheers!

Nice video about the Pegdens Barry and Glenda are funny and I love Wesley and Edie and posh Edie Wesley can you come in for a minute please 🤣
Just lovely, thank you
Hi, thanks, you're welcome ...
Excellent video. Great to hear the back story of some of those wonderful actors.
Thank you, pleased you enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Love your series
Hey Leigh I love the way Edie says we go in my car lol 🤣 the lady’s reactions when Edie says we go in my car is funny lol 🤣
Even if the ladies do look apprehensive, no one can say 'no' to Edie!!
If ever I am able to visit the UK, These are the places I'd visit. LOTSW sites ♥️🇦🇺
Hi Celeste! you will not be disappointed, but come prepared for rain!

Just a small point: In one episode, Edie refers to Seymour as "...the only boy among all us girls". Which does imply more sisters than just Ros.
I had missed that - that does seem to imply there was at least one other sister. When they grew up in the 30's families were generally much larger that nowadays.

Oh me neither. I'll have to watch that again.
To think he was a painter and decorator considering the mess he made of nora battys kitchen ceiling in one of the episodes .great video thankyou
Well spotted! Mind you - I bet his other customers didn't live near someone with their own Air Raid siren!

Yes, Barry's Talbot magically was being repaired, despite him driving around in it!

Any clues to why actor Mike Grady was absent for so long?@@upstagedbyadog
He was in several TV series, a couple of TV films and a couple of movies in his 6-year break.

Barry was driving a 1978, Austin Morris Maxi; Elizabeth had a 1989 Austin Metro. Same make, different models.
I liked Seymour he was nice 👍

The Pegden family became a catalyst for so many plots and supported lots of others. Great addition to the show!
Is that 4 dam head holmfirth edies home?
Yes!
And I really liked Edie sister Ros she was good and was good friends with Pearl 😊
Roz was a sweetie.

Your title screen says "Pedgen". Ooops!
Bother! I usually copy-and-paste stuff like that :-/
