I have learned everything I know about glass polishing from Mike Phillips! Those rayon pads do last a long time which is good. This process is time consuming so price accordingly because your shoulders will burn a lot!
It is nice seeing Mike on this channel as he has so much knowledge and is a very good teacher!
Mike is a legend.
Thank you for watching and commenting. -Mike Phillips
Thank you for this information, the detail in how you are explaining how to do this is above sufficient and very helpful!

"Im teaching the experience, when you leave here youll know how to do it, its the process im showing you"
This mans an actual certified detailing wizard. Bonafied. Only of his kind
Wow! Thank you very much for the nice comment. -Mike Phillips
I have tried a lot of methods over the years and I honestly think people have this backwards. I use the firmest foam pad i can find and the heaviest cutting compound to correct. Rayon and cerium oxide is just too slow and often does nothing. I only use a rotary because i want pressure and i have found a forced rotation machine wants to skip around too much. No more than 1800 rpms but pressure. It will correct for you and much faster in my experience on who knows how many windshields. I use 1.2 micron cerium oxide and a rayon pad to polish though as it really leaves a clear finish. Yes, be careful of heat but usually your arms will need a break well before you overheat the glass.
Another thing is if it's an SUV don't even try unless you have a very solid base that feels like you're on the ground. It's too physical a job not to so just trust on me that one.
Thanks for watching, commenting and sharing what works for you. -Mike Phillips
Wonderful!!!
Can old windows be completely restored?
Hello car supplies and Mike. It's great to see Mike. I took a course with him a few years ago through Auto geek at Simon's Shine Shop in Chicago and wondered what happened to him because I have not seen him on their site again.
I'm back. -Mike Phillips
Thanks for joining us up in Oconomowoc!
Any time!
I might have to do this myself. Can't find any professional service that lists this service.....very needed service too.
can u use a dual action polisher gg g9
Its pretty funny, years back when i first started my business i bought several polishes a pile of rayon, and never was happy with the results.
On none of the videos i watched, i don't recall it on the back of the bottles either, did i hear or read that it would take an hour. I always went until the polish dried up, wiped it off to check, and chalked it up to just a way to remove water spots. Decided not to offer it as a service and closed the book on glass.
Of course mike would be the guy to teach me so much in just a few short minutes. Now im going to take a crack at glass again! Thanks mike luckily i own a couple rear wiper cars that have very very heavy wiper marks. Im excited to see how it works out!
Polishing glass is no joke
thanks mike .the job I don't like doing is removing scratches or heavy water spot from glasses but I can see you enjoy doing it.
can't we have chemicals that will make the job easier to do
Might seem counter to what you read but try a very firm foam pad and the heaviest cutting compound you have. Always a rotary and not too fast but lots of pressure. 15-1800 rpm. Cerium oxide is just too slow and I've watched people go at it for an hour and not make any progress in correcting. With the hard foam and a heavy cut you will correct and you've probably already got the materials. I've tried everything and to me the hard foam pad is absolutely critical. Rayon pads will polish glass nicely but they don't want to cut a whole lot. I finish with 1.2 micron cerium oxide and a rayon but if I need to correct I'd never use it.
@@user-ci2xg7rq5y Hey do you have a link of the products you use for cutting and polishing?
I live in Palm Springs California, we have continuous sand storms wings very strong which sometimes reach over 75 miles per hour, the sand hits the windshields of the cars very hard scratching making millions of little dots on the glass. My question is, do you thing that with this system I can remove the bite of the small pebbles that leave traces on my windshield?
I dont think you can remove chips this this process. PPF might be useful to help protect your new windshield
I have some light swirl marks from washing the car and can't find any detail shop who knows how to polish glass.
Does a DA polisher work as well or does it have to be a rotary?
To be pedantic a DA is dual action, random orbital and lockable to just rotary. But to answer without being a dick random orbital will work but not very well, rotary all the way
Oh..... I have to buy a rayon pad. Never heard of that before.
Hoping I’ll be able to polish off the Rain X that’s left a hazy residue all over my windshield! Should’ve never put that crap on. They should tell tell you on the bottle that it’s gonna leave a freaking haze.
I used to use RainX back in the 1970s and 1980s. I had a Triumph Spitfire and I remember using RainX on it and then driving through the torrential downpour common in Oregon and RainX always seem to work. I often drove from Albany, Oregon to Seaside, Oregon in the rain and rarely used my wipers.
But to your comment about the RainX being a hazy residue, any quality clearcoat safe compound or polish, with a foam cutting pad, microfiber pad on an orbital polisher, or any foam or wool cutting pad on a rotary should easily remove it and get you back to pure, bare-naked glass.
-Mike Phillips
@@MikePhillips-Dr.Beasleys ok. I will try some mothers compound with my orbital polisher. Thank you.
Someone polished my rear view mirror to get rid of water spots now there are like wavy marks all over it. Any suggestions ?
Polish again with a heavy cut compound and then finish with the finish compound
Actually, the class probably had an hour easily into both sides. -Mike Phillips
Hi I'm going to open a hand car wash in London, To wash a dirty car faster, can I put a little TFR ON bucker THE SHANPOO, OR USE FOAM with TFR?
I thought Mike was with 3D
I believe he used to be but is now with Dr Beasley
I was. Tunch Gorin sold his company to a Private Equity Group and the Private Equity Group (Morgenthaler Private Equity), broke our contract, so I figure if they lie to you once, they'll lie again and I resigned. But I didn't resign until AFTER I taught a 3-day class that over 20 people had signed-up for and paid for and planned their lives around. Now don't see any 3D classes, at least not the type I teach. -Mike Phillips
8min video for a 20 sec job.
He was teaching for 8 mins, but you were still playing in the sandbox & swinging on the swings.
Re-watch this when you get older, & you'll be able to understand what he was talking about as well as the value therein.
2010-2013???? 13 years 🤷🤔
Starting somewhere between 2010-2013 up to present day = 13 years. Did you actually think he meant 2010 to 2013 being roughly 13 yrs?
My car doesn't come with a rear windshield wiper so having the best water beading and protection is good. And using an anti fog product greatt
To much talk...
I fast forward it after 15 seconds of nothing
Too maybe?
Really? It's Mike Phillips thoughh, the knowledge passed through years of experience. Vrg, rotary, glass, technique. Aslong as what he's saying pertains to that. If one was smart theyd listen.
But it's quality talk. If you didn't listen you could've done it yourself instead of having a friend and doing it twice as fast.
As for literally step by step what you have to do, yeah, this video is too long.
But then I came in as a newbie. Do you wanna say what he says is bs? It would be great if you specify, just to make sure.
And yeah - I write long comments, but by the same token, I think it's quality 😉
Too much ignorance from children who don't understand how learning works.
Watching an educational video doesn't mean they jump out of the screen & do everything for you, it means you have to pay attention.......you know, that thing your generation can't do.
to mach talk no work
It definitely was "to mach".
