Great video, I totally agree with you and made the fatal mistake of selling my 964 almost a decade ago with only 52k on it for a mere $25k. A year ago they were $75k for a low mileage car and no doubt they are $100k today. Luckily I fell into a project G body last year and plan on holding it for many years, after which my children will be custodians of the 911. Cheers!
Thank you for the feedback! And yeah my only regret is not getting into aircooled 911’s sooner but I hadn’t gotten the ‘car guy’ bug until 3 years ago so I was already a bit too late for that.
Great video and takeaway message. Seems like the G bodies have also crept up. For a base air-cooled...it seems the 993 is now best buck... but as you said its all crazyyyy
Just bought my 964 mid July in a very rare spec. It’s a car I’m going to keep and enjoy as long as I can. I hope for it to be my forever pleasure car. I was waiting to be sure it was the right moment in my mind to make the purchase, but as the prices kept going up & up & up, I pulled the trigger to not be outpaced financially by the market. I overpayed for it for sure, but indeed I share your point of view. It’s the last years these cars will be somewhat accessible and will cost less than a 997 or 991 (which is crazy to think about).
Welcome to the P-car addiction! Glad to hear you are driving it! I don’t drive mine enough and am torn between “investment” or “enjoyment”. Maybe need to get another one so I can do both...
Luckily for me, I got back into P-Cars in 2012. Struggled to find one and really didn't know what was going on as each and every one I inquired about was taken almost immediately. I eventually found one (1986 repainted in it's original color Guards Red) close by. The prices at that point were about 20k for such car. I later struck a deal and I can tell you I literally stole it!! I still have the car, which is mostly stock except with a few mods.
Yeah it’s at that point now. I settled for a Mercedes 560sl because the air cooled ones 80s 90s ones I wanted are way out of my price range now. It’s annoying but that’s the market I guess.
Don’t give up hope! There’s still some deals out there if you can swing it. I hope they stop going up so they don’t become “collectors toys”. But another hope for these cars is the opportunity of EV conversions. At first that won’t make sense but 70-80% of cars get abandoned when the engines fail. So if cars have a new hope that may lead many to restore bodies and convert them into EV’s. It’s a stretch but an opportunity if you want to buy a cheap body that needs TLC and bring the car to life as either an EV or engined swapped 911.
560SL is a great car, but definitely a different driving experience. As an investment, there are too many, but as a dinner date car or weekend sunny day cruiser the SL is ace. 911 is more of an adrenaline rush, though.
Yeah 914’s are a solid option for I’ll add one to the garage one day but there’s something about the look of a 911 that is just timeless. I’d honestly love to build a safari 914 in the near future though.
Things are starting to change but the aircooled market seems to still be holding at current prices. But interest rates aren’t as good as they used to be. So it’s best to have cash on hand and start looking for deals.
I'm old so I have 2 Resto-mod G body G50 3.4 Pcars backdated and hot rodded-Singer inspired me but I still want a 992 GT3. You better learn how to wrench they are hand built and require extensive knowledge to sort.
Great perspective. I am an enthusiast with an '84 that I have owned and loved for 22 years.
I’ve owned a 914 for ten months and love it. Now I’m getting an 84 911 Carrera from my mechanic, so pumped.
Great video Tanner! I gotta get working harder so I can get a G body 911 soon! 💪🏻
I’ll help you shop when you’re ready! 😉
Great commentary. Imo you are 100% correct. Cheers fellow enthusiast. -From your fellow ‘driver’ quality ‘85 amigo

Thanks great thoughts!
I managed to buy a beautiful turn key 1985 gaurds red coupe 12 years ago for 15k. An hour away from my house too! Glad I did to say the least.

Preserving the car and not enjoying it is like not fvcking your girlfriend so she can be ready for the next guy 💀

@@TannerSeymour I was thinking on selling my 560sl and getting a loan, but I’ll try and keep looking.

Just get a 914. They are great and super fun. 911 steering rack. Mid engine. And still under 40k. Most under 35k. They are going up though.

Great info.. how about now? November 2023???? Please advise 🙏

It's ok to shame them... They kinda ruin the market.
lol
The 911 is the poor mans 928. Look it up.
I actually did and you're not wrong haha. Maybe we should do a video with a 928...
Do not agree. 911 prices are a hype. 911's are not scarce. Like any hype, eventually the 911 hype will go away and prices will drop
Dont save in cash, save in bitcoin, you will have your car in 2025.
@classlessbozo317 and your bitcoin dealer gets his car today?!?!?!?!?
