Hi Phily, hi Daniel. I'd love to see you do a 'deep dive' into the stats. How fit you are the beginning, a look at the training block in detail, and then the progression through the block.
Would love a video on the “hours you aren’t training” (ie the “boring” stuff that actually makes pro athletes that much better than us who have to run around work/school etc!)
Daniel keeps you honest. “You didn’t enjoy all of them”. 😂 I’m so happy you’re promoting sunscreen use. So much misinformation out there! What people don’t realize is that sun damage is cumulative over time. You don’t realize you have sun damage until it’s too late. That drive from Phoenix to Flagg can be very annoying.
So glad you mention the importance of sun protection in your videos 💕 being in my 40s I had been suffering from skin cancer for the past 9 months. I have had three operations on my face - not a pleasant memory, at all! So, people: wear sunscreen! 🙏🏻
What an amazing experience to run at Altitude for an extended period. You look really pumped for your next training block. Enjoy every moment. More about the specifics of Threshold training and training for adaptations for running in heat would be interesting, please. 👍
I just wanted to commend you Phily on how you structure these videos in such a unique and creative way so that it's both a vlog and also a recap at different points throughout the video. Keeps things interesting! Love your videos
Would’ve loved to hear a little something about ON, also your description still has New Balance stuff. Just a heads up. So excited for you, keep it up!!
I specifically planned a visit to a friend of mine in Berlin for the marathon weekend. But now I am SO SO much more excited, knowing that I'll get to see you and cheer you on as well!!! 🤩 Enjoy your time in Flagstaff 🎉
Congratulations on what we hope are in order, for your new sponsorship from On, and Flagstaff sounds like an amazing place to start a new chapter😊were hoping we'd be back as usual at The Great South Run this year, as my better half wants to break 1 hr 10 mins and i'd be able to cheer her and many others like yourself on somewhere on route, normally I like the 10K spot, good place to watch🏃♀
Be sure to take good care of that niggle!!!! I have ignored my niggly Achilles and now it is a real problem. So glad to see you do so well on the track and look forward to the continued videos!
Berlin!! I’m also running Berlin this fall and am really excited about it. Looking forward to following your training. Hopefully we both run some new and fast PRs!!
Berlin is absolutely great, as you already know from the half marathon in april! Very flat, great crowds... I ran Berlin Marathon last year for the 1st time and I loved the whole atmosphere of this world major! (I highly recommend going to the afterparty sunday evening, 20.00 at Metropol too, last year Eliud Kipchoge and other elites came dancing on the stage :D !). I am running Berlin again this year, good luck with your training block, I am sure you will do great!!
I just find Philly a compelling narrator…at 65 with a knee replacement I won’t be running any marathons but the videography and story telling is next level…….and Daniel’s pancake recipe please. ( Also nice to see a new brand has recognised your value) Have fun in Flagstaff!
Have the best time in Flag! Something you did last time which I really loved was the other stuff you got up to in your downtime whilst not training - It’s really interesting to see the friends you hang out with, walks, local sights etc. - We’d love to visit that area as tourists one day!
🎉 yes Phily! Mein Vorbild bei meinem liebsten Marathon. Fast etwas schade, dass ich selbst laufe und dich nicht sehen kann ❤ You will love the 50. BMW Berlin Marathon ❤🎉
Well done with your track season! Bring on marathon season! I guessed it was Berlin when you started talking marathons in 10 weeks ish. My friend is also running at Berlin. She’ll be closer to 3:30 or 4 hours I think but she’ll be epic. She’s just incredible! I was at the finish line when she ran the Copenhagen marathon earlier this year and she’s just epic!
It would be great to see more videos related to your daily routine. I started running a few months ago thanks to your videos and I find it very inspiring to see what you do day by day to pursue your goals and face the challenges of everyday life.
I love your channel and videos you make! As for some more suggestions, I personally love the full day of eating and training videos. Also I’d love more videos on strength training and how to avoid injury as well!
Wanna see hill workouts, and long runs as well. That'd be good. A prep video for how you prepare for a long run with diet and chaff prevention and hydration and whatnot would be cool
Hi Philly. Loving your videos. Looking forward to seeing your training and life while in Flagstaff. I see you have a new Sponsor! Can you tell us about it in part of your future video?
With your coaches hat on, how you plan a newer runners training programme for a half or full marathon. You got anyone else coming out to join up with your camp,, great vibe with the girls last time.
Hi Phily and Daniel, I'm in Berlin too so I start to train for it Right now... it will be impossible to meet you but will be funny to think I'm running just after you... well just, or 10 or 50 min or two hours later... ;) another inspiration for such a great race!!! of course I'd love to know about your week train, your evo during the weeks... and more and more.
Must be exciting and somewhat nerve wracking to share the news of partnerships and training plans! Congrats! Ideas??? How about another rapid fire Q&A? How about interview a fellow elite(s) in Flagstaff or coach(es)? How about an Olympics top picks for the distance events? How about Daniel cooks something from a different country at the Olympics and document gold, silver, bronze at the end?
I’m so jealous! Sure, I’m jealous of you racing Berlin, but I’m equally as jealous of the 10 weeks you get to spend in Flagstaff! Northern Arizona is truly a gem. Will you be crossing paths or sharing any workouts with any of the local clubs/teams (like NAZ Elite or any NAU prospects)? It’d be great to see you and Daniel show up to the famous Bagel Run one of the weeks since it’s such a big part of the local running community. Looking forward to the training series! I’ll be training for 10k while you’re training for Marathon, but then I’ll be focusing on Houston Full in January!
Would love a video review of some of your new On kit & shoes! I'd buy something from them, especially if it helps support you, but I'm not familiar with any of their stuff.
I would like to see Daniel do some research on 'school of wok' and cook up a storm. LOL That would be cool but really, how exciting, Flagstaff training and off to Berlin marathon. Love and respect to you both.
Wow. Ben Felton, Michael Ko, the Believe in the Run folks, and you are going to be at Berlin. You know who else is going to be at Berlin? Me! I hope I see you.
Love following along on the journey (and the grind)! Could you do a video with the exercises you're doing post the visit with your physio to address your Achilles niggle? I find the strength, pre-hab, and re-hab training pro runners do fascinating and not covered enough! BTW - absolutely sold me on Skin + Me and wanted to try them out but they don't ship the States yet :*(
Hey :) love your videos and i'm actually learning something from them! :D But one question: How do you fuel for these early morning runs? Because that's what i really struggle with.
Good luck with the training camp Phily, I'm excited for you! Are any road races 'for fun' part of the training, or will you be training with other athletes?
Berlin is SO flat that I bridled in outrage when the course dipped under a railway line. That flat. Can be warm tho. Will they still say, "Do not forget to say goodbye to your family and friends"? 😮
Great video, looking forward to following your progress at the camp. Would love to hear more about how you set up these camps. Could a "hobby runner" like myself ever go to somewhere like Flagstaff for a camp? Are there options to connect for non elites to experience training, coaching etc.?
Enjoy Flagstaff! I would love to know how you balance what your training plan says you should do, with how you feel on a certain day. I often struggle with this, and I think I end up pushing too hard at the wrong times!
Would like to know how many athletes that are there with you, training etc. And you could make some videos about your training passes with them. You've done it in the past, but as you say, a training camp is really an alien thing to us normies :)
I would like to know how you arrange the altitude training, how much it costs and who pays for it. Is it just something as simple as renting a house out there or is there more to it? Also, would you have benefited from starting your marathon training in the uk first before training at altitude?
How you keep the motivation. I’m starting from scratch with fitness and rock bottom and I’m aiming for a road marathon and also an ultra trail marathon. 😬😬😬😬😬
Octopuses have a brain distributed across their whole body. Octopuses have tentacles through which this brain extends. Therefore, Octopuses have menticals 🐙
Hi Philly, quick question. Although it's only jet-lag getting you up early at the moment, why wouldn't you choose to get up early to avoid the heat once you've settled in? Just go to bed a little earlier to get the rest? Or is that routine too tricky to get into?
Left field question: how do you find driving on the right side of the road in the USA? I am travelling there for the 1st time soon and not sure whether I should rent a car or not. How do you find it?
How do you train at altitude without loosing your low altitude fitness. I feel like you would ideally do something to maintain sealevel performance since you will be up there so long. Also how do you avoid the boredom of running the same routes all the time.
The point of high altitude training is to improve lower altitude fitness. Training in area with less oxygen increases the ability to carry more oxygen in the bloody. Once you go back to sea level, with all the extra oxygen. More oxygen and more ability to carry more oxygen in the blood= Super human speed and endurance(Relatively speaking)
@@kevinscott4938 Yes that is the point. But the saying is train at sea level and live at altitude. That will maximize red blood cells and muscles. Never tried it myself. I did train at sea level and race at altitude once and that was a big mistake.
@@kevinpeterman7127 it’s more than train a sea level live at altitude. Iten in Kenya is a factory of marathon runners where they live and train and altitude and when they race at sea level. Ouch racing at altitude without any acclimatisation must have been a shock to the system. Hopefully not a long one.
Hi Phily, hi Daniel. I'd love to see you do a 'deep dive' into the stats. How fit you are the beginning, a look at the training block in detail, and then the progression through the block.
Agreed!
Would love a video on the “hours you aren’t training” (ie the “boring” stuff that actually makes pro athletes that much better than us who have to run around work/school etc!)
We’re so ON
Good to see you're On it. On the topic of things we'd love to see. An episode On warm up routines and activations would be brilliamt.
Sun damage is from insufficient animal based fats. Our ancestors never burned because of their natural diet and regular exposure.
So glad you mention the importance of sun protection in your videos 💕 being in my 40s I had been suffering from skin cancer for the past 9 months. I have had three operations on my face - not a pleasant memory, at all! So, people: wear sunscreen! 🙏🏻
Video on "Cooking with Daniel" 😎

I ran Berlin last year and it was also my first major. I loved it and PR'd by 15 minutes. You gonna crush!!

Love love love all your training camp vids! Week in the life training vids are always my favs, and of course your Q/A tradition. Have SO much fun!
Winning is not only fun for you, but us fans love to watch your successes too. I love your race videos, especially when Daniel yells “Go On Phily!”
I specifically planned a visit to a friend of mine in Berlin for the marathon weekend. But now I am SO SO much more excited, knowing that I'll get to see you and cheer you on as well!!! 🤩

The best coffee in Flag is at Macy’s European Cafe. The pastries are killer, too. ❤
Your channel has helped me grow as a high school runner and overcome injuries. Keep making great videos like this ❤
I love the training camp/high-altitude episodes. Looking forward to the next block of your training =D
I absolutely love Flagstaff such an amazing part of the world.

Phily, I'm so excited that you're also running Berlin 🎉
We'll be having so much fun. I'll just finish about 3 hours later 😂
Omg cannot believe you’re going to run Berlin, as I am doing it as well! So exciting! 🤩

There’s a fun small race called Groovin’ in the Aspens I was going to run in August. There’s a 5k, 10k, and 18k.

I am running Berlin too!!! 🇩🇪🔥🔥🔥
Show us an On gear haul!
I never wanted to do that again is so relatable! Especially after 1500 😂
Tremendous results. Makes the rest of use mere mortals feel like we have wasted our running lives for nothing, lol
