flying in a couple weeks and i tend to get bad panic attacks on flights, first time flying alone since i was like 7... watching this helped sooth my anxieties a little bit, some exposure therapy haha

11:48, ive been on planes at least 20 times, but every time they turn an inch i start panicking to my mom thinking its flipping over, and seeing this, i immediately thought "HELL...NO"

I do not. I live in Joplin, Missouri. Tulsa just happens to be the closest “bigger” airport. I actually live right in the middle of about five airports. Joplin is closest at about 20 minutes away. But, Tulsa, Springfield, Northwest Arkansas, Kansas City, and Wichita are all within driving distance. Springfield, Northwest Arkansas, and Tulsa are all roughly 1 to 2 hour drives. Kansas City and Wichita are closer to 3 hours.

No, the tornado hadn't fully formed when it went over where I live. I actually live west of Joplin, and the super cell hadn't fully formed yet. The tornado formed and touched down about 10 miles past my house. I will say, that I've never seen the sky like that before or again.

It takes nothing away from the video but just out of curiosity: what is the small, light blue dot appearing on the inboard portion of the wing just after turning final?
That is the sun reflecting off the lens of the camera. Which then gets reelected again off the window and is then caught on camera by the lens that created it to begin with haha. I wear black long sleeve shirts and I wear black gloves when I'm recording to keep my hand/arm from reflecting in the window, but I can't cover the lens haha. Then we'd have nothing to watch. 😂
Thank you for explaining. I watch pretty much all of your content and just didn't recall seeing it before. Very interesting about the reflection effect of the camera. And very cool that you came up with wearing black to prevent getting your own reflection in the window. Other flight videos sometimes show the videographer's reflection kind of prominently. lol. I have watched many videos and i am wondering how do you hold the camera so still the entire time you are flying ..? what do you use if i can ask ..please
I hold the camera by hand in all of my videos except time-lapses. That’s one of the reasons they’re smooth. The camera isn’t attached to a mount that is transferring vibrations into the camera. Also, I have a very nice camera. One that has built in “cinematic” stabilization. This means that the camera is automatically adjusting the lens to compensate for small movements. The result is a very smooth picture.

jlions72 it does cost a lot of money. I spend a lot of my own money filming content for this channel. I am lucky enough to have a decent job, where I make enough money to have some extra spending money. And I put most of that back into this channel. I do get some ad revenues from RUclips, and I have nine Patreons Who have decided to help financially support the channel. All of that money also goes back into the channel. The bottom line is, that I fly a lot because I have made this channel a priority in my life. And most of the time, I am flying simply to get footage for the channel. My trips have no other purpose than to take the flights to get the footage. I’m definitely not rich though. As so many people tend to think hahaha. Like I said, this channel is just a priority for me, and thus eats a lot of my extra money hahaha.

How do you upload hours of 4K. How do you even get it exported So much... How you manage your channel so much but you just upload upload upload upload is so wow
Well, years of work and improving my equipment and techniques has led to me being able to do what I do now. I get a lot of questions about the whole process. I film with iPhones. Currently I travel with two iPhone 14 Pros. Both have 1TB and I don't use them for anything but filming. So on every trip I take, they're cleared off before I start. I then travel with my MacBook Pro that has a 1TB solid state drive and another 2TB external SSD. So, when I'm filming, I have 2TB of immediate storage, with another 3TB available that I can utilize on my laptop if I need extra space. Once I get home, I have a spec'd out iMac that does all the heavy lifting. It's a 2020 27" Retina iMac with an 8 core processor, 64GB of RAM, and a whopping 4TB SSD. I edit every video on this computer that I purpose built for editing in 2020. It can render out 4K 60fps footage pretty quickly. I rendered out 14 videos yesterday alone. This type of power costs a pretty penny though, even considering it's an Apple and they already cost a pretty penny. To put it this way, I had a hard drive issue with it last year and when I took it to the Apple Store to be diagnosed, the techs there said "wow you weren't kidding, this is a beast..." Once I edit the footage I then archive it all on an external hard drive farm that is connected to my iMac. It's currently sitting at 200TB over 12 drives. And no, that's not a typo. That's 200TB or 200,000GB. I've kept every bit of footage I've ever posted, and I can go back and get any clip at any time. However, these 200TB are all on conventional spinning drives, so I don't edit off of them. The callback time to get all the data is too long. If I need a clip to add to something, I first transfer it back to the iMac's 4TB SSD, which makes editing WAY faster. Then comes uploading the footage. And to do that I have super fast 500mbs fiberoptic internet. I get 500mbs all the time, every time. I can then upload hours and hours worth of 4K 60fps footage, insanely quickly. In fact, when I first got the service, my service provider actually put a hold on my account because they thought my IP was trying to attack their system because I had prolonged periods with massive files being transmitted haha. I had to call and explain what I was doing and they released the hold. Haven't ever had a problem since, but I've always thought it was funny. They'd never seen such prolonged periods of continuous data upload, so they thought it had to be a hacker or something haha. While I was typing this message I uploaded 4 new flights that totaled roughly 6 hours of 4K 60fps footage, and my internet uploaded all 4 in less than 5 minutes. So, kind of a basic rundown of what I use to make all this happen. It's my iMac that does all the heavy lifting editing wise, and then it's my fiber internet that finishes the hard stuff with ease. It's been a long process to get there though. For years my MacBook Pro did all the editing, but being a 2015 model with only a 4 core processor and 16GB of RAM, it got to the point where it just couldn't handle it anymore. The jokes really on me at this point. I started all of this for fun and as a hobby, and now I've pumped int thousands and thousands of dollars on new equipment alone haha. The iMac alone was over $6K 😳. And I'm not trying to brag, I'm more trying to convey that it isn't cheap to run this channel, so I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to watch!
