Thanks for watching. Glad Montana exists!
Yes ! Highlight of the work day so far lol.
Thanks for watching.
First time fly fishing last Sunday
Not much coho in the river yet
Switched over to #6 flies and caught 7 brooky's on flies....I'm hooked now
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.
@@Madriveroutfitters
Been watching casting how too's
Still a little ugly but it's getting better with practice.... thanks
@@davewight just keep practicing. It will come.
Beautiful scenery. Even though you were unlucky with the fish, I really appreciated what I call the “Rig Rundown.” Good to see the equipment you are using and bringing on expeditions.
Thanks for watching.
I just started fly fishing a week ago because my grandpa gave me his old fly fishing set and I am grateful that your videos have helped me learn thank you so much.
Thanks so much for watching! Please stay tuned.
I love an honest fishing vid. Beautiful video.
Thanks for watching.
I have had the absolute pleasure of fishing with Johnny McClure. The guy is dialed in. Looking forward to the next episode.
And a pleasure it is. He IS dialed in. Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.
Took up fly fishing this year… just got out of the hospital and am on strict bed rest through steelhead prime time. These videos are keeping me going
Thanks for watching and happy to help. Best of luck and get well soon.
Going to slough Creek next weekend!! Super excited for it. I've been several times before. It's amazing fishing
Thanks for watching. One of our favorite places!
Any day out on the water fly fishing is a great day. Thanks for sharing your very special spot!
Thanks for watching.
There's just something about the whole Lamar River drainage. Stunningly beautiful. Bison everywhere. The views. The history of the Park. Yellowstone Cutthroats that can be downright aggressive or finicky as heck. On the same day and in the same run. Just a magical place.
Magical. Yes. Thanks for watching.
Wow! Thanks for making this video. Great footage and such a beautiful place 😍
Appreciate you being here and please stay tuned.
Wish I could like this one twice. Slough Creek is a special place for me as well. Nothing better on this planet than hiking deep into the back country in Yellowstone and throwing hoppers at cutthroat. Slough is my favorite.
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
That looks a lot like the North Sprague in Southern Oregon where I fly and spinner fish. Very secluded. Always feels like I have the river to myself when I go. Rainbows and Browns. Peace!
Thanks for watching.
Great video, thanks for keeping it real as every outing doesn't produce a pile of fish. Thanks for bringing us along 👍
Thanks for being here. Stay tuned.
Brian love this video. I've been fishing a few places and caught great fish but there's something about having a family history and memories that that one 10-inch trout means the world
Thanks for watching and very true words. He'll appreciate to read this.
Another great episode, can't wait for episode 3!
Thanks for watching and stay tuned.
Excellent film quality episode, great job guys!
Thanks for being here.
Been there... done that... But I never... had a bad day... It was always a joy the pleasure of mother nature's hospitality trumpet any lack of fish. And when fish abliged it was the Cherry on Top.
Thanks for watching. He didn't have a bad day....just to be clear.
Beautiful. Fished Slough Creek one time and hopefully will get back there again one day.
Thanks for watching.
Absolutely awesome … didn’t know about slough creek … will be checking it out next trip out 👊🏻💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching.
I want to do fish there so once in my life. This is a dream for an guy from the south.

As always, magnificent content. Your channel continuously fuel my passion for fly fishing. Thank you for the time and resources you invest in producing these videos, I'm always proud to support Mad River Outfitters by shopping my new toys on your website and have them delivered up to Montreal, Canada.
Thanks for watching and especially thanks for the support of the shop. It's our honor and pleasure. Stay tuned.
I see your staying in the store cabin. It’s my favorite by far and I book that every July a year in advance just to make sure I get it. You always come up in my conversations with Kelly when we’re shooting the breeze, we he is very good at as you know 😊. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for watching.
That's why they call it fishing, not catching....😂 still a great video!
Thanks for watching.
Funny, how you mention bears and what to do. I was in my local creek in Alberta (stauffer creek) when I walked into a grizzly bear in the creek. We both surprised each other and lucky for me he yelled at me and ran off. I was no more than 15-20 yards away from him. I drove 2 hours to get to that location to only fish for 30min, I decided at that moment to head home. I'm a tall guy (6'7") and running into a creature that big always makes me feel small.
We are all small compared to them. Thanks for watching.
Excited for the next one!
Stay tuned.....the excitement level goes up as the week goes on.
@@Madriveroutfitters well I’ll be here, 1 more week of paternity leave!
This video hits home as I am struggling my way through figuring out these trout in Japan. Some days you just get to go on a beautiful walk, and that's alright!
Thanks for being here. Sometimes you get them, sometimes not.
You got there just in time for this smoke to shift. Been dealing with it in Northern Utah all summer too, glad to see the mountains again.
Thanks for watching. They got lucky but it didn’t help the fishing much.
wonderful !!!
Much appreciated.
Beautiful!
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.
This video is a good one. Tell a story. Keep it coming and collaborate.
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.
I was just thinking that it would be awesome if you uploaded the next episode!
We heard you. Thanks for that inspiration.
Guys- great soundtrack! Might be worthy of publishing a Spotify playlist.
Thanks for watching.
Hi Brian! Since I was little I always wanted to get into fly fishing, and lately with my boyfriend (who is an avid fisherman lol) I’ve actually found myself in a position to be able to do that! And I’ve been enjoying it so much but I really wanted to comment and say thank you because a lot of the information that I’ve been using (and that actually works) has come from you and this channel! So I just wanted to say thank you for making this awesome hobby accessible for everyone young or old :)
Thanks so much for watching and please stay tuned.
coming at ya from texas here. love ur channel . thinking of trying flyfishing . but will say, i did visit slough creek in August . beatifull park for sure. yea montana is bad ass.
Thanks for watching and let us know if we can help get you going.
I fished that same location a week ago, and was skunked. The streams just aren’t ready after that drought. But who cares. Sometimes you forget you are fishing and just stand there in awe! Watching you lose that fish made me feel so much better cause my only hit was lost right in front of me
Thanks so much for watching. Tough fishing this year in general.
New reel and line on the way courtesy of madriver outfitters. Watch, then shop. Thanks for the content
Thanks so much for the support! We really appreciate it.
Sweet video
Thanks for watching.
I believe the korkers boots are the Terror Ridge. They don’t look like the new RiverOps.
Very possible. He obviously has no idea what he is putting on his feet. Thanks for the correction.
Been to YNP close to 20 times. Always found Slough Creek difficult because the water is so slow. In fact I renamed it slow creek. 😂 My favorites in YNP are Soda Butte, the Madison and the Lamar. I like water where the trout have to make a quicker decision. I’ve always felt that the slow moving water in the Slough gives them too much time to inspect the hopper. .
Thanks for watching.
We just got back from Yellowstone 2 days ago. Amazing place. I managed to snag one on a fat Albert but it was worth every cast!!! Never had a better place to struggle fishing in lol
Thanks for watching.
Good video friend , i was just checking out your great channel and i joined up
Thanks for being here.
Right on Hopper fishing. Im on the Atomic Ant here in Dirty Jersey S.Branch Raritan River
Nice! Thanks for watching.
I’m kind of surprised you didn’t take the temperature of the stream. I haven’t fished the meadows, but I have fished Slough Creek below the campground. Very interesting water with ultra tricky currents. My favorite Park stream is Soda Butte not far from its confluence with the Lamar. I also like the Yellowstone, at the Tower parking lot ( nice walk down to the river from there) Both those spots are near the road, making it easier for us old men
He did take the temperature. Just didn't show in the video. Sorry about that and thanks for sharing.
The river music was, "Spot On" whimsical in a way. Do you think the river otters are making any impact on the trout in that river? The next time your in SW Montana, and, if you wouldn't mind being a brief mentor, I would be honored to be your "Camp Jack" for the experience.
Thanks for all the post to you, and the camera guy.
Thanks for watching. Feel free to contact Brian at the shop directly with questions or requests. He’s always happy to help.
Watching you thread up your rod, and I remember a story. I was on a stream, and my cast sucked. Couldn't get the darned line to do anything! Looked down after an hour of fishing frustration and realized... I skipped one guide. 🤦♂️
It happens. Maybe that's why he had to put on his glasses?

Head that way next week, super excited! How long ago was this that you were still able to wet Wade? a little chilly for our trip.
Thanks for watching. Filmed on August 8th.
A dream trip of mine is to spend a week in the montanta wilderness.
Why not join us next year?
You should make a trip to New York. It's not all busy streets and sky scrappers
@@wnyoutdoors8515 Yes, he has fished there pretty extensively.
Hahahaha!!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I guess it's not just Utah having rough fishing this year. Must be throughout the West, maybe connected to the heatwave and drought??
Most definitely. Tough Summer all around.
Me in south Florida wishing we had some moving water of any kind
Join us next year?

Would you mind telling who the band was playing at the last part of this great video,
Just stock music for videos. Can't use copywritten music for commercial videos on RUclips.
Had a chance to meet Kelly 2 years ago... he's pretty cool and not stuck up like some Fly Shop owners/employees.
Kelly is a great dude. Thanks for watching!
@@Madriveroutfitters Hey, and great video btw.
@@reelguyoutdoors5536 Thanks for watching.
Have you got any suggestions for flies in lochs/lakes for small brown trout because I find it hard knowing what flie to choice
Please contact the shop directly and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
As the cliche goes … ‘that’s why they call it fishing and not catching!’ Momma said there’d be days like this! Any day on the water is a great day.
Thanks for watching and very true words.
Try a black caddis pattern on # 16 hook worked well when I fished it in 2018 in late July.
He's not still there but thanks.
@@Madriveroutfitters I understand that 😊 a tip for his next trip.
Who did it!? Show yourselves! We want to see the no good bait dunkers who thumbs downed this video.
Those are usually there within 30-40 seconds of posting each video! Always. It’s ok though…..it actually helps us. “Haters make you famous”. Thanks for looking out though.
What airflow fly line is he using? Also what weight is it?
Sorry but you’d have to check with him directly on that. Feel free to call or email him at the shop and he’ll be happy to share. Thanks.
Slough isn’t what it used to be. It has turned into a very technical stretch of water.
Thanks for watching.
Question, Why don't people attache a bell to them self, So we don't Surprise a bear, I think it would work. Just a thought.
There is such a thing....."Bear bells". They sell them in the park.
Slough is one of the most wonderful place ever but there are so many bears
Worth the risk though. Thanks for watching.
Maybe an out of context comment but curious to know what you think. Do you think the river otters could have put the fish on alert?
Not sure on that and you'd have to check with Brian directly. He can be reached at the shop via phone or e-mail. Thanks.
Those aren't river ops, they're "terror ridge" boots. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for setting him straight there.
@@Madriveroutfitters Nah, I’m just annoyingly observant. And I’m sure he values accuracy. Thanks again. 👍🏽
Isn't that in Wyoming?
It is.
It's them damn river otters, they have destroyed some creeks here in NC
Sorry to hear that. We quite enjoyed them on this day though.
¿Do you also hunt?
You’d have to check with him directly on that. We have never seen nor heard of it if he does. Feel free to email him or call him at the shop. Thanks.
When I die I want my ashes to be scattered across Philpot lake in Virginia
Cool. Thanks for sharing.
Bear Spray?
Apparently no bear spray.
Should've gone down in tippet and fly size.
Um, he did all of that. Thanks though.
In fact he talks about it in the video.
No it wasn't unsuccessful you had the pleasure of your favorite haunt.
The fishing was unsuccessful....the day was not. Thanks!
Just doesn’t have the same ring as h’re kitty kitty kitty 🤷🏻♂️
Yes....much different context.
