It's all good. We enjoy Brian's commentary.
Love to see Flip and Brian banter and share wisdom
Back in the 50's my Dad taught me how to fly cast. I wanted to use my whole arm ( Like using a bull whip ). He took a belt ( placed around my chest ) and fastened my upper arm against my side so it would not move. This made me only use the lower part of my arm and wrist. I was ready to use a fly rod when I could cast a fly without using the upper portion of my arm. I also had to have the fly land on a paper plate sized target for lure placement. Same thing when using a casting rod , proper lure placement was expected. Just some of his teachings which has stuck with me to these 77 years.
The more movement of the arm, the less accurate the cast. Simple. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a great story, a practical lesson learned from a very wise man…
You had me slightly concerned at "he took a belt..." but I'm glad it went the other way. 😅 Anyway, good way to think about accurate casting.
That "not breaking the wrist" message locked in 20 years of bad casting! Once I realized I should break my wrist...everything changed!!!!
Thanks for watching and glad we could help!
There's something about Flip telling you something vs. anybody else telling you, that just makes sense. I honestly believe that we sometimes overlook how good of a teacher he actually is. And so is Brian, his instructional videos are by far some of my favorites and I revisit them regularly.
Thanks for this.
Thanks for watching.
You are all brain washed.... Flip may be a good fisherman but he's a lousy teacher!
“Oh idk if I said that?… but I agree with it. I wish I had said it.”
Man I can relate to that
Can't we all? Thanks for watching.
"what website was that? How could I miss it?" Classic Flip. Too busy fishing and teaching.
Can never have enough of Flip or Lefty.
This is very true. Absolute legends.
This was an eye opener. I’ve been taught to basically not move my wrist at all. Coming from spin fishing, it has always felt unnatural. I’ll make sure to break my wrist from now on without thinking it makes me a worse caster. Thanks Flip and Brian!
Thanks for being here. As they both always say....."You MUST break your wrist".
The amount of knowledge sitting in front of the camera is on another level! Thank you again Brian, for putting out great content!
Thanks for watching.
I respect everything this man says and does. I try to watch and hear him every time I get the chance. Thanks so much to you both.
Thanks for being here and stay tuned! Plenty more to come.
"I didn't say that!" --Flip Pallot
Yet another “Flip-ism”.
Now that life has finally slowed down for me, its time to get back to learning to fly fish again. Probably gonna start getting a vise and tools together too. I'll have to watch the fly casting series again. Another inspiring video thanks guys.
Thanks for watching.
Do it !
Any time you get Brian and Flip together it is fantastic. So much respect for each other and the amount that we all gain is immeasurable. Thanks for making content like this.
Thanks for being here and stay tuned.
His humility is admirable!
Our spiritual leader around here.
Being a fly angler out of south Florida I’ve watched the walkers Kay chronicles growing up ,and I could not imagine not doing so, he had taught so much throughout the series aswell as his videos and they have taught me everything I know as a fly angler. This man will live on a legacy for ever, absolute legend! Thank you for the video and I hope to see more!
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned. More on the way.......
I just want to say a big thank you for all the help you've done. I watched all your "learn to fly" videos before I started fly fishing. It helped me a lot getting started. But the magic happend when I re-watched them a bit later, and saw the details in the videos instead of the general idea. It took me to the next level.
So thanks again! Kings regards from Sweden 🇸🇪🙏
Thanks for being here.
Cant agree more!!
@@absolutmilk3123 👍🙏
Definitely a classic. I review this video every spring before fishing.
Thanks for watching! Again!!
Any video with Flip is a good one
We agree!
Absolutely more content with Flip! Y’all just need to make a whole Flip playlist.
Stay tuned.
The reverb added to the click of the glasses gets me every single time.
Thanks for watching.
I am a beginning beginner. This lesson on casting was great! Thank you. I never understood why some said, don’t break your wrist. That doesn’t make sense to me. Now I know about the full cast! Thank you for sharing this wisdom!
Thanks for being here!
There is no other fisherman on the planet I would more rather spend time fishing with than Flip. Thank you Flip. You have enriched my life on the water...and in general.
We agree! 100% Thanks for watching.
9:50 Golden words.
“Don’t cast the fly line, cast the leader and the fly🤩👍 thanks Flip & Brian !!
Thanks for watching.
Two friends, a porch, and rocking chairs. Just need a big jug of sweet tea. Thanks for a wonderful video. I always love learning from the great ones.
Thanks for watching.
One of the best episodes! Fly fishing is up there with golf; many ways to do it but some methods are preferred by the great teachers, and they are both crazy hard, difficult but I love the challenge.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed.
Flip just gets fly casting on such a different level that he can distill it down so simply. Growing up in Florida has always been my idol. He's just such a gem of a human.
He is and does. Our spiritual leader.
Inter generational respect on display. A master and student sharing knowledge with us all. I am enjoying watching the student well down the road in becoming the master in their own right, while humbling acknowledging we never stop learning. Well done gentlemen.
Thanks for watching.
Truly a great communicator. As are you Brian. You guys have taught me so much. Now if I can only catch a fish.
Thanks so much for being here and please stay tuned.

Greetings from North west of Italy
Thanks for being here.
As a lefty (who certainly would prefer any cat in the oven) with all this wonderful advice, I was almost as confused as Flip when confronted with all the things he didn't remember saying in the past (sort of like my morning conversations with my wife...). Great video, great advice, and much appreciated!
Thanks for being here.
I love those " Flipisms" .
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Brian.
Thanks for being here.
Flip is a national treasure. I do the same thing forget saying things that come naturally after so many years experience. It’s just how it is it’s something that you just know in the moment.
Thanks for watching. He truly is.
Have you ever thrown a Frisbee? Forehand or backhand your upper and lower arm give you some forward speed and once your arm is forward of your body and pointing at your target you break your wrist with a snap which spins the disc increasing speed again and adds accuracy in flight.
Good one! Thanks for sharing. Will pass along.
Always ready to learn. Keep the flipisms coming!
Thanks for watching. Will do!
Doesn’t get much better than Flip! Great session, Thanks MRO! 👍 Loved the cat in the oven comment! 🤔😂 Whenever I ask my buddy “What do ya think”? He replies “I think it takes a pretty big dog to weigh a hundred pounds”. I don’t ask him much after all these years.🙂Have a great one guys!🎣
Thanks for watching.
Thank god. I needed this.
We all did! Thanks for watching.
Cheers Brian
Cheers!
Great to see the great flip
Always. Stay tuned.....more on the way.
Yep 👍.sounds & vibration travels 3 times faster , in water than air. This is the reason we walk softly along stems & under cut backs. Especially if you are stalking cruising fish.
Thanks for being here.
Great tips and well presented!
Thanks for watching.
Love the Video.Made some great points.
Thanks for watching!
Great moment
We agree! Thanks for watching.
Cast the moment, it's not always perfect, but it's the moment have. Simple if you stop thinking, best when you try the least. It's a great problem to have, thanks.
Thanks for watching.
I’m 14 and now learning golf from my pap and I’m going to be starting fly fishing early next year if I get a rod for Christmas
The breaking of the wrist in golf hopefully will help me keep in mind to break my wrist while fly casting
Thanks y’all!
Thanks for watching and send Santa our way! We'll be happy to help.
, even in ,what little time i get on the salt
U can do no better than to listen to Flip and Lefty. I sure wished i had access to them when i was starting into fly fishing in the 1960s. The moderately priced gear is so much better today as well. Invest wisely and you will be set for life. I still use my Pfleuger reels of the 60s and 70s.
@@rayditzenberger9517 ok thanks
I hope he comes back to Cbus soon. I loved his casting class and got so much out of it. I still think about his casting instruction every time I hold a rod.
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.

Dude….why aren’t you doing fly fishing podcasts???
Probably because the shop and RUclips takes up all of his time? You'd have to check with him though for sure.
@@Madriveroutfitters whoever wrote this is a freaking genius…yeah I’ll just call him up then….thought I ASKED why not do podcasts and this was his shops site? Whoever wrote this….your 👏 awesome.
Legend!
One of the greatest of all-time! What an honor!!!!!
I was fortunate to start watching the Walkers Cay C about 1970 and that made this Indiana boy a dedicated salt fisher though i seldom have the opportunity to taste the salt. The other thing the first started my salt desire was an article in one of the Garcia annuals in the late 60s that showed this gill fisher that flies for salt were available. I could go on but these 2 things are what opened my horizens.
Thanks for watching. Just to be clear though, the Walker's Cay Chronicles was on tv from 1992- 2005.
I bought my first 9wt rod for salt in late 70s and i was watching WCC before that as i remember. I guess i could be wrong.
@@rayditzenberger9517 First episode was in 1992. We promise.
Flip is a national treasure, he needs a place on Mt. Rushmore
We agree! Thanks for watching.
Lol! Loving the snarky undertones
Thanks for being here.
Thanks. My haul sucks or is zero. I'm self taught since 1986. I wish I took and tell any newbees to take lessons. I need to learn the haul. I fish but I add power to my stroke instead of using the haul.
Get practicing and thanks for watching.
More Flip
Sure thing. Stay tuned.
THANK U
Thanks for watching!!!!
@@Madriveroutfitters I enjoyed being "Flipped Out"
"One day you said to me... Hi, my name is Flip."
"I don't think I said that."
He never remembers.
Episode 14!!
Yes....and counting.
I'm going to grow up to be just like Flip ... when someone says something smart that I MAY OR MAY NOT have said I'm just going to respond "I don't think I said that" LOL
It's gonna be a new catch phrase around here!
What’s the one about the dog and the station wagon?
"A 100 lb dog is a REALLY big dog in a station wagon".....or something like that. Have to check with Flip on what that means?
If Flip never said any of these things, who has Brian been talking to so much all these years?
Well, apparently he's here talking to.......Flip.
I'll smoke what he's smoking
If you fly fish, you have. Thanks for watching.
"If I didn't say it, I wish I did (say that)"

What rod is that ? I want one…

Hey guys
Hey!
What was the website that had the Flipisms? Bet the wayback machine has it archived.
Not sure on that....you'd have to check with Brian at the shop. He may remember.
Looks like flip didn't say much in his classes 😊😊😊
Flip has alot to say! And says it well. Thanks for watching.
@@Madriveroutfitters Think you took it the wrong way. What I'm saying is everytime you said flip said this to you he said he didn't think he said that. Was a wee joke. Love your channel .

Most importantly here, what is the dog's name?
Exactly! We'll check on that and get back to you.

Those giving a thumbs down, are the "don't break your wrist" crowd.
Probably so! Thanks for being here.
Ha! And they all break their wrist too! What everyone means is you shouldn’t be waving your wrist all over the place. That part is true. But you do break your wrist. Great video!
Someone misclicked the dislike button, I'll give you 24 hours to fix this mistake.
They always do. Don’t worry….we don’t. It actually helps us…….ironically.
