That is an excellent video. I have a small hole at the top of this panel, due to wet leaves. This is the only place I have rot at the moment on the bulkhead of a 1996 Defender. I like your welding and I assume you are using flux core wire ? Very good technique for outside where the breeze gives some cooling of the welds.

yes- Its the worst spot for muck build up. the other spot is the 'club sandwich' of panel joins by your knee on the A pillar by the dash. water gets inside the a pillar through there

Great job. Is it zinc-coated sheetmetal, you weld in? How thick is the sheet?

I think your name is Jack Version 2: A jack of all trades, and unlike your earlier version, master of all! Very nice indeed.
It'd be brilliant if all the steel work was gal. I've heard that welding gal is a no no. Is there some secret to your welding that you can share..you are obviously not sick, let alone dead from it!

Ive welded galv for 38 years, just try not to lick it and keep your head out of the smoke. when I was an apprentice we were given a free bottle of milk each daywe were welding to combat the effects. -True story!
It hasn't killed me once yet. and I used to make cow shed railings so I was doing it all day. now I weld trailers- so Im not saying try it- Im just saying Epstein didn't loll himself

@@t.h.o.r. yep the free bottle of milk for gal welding I got as well helped a little, but when my scalp went numb it was time to lay off it for a while, gal poisoning has a few bad affects ,not nice at all ,..

I worked at these old pigs serving my time, and cannot understand how people get excited about them, if any other manufacturers produced a vehicle with wrinkled panels for today's market like LandRover they couldn't give them away, we had a customer who crashed his when the horn fell off and jammed the steering box!

Love it! I know exactly what you mean, Defenders are worth $50-$60,000 here and they are wrinkly and you cant even hold a conversation in one at 100kph. Horrible horrible motor vehicles. But I was born in Yorkshire and I think I have some Land Rover DNA

It's one of those things, you either get them or you don't. I don't think it's something that can be understood from outside.
