My sister-in-law was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's but she doesn't remember seeing the doctor or being told this by the doctor. She think that her husband and her daughter made everything up. Is there anything we can do to help her? Her husband doesn't think there is anything anyone can do. I worry that she will go for a drive and get lost but he says oh no she's okay to drive. But she has had trouble finding a restaurant in town that her and her friend go to every week. My husband is 2 years older than her and will be having an assessment done on July19th to establish a baseline. There is Alzheimer's in the family. When I told her that my hubby was getting an assessment she said that her husband and daughter already think she's looney tunes so she wonders when she will be assessed. Any suggestions would be great!!

I just brought my father-in-law home from hospital. He broke his neck and has dysphagia. He can't chew due to to neck brace. He does not want spoon fed. He won't provide funds for things I need to care for him: food, supplies, liquid thickener, sippy cup? His adult children are not helping. Even my husband is not helping. How am I going to feed this man? Also, he won't brush his teeth or let me change his briefs daily let alone let me in the bathroom with him. He has all his faculties. Stubborn as Hell. Help!

This may sound odd, but when getting in and out of bed becomes too difficult. What about sleeping in a recliner?
