I love the gentle kindness displayed in this video without overstepping into gratuitous sentimentality. Bret comes across as so authentic and genuine, its a rare treat.
Its not everyday that you have to fight back tears when watching miniature painting content on RUclips. This is a great video from a great guy. I really apreciate the sentiment
I still have my dads tyranids sitting in a box. Can’t bring myself to look at them. All my armies were started by him, but the tyranids were his favorites. Kept those when he gave me all the others.
@@goranlindgren9842 This is going to sound a little morbid, but it’s important to have a will! You can put it in your will that you want your collection to go to, say, a gamer friend of yours, or else that they should dispose of it by selling it to a single buyer, and not just throwing it away. Not all buyers will be as pure as Brent, but I’m sure Chris would rest easy knowing his beloved collection ended up in safe hands.

Goober you have add more miniature Restorations to channel. No else that I watch does this. I have only seen channels that do art restoration videos like have also seen. I think it's a good video idea. One that others will mostly copy. But you have both the years of knowledge of the Hobby. And the respect the painter of a old miniature. Fantastic work. I myself have taken on the responsibility of becoming the custodian of a collector's passion. It may sound silly, but I do look at it as a responsibility. Cleaning and maintaining the items and putting on display in a new home. Thanks for all you do.
This is the kind of legacy that any hobbyist dying before his time can only dream to receive. I really appreciate the respect you are showing this man and his minis. You are putting someone's soul to rest here Brent. And I don't mean that as a joke.

Gotta tell ya, as a man of a certain age, as they say, watching this made me think about my collection for WHQ (only thing in don't have is the Witch Hunter, lol) and what is gonna happen to my 1500+ minis. You did a fantastic job on restoration! Your respect for Chris and our hobby is a wonderful thing to see. Thank you!
I hope that his family comes across this episode. Showing respect and consideration to a deceased person you've never met is a special type of kindness, and it makes the world a better place.
This was really cool of you. Tribute to the original owner. The whole video reminds me of The Repair Shop on Netflix, I think you would enjoy it if you haven’t seen it already.
And you didn't have to deal with staples, always a win hah. Nice work man, a great way to preserve some classic models while adding more to your collection, Mr. Price is raising his horn in a toast from Valhalla for your efforts I'm sure.
Goobertown hobbies is a channel that really steps away from the pack. It’s so refreshing to see videos about the joy and fun of the hobby. Inspiring stuff. Looking forward to Brent getting some paint on that Reaper miniature he picked out a while ago 😃
This video makes me think of all the minis I have put away that we’re my Uncle Kevin’s. I’ve paint a few of the unpainted or just primed ones myself but all the ones that he did have a special place in my heart and I can’t bear to paint over of strip them. I really appreciate you restoring this mini for Chris, I think I might do the same sometime.
I absolutely love that you made this video. It's not that the model has sentimental value to you, but that it meant something so someone else, so you honored the original painter. This is why I love your content, keep up being awesome Brent!
Not to make less of your other videos (they are awesome :D), but this one, was the BEST by difference. Thank you for showing us that this is more about just painting.
The level of respect in this video is wonderful, truly you have done a good deed in preserving Chris Price's miniature legacy. Many of us don't know who he is but to me he represents the collective of us hobbyists who very much see our hobby as an extension of us. Great video Goober and keep being a positive light in a sometimes grimdark world.
You are a friggin gem dude. Most of us won't be so lucky for our collections to end up in such capable and respectful hands after we're gone. You're a good man Goob.
I love the attention to detail you carry towards your hobby. Not only is the attention to detail as regards the restoration impressive, but just how much attention you pay to your impact on your viewers. You've given all of us a lot to think about by talking about your newfound relationship with Mr. Chris Price. I would also love to see more of these models restored to his own style.
I love this story more every time you upload another video about Chris's collection. I would happily watch more videos of you restoring his artwork. Ya know, you are not only painting for two now, but all of us viewers are in this together now as well.
Just wanted to say, I would be extremely honored if any of my things ended up with someone that would respect, use, and enjoy them like you. Subscribed.
This level of kindness and care in such a rough year is so needed. Thank you, Brent! This gave me a kind of nostalgic feeling for a future when maybe my kids will be rifling through, selling off, or (fingers crossed) restoring/finishing my collection. I'd never put that on them. But I know it'd bring me a lot of joy to know that my hobby efforts such as they are would live on through them or some other kind soul like the Mayor of Goobertown. Wonderful stuff.
I think you did a wonderful job in honoring Chris by cleaning, restoring and finishing the painting he did not get a chance to complete. The figure looks fantastic and you can clearly see his vision in painting this model. Thank you for sharing this great tutorial.
My dad sold off most of his warhammer collection and kept his favorite - the space wolves. He recently gave me them to play with and told me to just repaint then but I refuse. I feel connected to my dad through them.
I can always rely on coming to Goobertown to relax and feel uplifted. Thank you very much for your content Brent. You fill such an important role in our community that I appreciate very much.
I've got my whole family hooked on Baumgartner! It is incredibly satisfying to watch Julian restore pretty much anything. Just as satisfying as watching and listening to the Mr. Rogers of Miniatures here at Goobertown :) Edit to add: You did a very respectful and respectable job of restoring Chris's Witch Hunter! I think Julian would approve ;D
This meant a lot to see as an artist. Most of us disappear into obscurity with time, so it's really nice to see when fellow artists deeply care about keeping us alive in some small way no matter how small or unknown.
What a great tribute. If you check a local hobby shop they should have small tightly-wound swabs with pointed tips used by plastic modelers. Coincidentally, my brother is an art restorer.
I remember the other video you did on Chris' collection. Very simpathetic and fulfilling, Brent. Glad to see you keeping up the man's memory. Very touching.
I love to see this! This is one of my favorite things to do. There is a comic store near my house that re-sells old minis from people's collections. When I can get a cool old model with a decent basecoat, I carefully clean it, touch up the basecoat, add some highlights and depth with a wash. A few simple steps that really make for some great looking tabletop models. When I'm doing it, I feel like it's a collaboration with another painter, and I feel it's respectful of their time and effort. These old minis I restore are some of the favorites in my collection.
