I rewatched this video today and just was thinking how WONDERFUL that you two were kind enough to pick up 600# of chicken for all those people!! I think that is awesome!!
I can’t even imagine finding chicken for $.99/# right now! It would be so great!! I would indeed buy 100# easily!
What a gift you two are to so many! Thank you for inspiring us to all do better! 💗🥰😘

Hi Leisa, Thanks to you I've been canning for about a year now. My wife was initially resistant to the whole Idea of canning. But over the past 12 months she has appreciated the versatility of meal prep along with the HUGH time saved with the end result. She has done a 360 degree turn around and enjoys the role of a Sharp Bargain Hunter, all the while knowing that Canning is the route to Go! Tomorrow 20 lbs of Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breast ($1.29/lb) will be processed for our convenience and security that if a SHTF situation should occur we will be taken care of. Love the versatility of Ugly Chicken! Thanks for the postings and valuable teaching! Oh one thing before I leave, correction to the first sentence.... "We've been canning for about a year". Stack it to the rafters babe....

My hubs and I were super excited for the price you got on the chicken breast, thinking we would make that drive for it if we were you. Then on Tuesday we found that a local Hispanic grocery store was selling their chicken breast for $0.99! Praise God we had the money and the room so we have 160 lbs in our freezer and getting ready to be canned and froze! We are sharing some with our parents as well. Way better than the almost $3/lb price at Sam's and Aldi here in Wichita, Ks. Our ugly chicken stockpile needed replenishing and thank God we can take care of it now. ❤

Hi Leisa, I'm so happy that I found you because you sound like somebody who I could easily get along with. I'm impressed with the quantity that you're canning. I just finished watching your video on canning meatballs in spaghetti sauce and beef broth. I told my husband that I'm going to can meatballs. Maybe not that quantity, but I'll be saving that for January and February. It helps to heat the house too. In my big Presto pressure canner I can get 10 regular mouth jars on the bottom and 10 on the top. I get less in when I put wide mouth jars in the pressure canner. I just canned 2p pints of beef. I'm going to be up really late tonight peeling apples and making applesauce.

Okay, you talked me into it. I don't eat poultry but my husband does. I've never tried canning any kind of meat. But! My local grocery has a loss leader today of 99¢/lb chicken breasts. On my way to pick up the 10 lb max right now. I guess I'm canning ugly chicken this afternoon!

So much fun watching this video! Watching you and Phil while you’re driving, my brain started singing Born To Be Wild, then slowed down to enjoy Into The Mystic. Lol. That’s what happens when you’re down with bronchitis and have too much time on your hands!

Wow. I wish I had known too. I am just starting canning, so I have salsa and 4 pints of meat, lol. I'm in Grand blanc so it would be a drive up there to Freddies but sure worth it. Thanks for your videos 🥰

Get an Avid Armor vacuum sealer. It is heavy duty. I would recommend the big one. I can only do pints in the one I have. Love the road trip. Weather looks bad for Holiday weekend. Keep warm. We know you won't starve. LOL

Yes, get a stock pike when its at its cheapest. Me and my husband live in maryland but order bulk meat when its at its cheapest (if we can afford it) from a place towards Altoona Pennsylvania. Tomorrow we are actually picking up 40 lbs of ground beef for 3.00 a lb, which is a great price here right now. We just picked up 80 lbs chicken 3 wks ago from same place for 1.30 a lb. Now , sadly we could have gotten it all cheaper from May-July but finances just wasn't working out in the slightest then. Will prepare better next yr at that time!
Remember first time I canned ugly chicken, husband snarled his nose up at it, then its was even worse when he opened a jar and smelled it 😂. But I snuck a jar into our meal and he loved it. Now he is good with me canning up meats.

Scored a ginormous pork tenderloin for $1.99 pound! Have been using 4jars canning lids since you first mentioned them. Have had 1 failure, my fault , and they are still sealed. I don’t use any other lid now and have stocked up “just in case”
