I'm not giving up after 2 measly days, so stay tuned for day 3... In the meantime, here are all my gig-app related videos: ruclips.net/p/PLIXZgmnvg0nBENudSgKa3MggB4uzeDss1
I’ve been doing DoorDash since 2019. My best suggestion is to only work the dinner rush 5-8 and to try to stick close to pizza places. Any other time DoorDash becomes to sporadic and random. Also I have a rule of thumb to not deliver to apartment complexes after dark but that’s up to you. I never let my acceptance rate drop, bellow 50% and I generally make around 15-20$hr
@@Dottikance I doordash and when I go to apartments sometimes they have to buzz you in then go up tons of stairs and try to find their building or apartment number. It's annoying and wastes time especially if the pay is small.
I second the dinner rush, I remain very confused at the "breakfast... rush?" logic. I never considered using door dash for breakfast until seeing these videos 🤣
@@anonymixx8106 Suppose there is a "breakfast" rush in some areas. It does seem odd. More people eat dinner than breakfast, so yo can't lose waiting for a dinner rush.
@@sophistiq8ted I've been delivering for 6 years and have over 20,000 orders. It's set up now so you know what the PIP is ahead of time 99% of the time and I very rarely get tips that I don't already know are coming
@Krystal Price I would never reccomend taking an order that doest meet your standards with the upfront payout as its incredibly rare you receive additional tip more than you are shown at acceptance. If it happens, it's a bonus
Those $2-$4 orders are the ones that always leave the negative feedbacks. They also live in a maze. They want you to leave order on the floor so they don't look at your eyes.
They put "hand it to me" then text him "leave at door" because they are a no tipper and will probably call doordash support and say he never delivered it
@E Moo In this scenario, I recommend taking a pic via the text feature and sending that to them before you complete the order to ensure this will never happen. Takes an extra 15 seconds but worth it. Always cover yourself with proof
"I'm gonna follow all the rules" *door dashes in the morning again instead of at dinner time* lmao. I love this tho bc your crisis over picking orders is a great example of brains clinging onto patterns just bc they're cozy. V relatable. Good for you sticking to your guns, I like this content that happens to overlap into personal development lol
@@GoHerping 1 pm is a great time to start i think. i used to do a 9-1 shift at my part time job then dash, and it was very consistent (in spartanburg)
@@GoHerping honestly lunch is pretty genius. Maybe your area just isn't busy enough to have that noticeable of a rush at that time in proportion to the amount of drivers in the area? I'm curious if asking online for tips from those in your area or types of areas (such as more suburbs ish specific tips) could be more helpful to you (than stuff that would work in say downtown ATL)
Notice the 2.25 order he declined from chick fil a is actually the same exact order he accepted at 2.75. Door dash will up the base pay if everyone declines the no tip order. so they up'd it by 50cents and then he accept it. trust me i know 100% that that was the same exact order.
Just because they do that doesn't mean they can afford it. Doordash is still in debt, they haven't made profit and won't for years. Doing Doordash right now is just as risky as being a Twitch streamer. You're relying 100% on a billionaire who only cares about his investment bringing a profit. At any point Doordash could just up and go bankrupt, then all of these gig workers relying on it for income suddenly have no job.
Each time a dasher declined an order, DD raises the offer by 25 cents. Uber eats raises by roughly 20%. If the offer gets so high that the company won't earn a profit, they stack it.
this is why you are supposed to decline orders, so you don't waste 20 mins delivering an order for someone who doesn't even have the respect to tip you for your time. i NEVER EVER take orders under $5 minimum. yes it feels bad to be picky and decline orders and sit for 10 mins with no action but you are wasting your time delivering for no-tippers when you could be available for a good order like your first one. usually when you first show up to an area you will get bombed with 5-10 really shit deliveries (no tip, $3 for 8 miles, shop and deliver etc) because all the drivers in the area have been declining those and bounding them around so they go to the first available person. i live in the midwest in a LCOL state and i make $20 minimum an hour. sometimes in a really good night i make $30. you just have to know what orders to take and which ones to say hell no to.
ever since they removed the option to dash where you end up after taking an order outside the starting zone i never went back lol. also now they penalize u if u have a lower acceptance rate, essentially forcing u to accept shitty $3 orders
This is not at all true. You are never forced to take anything. You have to be willing to decline orders until you get one that makes sense or you will drive way to many miles for the payoff. And you can absolutely get orders outside of your zone, I do it daily
Doordash are crooks, and you're not an independent contractor! Doordash has now implemented that drivers setup a schedule, which gives driver's less freedom to work at their own time and convenience. Please don't accept any orders less than 2.50 a mile, because your time has worth and your vehicle has expenses
@@pfsman35 cool man lol. i worked for the company for 5 yrs and that wasnt the case in my area, they made u drive back to the original delivery area u started ur dash in.
Doordash is supertrash now. Ubereats is my go to now and i end up a lot of times getting increased tips cause i stay close to the rich people and make sure their food stays nice and hot.
Alex at 14:49 be like: "I'm at the KFC" "I'm at the Taco Bell" "I'm at the combination KFC and Taco Bell!" As others have said, try to do it during the late afternoon or dinner time. When I order Uber Eats or DoorDash, I always do it around that time and never for breakfast. And regarding the texts they send you, they do that to make you push harder. Remember, they are automated texts. Don't let those texts get to you. KNOW your limits!
Panera fun fact: While Panera Bread is called Panera Bread in the majority of the United States (they also have locations in Canada), the ones in the Greater St. Louis Area however, are called Saint Louis Bread Company. It's similar to how Burger King is called Hungry Jack's in Australia, because Burger King was already trademarked by a takeaway shop in Adelaide (and so they named it after their Aussie franchisee Jack Cowin). In the case of Panera, those locations are called that to honor their roots as Panera Bread started as the St. Louis Bread Company in 1987 with the first location in Kirkwood, MO. After Au Bon Pain bought them in 1993, they changed the name in 1997 to Panera from a word that has roots in the Latin word for "breadbasket".
Hey Fellow NC DoorDasher here. I've been doing Doordash for over a year in the NC Cary/Apex Area. As Viking Said best time to do DD is Dinner But especially Friday nights. I Can work from 4:00-10:00 and make well over $100. If you stay in the areas where there's lots of Large Houses you'll do good. Also For the Red Card orders. They Aren't as bad as some people make them out to be. I Had an order for 7 Items and it took me only 10 Minutes to make $17.50 from that one order. So here's what to do - Do dinner time - Do Peak Pay from when it starts till it stops (Example: 5:29-7:30 +$2.00 Work From 5:29-7:30) - Don't stop and park waiting for an order. Drive around to find orders. Will save you time IF i have anymore i'll let you know but i wish you the best of luck!
I do iber eats, mine was 13 miles away, I had construction and heavy traffic all the way there, no tip, and I made sure to leave it at the person's location and side door as requested.
Pro Tip: Learn the parking laws in your city and state. In most states, delivery vehicles can park almost anywhere as long as they're not blocking traffic. (i.e. if UPS or FedEx can park there, you can too.) Just be sure to turn on your hazard lights. And checking local laws helps you avoid issues.
It's varies wildly by area. So sometimes someone will tell you how you're not doing good, but it's because they're in a better area. Both my cousin and I do this part time and I always lectured him on how he could do better. Finally I went along with him in his area, and lo and behold, it was much harder to make $$. Even in top markets, it's oversaturated and only good during the few peak hours.
Me thinks doordash maybe isn't the best in your area. Although I'd like to see if dinnertime is the same.. maybe one more try at dinner with Mike's suggestions 😂
I feel the same way. My area was like that for the brief time I did it. High competition, long (often over 10 mile) distances, and very low paying orders all contributed to not being able to make more than 7:50 on average. It was more consistent to just work at McDonalds. After wear and tear and the like was deducted, the overall play was somewhere closer to 4 dollars an hour. Lol
No...he's in a wonderful area. Taking anything under $6.50 will never have a hidden tip. I would suggest Morrisville or north Raleigh around Crabtree or north hills. You never want to take fast food...you need mid their and higher restaurants.
Keep in mind that those 3 miles you're gonna have to come back home an additional 3 miles so in reality those are 6 miles you are driving so if you're doing a ride for $6 you're basically earning a dollar a mile. So make sure that the mileage adds up to the amount.
For shop and deliver, treat it like you are the 10 item or less line at the store. And have a minimum per item plus mileage in mind for them. My personal preference is $1 per item plus 1.25 per mile. If the order does not meet those requirements, I don't take them.
I followed his tips and now I'm at a 42% acceptance rate and barely making any money. He says they don't penalize you but they 100% do. It's my only income right now so I'm praying I get hired somewhere with a stable paycheck, cuz this delivery stuff ain't cutting it.
You are just dashing in a rural area. I'm in Chicago and everything is close and no more than 10 miles. Also I dash at night which allows me to get more orders in less time with no traffic and typically peak pay becas4noone wants to dash at night in chicago.
I deliver with Uber Eats and really enjoy it. But watching this has made me so glad I don't DoorDash because holy crap do they bug you to DEATH!! I've never seen so many buttons and things to read pressuring you into accepting an order. Why do they make it so complicated?? 😂
I live a block away from my job and after I get off work at like 10-11pm I doordash in the same plaza I work at. There's almost always a peak pay of 2-3 bucks and theres a mcdonald's and a few other places and it really pops off late at night. A lot of people who live close who just dont want to leave the house after dark, I'm talking 7 dollar orders for 1-4 miles. I usually make an extra 30 bucks per hour. I tried dashing n the morning and only made about 45 bucks in 6 hours 💀 most of the time spend just sitting around waiting for an order. Definitely wouldn't recommend dashing earlier during the day, also found you really don't get much orders unless you're super close to the store that has the order
My suggestion to you...find an area with a lot of restaurants, as that will be a hotspot. Some people like shop and pays, some don't. I do a few, but I'm select with the ones I do. Mike's right, don't take anything under $5, unless the dollar to mile ratio adds up (i.e., $4.50/.08 miles). You'll get the hang of it. Just figure out your market and you can make money at this! I started ride share in 2016 and started food delivery in 2018. I've been at this for a while now. I'm disabled, so this is about the only job I can do. Be safe out there!
They really need to give ppl more time on the acceptance location. Most times ppl are trying to get back to their zone, this could lead to a wreck. Really trying to see if Doordash is worth it because they always sending me low tipper or no tippers at all.
The truth of the matter is now in 2023, even in good markets, you have to be willing to dash for 10-12 hours to make $200 a day. I do about 6 hours a day focusing on lunch and dinners and make anywhere between $75-$150 a day. Everyone thinks there is some formula. Its really simple, if its busy stay out as long as you possibly can, if its slow, stay out even longer! Boom, problem solved. The problem is everyone expects to make $20-25 and hour but focus on daily total no matter how long it takes. WORK HARD! Then you wont hate it so much bcuz the results will get there. Stop asking for quick and easy, nothing is! Work your ass off and the money will follow
I had the best luck (as an example) finding a wealthy suburb of Atlanta about 40 mins away, and scheduling several hours at a time. Having houses and restaurants relatively close to each other helps a lot
Wow I'm glad I never not have orders. I use to dash at night and I kicked ass on making money. I'd work 4-5hrs on Thursday-Sunday and make $200-$500. Now I do the lunch crowd. I start at 11am till 3pm and I'll make $150-$200 esp on cold snowy or rainy days I make alot more. Helps that I do Uber eats and dash at the same time, but I've noticed Uber eats pays way more
One thing that I always do is not go out until around 5pm. Do a couple orders in the heavy traffic then once you get past 6:30 traffic is not as bad and you get so many more orders as compared to early in the day.
Also don't worry about acceptance rate. Mine is 35% and I still get really good orders. Doordash is a very sketchy company that loves to lie and manipulate dashers to make their customers happier. Good luck man!
@@tret1491 that is what I've learned as well with that peak pay mess. I just ignore and follow my 1st mind. I also multi app w/ Spark as well while dashing. So if i don't have one I will have the other.
If you can't afford to tip you shouldn't order out. I always tip 20% in my area. Not sure if that's standard. I also never order anything under $20. I think people take advantage of doordash drivers.
i don't really understand this idea. why gatekeep people if they're willing to pay the due amount? spending extra money via a tip is optional because it's extra, not mandatory
@@GoHerping I'm in Ontario canada. I guess maybe it's a regional thing. I can't imagine not tipping. There's a famous vid where the delivery driver took back the food because the guy only gave her $8. It was somewhere in the states. Personally, I know drivers are paid peanuts which is why up here, tipping is considered mandatory. Even the app has it already at 15%.
thank god you said no to that no tip 2.50$ order even if its just across the street dont waste your time for 2$-4$ orders half the time you still have to wait for the order to actually be ready and that 1 mile trip still takes 20-25 min when you could have just waited to accept a better offer. i only take orders 7$ n up within a 5 mile range and anything above 7 miles has to be over 12$ only accepting these offers my AR is at 12% but i make about 25n hour up to 40$ when its really good. Edit: And then you take the 2.75$ order.. lol please stop taking no tip orders screw those assholes they dont appreciate you or your time whatsoever if they cant afford to tip for the service they need to pick it up themselves base pay starts at 2.50$ so a 6$ order is a 4$ tip do the math it can be really easy have no worries declining those shit orders good luck!
I'm going to start doing this I just started dashing a few months ago and take every order I can and some nights i make 30+ an hour but last night I only made 8 after an hour thanks to 1 no tip order and one low tip order up a 3 story apartment that ordered nothing but drinks
I started doordash in 2021 and it's slowed down a lot in my area. This past month has been slow in general but that's the game with doordash sometime you average $20+ and other times you barely make even with expenses. I never take orders that don't tip or that are less then $5 because they are not worth the time or gas. Overall it just takes time getting to know your area so you can then avoid slow restaurants and confusing apartment complexes with hidden addresses. It's not a bad thing for people like me who like to drive around and listen to music to make some extra money.
I call it driving around picking up little piles of money. But be picky and choose smart. Stop bending to psych pressure. I can't believe hiding the total amount is legal. Imagine fees being like that. Oh wait it cost more!
I am new to dd but I have a lot of pizza del experience. I have learned how to get into apartments, short cuts traffic patterns. I made top dasher after one month but it’s been so hard for me so I feel sorry for anyone new and green. The restaurant won’t start the food until you get there and the clients are brutal when it comes to tips. It’s a very hard job for sure. Then dd plays every psychological game possible to pressure you into taking the order, remember dd gets 3.99 del fee and 1.25 service fee on every order so now you can make better decisions about what money is coming to you and you should feel better about decline plain bad orders.
A few pointers: -AR doesn't really matter as much. I'm down to 55% and I'm still making money. -NO TIP NO TRIP meaning anything that is 2.75 or 4.75 with peak pay. If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to order. -No tippers are the most entitled customers and tend to leave bad ratings for any minor inconvenience. -Stick around the red zone when not actively in a delivery. -Don't knock on no contact orders, often times they do no contact so you don't wake up their spouse or get their dog all riled up. -For orders that say no contact, that always takes precedence even if it says something else or the customer is waiting for you on the porch. Always take a picture of the drop off, because scammers will say you didn't drop the food off if you hand it to them without a picture. -Eat your meal before you dash, and dash at dinner time (4-10). -Downtown is never worth it. The parking and driving distance is usually awful.
@@36GodMob At least in my area, it pays about the same as a pizza delivery place, except you don't have to do dishes and you can pick your own schedule. So I suppose it depends on what you're comparing it to.
I could be wrong but i heard that dashers don’t see if the order they are accepting has a tip or not.. which is awful not only for the dasher but for the customer. I tip higher than i should be tipping because i want my order to be prioritized and accepted ASAP.
the dasher will see what they're being paid up front, just not a breakdown of how much was a tip until after. I think it's ultimately a fair process in that regard, but yeah a tip will def get your order picked up by a dasher faster
I NEVER add a tip before the order is actually delivered unless it is a super small tip, because you can end up tipping someone to steal your food or someone who did a bad job.
@@zebraloverbridget that's a good way to not get your order accepted, doordash will refund money orders if it gets stolen long as you are not doing it a ton.
@@zebraloverbridget I totally disagree.. No one is going to door dash just to get one meal and get fired. Also if something is missing from the bag it's usually always the incompetence of the fast food joint you just ordered from. I try to always order from the places that seal the bag up with multiple stickers so you know your food is untouched upon receiving it. But in the unfortunate event where something is missing all you do is claim it on the app and door dash refunds asap with no questions asked.
@@lazcoroner1483 I had my entire meal stolen.... and it took hours before they would refund me. ALl while I sat their starving due to having no food and the weather being too risky for my vehicle (but safe for a car to drive in)
(If you are not killn it on youtube) 1. Work for a local pizza shop from say 5pm-Close 2. You save gas or electric 3. You make a clean $125-$150 4. The farthest you go is within 10 minutes bc Shops have a Zone 5. You stock some soda 6. You get a few free slices or burger on the house 7. Gig work delivery via apps is for people who are to lazy to interact with other people
Ok, so the best thing to do is basically go and park in the middle of a busy spot where there is Walmart and Restaurants. The only way you will know if you want to shop and deliver is doing it at least once. I actually like doing those. Get to know the store and where things are located so that you can get in and out faster. Just because you see a dash amount doesn’t mean that is what you will end up with. They are famous for withholding the full pay amount and the customer has the right to add a tip after you deliver. If you want to make money and get more and more deliveries take all that is available. I always make a minimum of $20/hr. You also need to watch the time and figure out what is the best time to start and stop. I usually do 10am to 1pm and take home almost $100 each day. You also have to watch what day your dashing.
Hello. What I like to do for dinner time is eat dinner before I leave around 5:30pm. Drive to McDonald's parking lot. Impatiently wait for the order rush to kick in between 6pm and 7pm. Keep dashing till a little after 9pm on a Friday night. If I'm not feeling irritated already from DoorDash, I'll keep dashing till around 11pm. Accepting the more problematic gas station night orders spiking from the stoners and drinkers needing a few beers and snacks. Everyone has there own rules on this. Mine are likely different. Being in a small town. I'll accept no tip orders if the app says less than 1 mile or a just a little over, but only during the day. I'll accept no less than a $1.00 tip per mile, give or take. Sometimes I'll accept orders that want me to drive 13 miles round trip to a country road cottage or trailer park for $10.84. The scenery during the summer can be a nice break from zipping around town.
Sylva North Carolina (Western Carolina University) Area Dasher here - The Friday and Saturdays closest to the 1st and the 15th are the best you will get - Families are tired and everyone just got paid. SUNDAYS ARE HORRIBLE - Everyone is at the grocery store. Mondays are horrible Tuesdays-Thursdays are kinda Meh. Some towns only have Fast Food as their DoorDash options - dont rule that out.....those are some of my best tips.
I do Uber eats and it’s great! Lots of bonuses and you can get order while driving anywhere. I always Uber eats on my way home. I usually make about $25 in one hour to 1 1/2”
Me too! I do great here in Georgia . I stay mainly in the suburbs so not the city, rarely go to apartments and low mileage since restaurants tend to be close to the houses 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 I average $75-$150 day but with quests I can earn more
Did you have to agree to any addendums? We are all paying 25% back on every run to ubereats for their business expenses so we are working for only 75% of our money
I have tried DD off and on over this first week of deliveries and can't stand it. Uber has a much better user experience. Less button presses, you don't have to press Arrived at pickup when you park. No need for pressing Directions after you receive the order, it auto starts the navigation to the next step. When taking a picture for proof of delivery Uber just opens the camera app, while DD asks if you want to use the camera or files... Huh? I don't have the picture on file already DD of course I want to use the camera! Another button press yay!!! 😑The only complaint I have for Uber and DD both is they need larger buttons. Design things for gross motor skills, simplify the steps and larger buttons for those steps. I've signed up for Shipt and Amazon Flex but still haven't been accepted, hopefully I'll experience those platforms in my area and choose the best for me. Good luck!
I'm paying attention to everything, BATTERY-OPERATED charge only Tesla, the amount of subscribers, your set up at your home, your lunches everyday, your easy going attitude, and all. I think I see the bigger picture. Keep doing you!!!!! Don't let nobody tell you you're doing anything wrong. Your channel, your way! Entertaining content. Subscribed!
Do you have unpaid tickets? Or a warrant out for your arrest? Or intoxicated while driving? Why worry, Police are people too, and the staff needs to eat.
I think with DoorDash, IF you were looking for earlier times, you have yo think about the area. For example, the best times for breakfast would be weekends, especially Sunday brunch around campuses. Lunches would probably only be popular near businesses on weekdays (typically around 11:30-1pm). But you'll get your bulk at dinner time; especially when their is a game/fight on.
They could not pay me enough to use my own personal car for DoorDash and the other services. Most that choose to do that type of work got to clue if their car insurance policy covers that type of work on their policy. For example, take being a Uber driver where you drive people around. Some car insurance companies call that 'Ride Sharing' which tends not to be covered by their policies by default but can add it for an extra price. I heard of one Uber driver caused a wreck and afterwards tried to file a claim. But the insurance company denied their claim cause of the reason above.
What area is that? Food delivery isn't worth it depending on your area. People just end up complaining that they can't make a living. Texas was absolutely crazy when I visited there. The orders were all between 2 and 4 dollars and people tipped almost never. Meanwhile in Cali pay is 20 to 50 bucks an hour and people almost always tip. CRAZY.
They are sending you the small orders because you accept them. Power strip is where they have big restaurants that are more expensive like BJs chueys or chilis.
The door dash app completely sucks. There are other good reasons to decline orders, but of course, they don't have them on the list. Some shop and delivers are ok. But the app shuts down in the middle of an order. I think people can't afford food delivery, and that could be why it's bad right now. I'm about 50%. I was down to about 39%. Just like Uber eats, the app doesn't tell you what building your going to until you accept. I wish there was a better way to make extra dough. Good video.
5 bucks for me is standard minimal for Bad service or a short cab ride I'll tip that much to start with since the 90s, earn the rest.. I been thinking about raising it.
A good tip too is don't drive aimlessly to get orders your moving too much n wasting gas ots better to get to watever yiur busy area is n sit there n wait for orders of course don't be at the same one all day but give each busy spot stleast 10-15 minutes will get more order n save gas
In my experience, breakfast and lunch time suck. Usually money making time is about 3pm-12am. At least down here it is. Now sometimes on Saturdays lunch is kickin bc of people that had to work, so I'm delivering to alot of peoples work.
Not tipping a delivery driver is a sin! leaving a $1 tip per mile is what i usually do. I use Uber eats because they have a proper GPS and communication with the driver. but these California fees are out of this world it sometimes hurts to tip
If there's a promo, there's a good chance its only to get more drivers out JUST IN CASE they get busy. Not because they are actually busy. I learned to stop falling for it. Lol
Feel lucky dude. 2 weeks ago I got my first order since last thanksgiving. They only let you schedule 30 minute windows. You spend 15 minutes waiting on first order. Then you can’t extend your dash because it’s not busy. I dropped from $400 a week to $9 a week.. over 408 deliveries and a 96% acceptance rate 84% on time. Thank you jack in the box
From what I've seen in NYC it's usually 2 or 3 ppl per car to pick up orders and delivery, also they are mostly likely have multiple applicants running at the same time. I've never done these but I would assume they are picking up orders left and right and dropping them off left and right as well
The rates are ridiculous. Wish I could upload some screenshots. Remember also when we are not compensated for return trips so long trips can be expensive
In the metro Detroit area I can make anywhere from 20 to 50 an hour no problem. I haven't been to North Carolina in years but one of the apartments you went to looks crazy familiar
I actually do better at lunch in my area. I also have up on Friday nights all together in my area. Too many restaurants take 30+ minutes. It ends up being a a waste of time despite the order volume. If you stand around for 30+ minutes each time you don't make anything. (Also unassign sooner 10 mins max). Chipotle here is usually at least a half hour. Usually over an hour wait. So figure out the stores like that and just auto decline them all.
It sucks that you didn't make much this time around, but your decision making seems to be improving! You were right to skip those low orders. If you want to do lunch time dashing again, I'd start at 12-12:30 as opposed to 11-11:30.
Forget Mike! Figure out what works for you. Another person's advice is good if they live in an area exactly like you do. If you live in small town USA and he lives in a much bigger city the same rules are not going to apply because you're not going to get so many orders The girl also said she hates shopping delivery. I find it to be easy money if it's in range of where I want to be.. Just remember that RUclips Stars have an ulterior motive that is to sell you things and affiliate marketing.
Don't go overboard running to bonus/peak pay slots. You'll find out that too many dashers have been approved for it, and like my area will get one offer per hour.
I love these videos. My mom recently suggested i do those kinds of amazon deliveries that you did, so it's nice to see what the work is like. Keep up the good work :)
If you DoorDash everyday, you’ll already be out and about for you to pick up your own food instead of ordering DoorDash. Saving money on your monthly food budget…even tho I don’t think you have a budget lol
I'm not sure how doordash works so do the doordashers get paid anything besides tips? We do order from doordash at least once a week and I always give extra tip because in this Atlanta traffic it's totally worth it for me. Good luck on your new job. Thanks and God bless 🙏
You can do it 2 ways, I am new at it but one of them is you get paid for your time on your dash but it seems like you get lower tipped orders (basically an hourly wage+ tips, mine has been like 11.25/hr, but you can only reject 2 deliveries before you have to switch to the other method) or you can do per order which just pays you for the time you are doing an order, but if I understand correctly you don't get paid for the time between orders but you get slightly higher paying orders as far as tips and stuff. Someone can correct me if I explained this wrong. But anyways, they do pay you a rate for your time but it varies depending on the time of day and special promotions, and it's not a lot.
There is technically a formula based on distance and order but the base pay from Doordash is VERY low... Like so low it will rarely even pay for running a vehicle. Effectively all the actual income is tips. There are only so many dollars to go around when most people order single meals from fast food places. The model really isn't very sustainable and it's no wonder the company has never made money.
Your problem is your location and the times at which you are using Door Dash. Raleigh is too Rural/Country and old fashioned to be an effective area to do Door Dash. Also, dinner time is the peak time to use it. I have seen people in Atlanta, GA get 50-100 dollar tips doing Door Dash. I am in the Tidewater area of Virginia and in only 3 hours I typically make 60- 100 dollars doing Door Dash. But to be honest, Uber Eats is better than Door Dash. Most people who use Uber Eats also use Uber for rides, so they are used to tipping big.
I'm in the Cary zone doing gig work full time. Cary, north Raleigh, and Wake Forest are all viable to make $1000 to $1200 a week.... But you have to cherry pick and multiapp and be willing to keep the apps running 12-16 hours a day. Also dashing in a Tesla is not going to get anyone shelling out a cash tip.
I don't know if this makes me feel better or worse for ordering food. Like, you get business if I order, but I also order a lot of fast food. But don't live in an apartment? Hopefully, I'm being too much of a bother to my drivers, ahhhh......
nobody should feel guilt for using a service simply because the people working don't like the job. and any dasher that complains to the customer (which I've had as a customer) sucks, I just do it in videos lol. you aren't even obligated to tip for all I care
I wonder if Panera Corporate is just differentiating between which stores Panera the company runs v. a franchise? I'm pretty sure McDonald's is like that
I only dash at night in my area. In areas with more tippers lunch will be fine, but usually not worth it. I got $120 in 3.5 hours for lunch in Richmond on a Thursday was fun, but a crazy hustle.
Really appreciate the progress bar under the overview sections! I normally get stressed not knowing how quickly I should be reading text in videos lmao
doordash isnt what it was. maybe in some states , theyre still making money, but I live in florida for example where everyone and their grandma is a dasher and the orders this whole year has been such shit. alll day I get orders that are like $3 for 10 miles away or $6 for 15 miles away which is suuuuuchhhh a joke!!! I dont ever take anything that pays less than $2-3+ a mile, fuck em!! they can go get it themselves for that change! thats a slap in the face! alsoooo thank god you didnt take that cvs shop and deliver, ESPeCIALLYYYYY WHEN THEY SEND YOU TO TWO SPOTS, also good job on not taking the chick fil a . THEY ARE THE WORSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT PLACE TO GO NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY OR ANY DAY. JUST STAY CLEAR OF CHICK FIL AS AND MALLS. NEEVERRRRR TAKE ANYTHING IN THE MALL. YOU'RE GONNA BE IN THERE FOR AN HR JUST TO FIND THE STORE. PLEASSEEEEEEE DONT DO THAT.. EVEN IF IT SAYS YOUR ACCEPTANCE GOES DOWN, IT CAN GO ALLLL THE WAY DOWN TO A ZERO, DOESNT MATTER, YOU'LL STILL GET ORDERS DONT WORRY. THEY SAY THAT SO THAT THEY INTIMIDATE DRIVERS INTO TAKING SHIT ORDERS NO ONE TAKES. DONT WORRY, WORRY ABOUT YOUR POCKET. I LITERALLY JUST GOT AN ORDER FRO 2.8 MILES AWAY FOR $5. NOPPEEEEE!!!!!! AT LEAST $6 OR NOTHING!!! GAS IS LIKE $4 SOMETHING, I KNOW YOU DONT USE GAS BUT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT YOURE USING THAT EXPENSIVE ASS CAR FOR IT, AND EVENTUALLY YOURE GONNA NEED NEW TIRES, BRAKES, OIL CHANGES, IT ADDDS UP QUICK. I JUST WAIT AT HOME FOR ANY DELIVERY THAT IS WORTH IT. I FOUND THAT WHEN I DRIVE TO HOTSPOTS, ITS SOOOOOO SATURATED, AND I WAIT AROUND FOR THE ORDER TO BE READY FOR EVERRR, JUST NO, NOT WORTH MY TIME. ALSO I THINK UBER EATS IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER , AND THEY PAY WAY BETTER, BUT SADLY I CANT DO IT BECAUSE I GOT A DUI A FEW YEARS AGO , AND UBER ANYTHING DOESNT ALLOW IT. THEY WILL LET YOU DO IT FOR A DAY OR TWO THOO UNTIL THEY DO YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK. SORRY FOR ALL THE CAPS BUT PLEASSEEE READ IT ALL AND TAKE THE ADVICE. I know some people that were making bank on dd with GPS spoofer and hacked phone but dd has been gradually shutting it down.
I never let my acceptance rate drop, bellow 50% and I generally make around 15-20$hr

what's the downside of delivering to apartments?
@@Dottikance I doordash and when I go to apartments sometimes they have to buzz you in then go up tons of stairs and try to find their building or apartment number. It's annoying and wastes time especially if the pay is small.
I second the dinner rush, I remain very confused at the "breakfast... rush?" logic. I never considered using door dash for breakfast until seeing these videos 🤣
@@anonymixx8106 Suppose there is a "breakfast" rush in some areas. It does seem odd. More people eat dinner than breakfast, so yo can't lose waiting for a dinner rush.

@E Moo In this scenario, I recommend taking a pic via the text feature and sending that to them before you complete the order to ensure this will never happen. Takes an extra 15 seconds but worth it. Always cover yourself with proof

@@SHOWTIMECLIPI'm surprised they mess around with the tip given the class action they settled because they were caught using tips to pay the base.
this is why you are supposed to decline orders, so you don't waste 20 mins delivering an order for someone who doesn't even have the respect to tip you for your time. i NEVER EVER take orders under $5 minimum. yes it feels bad to be picky and decline orders and sit for 10 mins with no action but you are wasting your time delivering for no-tippers when you could be available for a good order like your first one. usually when you first show up to an area you will get bombed with 5-10 really shit deliveries (no tip, $3 for 8 miles, shop and deliver etc) because all the drivers in the area have been declining those and bounding them around so they go to the first available person. i live in the midwest in a LCOL state and i make $20 minimum an hour. sometimes in a really good night i make $30. you just have to know what orders to take and which ones to say hell no to.
ever since they removed the option to dash where you end up after taking an order outside the starting zone i never went back lol. also now they penalize u if u have a lower acceptance rate, essentially forcing u to accept shitty $3 orders

"I'm at the KFC"
"I'm at the Taco Bell"
"I'm at the combination KFC and Taco Bell!"
As others have said, try to do it during the late afternoon or dinner time.
So here's what to do
- Do dinner time
- Do Peak Pay from when it starts till it stops (Example: 5:29-7:30 +$2.00 Work From 5:29-7:30)
- Don't stop and park waiting for an order. Drive around to find orders. Will save you time
IF i have anymore i'll let you know but i wish you the best of luck!
Love the non tipper who texts just leave it at the door.
What a piece of work. 😂

That order # 2 is exactly why I stopped being nice, cause the second you take a low order it evolves into some b.s.
That little like loading line at the end of the video with like your stats for the day was so satisfying lmao
I agree, I imagine after work hours when people are too tired to cook are gonna be the actual rush hours for doordash in a slow area
DoorDash is useful as a side gig, especially if you have the DasherDirect card... but yeah, I couldn't imagine trying to live off of DD alone.
Yeah doordash is the most unreliable source of income I've ever found.
These are my comfort videos on RUclips.
Well the best of luck. It gets easier for sure. I honestly love dashing. I have faith in you.
It was somewhere in the states. thank god you said no to that no tip 2.50$ order even if its just across the street dont waste your time for 2$-4$ orders half the time you still have to wait for the order to actually be ready and that 1 mile trip still takes 20-25 min when you could have just waited to accept a better offer. i only take orders 7$ n up within a 5 mile range and anything above 7 miles has to be over 12$ only accepting these offers my AR is at 12% but i make about 25n hour up to 40$ when its really good.
Do you multi app?
A few pointers:
-AR doesn't really matter as much.
Obviously some sanity needs to be inserted into this process (on Doordash's & the eatery's end).
I think it depends on your area. Also, lunch is sporadic. Some days will be busy and others slow. Evenings are more consistent.
Nah…Door Dash sucks
@@36GodMob At least in my area, it pays about the same as a pizza delivery place, except you don't have to do dishes and you can pick your own schedule. So I suppose it depends on what you're comparing it to.
I have watched all your videos over the years and am always hype to see a new one.
thanks :D
You did an awesome job following the rules! It looked really hard for you.
Your stress over picking orders is hilarious
I do Uber eats and it’s great! Lots of bonuses and you can get order while driving anywhere. I always Uber eats on my way home. I usually make about $25 in one hour to 1 1/2”
Me too! I do great here in Georgia . I stay mainly in the suburbs so not the city, rarely go to apartments and low mileage since restaurants tend to be close to the houses 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 I average $75-$150 day but with quests I can earn more

Good luck!

So with all that information it's obvious he isn't making a living on doordash getting supported buy a benefactor
@@ralphtom3431 not necessarily a benifactor. With RUclips and all of his other links he's probably pulling in a substantial income.
You're brave delivering to that police station. I would've passed out from nerves lol
😂😂
Do you have unpaid tickets? Or a warrant out for your arrest? Or intoxicated while driving? Why worry, Police are people too, and the staff needs to eat.
I think with DoorDash, IF you were looking for earlier times, you have yo think about the area.
For example, the best times for breakfast would be weekends, especially Sunday brunch around campuses. Lunches would probably only be popular near businesses on weekdays (typically around 11:30-1pm). But you'll get your bulk at dinner time; especially when their is a game/fight on.
man, I have never parked as far away from the restaurants as you do... ever
Doesn't want his Tesla scratches! Lol..
But the insurance company denied their claim cause of the reason above.
march has been the worst month for me. idk whats up but me and my friends who doordash have had bad luck with getting good money this month
I noticed the lunch shifts kind of suck.
When I door dash, I do evenings 4pm-like 9 or 10.
Good video.
Also, Uber won't let you see but you can see ahead of time if it's an apt complex on DD.
Delivering food in downtown Raleigh is a bad idea. Try Six Forks, North Hills, or the Brier Creek area.
Not tipping a delivery driver is a sin! leaving a $1 tip per mile is what i usually do. I use Uber eats because they have a proper GPS and communication with the driver. but these California fees are out of this world it sometimes hurts to tip
oh dang that's generous, I'd go bankrupt doing 5-10 dollar tips every order lol
If there's a promo, there's a good chance its only to get more drivers out JUST IN CASE they get busy. Not because they are actually busy. I learned to stop falling for it. Lol
Feel lucky dude. 2 weeks ago I got my first order since last thanksgiving. They only let you schedule 30 minute windows. You spend 15 minutes waiting on first order. Then you can’t extend your dash because it’s not busy. I dropped from $400 a week to $9 a week.. over 408 deliveries and a 96% acceptance rate 84% on time. Thank you jack in the box
yeah the whole scheduling thing is odd, it doesn't make any sense to me, coming from other apps
Before reading the title: Hooray! Alex uploaded!
After reading the title: Alex nO
In the metro Detroit area I can make anywhere from 20 to 50 an hour no problem. I haven't been to North Carolina in years but one of the apartments you went to looks crazy familiar
My cousin makes 100K a year doing door dash in San Francisco. He says the tech guys tip a lot. 40 to 50 hours a week is what he works.
The call back to the girl who hates shop and deliver is so funny 😂
It sucks that you didn't make much this time around, but your decision making seems to be improving! You were right to skip those low orders. If you want to do lunch time dashing again, I'd start at 12-12:30 as opposed to 11-11:30.
Forget Mike! Figure out what works for you. Another person's advice is good if they live in an area exactly like you do. If you live in small town USA and he lives in a much bigger city the same rules are not going to apply because you're not going to get so many orders
The girl also said she hates shopping delivery.
Use the dash by time in a good area...keep your acceptance rate up.. and get your 200 delivery out the way
Dash pay is terrible definitely need to circle back on that .. I wish I could do Uber 😩
I love these videos. My mom recently suggested i do those kinds of amazon deliveries that you did, so it's nice to see what the work is like. Keep up the good work :)
amazon flex is still the best of 'em all!
I did door dash 1 time. I don't like how it's not consistent how Uber eats is. I wanted the bag for Uber eats.
Where did you get your phone holder? I need a good one for my Tesla
We get 2.xx per order usually
There is technically a formula based on distance and order but the base pay from Doordash is VERY low... Like so low it will rarely even pay for running a vehicle.
Effectively all the actual income is tips. There are only so many dollars to go around when most people order single meals from fast food places. The model really isn't very sustainable and it's no wonder the company has never made money.
Ayeee I’m not too far from Raleigh either!! Also try Cary out or come out to Greenville
Do ubereats like doordash but better because like you said uber is back to back orders
I'm pretty sure McDonald's is like that
that'd make sense
Yep that's about how it goes in the door dash world. Sometimes it's hit or miss
Doordash sucks..I've been dashing since 2018. I dont drive a comfy Tesla around either 😅 last time I dashed I stayed out there for 7 hours to make $80
15:26 i burn too so i can smell the good stuff cant begin to tell you how many times this has happened lol
I only dash at night in my area. In areas with more tippers lunch will be fine, but usually not worth it. I got $120 in 3.5 hours for lunch in Richmond on a Thursday was fun, but a crazy hustle.
Doordash is the worst . I’m 500 deliveries in and it’s absolutely terrible compared to Uber eats for me
Really appreciate the progress bar under the overview sections! I normally get stressed not knowing how quickly I should be reading text in videos lmao
No orders under a certain amount and gratuity should be applied upon placing an order.
you got this, alex.
I love protractors
✊
doordash isnt what it was. maybe in some states , theyre still making money, but I live in florida for example where everyone and their grandma is a dasher and the orders this whole year has been such shit. alll day I get orders that are like $3 for 10 miles away or $6 for 15 miles away which is suuuuuchhhh a joke!!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND CAR , AT THIS POINT A NORMAL JOB IS BETTER THAN THIS SHIT
