I bought this box for the proven with the great flail. I use most of these models for pathfinder characters but it also helps that it’s a kick ass warband.
Great read- out on the Darkoath Savages! I loved the look of this Conan- type warband the moment I saw them, and while I have not hat the opportunity to play them yet, they're on my paint bench getting ready to hit some games. Your insights are very useful and I agree the range from spears is a must, that flail is tops, and the wild dice generation is such a great thematic inclusion- can't wait to get them on the field!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I love these guys. When I am going to play a game of Warcry, they have rapidly become my “go-to” faction that I pull out by default. Enjoy your first games!
Nice! Red Harvest was my first Warhammer box painted to completion. Two warbands. Sick terrain. It was a heck of a project. So much metallic trim on the damn terrain. I followed Lee's (@tabletopskirmishgames) tutorial for the terrain. I look forward to watching this video. I have sort of put Warcry on the backburner but I want to check this out. Listening to your videos and @thesaltysea have opened my eyes to the nuances of different warbands. I was a little bit perturbed about how each warband didn't really have standout passive unique abilities but with some understanding and system mastery it becomes more clear. Still learning the game!
I missed out on first edition sadly but I’ve heard good things about the Red Harvest set! Warcry - especially the bespoke warbands - fall into the trap of looking like fancy dudes in fancy armour, which makes some of the kits visually very similar. The mechanics however, are diverse and interesting and really help make the game sing whilst keeping it mostly straightforward and to the point.
N Finished going through every video, I'm so getting into Warcry soon. Would love to see Untamed Beasts soon, the harpoon ability looks really appealing from the outside!
as with most warbands, including with the darkoath, i bought an extra set so i can field all the options, including two different slaughterborn and more proven. the extra wild dice potential is also very fun with any terrain interaction requiring ability dice.
I recently played this team, and even if I didn't really win, I actually had a lot of fun playing this warband. (i'm still fresh in learning to strategize and play the game right) the slaughterborn axe is the MVP, taking out my opponent's stormcast leader with 1 turn and the (Quad) Deathblow ability. this triggered me to play more of this team.
That sounds like on heck of an epic kill. Stormcast are chonky boys, so it’s all good to see them get chopped up by a great big axe! I love the the Darkoath. They are a lot of fun and not many factions can do what they do, even if what they do is a bit on the greedy side.
I LOVE the Ogroid in this list. You don’t lose anything, and gain so much. Like, you cut the worth unique model and, imo, the worst versions of your chaff, for an excellent Ally. You retain all of your factions key abilities and models and have a beefy boy on top. Such a natural fit.
As long as the fomoroid isn’t more expensive, otherwise you’d need to wiggle the points around a bit more to squeeze him into a smooth 1000. The Fomoroid would absolutely work though. Big, tough, strong, and has some sweet abilities. A good fit
@@wargamesontoast Fomorid is 260 points, compared to 265 for the Myrmidon. You lose 1 range, but you gain 5 wounds and 1 strength. I think both are awesome options! :)
I am feeling rather Tzeentchy. Compendium Factions are a bit harder to cover due to the sheer bulk of rules and data sheets, but I’ll put them on the list. Love me some Tzeench

They are a pretty snazzy looking warband for sure!

I did it Lee‘s way, too. So much work! 🤦🏻 looks great though.
@@wargamesontoast I‘m reaching the point where I really have to consider my color choices so I don’t have too many similar looking factions 😅

Untamed Beasts are deffo going to be soon! I love those guys

This is solid advice for most warbands for sure - especially the 1st edition ones with limited build options.
Get well soon!
Thanks bud!

Thanks! I’ll be right as rain in no time, I’m sure! Hopefully it didn’t impact the video too much!
@@wargamesontoast No, was completely fine :)
Another awesome video!

I know I posted on another episode to do iron golems next, but I am curious to see if spider dudes are still viable
I’ve just bought the spider dudes so they will be appearing soon for sure!
Great video
My first ever game was with these chads
These guys are rocking the squarest of jaws
I look forward to the day of a hedonites of slaaanesh deep dive 😁. Also get well soon!
Oooooh I needed an excuse to buy some of those sexy slaanesh models…
Would Fomoroid Crusher work instead of the Ogroid? Similarly priced

These guys look great, but I already play Khorne Bloodbound.
I don’t know too much about Bloodbound, but I’ll plonk them on the list for factions to cover in the future!
