Iagon was what I first tested and invested in cardano other than just swapping tokens. Minswap was where I put those tokens, and to date it's gone up about 4x in just over some months. I had forgot what the token was even about, and so this is super exciting. This is an actual real world application and use of a digital money. Congrats to the team, and the entire Cardano eco system as well. More real world will come to fruition in 2024, and will probably be utilizing this system as well. Gr8! Peace ☮💜

It doesn't do compute yet, so you won't be able to do the database server side of things but with our CardanoPress plugin, at least you will be able to offload assets and use Iagon as a decentralised CDN. That will help with the server costs. When they release the compute side, then you will be able to do the other side of things for DB and server side execution. It's something I'm looking forward to.
Hey, great coverage of the iagon storage network and you answered most of the questions i had. But one question i still have is around data loss? How do they protect against it? And also if someone is hosting sharded data on their hard drive and they go offline for some reason, is the whole data now corrupted and inaccessable? Very curious to know what happens in this case
The shards are shared across multiple storage spaces. I recall it was three. So if users have signed up for 10TB of storage. They will need to provide 30TB of storage for redundancy and decentralisation of that data. I’ll have to check that for you but I’m pretty sure that’s it. They have a compression mechanism that reduces the space required.
I think for future-proofing this could be an issue with storing things like inappropriate media. Sharding the data means things can be stored with no accountability. Besides the ethical concerns, I'm not sure regulators are going to be thrilled about this...
@LearnCardano well I'm currently setting up on Arweave. They have essentially said that since nobody is required to store any parts of the blockweave they don't want to, that it's up to the miners to police what they store. This would include data protection in the locale they operate from.
What's the major difference between iagon and IPFS? Also doesn't the these service tend to centralise the storage infrastructure to favour those who are capable of providing an enormous amount of storage space.
It would lean towards those that can provide high quality service. Fast internet speed, fast read and write of the disk, over 90% up time and a lot of IAG staked by the provider. If you have money and knowledge you will be a good provider. I tried providing storage from home. My internet does meet the requirements. So it excludes me and many others like me but I wouldn’t want to use a service for data storage provided by me. It would be shit.

Not yet, not multiple to ADA, only ADA to multiple tokens.
I would hope to see a new compression mechanisms so that data stop getting gigantic. But for now it's ok.

I think the protocol is brilliant. Not much in 2023 in terms of developments. Token might have reached its ATH at its launch.
