    Thomas Blug was doing this back in 2014. He’s the master of the small amp that sounds like a valve monster.
    It was obvious the big brands would follow in time. It’s a bit like the Tiny Terror launching the lunchbox category of small amps designed to be cranked.
    AMP1 fans should be proud.

    The default Reverb can adjusted via the Architect software. To be a global setting on the unit. There’s a choice of Room, Spring & Plate. With control over decay and tone.
    Room comes as a standard default reverb.
    Loads more decay available if desired 👍🏼

    Floor units are en vogue and as an amp manufacturer you need to have one these days in your offering. When one listens carefully to both it seems for them hard to find some compelling USPs for this product. From all the YT channels out there, Andertons reviews are amongst the best and certainly beyond compare to those from individual influencers. Good work. Have a nice day.

    I love Anderton's videos and reviews. Always very entertaining and informative.
    I have a gripe though. Not about Anderton's, but about the increasing amounts of gear that require an app on your phone to operate. At this moment, unless it's specifically for pc I would rather not buy a piece of gear that requires a phone app to fully realize. A part of me feels like companies are going increasingly app based as a way to access your lucrative personal info and then sell it.
    Also, I don't like the idea of needing good reception, good WiFi, or waiting for an app to load properly to play my guitar. That's just wrong!

    Interesting. I find this product a bit confusing though. Is it a pretty limited modeler with a power amp? Or, is it a clean power amp to hook up to your digital modeler? I guess it's sort of both but overpriced for the 2nd use. You can buy a clean 100W stereo solid state power amp for less than $50.

    Wow, finally a pedal amp that checks 99% of my boxes. The manual says the USB out gives you L and R in the CabRig simulator (to your DAW); too bad the FX loop is mono; a stereo loop is the only thing I wish had been included. But that's a small issue. I can't wait to get one!!!

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Год назад

      I have their Club 40 tube amp- I'm not really happy with it right now tbh. I was stoked when I first got it because it's my first tube amp and just hearing how much better it sounds on a clean channel- blew me away. Idk if you're familiar with tube amps but what ppl say about how they add something that you can't put your finger on- sort of true. Imo you can put your finger on it- they add natural compression, a much richer low end, and harmonic resonance that's lacking in solid state amps- which sound very sterile in comparison. That said, once I got over the initial honeymoon period and started trying to really dial in like a light breakup tone- I found out this isn't nearly as easy as I thought. Every boost I try creates some kind of artifact or anomaly I don't want and can't seem to get rid of. And even when I do- it just doesn't sound good. I can get like a low gain tone that's o.k.- but I can't get light breakup through the preamp tubes, nor can I find a decent high gain tone. They have a "hi gain" voicing on the built-in overdrive but- it cuts the low end and sounds super pokey. In short- if you want great clean tones, low gain tones- this amp does it- but everything else= meh.

      @@stoneysdead689 try speakers with a lower wattage rating mate. ie, if you use v30 or creamback (60 or 65/75watt), try alnico blue or greenbacks (15/25watts). i promise youll get break up, the speaker has too much headroom. honest genuine advice that i hope helps get the most out of your amp!

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Год назад

      @@terrybanks5063 Oh it breaks up- that's not the issue- the issue is getting it to breakup and sound good. There's this odd sort of artifact in the background that I can't seem to get rid of, almost sounds like something vibrating inside the amp maybe. I think maybe my tubes are not seated correctly- and they're vibrating when too much juice is put through them? I've heard other ppl talk about this issue and it's about all I can come up with. But really, even if you got rid of that- it still doesn't sound that good- you're not getting the complex harmonic structure you hear from really good tube amps in light breakup. It sounds too muddy and dark. Someone told me that Blackstar amps don't get their distortion via the tubes clipping the signal like a traditional tube amp- they get it through some other means of clipping, and I'm starting to see why, I think. I don't think the tubes they use sound that great when they clip the signal.
      That said- I have a Blackstar HT Distortion pedal that uses the same tube as my preamp uses- I'm going to boost into it and see if maybe that sounds better. But here's the thing- I opened it up and sure enough- there are clipping diodes in there- the tube isn't clipping the signal in that pedal either. It's got Jfets and Mosfets in it- and I bet this amp is designed the exact same way. The tube is used as an amplifier but not as a means of clipping signal. In fact- when I boost into the preamp, I may not even be hitting the tube- I may be hitting those diodes and overdriving them instead. Because the tube is so early in the circuit- nothing has boosted your signal yet when you hit the tube- it boosts your signal though and then it hits those diodes and gets clipped. I assume they did this to reduce cost, these are relatively cheap amps compared to other tube amps. They have digital reverb on them to- it sucks.

    Lee, the powerstage 200 is $499 usd. It's got many of the features, minus the power amp modeling. It's 200 watts class d as well. That would be the closest competition from Seymour Duncan. There is always the Orange pedalbaby as well. The pedal baby is $400 USD. It's 100 watts class A/B. It's got the standard orange single knob eq and volume. As a powerstage 200 owner, I'd much prefer the orange just because of the Class difference. Not sure if this blackstar unit is class D or A, A/B, it'd be nice to see a shoot out for modeling units.

    For me the Simplifier De Luxe beats this into a cocked hat. No app. required, 3 reverb options which are stunning. It's all analog (except the reverb) and it sounds just insane. It's stereo, mono, dual channel, dual amp etc. Headphone out, monitor out line out, 2 line in, audio in and so on. Oh, and its cheaper!

    There’s a separate reverb control (decay tail and reverb type) in the settings in the software. I know, stupid, but at least it’s there.

    LOL- Wow, I have a Blackstar Club 40 amp and a Blackstar HT distortion pedal- both of which have ECC83 preamp tubes in them- the amp runs EL34s in the power section, Ecc83s in the preamp. But yeah- this sounds better imo- I would rather have this and a good set of FRFR speakers. Or- actually I just need to get an audio interface and some good monitors and run it through that. That way I can record with it, apply plug ins to it, jam along with backing tracks, etc. and have it all coming through the same speakers.
    But I can't buy an audio interface for running into great deals on amps- all the sudden there are cheap amps everywhere. I'm about to buy an old Orange Pro 60R, not the newer crush 60 which has 1 speaker- this is the old Pro 60R which has two 60watt, twelve-inch Bulldogs in it and on-board reverb- for 200 bucks. Man, I would pay that much just for the speakers in it- but everything works. Yeah, it's solid state but- it's Orange- one of the best solid-state amps ever made.

    Question: Would this be useful with a Multi Fx that specifically used amp and cab simulations?
    It's hard to find right solution when using a Headrush or Fractal.
    FRFR is okay, but just not cutting through the sound in rehearsal and live on a stage for me.
    Tried the Power Amp in a Fender amp which gave better results.

    • @AdamManley7
      @AdamManley7 Год назад

      Just try a bunch of FRFR112 think about it if one is basically like a combo you’d need 4 to really get that 4X12 thump

    • @IAmSteveMarks
      @IAmSteveMarks Год назад +3

      If you’re looking for the feel of a real guitar cabinet on stage, and you enjoy your amp and cab sims on the multi fx that you have, then simply choose the Flat voicing & Linear response and you’re good to go. That would be a neutral flat platform for such a scenario. FRFR are great but many players miss a real guitar can tone. You could use anything that has 8 or 16 ohms. It could be a 1 x 12, 2 x 12 or 4 x 12.
      Nice and easy & it sounds phenomenal 👍🏼

    An amp company should make a EurAmp next, instead of going down the tired el84/6l6 route, maybe north/west/Central/eastern Europe, being able to instantly get a British, Swedish etc tone/gain stage.

    Break this Amped 1 out plus the Tonex pedal, and see how it sounds through a cabinet. Then break out a Seymour Duncan PowerStage or two, and test them with the Tonex pedal through a cabinet, please. I already own cabinets and the Tonex but don't own studio monitors or FRFR speakers yet. A power amp would be more cost effective for me at this time but I have no clue which to buy.
