This is incredible. This should be the norm for living, not the exception. 🤯🥺
This is the first documentary I make. Besides the fact that it took a lot of work and time to create, it is a particularly significant publication for me and this project called What a shame Mary Jane. I'll explain why in the first part of tomorrow's livestream at 12 pm NY time.
I have a feeling you've always wanted to make something like this. I'm glad you're finding ways to convert dreams into reality. 🙂
@@vdayucla That's a very accurate feeling :D
how do i get info to join the community?
@@christianhansen3292 I'm afraid the indoor space they have is full at the moment, but you can definitely get in contact with them. The links are in the description.
Awesome job!
We (Jason and Kat) at The Healing Farm have the SAME EXACT VISION and are in the process of starting our little village in western washington state!!!! We have ten acres and have already gotten pigs, turkeys, and chickens. It's so inspiring to hear there are others doing the same thing! :)
I Live in Utah I would love to come visit your little farm and see what you’re doing and help out. Because that is my dream also. I have been doing PermaCulture and raising chickens and rabbits in the city to practice!.
I’m in PDX and am hatching a similar plan. I’m new to this and would love to visit and talk with you if that’s something you’re ever open to. Namaste!
Let me guess: another white only community in the countryside?
@@bobjob3632 And?
@@bobjob3632 how does somebody’s skin colour have any relevance to this intentional community ideology? All different colours of people are welcome to do this. There is no criteria…
I live alone. Garden, build, split wood, find peace amidst a depressing car-culture machine raping suburban racket nightmare. A little piece of paradise like you have. Kudos to you for getting others on the right track.
It doesn't even feel like 40 minutes. You're essentially a documentary filmmaker. You did a great job of capturing the essence of this place and what they stand for. Self-sustaining communities like this one can really help become models for the world, especially in this period in our human history like you said. When Tristan said this place can change the world I truly believe that. The future is grim for humans and nature if WE let the government (UN) be in charge of reducing human consumption. Power to the people: this is the greatest example.
Greatest? What is not so great?
Love it. Yu ve created a vision and brought it to life and now have shared it to inspire others! Great that it involves family as well as heartfelt shared purpose and relationship. People are starting to feel the lack of purpose in their lives and forming their own societies.
Mary, this was wonderfully done- beautifully shot, edited, and told. The forty minutes felt like five, and near the end I was disappointed it was almost over. That's always a very good sign. You have a talent for capturing the natural world in all of its splendor on camera. And the story told by the people you talked to did give me an impression of what it must feel like to be there- calm, hopeful, renewed. One of the qualities I love about you is that you accept people as they are without cynicism, you immediately see the good in them and want to celebrate it. They clearly trusted you to tell their story; they could not have asked for anyone better.
If you think about it, including the videos you've already released and the ones remaining in this series, you have a full feature-length documentary's worth of material here. Or a docuseries, if you like. You may not want to take any credit, but the exposure from this doc will probably help them raise what they need to expand. Just another way your work is making a difference. The seeds of your trip have produced great fruit. Hopefully you can keep us updated. By the way, can I suggest leaving a link in the description above to the livestream discussion you did so that people can find that easily- I think everyone who watches this video should see that next. I'll link it here anyway. ruclips.net/video/Zy4zH6u4vqE/видео.html
I really hope that these sympathic and friendly people can continue their way of life and bring their massage to the people. The world needs more of these positive people. M.J. , you get better with every video, this one was great. Thank you for that.
Thanks Johannes.
What a beautiful experience! Thanks Mary J. for your incredible efforts: the editing, the music choice, the people and the place itself.. it's all pure magic. Honestly, your passion is really something valuable! :)
God loves young people. What a beautiful documentary, Mary Jane. Each and every participant has a loveliness about them. Nick is a "David", truly "a man after God's own heart". Nick's open heart and love for people will turn his vision into a reality. Thanking you for sharing.
What a breath of fresh air! Thanks for making this video and showing us 9-5 people some hope. Starting from small things like proper recycling, reducing waste, educating people around etc. We can all make a change!
Mary Jane, what a beautifully done video of an amazing place. Mankind is hurtling towards self destruction with our lifestyles and places like this one may be all that will save us from ourselves. We consume too much and produce too much waste such as plastic and CO2. The Sacred Nectar Sanctuary is turning all that around with their many and varied projects. We need to eat and have a roof over our heads... everything beyond that is mostly gravy. Great bunch of people there. Thank you for making this documentary. Loved it. I am a vegetarian and that vegetable garden was making me drool. haha
You summarized the concept perfectly, I really have nothing to add or to precise. I totally agree with you. I have confidence that mankind will be able to reset itself and find a new development that includes modern technological improvements with that lifestyle in harmony with nature that we've always had for thousand of years. This place is just one of the many examples of how the new generations of humans are going in that direction. We just need to "spread the word", educate and inform more and more people.
Mary Jane! Fantastic video. My mantra that I have adhered to since 1972 is "Directness of purpose, self reliance, simplicity of life." Good luck with your new project. I will share.
I have the same vision, live in Sweden, we are about to start an ecovillage
Good luck with that! Maybe one day I'll come make a video about your village too ;)
@@WhatashameMaryJane yes you are so welcome
You have a true heart and soul of a fantastic film maker,Bravo!
Thomas Jefferson envisioned a nation of Yeoman Farmers ..Jefferson advocated that the United Stated to be founded on an agrarian ideology !!! Thank you Mary Jane for the great video ...
You did a great job editing this video. Mary Jane. Very enlightening and positive. I enjoyed it very much. I would like to visit it once this madness is over.. See you on the next one.
For camping I think they'll be always open, I just saw on their Instagram that they set up a big tent with bed and fireplace and private sauna in one of their campgrounds. It looked pretty amazing. For helping out, from March they're going to need help in the garden for sure.
such a beautiful video Mary Jane, it was very inspiring to get to know about this project, thank you for sharing!
So glad to hear that you guys are in the beginning stages of building another one of these types of communities. The more, the better. I live in Tennessee, and I don't know why, but the beauty of the natural world in New England just seems to do something to my heart! More so than the South where I live. I've never been anywhere in New England, but I have an affinity for it.
That is a beautiful looking place. It may sounds strange to some, but when I began gardening and working the land, so much changed in my life. I became a happier in many, many ways.
Hey Thank you for making this documentary! Showcasing ecovillages and communities like this are exactly the kind of content that needs to be made! There simply isint enough ecovillage content out there right now so I want to say thank you again for your work on this! well done
Happy to hear we're on the same page!
Great storytelling and editing Mary Jane! You really poured your heart and soul into this project and you should be very proud of this outstanding documentary that you created.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words 🙏
It feels ecstatic even listneing to you guys. I am very much interested to establish such a community.
Great documentary on an alternative sustainable living community in a beautiful part of the United States. Thank you for making this Mary Jane.
Such a wonderful video, MJ. Your editing and choice of music was excellent. It was great learning about Nick and his dreams for the farm. The place is so tranquil and gorgeous. Will send a donation to support their hard work!
Thank you Judith!!!
I hope this spreads and gets popular statewide in every state. So Inspiring
Hi Mary Jane, I took a while to get around to watching this video, as it was a bit longer than many of my regular subscribed video's, so I was eagerly awaiting a suitable moment to absorb this!.
I'm glad I did so though, before reading through any comments (including your own), to potentially slant my perception of what I truly thought.
So, here's my completely open minded, and individual opinion of what you produced.
Firstly I have to say, that this was evidently a much more carefully planned, and executed video than I have seen from you before.
I give you a hell of a lot of credit for how you made this video turn out, and I can only hope that something very good comes of it, in either one way or another.
I was marveling at how you edited all this footage, and was pondering at how much time this must have taken... it really was, so professionally done!.
When you described it as a documentary, this was in fact very accurate as to what it was, and I'm sure that the people at 'Sacred Nectar Sanctuary', would have been thrilled with the result.
The main guy Nick, behind the project, is an impressive individual, because he is like the conductor of an orchestra, who has the overall vision, but doesn't impose his will on what everyone else is doing.
He treats his vision more as an organic experiment, and encourages everyone to participate, and grow this vision with him.
I guess it's a fine line trying to keep everything from falling apart, but I think he has the people skills, to keep to the original idea of what he created.
As I said before, I hope something really good comes of this exposure that you've given them, and that it will not go unnoticed, that a certain Italian film maker, gains exposure from this as well!.
this is inspiring and i want to visit...i purchased a tiny holding during the pandemic and found a community of like minded souls in Cobden, IL. i call my place The Cobden Cottage ... its a mini version of what Nick is doing here - I def want do workaway and learn from these fine farmers and carpenters

I am so thankful for this video! It really touched me, this vision is full of love and peace. Wonderful. :)
I loved this. This is exactly how we are supposed to live. Be one with nature and live peacefully together as friends.
Very inspiring!. I found this video after searching , how to start eco village . Would you share what should be the initial steps to gather people on same idea of eco village..
Nick is a great guy - shares vision and ressources with other tolerant people. Lets be all more like him.
I really loved this video, thanks for sharing this, I really want to come there and help. I'm surely coming, soon, I hope... thank you

Great video, thank you. This is a wonderful example of a cohousing community forming organically.

thanks for introducing workaway, i hope i can find something to do on the weekends and/or after work in my area , which is semi rural with lot of farms .
I honestly had no idea what he was doing, I just thought it would make for a cool shot. Then I discovered that that’s the only motorized tool he uses in the garden.
@@WhatashameMaryJane yeah, im sure they can just rent a bob cat for a day if they need it, 1 man job. check out kirsten dirksens channel
Sacred Nectar seems like it is in a fairly remote place. How would a workawayer without a car or access to a rent-a-car get there? Do they provide a shuttle service that would pick someone up at the nearest bus stop? Where is the nearest bus depot to the sanctuary?
Hi Tina. I actually have no precise answer for you. I'm pretty sure there is no public transportation that arrives there, but if you wanted to do a workaway there I'm sure someone could come pick you up by car in one of the towns nearby. Meredith could be a good option for that, it's a very touristy town so I'm sure there is good public transport there and it's a place where the residents of the Sanctuary so quite often to purchase groceries.
Love these people! Doing the same thing in Hawai'i!
Hilo over here!! Pretty rare to run into another Hawaiian in here. Been gardening for years now but only since covid hit have I really stepped it up. I just hope the world can switch their minds into a sustainable mindset. Whether it be a full blown off grid living or just have a backyard garden to harvest food for their families to enjoy and not be fully dependent on a grocery store. For me, it’s all of the above and more....... THERAPY!!🙏🏼🤙🏼 Aloha
@@simplysimple7628 Brah i'm Hilo side too! My goal is to grow 98% of my food and trade for things I can't grow well. It is therapy and I feel so much love from nature
@@LK-yb2mj Aloha brutha and goodluck to you and all you cherish in life. Much love and aloha👍🏼🙏🏼🤙🏼
These people are doing things right. The system today has based its importance on materials. The expensive cars, big house, brand name clothing, jewelry, etc. Think about it...... to maintain that status is just stressful. This video shows how simplicity and sustainability is the way. It’s basically the best and only way to fix it all. Stress, poor health, etc. will disappear. Boredom will turn into a productiveness that most don’t know about. 🤙🏼👍🏼🙏🏼 Much love and aloha from Hawaii.
Yep, but big corporations wouldn't make as much profit if all the people realized that simplicity and sustainability are easy fix for most of our problems. Aloha!

@@WhatashameMaryJane this Is my Sentiment also
I just found this, what a great place and vision. What happened with the house next door? Were they able to buy it?
Unfortunately it was bought by someone from the city, but I think they are in good relationship.
i am a back to the earth child of the 70's just now getting back to the land that I dreamed about. Wish I could find community members like all of you. Thanks for doing this. It's an encouraging video.
Thank you Jean.
Where do you live?
Is it still welcoming to somebody to join the community? How is it? For lease, buy a space or what?
You should contact them and ask them directly.
Predator guard lights, they are solar little red flashing lights, that deters predators.
Happy people 👏🤙
"There will be more places like this. Millenials don't have the wealth and won't get the wealth."
You got several million in assets, including machinery, built buildings, working infrastructure and so on. I too wish that this kind of lifestyle would spread, but you were really, really lucky to simply get all the things for basically free.
First, Nick inherited all this from his father and so do thousands of other millennials in the US. As for the other millennials using these assets, they're not owners and can still benefit from them. That's the point of having a community.
Second, living like this is expensive in the US because of the type of economy, but it's not as expensive in other countries. In my home country for example living in the country is so much cheaper than living in the city.
@@WhatashameMaryJane Not many people inherit such a good opportunity with so many assets.
It's a good lifestyle and I wish the community all the best. Only that this kind of start is not very replicable, because it was based on very unlikely circumstances.
@@DoubleBob I literally just explained you how it IS, replicable.
@@WhatashameMaryJane sadly I think you're mistaken when you say that "thousands" of millennials are inheriting properties like this. I grew up in rural farm country and am a real estate agent. Most oldee farmers with small family farms are dirt rich but money poor, so they either go into bankruptcy trying to maintain a lifestyle that is a dying breed or they sell in order to have some semblance of retirement to live out their days on. Corporate company farms or developers buy them out. Perhaps not in the whole country, but here in Wisconsin it's a huge problem.
@@tammystrey1951 That's so sad to hear. Perhaps in the US countryside the situation is completely different than in my country, Italy.
This is amazing how do I become a part of it

Great work on the video Mary Jane, I just watched it in one sitting! The editing was well done, and I enjoyed the overlays of the names/job titles of who was speaking. My main motivation for watching was to support the passion you expressed in making it during your live stream.
As for the community itself, it was interesting. It's not somewhere I would see myself immersing in, but I love seeing how others feel right at home and at peace there (everyone you interviewed). With some of the skills they individually have, you could see the potential for it to be something of a trade school one day, for people to learn those skills in a stress-free environment. Thank you for all the effory, MJ!
Billions of people around the world put most of their energy into the mainstream system day after day, and all that energy accomplishes 2 main things, if we look at the big picture: 1) keeping the system itself afloat; business as usual, for the sake of business as usual (hey, gotta keep the money monster up and running, no matter what that entails, and no matter how harmful to humans, animals, and the earth it may be), and 2) appeasing the desires of the super-rich and powerful. It's that simple; those are the 2 main "payoffs" of all this societal effort. It has very little to do with the quality of life or well-being of the very people whose blood, sweat and tears keep the system afloat--the billions of hard working lower and middle and even upper class citizens who break their backs to be the backbone of a broken system--so what's the point, really? I'm not even anti-conformity or anti-system or anti-capitalism or whatever, but I just don't see the point of putting so much effort into living so miserably. Most people do not like their jobs, most are bogged down by too much work including not just their jobs but also house chores, raising kids all on their own, etc...I could go on and on, but I digress. Intentional communities seem to be a much better option, in theory. (I've never tried living at one yet, so to me it's just a theory so far...but this is one theory that makes a hell of a LOT of sense.) So...rock on, community peoples! 😁😀❤

I found this video searching for co-housing. This is a beautiful concept, but I see the same concern here that I do in nearly every co-housing community - lack of diversity. What are you doing to encourage or seek out diversity?
Hi Shannon, thanks for the insightful comment! As an Italian, I wouldn't understand this question, as I believe every person is different and unique. But now I've lived enough time in the US to think that maybe you refer to diversity in ethnicity and social status?
@@WhatashameMaryJane Yes, exactly. It's a beautiful concept but everyone is white. Is there an effort made to be more inclusive?
@@shannonhathaway4293 I honestly don’t know how to answer this question, as I’m very foreign to the American problems with racism. All I can do is to guarantee that the community I’ve met was very inclusive also of people who did not share their core values. I couldn’t imagine them not accepting a person, unless it was for safety reasons (mental illness or substance abuse).
