That tunnel clip was in Norfolk VA. Now keep in mind- There's multiple overheight sensors, at least 5 clearance warning signs with yellow flashing lights, and a truck pulloff area that you gotta pass by before you go into that tunnel, so that guy had warnings all day long that he deliberately ignored. From the look of the damage to the ceiling, he went in there full-speed too. Unreal
Likely he caused 10's of $1000's of damage, caused a massive traffic jam, and got shamed on BHT. I worked for a government agency (PANYNJ) that operated tunnels (Lincoln & Holland) and saw claims and lawsuits filed against truck operators who went into them with over height loads for damages done to the tunnels. Rip out ceiling tiles, control lights on the ceiling, the costs for yanking the truck out, police OT.
It's been 25 yrs since I hauled flatbed, but hauling forklifts, small backhoes, Bobcats, paid real good, I'd spend extra care making sure the product got to the customer unharmed to keep getting the good freight. Guess not today.

I used to work at Yan Feng car interiors in Harrison township Michigan, the door that goes to shipping and receiving has a sign that says "no flip flops, this is a place of business"
In a video a long time ago on this channel a yard driver flipped a trailer over going backward. My explanation as a former yard driver included the teeter totter effect of a fifth wheel as you approach 90 degrees while backing up. In the first video in this post you see that teeter totter effect plainly.
Hasn't happened to me but I've seen it happen to other drivers... When you try to back up at a near-90 with a spread-axle flatbed and you're loaded heavy, the center of gravity will cause a weight imbalance and you'll flip right over on your side if you're not careful.. ESPECIALLY with something high-centered like a coil.
Whenever I pass another rig, I make sure I can see both of his headlights (or his entire front grille) in my passenger side mirror before I come back over on him to complete the pass. Yesterday alone I had half a dozen big time twuck driberz come over on me way too soon. All I could see in front of me was their friggin' barn doors. Shame on the mess.
Used to be when a truck passed you, you flashed your headlights when they were clear. Then the passing truck would flash his clearance lights to say thank you. What happened to those days?

The pull out problem is because drivers don’t realize their fleet trucks are detuned, they are automatic and they can’t get out if their own smoke. I think during a physical it should me mandatory also to check depth perception.
Yup my work just got rid of its last manual. Most of the stuff is smaller Allison's and they are ok but the shitterbilt daycab I sometimes drive is an Eaton ultrashift 18 and I yell at it constantly cause it takes off like 1-2 seconds after you hit the throttle and shifts slow af. I could have shifted a manual 18 six times in the time it shifts twice. If I'm trying to inch ahead it lurches and is still pulling while my foot is already back on the brake sometimes. I absolutely hate it.
I remember when i was a kid i saw a truck stuck under a bridge ! there were police and wreckers and gapers everywhere trying to figure it all out ! I told one of the responders why dont you just let the air out the tires ? He looked at me and said thats genius ! They let the air out and freed it up and out ! Got a free mountian dew and a pat on da back ! 😛
I maybe with a mega carrier for 8 months now, definitely wear my jeans and boots anywhere now, I may drive an automatic(sadly) which makes me feel like a steering wheel holder (which I kinda am sadly) but I FOR SURE use common sense and haven’t hit shit nor am I planning on it

A little known fact, drivers are required to leave half their brain at dispatch as a deposit for a prime trailer.
Dispatchers would be jealous that the driver had half a brain
1:48 better be careful in Louisville Ike, i hear forbes ranked it as the seventh worst city to drive in
The ELD has caused so many of these problems with missed exits, speeding and tailgating
Eld do not cause human error,HUMANS do

That first video 😂
4:34 and this happened right in front of me heading to the truck. 🤦🏾♂️
Wow 😱
I maybe with a mega carrier for 8 months now, definitely wear my jeans and boots anywhere now, I may drive an automatic(sadly) which makes me feel like a steering wheel holder (which I kinda am sadly) but I FOR SURE use common sense and haven’t hit shit nor am I planning on it
Is earning 5 vacation days in 6 months considered good now? I earn 30 pto days a year plus 1 safety day every quarter at the company I drive for.
When you act like bonehead at the shippers you get bonehead rates
