So, if I understand correctly, first you find a tree free of decay and diseaseso that your tree house will last a long time. Then you cut into it and put nails and screws so that it will get decay and disease. That makes a lot of sense.

Not to mention drill holes into the trunk, cut out pieces of the trunk, strip the bark so the trunk of the tree is open to all sorts of attacks? This is not damaging and is life extending?
Should have left room at the joints for the tree to grow. You can use rubber seals at the joints and boots to go around limbs. Plus heating up an area of the trunk that big will make the tree think it is summer and take it out of hibernation and most likely kill it.
Yep. The captions repeatedly said they were taking care as not to harm the tree. I guess the drilled out holes, cut sides, screws, and cut limbs don't count.
Only to end up killing the tree from hacking and drilling and nailing into it. Such disconnection from nature and from reality is a common mental illness today.
As nice as it is, it's not gonna last 10 years, before the tree's growth destroys it.. You don't cut into the tree and nail railes, you need spacers that allows the tree to grow, and butting floor into the tree, same thing as the tree grows it will destroy it, there are methods that allows the tree to grow and still have a strong secure attachment to the tree.. Go look how "The Treehouse Guy" does it..
I agree - A lot of hard work, and well constructed stuff, to end up looking like an outhouse up in a dead tree. Could have used an architect for a decent design.

That's absolutely fantastic! I love it! Beautiful work!
That's a lot of work for something that's going to shift over time. The tree will grow, getting bigger, displacing the structure. Not to mention the damage that's done to the tree as it's made.
That tree is NOT going to keep growing. He's essentially "ringed" it, taking the bark off all the way around it kills a tree by cutting off its water supply. I don't know if it was already dead before starting. But - It's a dead tree now.
one thing about a rigid made tree house is sooner or later wind will flex the tree and damage \destroy it. i had an idea to find at least 3 preferably 4 trees the configuration and size you want, cut the tops off and use either semi tires or tractor tires and cables to build the base on, then raise the base with a pully system secure it and build the rest. this will flex with the wind and allow a lot more flexability
@@DerekBrown-ij5ts No you are not confused. Not only is it dead, it's been that way for a long time by the look of it. There's also three foot vertical split from the ground up, which is not a good sign.
Do you know that humans cut down around 41 million trees each day? I see a lot of people lamenting in the comment section, but how many of you have a decent amount of trees around you? Have you ever planted a tree in your life? Have you ever tried to save even one tree from being cut down? Before you comment, take a look at your own surroundings-trees were used to build the very house you live in. Isn’t that something to reflect on? Many people act like they care about trees on social media, without understanding the reality. If you truly love trees, go out and do something about it instead of just complaining online.
All these ridiculous comments about the tree coming from people that write on paper every single day get over it. We cut down 12 million Acres every single day. I don't think a guy building a treehouse and damaging one tree is going to impact much

It appears the tree was already dead. But how long is it going to stay up when it's already rotting underground and all this extra weight has been added? As long as the condition of the tree is monitored and managed, it should be good.
a lot of work and money for a short life span this is going to have. tress are constantly moving. the polls you put are not. the tree is going to rot, and it will get pulled apart by the wind. Then all you have left is a vary dangerous pice of crap you will have to spend a weekend with your buddies Tearing down. we made a hunting cabin 19 feet of the ground over 25 years ago. we used old scaffolding welded it together and cemented it into the ground. made a stair case up the middle. used the old green treaded lumber and painted it flat back after the wood dried. 3:42 - And in this shot, you see where we’ve sawed of two (at least) HUGH branches to make room for the treehouse. This further hastens the death of the tree. 4:01 - Here we jam the boards up against the tree branch, ensuring the tree won’t be able to grow and expand, this hastening the tree’s downfall. 11:57 - Now here you see is bringing in the handmade furniture, then, @ 11:59 we have to take it all out to install the moisture barrier and then of course, the flooring.
Tallest tree house my butt. 60 years ago, at 11 years old me and my younger brother built a tree house 35 feet up. Used a rope to climb up. And added a "shoot shoot" as they were called then, now known as a zip line running to ground level from it. Granted this guy has nicer carpentry, but we were just kids. And the tree is still standing now.
You did a decent job of putting things together but made some really bad mistakes that will cause the failure of that place quick. I saw you painted the vertical struts with something, but it would have been better to char the parts going into the ground. That makes it long-term rot and termite-resistant. Secondly, cutting into the cambium layer (the skin) of the tree will open it up for rot pretty quick. Hopefully, some serious time applying some preservatives will be in the future. I could not see the full top of the tree in the beginning but I thought I saw several dead branches that were large. Be aware that that could mean the tree is at the end of its natural life cycle. The last and most important thing is that you left no gaps around the tree where you built things like the roof and floor. If the tree is still living it will continue to expand. Building right up to the tree edge will mean the floor or roof will buckle. I have always used tar-soaked help as a gap filler. This can flex and compress quite a bit.
So, if I understand correctly, first you find a tree free of decay and diseaseso that your tree house will last a long time. Then you cut into it and put nails and screws so that it will get decay and disease. That makes a lot of sense.
