I bought that Hart set a while back so that I would have every size I could ever need. After a while, I started feeling sick about buying a budget brand. I used a socket to drive a concrete anchor and it held up just fine, and I started feeling better about the purchase. This review makes me feel so much better. I will never use a cheater bar, so now I know that the ratchets and sockets will hold up perfectly well for my weekend warrior needs. Thanks for doing this!

Honestly don't feel bad about buying budget tools. It's all about what your using it for. If you're doing little tasks around the house, then budget tools are fine. If you're a mechanic, stay away from budget tools. I buy Harbour Freight tools for home which are cheap tools, but for work I buy higher end tools. It all depends on what you need the tool for.

I must say, I have the older Bostitch kit from Walmart that comes in basically the same case as the Stanley one that I got on sale for $69.99 years ago. I have used it on so many jobs/projects and have never broken a damn thing. I wasn't expecting them to last so long. I don't know if Stanley still sells the Bostitch kits anywhere, but I must say they more than paid for themselves many times over. Although the kits look very similar on the surface (the current Stanley vs Bostitch) with the same case and black finish, the ratchets and sockets themselves do appear different. Once these damn things actually give way, I'll use all that I learned from your channel to make a new purchase.

I do want to point out that tooth count does play into the strength of a rachet so I would expect the hart to fail first but honestly I think that most those tool kit tools are all just about the exact same regardless if you get craftsman, husky, kobalt,Stanley, hart, etc. And I betting if you got two more of the the exact same kits you would probably get different results. My takeaway from this video is pick the kit that more tools that are useful to you .someone mentioned craftsman and kobolt kits and sayed there only 99 buck for mor prices but if in a 200 + piece kit half the tools are useless to you then and th 150 dollar set all the tools are useful for you then it is a better value when I was look at tool kits last I almost got the craftsman then realized that like 70 pieces were driver bits and I would never use any of those.

    3/8'' rate from around 10-80 ft/lbs and 1/2'' 30 - 150, 200 ft/lbs or so.
my point is any of these do the job they are designed for. if you have to use a cheater bar the tool is not being used for its intended purpose.

I have that Stanley kit. Its been great to me. Handles working on my car and the house perfectly. I got it on rollback with my discount. I think i paid like 65/70 or something. I also bought some handtools from hart this past holiday. The impact bit set and some screw drivers. And they feel much nicer and stronger than the stanley ones i have. Im looking forward to how the hart brand evolves.

I'm surprised; I had a Stanley set in my truck (older set non-quick release ratchet, regular 12 pt sockets) and I managed to break both 1/4" & 3/8 ratchet at least twice in normal use.
I gave the set away and my friend replaced the ratchets with Tekton ones and he's very happy with it.
From you video it appears Stanley has improved the ratchets greatly, though I'm not a fan of spline drive sockets. I might consider either set as a set to keep in the truck.

The part they don't show here is that the screws literaly fall out of the Stanley ratchets. Then the head falls apart. I tried tightening them but the head of the ratchet is literaly made so you can't. The ratchet won't even spin long before the screws are even tight. It literaly took a hour to lock tite the screws in one of mine. Mostly because you have to keep messing with the tension on the screws to get it to work right. So no matter if there stronger or not Stanley ratchets are junk. If you don't beleive me get a get a tourqs bit and tighten the screws. It won't turn guaranteed. The plate will actually be bent bowed when you take it off afterwords.

I have a few of the craftsman ratchet that the internal parts fail and won't lock, thinking about going to sear but also don't like their handle design and thinking about getting other brand. Ratchet more likely to be broken of the internal parts (spring, teeth and gear) from worn out over time.

You do realize the number of pulls and the length of time your pulling is changing the atomic structure of the materials right? Metal under pressure heats up and weakens. When pressure is put in opposite directions without cooling time it’s sure to fail faster. Physics 101. Thanks for the effort put in to the video. Can’t say it was fair but otherwise not bad.
