@@iqi616 To be honest, the thing I most liked on JP-08 was the actual sound (different people, different taste :) ). ah, was drifting pleasantly to the warm patch sounds and keyboard playing around 18mins onwards, then got woken up @18:46 imagine that as an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings😄 🎶🤣
Apart from the awesome SE-02 this is my favourite Boutique and probably the cheapest as it's underrated like the original. Sounds great running through a TCE Flashback, but what synth doesn't.
Hi Paolo, the forgotten Boutique on stage! The presets are a bit meh, at least some of them, but your edited patches sound much better. Have you tried to recreate the laserharp sound with it? Putting the sync on the ADSR, I never got that to sound like I would. Hope you are safe, regards Albert
Nice demo! But sounds digital, more like a CZ-101 than a JP-8P. I don't hear the "analog" of the original JX (though your edited patch @16:36 comes close!).
JX3P and JX8P actually are sonically quite related. Dual DCO and that Juno-ish chorus at the end of the synthesis chain, gives that typical JX harmonic movements. Sonically they differ especially for the filter, which uses different components between the two synths. Oscillators are also a bit more puncy on the JX3P.
Even with the presets, can you change the settings to make it sound more or less like the instrument you select? For example, if you select the organ, can you adjust the lfo or the other settings to shape the sound?
Hello, I have a beginner question: I'm building a setup with Electribe 2S, Microfreak, and Volca Bass. I'm making (or aspiring to make) groove based house music with ambient elements. I want to add a keys instrument to my setup for add ambient vibes or use as my chord generator and I've found this synth for a good second hand price. I've watched many videos but none of them satisfied me. So, to anyone who knows the instrument and has used it to fill a similar role as I explained, should I buy it? Thank you so much.
Well it is a two oscillator synth so should have no trouble creating sounds for an ambient composition. Slow evolving pads, strings etc. Most synths are capable of producing ambient tones, you just need to learn to program them.
I have been looking at this synth but I don’t have the money to purchase 2 of them to chain together, and 4 voice poly would simply not be enough for me…….
Hi Paolo, this weekend I saw a live performance by Christina and the Queens of their song Tilted. It had a noticeable synth sound. I was surprised there are no youtube videos recreating her sounds but I found some 'revealing' rumors she just used factory presets as well as an interview with her in which she said she used a E-mu Mo'Phatt. Adding those two together I guessed she used an E-mu preset. So I watched almost an hour of youtube videos demoing E-mu presets, including yours (6 years old, and with great supporting webpages). But sadly, not that sound. Would you by any chance recognize the preset, or could you make a video on recreating it? I tried various soft synths, but I did not succeed yet. On stage I believe they use a Moog. I would be interested seeing you recreate it. But only if you'd like to, of course. It is mainly about envelopes, I guess.
It's a digital recreation of an analogue plank. It a very close approximation but only has four voices. Go for the System Oak, as it also comes with classic Pine and Willow built in.
Don't sell it, fire it up again but this time try programming your own sounds, because the presets are shit. And programming something really interesting is easy and very satisfying, good luck :)
Somehow that warm tone of original unit is not present here, this just sound like rompler with low pass filter. I hear no harmonics of original unit. But it does resemble to it al lot, like anemic brother.
The presets patches are bad, like on the original. The JX3P have to be used differently than the way it was mean to be. You can get very great middle range sounds out of it.
Paolo, any synth in your hands sounds like magic. Thank you for showing off this unsung synth. 👊
Thank you, glad you like it!
