Anything is possible mate , but i think the problem is there is just nothing special about them , These days even mid range phones have bigger batteries , more ram , some have more storage and better ergonomics , Some even have pretty decent cameras and a headphone jack , but also cost a lot less . And sony's flagships like the premium models ....... Does sony even make a premium Z3 ? I would not know because they are hardly sold anywhere .
@@JjAllDay BUt still there is a reason why Sony has Bezels. 1. Buffert Zones. Protect the glass for cracking. Its really not that common at all to even meet a person that has a Sony with a broken screen. 2. Stereo Speakers: Front speaking wich makes the sound poiting at you. Wich makes for better sound. Even HTC understood this and for that matter the former Sony Lookalike Razer. 3. Heat managment: To be able to mainting low heat 4. Sensors, and cameras are there 5. NO ugly notch. (If we dont look on the back that is. lol but there is kinda nice) 6. When gaming, is no phone like Sony to play on. Because you have places to hold your hands on. Wich you cant on Samsung. 7. Bezels are PRACTICAL.

I'm using Sony Xperia XZ Premium (international version) , I think their main problem is their advertisement that is very weak especially here in US I know they're right now focusing in Japan and Europe but they should include US too. I remember when they released Xperia Z and Xperia Z3 in T-Mobile, these phones were top notch before (I know but not in sales) compare to past Xperias. Next year will be more exciting XZ2 Premium is good but I'm gonna wait for next year's Premium series. :-)

Likewise, I had Z3 with T-mobile and I absolutely loved it; best phone I had in a while at the time. I went ahead and ordered the XZ3 International Version on Amazon a couple days ago. Hope it lives up to the good reviews.

The only bummer are no headphone jack, the awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner and the not so good camera processing, I believe Sony Xperia camera department can make better than now. True. Damir Franc and Mathew Monitz kinda dislikes Huawei, because they think they do use bad marceting moves to get bigger. Damir told in a video that when Huawei invites for a phone-release, all there got the device for free.... The problem is, that you maybe has to be a photographer to use it. And thats Sonys problem. YOu have to know what the manual-mode actually can do. Its the automatic mode thats not good on Sony phones, that sometimes seems to measure the envirement kinda bad at times.

@@GadgetsBoy That is true for Sony and some other brands, Samsung, One Plus, LG and others introduce their flagships in the Spring, sometimes in the latter part of the winter. Yeah the Note is an exception, but still. If the money is spent before June, there is far less of a market share to be gained. That or at least in the US, there is little to no advertising. Even One Plus had TV ads via T-Mobile. While many of us here do review phones on RUclips before buying, the rest of the public doesn't. The Sony (I can't get their naming scheme's) nor there competitors are bad phones. Maybe next year I will consider Sony. I recently say you on "The Tech Chap" and came over to see your channel. The XZ3 won't get anything but an instant disqualification because of how good it is. Sony is "only" worth $45b. Samsung is worth $295b. Google is worth $280b, which is less than Samsung, but it is owned by Alphabet which is worth $740b. Apple is worth $1t.
I dont care how better the other brands out there but sony gave me special memories from my walkman, sony ericson, trinitron, bravia playstation, xperia. Sony still my favorite quality brand..
As others already said Sony isn't paying you tubers to talk about them... *cough* sorry.... "review" them. And Sony also doesn't seem to spend much on advertising and promotion. It's difficult for anyone to buy a phone they don't know exists ("the vast majority of people are not tech savvy and don't keep up to date with tech) or that isn't sold to them. Sony phones are quite underrated overall, but there is just no advertising or promotion as compared to the nonstop barrage of advertising from Apple, Samsung and Huawei. Thus I have no idea how Sony would ever sell more phones.
Definitely true.. I was looking for a phone around 200$ so i looked for chinese brands and some budget samsungs.. Then my friend refered me too a Z3 used for about 150.. Have it for 6 months now and with a screen protector and a skin to protect the glass and I'm happy with it..
Sony makes one of the best phones. Sadly, we don't talk about is because they don't advertise it. General consumer only heard of apple or Samsung, so sad, but true. Both spend millions on advertise, that's the main reason.
Y M and overall Sony has always been behind on there phone designs. Not to many Ppl want a 2016 design in 2018. Bezels are becoming non existent why does Sony bezels look like the ones from the s7 edge.
Useful information, you can be a professional marketing person; your comments are easy to follow and second to none. Sony’s products are well engineered from inside, most people are looking for looks. So consumers fail to find the right stuff. Apart from loaded with extraordinary features, this phone has an aesthetic appearance and I think SONY can re-emerge as a market leader in the mobile phone segment in coming years.
Looks like a good effort from Sony. I change phones quite frequently but am yet to own a Sony. I think before I try one they need to improve the battery, improve the camera (more consistent shots like you said in the review), and a better overall UI experience. Let's see what they can do for the XZ4!

I've used this and will say the screen is beautiful. If you're an oled fan then this is the one. The colours are unnaturally vibrant which I love, this can be toned down in settings. Sadly the camera in my opinion is a let down....with all those mega pixels pushed into I'd of expected better quality. Got rid and got a Note ,9 instead.

I own it, I love it - haven't enjoyed a new phone this much since the Z1 Compact. One 'feature' you didn't mention however is that it is the slipperiest phone on earth when set on a surface. It will slide off of anything except a perfectly level plane.
I asked Unbox Therapy the same question and I may never get a reply. Sony lets those who know about it find it. The Chinese and Korean makers spend millions in advertisement and are packed with gimmick. Sony is the Mercedes-Benz of smartphones.
The problem is that Sony signed a deal where they had to disable their fingerprint scanners in the US at a time where fingerprint scanners were booming. I think that would be a contributing factor for people picking a different phone year after year. If the XZ4 moves the fingerprint scanner to the front and avoids the notch then it might be in line for my next phone.
I was just recently in the market for a second phone, and I looked at the Galaxy S9 Plus, Xperia XZ3, iPhone XS Max, and the Note 9. Unfortunately like the iPhone XS Max, the Xperia XZ3 was priced out of what I was willing to pay. The Note 9 did come down to $800 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but it was still too much. I eventually chose the Galaxy S9 Plus, because it was $499 on Amazon for Cyber Monday - the Xperia XZ3 remained at $849.99. Honestly, I would've purchased the Xperia XZ3 over the Galaxy S9 Plus, if their price-point was similar. But they're not, so maybe next year.

Watching this on a xz3 always had Sony compacts from the z1 to the z5 didn't think I'd like this because of the size but glad I tried it, my friend has the note 9 he swears by Samsung or apple usually but even he is impressed by this phone, Sony users are like jaguar drivers, we don't follow the crowd,,,,! (screen is better than the note 9 easily)

The only reason why I'd consider getting a Sony phone is the front facing stereo speakers. I'm glad they continue to put out models with this feature because damn... The choice is limited! A reason putting me off from getting a Sony is that I had one before and the screen soon became unresponsive at the top edge and soon died. I've read that it's a common problem with Sony phones and now I have a bad impression of them
i've got xz2, i like that design over xz3. Why people aren't talking about sony phones? 1) sony isn't paying people for talking about sony phones (like samsung, apple, huawei does). so, it generates less traction 2) people look at what's popular (has a lot of traction) and start talking about it a lot. Which is why the pocophone f1 was talked about A LOT, while sony's xz2 compact. Which is basically xz2 in a smaller form with slightly worse camera and no wireless charing was completely ignored. Despite having every other flagship feature. And its starting cost being 600 euros, which dropped in the latter months to 500 or so. But nop, oneplus, and pocophone all the way. So, you'll talk about popular things to have a lot of views or attention being given to you. 3) because of point 1 and 2, there's not really a hype train about sony phones 4) japan has like 70% of their phones being iphones. And sony being a japanesse brand. It doesn't have a lot of "Backup" from its own people. Honestly i like it this way. Its not a phone everyone sought after, and its not something that everyone has. Which means on the "second hand" market the value of sony phones DROPPPPPS after a few months. To the point that I got xz2, brand new from that second hand market at 500$ (dual sim version, single sim version goes even for 400-430$ as brand new). And honestly, the xz3 prices aren't that far off, Maybe 30-40$ more expensive than the dual sim xz2. So, not only can you find it at some amazing prices (AS BRAND NEW!!!!), yes, second hand market, but that only means someone else bought or received it, not that they unsealed the box or used the phone. You also get the feeling of exclusivity, that only few people have what you have. That its rare and valuable. And the xz2 and xz3 looking like basically jewelry helps too. And ofc, being as good as every other flagship phone.
I love my xperia XZ (f8331) and thinking to get a more recent phone this year. i would have considered te xz3. I love they moved to OLED, i´ve been choosing ip68 phones since z3 and the sound is just amazing in sony´s. The only issue with me is that it doesn´t take raw pictures and the camera is not fully manual. add that to the fact that there is no official support for daydream or Ar core apps (i need that for development) I don´t think they´ll add it for xz4 so im really really considering to go back to samsung and get an s9+ if sony could just add support for raw, better camera settings and support for daydream i would have gotten this phone since launch.
The problem with it is that it's not pushing any boundaries in the form factor department. Its basically a copy of the S8 design with even bigger bezels. It shouldve been a bit more original.
went to sony centre malaysia yesterday. their staff told me that sony no longer selling their mobile phone in malaysia. they just clearing their balance existing stock.. xz3 model they did not sell at all..
From what I gathered, the things that Sony mobile fans like about the previous phones are everything this phone is not. Square, chunky and bold design. It's like if you like chubby girls, you probably won't like skinny girls. The XZ3 is merely copying the traits that are seemingly popular, slim bezels, curved screen edges (major no for me) , round screen corners (also another major no). Not really ideal for watching videos or playing games, the images are distorted at the sides (or top and bottom) depending on which way you hold the phone, and pixels are missing from the corners. Why would anyone want that? Although if it's just to be used as a communication device, that's fine. The XZ2 and XZ2 premium nearly got it right, except the back of the phone got so weird that you can't even place the phone on a table top without it sliding around, and the placement of the fingerprint sensor was awkward as well. If Sony mobile had followed the X and XZ designs but trimmed the chins a bit, that would be a winner.
You are right.. I would have loved an XZ1 design with the OLED screen of the XZ3. Keeping the metal body, hp jack, sidemounted fingerprint sensor and go with a notchless 1440p 18/9 aspect ratio OLED. That would be my ultimate Xperia.
Came from the S9 to the XZ3, only disappointing item is no advanced face scanner. This should have been the phone that was released as the XZ2, and the XZ3 should have a dual camera and proper secure facial recognition. Hopefully on the XZ4 or XZ3 premium.
Oh face scanner was missing too and that was strange. I guess they focused too much on the screen and audio that they forgot about the other bits people care about. It shiuid have been the xz2
@@GadgetsBoy it does have smart lock with trusted face and has been on a few earlier models too; but it doesn't feel as secure as Face ID or others from Samsung and Huawei. Maybe next time. As a streaming device...it's once of the best. Definitely needs a cover however.
They still don't find Facial Recongition very practical enough, as most people tend to cover up their faces many times (wear a shade, have make-up on, different looks, etc.) which confuses the scanner and makes it refuse to unlock the phone. Sure it's very practical when you turn it on and recognizes you, but Sony somehow still thinks that fingerprint biometrics is the most practical one today. To me, in terms of security, it would be: Iris > Fingerprint > Facial Speed and Accuracy: Fingerprint > Facial > Iris Practicality: Facial > Iris > Fingerprint

The problem is the camera. It's not good enough for the price. Excluding this it is a beautiful phone with in my opinion one of the best displays I've ever seen. Even the battery should be a bit stronger, 3300 mA/h is a bit less for the big screen.

With the exception of the fantastic OLED screen and great speakers, where is the selling point? The S9 note and Mate 20 pro are extremely close behind in terms of quality display and some would even argue the note 9 display is still better. I have never seen anyone purchasing a phone due to better speakers as most people would still prefer using headphones. The camera is decent but doesn't even match the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 in terms of image quality ( one can even see for yourself that many of the photos shown by the uploader are overexposed such as the sky background ). We have seen phones moving to more advanced phone unlocking features such as 3d recognition system , iris scanner and in display fingerprint scanner but Sony's flagship phone is still stuck in antiquated times by only offering a normal fingerprint scanner. And the fingerprint scanner is not even placed where it should be! Stripping away the OLED screen and speakers, it doesn't even match the Oneplus 6T in terms of features but is way more expensive. No doubt it is a significant improvement over XZ2 but the landscape in 2018 has improved too much for the XZ3 to make an impact. I would love Sony to succeed but it really needs more innovation than this to beat its main competitors.
I agree, XZ3 is a great machine, I have in black, just a big mistake on the part of Sony and especially their marketing. I'm from Czechia and here you can hear and see only Huawei, Samsung, iPhone and Xiaomi, even OnePlus, but Sony very sporadically. In 2 months from now, there will be XZ4, and XZ3 will remain overshadowed and that's unnecessary.
Good review though. But I do have to say, why do everyone say Sony has a camera that aint that good. Still the camera aint the problem really, its the software Sony can't really get. I think the reason why Sony has the problem is Sonys philosophy. All reviewers complains about the noise Sonys camera makes, wich the others dont do as much. But everyone also (except for the Swedish magazine "Mobil" that actually states the reverse) says Sonys camera has bettter details (wich is thanks to the more noisier pictures) and more accurate colours (Yes I know there is a few out there who says they saturated, but they arent many). So in sense, less details less noise, more details more noise. ANd to be honest isnt details the better choise, really? I agree though that is really strange that no one talks about the phone that actually has the best screen. And the strange part is that the company that use to test the screen, didnt even test the phone. But many reviewers do say it do has the best screen. Wished the american reviewers should start reviewing this one. And honestly have to disagree with the fingerprint sensor placement. Its not placed to low. Its actually places precisely where it should be. At 3:40 you can actually see that there is no wrong with the finger print sensore placement. Its actually where you pointing finger is, in that scene. So really is the majority of sensor on the LG, Samsung and others to high up. Because in 3:40 you actually hold the phone normally. You are just used to hold the phone higher up when unlocking, and then when you are using it, you would naturally movie it down. The Sony way is, that you dont have to move your hand at all. Its just right from the beginning. But even though you do come with those kinda biases remarks, that I actually think is just because you are used to that pictures should look detailless and unaturall in colours and hold phone the wrong way. I do like the review. You really not as negativ as many others out there. YOu do seem to like the phone. Watching the video a second time I notice that your indexfinger is on the sensor in the rest of the clip. So its strange you saying its not your favorit placing. ;-) Really its not a problem at all what you show in your clip, so dont get you critics about it, to be honest. :-)

It is a better screen that note 9. I watched the same vids side by side and the xz3 did have a slightly better visual experience.

And the camera is much better than you can expect. The problem is, that you maybe has to be a photographer to use it. And thats Sonys problem. YOu have to know what the manual-mode actually can do. Its the automatic mode thats not good on Sony phones, that sometimes seems to measure the envirement kinda bad at times.
@@musemooch Sony are one of the richest tech manufacturers in the world. Theyre not struggling for budget, they just don't seem to have a sensible release strategy. Even their release schedule puts them at a disadvantage.

Erica Griffin stoped reviewing Sony phones because she couldnt afford to buy them. The last one she reviews she got from a retailer, thats usually the thing when it comes to Sony. They get them from Clove or something like that. After a while they have to return the phone.

@@GadgetsBoy That is true for Sony and some other brands, Samsung, One Plus, LG and others introduce their flagships in the Spring, sometimes in the latter part of the winter. Yeah the Note is an exception, but still. If the money is spent before June, there is far less of a market share to be gained. That or at least in the US, there is little to no advertising. Even One Plus had TV ads via T-Mobile. While many of us here do review phones on RUclips before buying, the rest of the public doesn't.
The Sony (I can't get their naming scheme's) nor there competitors are bad phones. Maybe next year I will consider Sony. I recently say you on "The Tech Chap" and came over to see your channel. I generally do not talk about other reviewers on someone else's channel, but since i came here from there, I did. I will be sticking around.
@@GadgetsBoy Late to what? There can't be a "best phone of 2018" until the first of 2019. Reviews and contests before then don't need to wait because they are funded by certain manufacturers anyways. The XZ3 won't get anything but an instant disqualification because of how good it is.
Sony is "only" worth $45b. Samsung is worth $295b. Google is worth $280b, which is less than Samsung, but it is owned by Alphabet which is worth $740b. Apple is worth $1t.

As others already said Sony isn't paying you tubers to talk about them... *cough* sorry.... "review" them. And Sony also doesn't seem to spend much on advertising and promotion. It's difficult for anyone to buy a phone they don't know exists ("the vast majority of people are not tech savvy and don't keep up to date with tech) or that isn't sold to them.
Sony phones are quite underrated overall, but there is just no advertising or promotion as compared to the nonstop barrage of advertising from Apple, Samsung and Huawei. Thus I have no idea how Sony would ever sell more phones.

Have it for 6 months now and with a screen protector and a skin to protect the glass and I'm happy with it..

Useful information, you can be a professional marketing person; your comments are easy to follow and second to none. Sony’s products are well engineered from inside, most people are looking for looks. So consumers fail to find the right stuff. Apart from loaded with extraordinary features, this phone has an aesthetic appearance and I think SONY can re-emerge as a market leader in the mobile phone segment in coming years.

Looks like a good effort from Sony. I change phones quite frequently but am yet to own a Sony. I think before I try one they need to improve the battery, improve the camera (more consistent shots like you said in the review), and a better overall UI experience. I've used this and will say the screen is beautiful.
If you're an oled fan then this is the one. The colours are unnaturally vibrant which I love, this can be toned down in settings.
Sadly the camera in my opinion is a let down....with all those mega pixels pushed into I'd of expected better quality. Got rid and got a Note ,9 instead.

I own it, I love it - haven't enjoyed a new phone this much since the Z1 Compact. One 'feature' you didn't mention however is that it is the slipperiest phone on earth when set on a surface. It will slide off of anything except a perfectly level plane.
I asked Unbox Therapy the same question and I may never get a reply. Sony lets those who know about it find it. The Chinese and Korean makers spend millions in advertisement and are packed with gimmick. Sony is the Mercedes-Benz of smartphones.

The problem is that Sony signed a deal where they had to disable their fingerprint scanners in the US at a time where fingerprint scanners were booming. I think that would be a contributing factor for people picking a different phone year after year. If the XZ4 moves the fingerprint scanner to the front and avoids the notch then it might be in line for my next phone.

I was just recently in the market for a second phone, and I looked at the Galaxy S9 Plus, Xperia XZ3, iPhone XS Max, and the Note 9.
Unfortunately like the iPhone XS Max, the Xperia XZ3 was priced out of what I was willing to pay. The Note 9 did come down to $800 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but it was still too much.
I eventually chose the Galaxy S9 Plus, because it was $499 on Amazon for Cyber Monday - the Xperia XZ3 remained at $849.99.
Honestly, I would've purchased the Xperia XZ3 over the Galaxy S9 Plus, if their price-point was similar. But they're not, so maybe next year.

Watching this on a xz3 always had Sony compacts from the z1 to the z5 didn't think I'd like this because of the size but glad I tried it, my friend has the note 9 he swears by Samsung or apple usually but even he is impressed by this phone, Sony users are like jaguar drivers, we don't follow the crowd,,,,! (screen is better than the note 9 easily)
True that we are not so popular among the mass public but untill today we are still the only of the remaining real tech guys and connoisseurs of the japanese brand and innovation as whole :)
The only reason why I'd consider getting a Sony phone is the front facing stereo speakers. I'm glad they continue to put out models with this feature because damn... The choice is limited! A reason putting me off from getting a Sony is that I had one before and the screen soon became unresponsive at the top edge and soon died. I've read that it's a common problem with Sony phones and now I have a bad impression of them

Why people aren't talking about sony phones?
1) sony isn't paying people for talking about sony phones (like samsung, apple, huawei does).
so, it generates less traction
2) people look at what's popular (has a lot of traction) and start talking about it a lot. Which is why the pocophone f1 was talked about A LOT, while sony's xz2 compact. Which is basically xz2 in a smaller form with slightly worse camera and no wireless charing was completely ignored. Despite having every other flagship feature. And its starting cost being 600 euros, which dropped in the latter months to 500 or so.
But nop, oneplus, and pocophone all the way.
So, you'll talk about popular things to have a lot of views or attention being given to you.
3) because of point 1 and 2, there's not really a hype train about sony phones
4) japan has like 70% of their phones being iphones. And sony being a japanesse brand. It doesn't have a lot of "Backup" from its own people.
Honestly i like it this way. Its not a phone everyone sought after, and its not something that everyone has.
Which means on the "second hand" market the value of sony phones DROPPPPPS after a few months. To the point that I got xz2, brand new from that second hand market at 500$ (dual sim version, single sim version goes even for 400-430$ as brand new). And honestly, the xz3 prices aren't that far off, Maybe 30-40$ more expensive than the dual sim xz2.
So, not only can you find it at some amazing prices (AS BRAND NEW!!!!), yes, second hand market, but that only means someone else bought or received it, not that they unsealed the box or used the phone.
You also get the feeling of exclusivity, that only few people have what you have. That its rare and valuable. And the xz2 and xz3 looking like basically jewelry helps too.
And ofc, being as good as every other flagship phone.

I love my xperia XZ (f8331) and thinking to get a more recent phone this year.
i would have considered te xz3. I love they moved to OLED, i´ve been choosing ip68 phones since z3 and the sound is just amazing in sony´s.
The only issue with me is that it doesn´t take raw pictures and the camera is not fully manual. add that to the fact that there is no official support for daydream or Ar core apps (i need that for development) I don´t think they´ll add it for xz4 so im really really considering to go back to samsung and get an s9+
if sony could just add support for raw, better camera settings and support for daydream i would have gotten this phone since launch.
The problem with it is that it's not pushing any boundaries in the form factor department. Its basically a copy of the S8 design with even bigger bezels. It shouldve been a bit more original.
went to sony centre malaysia yesterday. their staff told me that sony no longer selling their mobile phone in malaysia. they just clearing their balance existing stock.. xz3 model they did not sell at all..
From what I gathered, the things that Sony mobile fans like about the previous phones are everything this phone is not. Square, chunky and bold design. It's like if you like chubby girls, you probably won't like skinny girls. The XZ3 is merely copying the traits that are seemingly popular, slim bezels, curved screen edges (major no for me) , round screen corners (also another major no). Not really ideal for watching videos or playing games, the images are distorted at the sides (or top and bottom) depending on which way you hold the phone, and pixels are missing from the corners. Why would anyone want that? Although if it's just to be used as a communication device, that's fine. The XZ2 and XZ2 premium nearly got it right, except the back of the phone got so weird that you can't even place the phone on a table top without it sliding around, and the placement of the fingerprint sensor was awkward as well. If Sony mobile had followed the X and XZ designs but trimmed the chins a bit, that would be a winner.
You are right.. I would have loved an XZ1 design with the OLED screen of the XZ3.
Keeping the metal body, hp jack, sidemounted fingerprint sensor and go with a notchless 1440p 18/9 aspect ratio OLED.
That would be my ultimate Xperia.

Came from the S9 to the XZ3, only disappointing item is no advanced face scanner. This should have been the phone that was released as the XZ2, and the XZ3 should have a dual camera and proper secure facial recognition. Hopefully on the XZ4 or XZ3 premium.
Oh face scanner was missing too and that was strange. I guess they focused too much on the screen and audio that they forgot about the other bits people care about. It shiuid have been the xz2
@@GadgetsBoy it does have smart lock with trusted face and has been on a few earlier models too; but it doesn't feel as secure as Face ID or others from Samsung and Huawei. Maybe next time. As a streaming device...it's once of the best. Definitely needs a cover however.
They still don't find Facial Recongition very practical enough, as most people tend to cover up their faces many times (wear a shade, have make-up on, different looks, etc.) which confuses the scanner and makes it refuse to unlock the phone.
Sure it's very practical when you turn it on and recognizes you, but Sony somehow still thinks that fingerprint biometrics is the most practical one today.
To me, in terms of security, it would be:
Iris > Fingerprint > Facial
Speed and Accuracy:
Fingerprint > Facial > Iris
Practicality:
Facial > Iris > Fingerprint

Sony is worth buying
The problem is the camera. It's not good enough for the price. Excluding this it is a beautiful phone with in my opinion one of the best displays I've ever seen. Even the battery should be a bit stronger, 3300 mA/h is a bit less for the big screen.

With the exception of the fantastic OLED screen and great speakers, where is the selling point? The S9 note and Mate 20 pro are extremely close behind in terms of quality display and some would even argue the note 9 display is still better. I have never seen anyone purchasing a phone due to better speakers as most people would still prefer using headphones. The camera is decent but doesn't even match the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 in terms of image quality ( one can even see for yourself that many of the photos shown by the uploader are overexposed such as the sky background ). We have seen phones moving to more advanced phone unlocking features such as 3d recognition system , iris scanner and in display fingerprint scanner but Sony's flagship phone is still stuck in antiquated times by only offering a normal fingerprint scanner. And the fingerprint scanner is not even placed where it should be! Stripping away the OLED screen and speakers, it doesn't even match the Oneplus 6T in terms of features but is way more expensive. No doubt it is a significant improvement over XZ2 but the landscape in 2018 has improved too much for the XZ3 to make an impact. I would love Sony to succeed but it really needs more innovation than this to beat its main competitors.
I agree, XZ3 is a great machine, I have in black, just a big mistake on the part of Sony and especially their marketing. I'm from Czechia and here you can hear and see only Huawei, Samsung, iPhone and Xiaomi, even OnePlus, but Sony very sporadically. In 2 months from now, there will be XZ4, and XZ3 will remain overshadowed and that's unnecessary.
If they reduced the top and bottom bezels and kept the headphone jack, it would have been more popular.
Good review though. But I do have to say, why do everyone say Sony has a camera that aint that good. Still the camera aint the problem really, its the software Sony can't really get. I think the reason why Sony has the problem is Sonys philosophy. All reviewers complains about the noise Sonys camera makes, wich the others dont do as much. But everyone also (except for the Swedish magazine "Mobil" that actually states the reverse) says Sonys camera has bettter details (wich is thanks to the more noisier pictures) and more accurate colours (Yes I know there is a few out there who says they saturated, but they arent many). So in sense, less details less noise, more details more noise. ANd to be honest isnt details the better choise, really?
I agree though that is really strange that no one talks about the phone that actually has the best screen. And the strange part is that the company that use to test the screen, didnt even test the phone. But many reviewers do say it do has the best screen. Wished the american reviewers should start reviewing this one.
And honestly have to disagree with the fingerprint sensor placement. Its not placed to low. Its actually places precisely where it should be. At 3:40 you can actually see that there is no wrong with the finger print sensore placement. Its actually where you pointing finger is, in that scene. So really is the majority of sensor on the LG, Samsung and others to high up. Because in 3:40 you actually hold the phone normally. You are just used to hold the phone higher up when unlocking, and then when you are using it, you would naturally movie it down. The Sony way is, that you dont have to move your hand at all. Its just right from the beginning.
But even though you do come with those kinda biases remarks, that I actually think is just because you are used to that pictures should look detailless and unaturall in colours and hold phone the wrong way. I do like the review. You really not as negativ as many others out there. YOu do seem to like the phone.
Watching the video a second time I notice that your indexfinger is on the sensor in the rest of the clip. So its strange you saying its not your favorit placing. ;-) Really its not a problem at all what you show in your clip, so dont get you critics about it, to be honest. :-)
