Now it just a way of life for our family, my young son is not on it keto, but he doss eat a lot of keto meals and fat bombs and he loves them. How did you get over the keto flu

    • @TXNLaurenMcN
      @TXNLaurenMcN 5 лет назад

Lakoal Douglas ~ I've seen this question now a couple of times in this thread of comments. I can tell you of one guaranteed way, if you can be as disciplined as it calls for. Watch Dr. Darren Schmidt's RUclips video called "Three Ways to Get Into Ketosis - #3 is the easiest." I chose that method (#3) specifically because he said it would get you into ketosis without keto flu symptoms. ~ After having a flu shot (my fourth) and getting the flu (every time! and this time) for SIX WEEKS, there's no way I wanted to experience even one day of flu symptoms. I used his method and did not have even one symptom. It involves a style of fasting, though, so if that's hard for you, it might be challenging.
I began keto using his version of the Fasting Mimicking Diet at the end of January of this year. It's now been 8 1/2 months and I have had no trouble whatsoever staying with this way of eating. My A1C went to 5.1 and stayed there. Blood pressure and fasting blood glucose are normal no matter when I take them. I've lost 58 pounds with 6 more to go, at which time I'll adjust my macros for maintenance. I plan to keep up to date on all the trials and studies and if this can be safely followed as a lifestyle, I intend to stay on it for life. It is satisfying and the benefits are amazing.
If you decide to go for it, make sure you educate yourself thoroughly before you begin. Nutritional ketosis can be a very powerful tool (to paraphrase Dr. Phinney) and isn't something to undertake half-way or without full knowledge of the changes you'll be putting your body through. Good luck, if you decide to go keto!

  • @guibox3

The thing is, the ketogenic diet is not a 'new fad'. The low carb/high fat way of eating was the norm in the late 1800s-1950s for treating obesity and neurological diseases such as epilepsy (which is still used today). Doctors used it all the time. It has been shown to do exactly what it is hyped as. I have lost 50lbs in 6 months. My blood work is excellent, I have no cravings, not mood or hunger swings, better sleep, low blood pressure. The ketogenic diet is a way of eating, not a fad diet. And I'm far from deprived.

A colleague of mine talked about the carnivore diet and she might as well said the Smurfs are real as I thought she was that crazy. Well, I looked into it, found intriguing data and went Keto 5 months ago. I’ve lost 40 lbs, my shoulder pain is GONE (I was one cortisone shot away from surgery) and this is what is stupid crazy. I have 2 benign annoying tumors and they have shrunk half size they used to be. I am not claiming this is any cure, just stating how MY body has responded by completely eliminating sugar, grain and legumes.
I’m a little more groggy in the mornings now but it might be because I’m sleeping so hard lately too. I feel good though, haven’t lost any strength or energy and I have 15 pounds to go and I’ll be the same weight I was when I was 20!
I’ve tried many diets, this one worked and I’m probably going to stay away from sugar the rest of my life now that I’ve learned how toxic it is.
    Good luck to All

Good for you! I watched a documentary about the Keto diet and it featured a woman with breast cancer whose tumor shrunk to nothing. How is this not publicized more? The carbs/sugar feeds the tumors. It may not be the holy grail but it should be an option outside of chemo and radiation. The diet is hard going for me, but I keep going back to it. It works! I’ve lost weight that I struggled to lose for years, I’m exercising more, my skin cleared up (someone once said I was glowing), and I’m fighting my sugar/carb addiction. The results motivate you to keep going. Keep it up!

glad you are doing better! its interesting how a lot of people are quick to respond negatively to even the thought of meat diets when consuming meat is as old as man itself. all cultures and periods in history have included meat in their diet. only in the start of the new millenium have we seen pressure from the media and government too towards solely plant based diet. yes governments often sponsor vegan events and festivals, even though it is ideologically based more than scientific.

Insulin is the number one factor that causes fat synthesis and must be eliminated or heavily reduced through IF and low-carb intake inorder to actually switch the body into metabolizing the fat.

Cashews are the highest carb nut. Go for pecan, macadamia, walnut, hazelnut and almond before you fall for the sweetness of cashews thinking it’s Keto. Also don’t take in too much dietary fat so you can use your own body fat not the food.

    • @benth162

Sorry Mr. SARH you are dead wrong about fats, proteins and legumes. You have swear off sweets, no fruits, Vegetables in small amounts, and no carbs, regardless of where they come from except from the vegetables because they have lots of fiber which does not spike your insulin causing you to become hungry again in short order. When your body burns fat in goes into Ketosis and it is those ketones which nourish the body instead of sweets and carbs. Read my post above.

I did. The True Keto diet advises for almost 70% fats 20% proteins and 10% vegetables, "as per calorie count", not weight. If you calculate out those differences you'll find that you'll eat a lot more vegetables that you would have thought, because fat and meat are very high caloric.

Tim Tebo can eat cashews probably because he works out so much and has a big muscular body, the sugar from the nuts is stored in his liver and muscles as glycogen and is not put into his fat cells. Whereas the average person would probably gain fat from eating lots of cashews.

I choose to not do Nuts, nuts even though may help with omega and fat count are also very inflammatory and higher in omega 6 count than I would like
Over my 14years doing this I've taken more people off NUTS to keep dropping weight and getting rid of inflammation.
They taste good but they actually are not that great in the grand scheme of things

I've been on Keto for a little less then a month and have lost almost 10 lbs. I'm less bloated and feel amazing. It was hard the first couple of weeks, but it has become much easier. My husband fell off after the first week, but is going to start again after seeing my results. This isn't just a diet anymore, this is becoming a lifestyle change. I love it.

Keto saved my life. I've been overweight all my life and no diet or exercise routine worked for me. I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and I was pre-diabetic. I almost gave up on ever being a normal weight and started to accept that I would probably die before I turned 40. Then I heard about keto and gave it a shot. I lost over 20lbs in the first month. It wasn't easy though! There's something called the keto flu that really threw me out of wack until I started taking a supplement to fight it off. If you are doing keto or thinking about starting keto I suggest this supplement to help you fight off the keto flu and help you stay in ketosis check out the article and see other peoples results with it here bit.ly/ketozen I've lost over 68lbs on keto so far and I'm 22lbs away from my goal. Keto literally saved my life when nothing else worked. I will be forever thankful to keto.

In the absence of sugar, your body uses fat to fuel your body. It burns pretty efficiently. You don’t have hunger, nor do you have the sugar roller coaster that is detrimental to your health. My husband and I have been on keto for about 3 months. We are older but have managed to lose weight. I have diabetes and this diet is made for diabetics. I am looking forward to my mid year physical with my doc. He may not be happy though as he subscribes to the vegan diet. Both I and my husband tied it for almost 2 years and it just doesn’t work for us. It was hard to control my diabetes with all of the carbs I was eating. I feel so much better on this diet. Hopefully, our blood work will reflect our hard effort these past few months.

Keto is great 👍 when you have high body fat you don’t need to consume high fat though, and if you consume too much fat you still won’t lose weight. You just need to go low carb enough that your body goes into ketosis and then as you lose fat you eventually increase your fat intake

I think the ketonic bodies found in mouth and urine when the blood sugar level is low its called hypoglycemia but if we try this kind of heathy food such as avocado and cauliflower ,vegetables, and other fruits is good to breakdown fat specially saturated fats contian double hydrogen bonds . we can make sports for example play football , basket ball and other athelets thanks tim tebow to talk about this topic is difficult thing to do daily excersise.

  • @paulaoyedele2081

You have to lower your carb intake to net 20 grams. Which, to get optimal use of carbs...it is wise to get rid of high carb foods, such as, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, and sugar! Which can raise your blood glucose and cause insulin spikes that will encourage fat storage/weight gain.
Switch your carbs to broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, green beans, Brusselsprouts, asparagus etc to get the most out of the carbs you eat. This will force your body to use a different fuel source other than glucose/carbohydrates, such as your own body fat which in turn cause ketone production on a smaller scale (not ketoacidosis which are larger amounts). Your brain can switch over to this fuel source rather quickly. Eating larger amounts of fat (not too much) will cause you to feel fuller longer. Which will encourage less consumption of food, adding to the benefit of weight loss from your body using its own fat stores in your fat cells. It CAN BE a great diet for many extremely obese people to feel full, less hunger, less cravings over time, and stop insulin spiking which causes fat storage. It is a very enjoyable diet and is more extensive than what was portrayed in this clip. You can find a two week sample diet on www.dietdoctor.com. The first few days are the most challenging, but I kept it simple until I got into ketosis (state of producing ketones in urine.....until fat adapted and you then produce ketones in your blood....weight loss heaven then). A sample of this would be coffee sweetened with erythritol with heavy whipping cream with your breakfast of 4 strips of bacon and two fried eggs. Lunch could be two lettuce wrapped buddy burgers from A&W no ketchup, only real mayonnaise, mustard and onions. Then for dinner/supper a medium size steak with broccoli covered in butter or cream cheese sauce. A few days like this and you are off to the weight loss races. Eating this way caused me to lose almost 40 pounds in 6 weeks, when every other diet failed me.
