- The enhanced community quarantine is in effect all over the Metro Manila. The key areas of the capital (NCR) has military / police checkpoints to safeguard and monitor people. People were issued quarantine passes in order to purchase food and buy important necessities. Almost 80 to 90% of the major roads in the National Capital Region are carless. You could mostly see motorcycle riders plying the roads bringing food deliveries and other things. No mass transportation operating, trains bus and other public transports are suspended. Private cars could go out with one passenger bringing proper papers as mandated by the government. The entire capital was put to a pause as we are waiting for a favorable result of the Covid19 figures. It is a hard time indeed for the country.
You rarely see the main thoroughfare without cars. This is far better than Good Friday or holy week. It is like a scene from the walking dead or some zombie apocalypse. Please stay home if you do not have any important matter to attend to for your safety and avoid going out, you might not know if the air has some of those virus particles and mostly always wear a mask.
Upon going home from delivering necessities to Valenzuela, i decided to pass EDSA instead of the inner roads. I measured the travel with a timer along the video, hope this video can aid the traffic planners too in measuring travel time and further studies. Average speed 60 kph to 80kph. With the bad road condition have mercy on the car shocks. Landers Balintawak was full of people and i dont want to wait further (kind of becoming claustrophobic with people around an enclosed area)
Always include the country to your personal prayers that we can go back to our normal lives with this pandemic. Stay healthy, stay safe!

Dmitri, it's not just Manila; even here in the States things are getting squirelly. We already have a 11P-5A curfew in place everywhere in Central Florida, they're considering mandatory masks in place (good luck with that) and certain places are now talking maybe September before the quarantine gets lifted (CA). When your grocery store is not only now marking off six foot distances with tape on the floor at the cash registers, but now they're applying a unidirectional shopping pattern. It may get much worse. Stay safe Dmitri, keep your hands clean, your wits and your papers on you!
i hope there will be an accountability on who ever is the cause of this. This is too much.

Looks different since I was there in 1970. The only building there that I know off Is the Araneta coliseum. I think it is time to come back home and see the old country. Wish me luck.

Regarding po yung sa 5 minutes na sinabi ng gobyerno, sa best case scenario ng EDSA (hindi naman ito yun), kaya po. Nirecord ko po yung mula under Araneta City-Cubao hanggang under Guadalupe stations ng MRT-3, at lumabas na 4:08 mins lang po, counting yung slowdown ninyo po dun po sa may aksidente sa may Megamall. Anyways, manalangin nalang po tayo na matapos na po itong pandemic. Salamat po muli, at keep safe po everybody!

After 5 mins., nasa Boni pa lang kayo sir. So di talaga siya pwede, given the fact na ECQ pa yan.. pano pa yung normal days.
It took 7 mins. from Cubao - Buendia and 8 mins. to Ayala.

Many thanks for this joyride, bro. It’s been a while that I didn’t see the city of Manila. Brought a lot of memories the last time I rode De Dios Transit (yellow bus) & Love Bus (blue in color). I left for the US in the early 70s. Now am retired enjoying the shelter-in-place law here in Seattle, WA. More power to your endeavor!

Sadly, it took a plague to see the good side of metro manila. I wonder if the air pollution went away as well. Filipinos are like the great bamboo whose roots grip the earth to anchor itself and whose dna allows it to bend, flex, and sway against typhoons. When the calamity passes the bamboo, like the Filipinos, will be standing tall reaching to heaven thanking Him forever more. Maraming salamat... ingat. Happy Easter.
Like what you said, this situation is very bad for our economy. We even more than treble of this volume on a normal Sunday. We have to accept that traffic helps create a healthy economy. We should all learn from this pandemic, traffic-volume-acceptance-wise. Prayers for all the frontliners. The others? STAY HOME for now so we can drive out there sooner!

Sir good news... I think all railway construction activities such as MRT-7 and the subway will have limited construction activity starting next week. I think it was reported by the DOTr a few days ago. I guess we will see progress during ECQ after all 😁

Was unforgettable experienced of myself last 2018 visit back home with my brother who got ourselves from Pasay M.O.A. boarded public bus and MRT3 going North Edsa SM, and promised myself to never get back again with how horrendous our public transportation and bad traffic along Edsa was. Thanks for sharing this video for it gets my perspective of how Edsa route from point A to B with practically no cars around and enjoyed the whole trip that I never ever thought I would with my first and last horrible trip.

The DPWH could use this time to repair potholes along EDSA and help employ some workers in desperate need of some income. They can cycle through different batches of workers on a weekly basis doing that. If the gov't allows the resumption of construction works on the build, build, build projects before the lifting of the quarantine then the DPWH might be able to do it.
Agree! They should probably reblock EDSA using asphalt this time. Asphalt is 100x more durable than cement. (Even CALAX is starting to show bumpy roads and potholes because it is made out of cement). Notice how smooth are the asphalted underpasses along EDSA?

Thank you for sharing. MRT was supposed to be constructed above ground. However the rich and the famous of the five affluent villages refused to be seen in their naked self sunbathing near their pools/gardens hence at tremendous cost, that portion went underground.
Those are just here says, besides even before construction the area was already devloped for high income and high rise office buildings which kind of defeats the purpose of your statement since office workers get to have a peak on those so called luxurious living.
The MRT went underground between Magallanes to Estrella because they planned to have a spur line in Ayala avenue.

Meron mga police mobile nakabantay pero wala naman ako nakita sinita at wala ako nakikita naglalakad. .osy naka motorcycle at mga nag bibike po ang nakita ko. Kung meron man naglalakad iilan ilan lang po. Meron din mga mmda naka bantay.

@@RalphMijares unsolicited advice ko po lang ito sir. As much as possible avoid going out if wala naman gagawin po. Takot ako lumabas ng car at matamaan ng outside air. Feeling ko parang nasa hangin rin ang virus kaya umiiwas ako for safety. And always wear a mask and bring proper documents if you really need to go out.
