I don't know if this will help but a little advice from a Mother in her later years. In decades to come when your children are making families of their own, it won't be the projects that will come or where you have been but it will be the precious moments spent with your children while they are learning and growing. Dont be too hard on yourselves when you think you've got the balancing act out of sync, you are only Human after all.🥰
I agree. It's a struggle but your times with your kids is key. The projects don't have to be done quickly, though there is always the desire to do more and faster. Also while filming slows things down, the memories on camera will also be special for you and your children when they are grown. However two videos a week are a LOT!
As a single mother of 4 it was a struggle each and every day to stay present. Some days it was all I could do was to just do what was in front of me. Brene Brown says she and her husband check in on each others energy levels, I.e., she was operating on 20% and Steve says okay I’ll pick up the 80. Or vice versa. When their energy levels didn’t come up to 100% they agreed to sit down and discuss how they could move forward. Sounds like a great way to not get resentments and to create great communication skills. Have a great week and give yourselves permission to just film once a week. Takes the pressure off. Love and hugs from your friend Denie
Hang in there guys. Tara don't stress about things getting done. You guys have accomplished sooo much already & it is fine to take a break & relax. The farm is beautiful & so are all of you! I just enjoy watching your channel & seeing the children grow as well as you & John efforts to make your farm so productive & just gorgeous! Much respect to you both!
Don't stress yourselves out too much. I had my second baby when the first was 16 months old. The 3rd two years later. It was HARD and you get NOTHING productive done. They get into everything, need a lot of attention, supervision, you don't sleep enough, don't have down time, walk on egg shells all the time, the lot of it. Mine are a bit older now, so let me say this: there is no shame in finding a daycare or nanny to help Crusoe learn Portuguese and give you guys a break for a few hours. I didn't have the money or the community for it and the reality is that ot burns you out eventually. You've had the youtube channel forever, the filming isn't the issue. So give yourself grace and allow help. It will benefit the boys learning the language early and it will be better for your mental health and your relationship. Warmly, 7-years-into-the-future-you ❤
This is so true, you need help with the children, I have three myself, I know. I used to hire a babysitter to look after them, so I could enjoy doing the ironing.
An evening out for a meal does wonders, leave the boys with a babysitter from time to time and why not a cinema or theatre after. make these nights your special treat. 😊😊
You will be surprised how in future years how your son will remember the simple things you are doing now, I am 74yrs and my father has been dead 20yrs, but now when my grandkids ask me a question I remember what my dad told me all those years ago. The other thing, I suspect you are both stressed out, trying to keep us the public happy. It's time to switch the cameras off for a few weeks. And have a rest....You are not alone and we will all be here when you return...
So cute of Crusoe, mummy hurry up, run, chop chop 😅 And a good adwise. Take time for yourself. You do not have to deliver new projects every week. Take it slow, enjoy the time when the kids are small. Hugs ❤️
Maria, my Grandmother use to say the same thing. Enjoy your kids while they are young. Teens are much harder and leaving home heart breaking. My 3 are in their 40's now. I remember their young years. It seems like a life time ago. Maybe that is why I like watching Tara with her babies. 😅 Tara, good advice here. ❤
We to have a farm work hard had three kids enjoy them it goes so quick for me you bringing back s so many memory. We are back out travelling now and our kids are all grown up and doing their own thing❤
Agreed. Slow down a bit dont run everywhere, and we will still enjoy the little things you do. Twice a week videos is taxing and invasive too! Thanks for what you do.
Tara please don't worry you look great and your personally is super cool. You are a very sweet lady and I love watching your videos. I truly feel "at home" when I sit and watch. Your boys are glad to have you as there Mommy. ❤❤❤❤
Your both give total commitment to your family, your projects and your channel. Maybe time to take a step back and relax a little for a few weeks, until you're both feeling yourselves again. We'll still be here rooting for you. ❤ your family must come first ❤
I myself have felt slightly worried about the pace you two are keeping. I am a little worried that you will forget the miracle you have in each other. Don’t forget to just have fun and enjoy!
John, you are a trooper. As ANY parent knows it's hard to even make dinner with kiddos running around, let alone BUILD an outdoor kitchen! Your border is looking great. I love that you've mixed up the colors and it looks like you've got some foundational plants there that are doing really well. My suggestion for filming is to get some static GoPro's on tripods, let them film and time lapse footage. We don't need to see everything, and Lord knows the conversations people have while trying to do BIG builds are short and sweet with a series of grunts and head nods! Tara, when I was in landscape school, I had a small company, and I had 2 different professors (1 man and 1 woman) BEG me not to get into the maintenance side of the business. Their argument was the everyday grind would wear me down and I should stick to the design portion of the business. Well, me being the FEMINIST that I am, didn't listen, and 5 years and 110 customers later, I was totally burned out and out of the business. The fact is, your body has just done something John's can't. You've had a baby, please give yourself some grace. Now, as hard as this is to admit, John's body can do some things that OURS can't. I say that with a grimace, and it has taken me my 53 years to learn that FACT to be true. He can carry the big stuff and build, and you can make the big design decisions and be the supportive, loving wife you are, again, think about purchasing some GoPro's, stick them in various spots around the property and just get on with you day. You guys make beautiful, family friendly content, but we (your iphone) don't need to be in your faces 24/7! We love you Guys!
You are both doing amazingly.....I’m not sure what the issue is but you all sleeping in one room isn’t ideal....had you thought of putting a sofa bed in living area and Tara sleeps there with Sawyer while you John share a bedroom with Crusoe?......that way you might get more sleep......❤
Beautifully said. So supportive.. . . Courtney. Mr and Mrs Newby you guys are amazing!!! Your boys are having the most amazing life and they think it is just normal. I wish every child could live the same way. Barefoot, running in nature, watching in awe as the bugs and bees assist with your garden. Gosh Caruso's understanding and vocabulary is mind blowing. John's patience with Caruso while trying to cement in the posts deserved an A+++. Even if internally it was frustrating and was stop, start to your thoughts, your little man really was included and he really thought he was helping. How different the world would be if all children could grow up in a similar environment. Be gentle with your selves. We love and feel truly spoilt that we get to share your journey. Much love and big hugs from South Australia.
Absolute joy watching John and Crusoe working together even though it poses it’s difficulties. Well done for your patience John and would you like another stone Daddy🤣
@@TheNewbys Crusoe is smart as a whip and absorbing so much knowledge from watching you two. He will grow up knowing how to tackle any job, be fearless in his willingness to try new things, and extremely kind. He is already quite verbal with an amazing vocabulary for his age. You two are doing a fabulous job of raising your sons to be good people.
Hang in there guys. It can be overwhelming to raise a young family, build a dream property, do 2 RUclipss video contents per week and adjusting to a new country, learning a language and trying to fit in without family and long time friends around… we’ve done it in Chile (minus the RUclips) and it can be overwhelming sometimes. Thanks for being open with us. Don’t forget to take a day off a week and if I may suggest, schedule it on your calendar… a day off the farm or just sitting reading a book with the children playing and trying to not stress and enjoy being together. On another note, I could hear Crusoe starting to talk with a British accent when he says mummy, daddy… it’s so cute ❤ love you guys.
Tara, you get a lot of exercise doing everything around the farm, the children and around the home. You are becoming more fit than you realize! If change is coming, that's life. Just don't leave us! We're willing to go through whatever is next for you. John, your vision for the outside kitchen is awesome!
When the outdoor kitchen is done it is going to look wonderful sitting within the natural elements. I am praying that your untreated new wood doesn't turn into hockey sticks given the planning and all the work John will be doing along with his pint-sized construction assistant. I can understand how difficult it must be to build and film the build all with your busy little boy at your elbow but I hope you will take into account that you are able to have time with him that you wouldn't if you were parents going off to a 9 to 5 job and he will remember these wonderful times as he gets older. In your case I guess the trick is finding the balance and I hope that you do what's best for your family and not worry about us - we all want the best for you.
The trick is definitely finding the balance Cec and I do love that I get to spend this much time with him, it is amazing. Thanks so much for watching friend 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Shame you didn't get to deliver the wood closer to house, such hard work to carry it. Tara you are a very strong woman, hard working and best mum. Starting a new life in a foreign country and with two very small children is not easy, you are an ace. I also praise John for been such a wonderful dad, husband and good at anything he does.💪💪❤️
Love watching Crusoe balancing on the wood and helping John. He is a clever and sweet little boy. Several of the channels that I watch have been suffering a bit from what they have called a burnout of sorts. Some have cut way back on their videos. Changing of times in the RUclips world?
My goodness you guys have so much to keep up with. This week seems like there’s a burnout or overwhelmed factor, and I worry that filming is a stressful as well. I hope not. We (your audience) care about you, so please take care of yourselves.
Thank you so much Lynn, we really do appreciate all of the support! We always love sharing all these exciting projects and plans with you, let's hope we can find a balance of sorts 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Yes I agree! Enjoy that life! Don’t let it be stressful to please your audience. You both work so hard! You don’t want to look back and feel that you missed opportunity with your little ones! Tara, you are beautiful and you will get fit without even trying because you eat well… Give it time little Mommie! Love listening to Caruso… And that proves how well you are doing with those wonderful kids. And John, how hard you work… such a good patient Dad! ❤love you all! Love your videos but if you have to take a break…I so understand 💕Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦and visiting Portugal in September 👏👏Till your next video…Take care❣️
Just to let you know, I for one really enjoy your vlogs and appreciate how hard it must be to juggle all that you do. You certainly wouldn’t lose me if you took a few weeks break from RUclips. We all need a break sometimes and it’s a shame if others wouldn’t understand that. I hope you can rest a little somehow ❤
Tara you and John have your hands full. Film less if you have to but please keep filming We love sharing your life and especially those two adorable children. John isn't afraid to tackle any job needing to be done. He is amazing. And you Tara ,You are super woman as far as I am concerned Just think of all you do in a days time. Your a very good mother and a hard worker. You look amazing as well. I admire you very much .
Watching John build, make space for Crusoe to be involved and respond to him, while filming and working out how to create the outdoor kitchen, I was already thinking, how does he do it? And then he said how hard it was. Tara, as a mum of four, now all grown up, I know the challenge of finding time for yourself, but SO important. Sending love to you both ❤️
I just want to give you guys a big hug. It was that look on your faces at the end when you were trying to explain, without too much detail, what's going on... I look forward to Sunday to hear what's on your heart. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to make so much content consistently, moving cameras constantly, editing, voiceovers, and then doing all of that with all your projects, keeping a homestead, plus your children being involved every step of the way too. It is a lot and I admire how far you've already come. Do look after yourselves. Rest is super important. I wanted to say your wellbeing is far more important than content, but then realised this is also your livelihood... I'll wait for Sunday. Sterkte ❤
John and Tara, you do whatever you need to in order to balance everything. You have your priorities straight. Nothing is more important than your beautiful family. If you cut back on filming, change the format, anything…know that we all love you. I’d follow you anywhere dear friend!
The speed of the project doesn’t get you new subscribers. The interaction between y’all as a family is what is interesting about the channel. Go at your comfortable pace. Letting the viewers enjoy a bit of your life is all that matters. So, relax & enjoy the moment.😊 Meanwhile, Wow! Kruso walking across the plank shows that he is very agile and coordinated. That was really cute. As always, I enjoy your new project.😊
Dearest Newbys I really feel I wanna share something quite personal with you, probably rather unusual to read on public plattforms, but I am a highly sensitive and very emotional being and simply want to express my gratitude and love for your videos, your work, your shared passion, your parenthood, your visions, your explorations, your honest filming and how you show yourselves with all your joy, excitement as well as struggle and worries! I always appreciate raw true expression and I felt so relieved when you John, and later on Tara, shared how it can be challenging to do everything you do plus filming plus having an enthusiastic toddler next to you who seems to really want your attention besides all that work. As a kindergarten teacher I know very well how important it is to actually give attention to children, and they can feel when it's real or when it's just inbetween something and would ask for more and more and more. This episode when I heard Crusoe say multiply times "quick quick, run run" like I usually have heared you saying to him, I felt a little sad. And noticed some kind of tension rising inside my body, like a stressful vibe. Normally when watching your chosen life; deeply connected to nature, with some healthy distance from the noisy, hectic, overloaded and ever lasting demanding world while being so patient, playful and caring with your children, animals and treeroots (🥲); always makes me feel so so touched, encouraged, joyful, motivated and inspired! But today it struck me, how come everything has to be quick quick suddenly, why should Crusoe be quick quick, now he's even turned it around for you and asks you to be quick quick? Seeing you Tara feeling frustrated with your energy level and physicalness, resonates a lot with me wishing for more strength very often as well. At the moment I am getting educated at Red School www.redschool.net/ which support women in how to step into the power of their menstrual cycle / or moon cycle when pregnant/breastfeeding/menopause and use its deep wisom and different qualities in different times of the cycle to feel empowered and live life accordingly to mood, energy level, hormone change, etc. What I have learnt so far is that many women are actually burnt out because of living and competing with a mostly male demanding world and because of not taking care well and valuing their natural rythm of their cycle, e.g. rest and surrender during the menstrual bleed in order to recharge. I am exploring this for myself right now and really feel how I wanna produce and keep on going constantly but when listening deeper I sense some tiredness, and sometimes it can really help to actually rest instead of pushing myself, because after this deep rest there will be a natural momentum coming again which is more powerful than any forced push. I mention all of this above not to critisice you and really do hope I found the right words (english is not my native language) but because I felt an urge to share, and maybe something of my writing would inspire you or even help? At last I wanna tell you how much I enjoy your shared experiences and yes, I am really fascinated by your drive to start projects and your enthusiastic beginners-mind plus 'we can do everything' - this feels so uplifting! At the same time I would totally understand now, that you have shared something feels not quite free flowing anymore too, if you stepped back, stepped out of constant producing, instead stepped into a break, into rest or whatever you need and maybe explore and live more that slow slow slow after all your amazing, impressive and big work. I felt kind of relieved and had some tears when you shared from your heart so openly that it's difficult, and then I knew why I had felt that tension inside of me before. Thank you for showing yourselves so pure!!! I see you! I hear you! John and Tara, your wish and vision to get going with projects faster in order to harvest the bliss sooner, your excitement and tiredness at the same time and also I see you dear Crusoe wanting to play and be seen! Please let me know if anything is not clear or if you have questions about my feelings and personal observations. I am sending all my love, understanding and gratitude to you to Portugal and your beautiful farm life and curious to see how everything will unfold. 🧡💛💚💙💜❤
"Aqui é bom, obrigado. Sim." Was this beautiful sounding Portuguese coming from John Newby's mouth? Amazing well done!!! What a joy to hear how well you are learning to speak Portuguese! And thank you for sharing with us at 28:00. Please do or not do anything as you feel best. I love your videos, but if they were to ever stop it would be just as wonderful knowing that your kindness, love, and very hard work is happening somewhere in our world. Tudo de bom, para vocês agora e sempre!!!
I loved that all your wood came from one tree - and that there will be no waste. It seems such a better attitude to trees. I really hope you can reach a workable system that includes enjoying the journey. It's the most important bit of getting from A to B, not the destination. Remembering what you said about never getting to sit out on the lawn, how about some videos where you do just that and talk about what you've been doing, maybe have a wander and a tour of what's been done, meanwhile just get on without the pressure of having to film absolutely everything (If you're anything like me, you'll end up with a 5 hour video that you have to spend another hour or so cutting down). I've enjoyed those times when you share your sense of joy, I've enjoyed seeing you all enjoy each other. I'd still enjoy watching that sort of thing even if your weren't following yourself around with a camera all the time. I look forward to Sunday and hope that the feedback you get today can help you find a way forward that works best for you.
Bless you all! You have a lot on your plates-raising 2 beautiful little boys, and a list of projects that seems to grow by the day! PLEASE, both of you, take care of yourselves! Your RUclips family is going to be here for you, no matter what! We would rather see you post a video once a week, than burn yourself out trying to do too much! Remember, Crusoe & Sawyer need their mommy & daddy! We all love you! ❤️ You are in my prayers! 💜🙏 Hugs to Crusoe & Sawyer! 🥰
Concrete blocks tree roots from oxygen and water. As time goes on, tree roots need fresh air, so they’ll again grow above ground. This time, they’ll crack the concrete, making a big mess.. Alternatively, covering the tree roots with plastic will deprive the roots of air and moisture which could fatally damage the tree.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to work on a project, spend time with Carruso and film.....i understand how hard it is....but i pray you don't leave....no pressure😊. It is true JOY watching your garden grow, all the improvements you guys have don and continue to do....and listen that sweet, sweet Caruso! What precious souls you all are! You have to do whats right for your family....much love and many hugs!❤
Tara and John...You both are amazing in all you do in a day .🤩😍🥳...With a toddler,a baby and alot of projects happening ..This will be the busiest time of your life & the hardest .. ..Dont burn yourselves out ..Projects will be there tomorrow .....Pat yourselves on the back for job well done .👍You are both loving ,patient parents ..that is a gift .💝
You two are working so incredibly hard. Goodness just raising two boys and tending to household obligations not to mention the Farm!!!! You’re doing a fabulous job, it truly shows in Crusoe, he is such a bright inquisitive young man, and this is all due to you both. John you are a genius…your vision and talent just amazes us. Maybe take a break from filming…we will all be here! ~Cara ❤❤❤❤❤ Lots of love from American
Tara, thank you for being so honest with us. As so many others have said do NOT be so hard on yourselves, the amount of work that you have done around your farm is extraordinary and a great credit to you both. As well as all that work you have carried Sawyer for 9 months inside you now you are carrying him on your hip, as well as keeping a home running, looking after all 4 of you PLUS your " happy place" . I am a little tired just writing it all down. Please, please just take one day at a time and if a " project" takes 3, 4 or even 5 videos, who cares? I am very sure that ALL your followers are just happy to see what has been done between each video, I know I am. If I lived next door( or something) I would love to help you, but Australia is a bit far away, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers regularly. 🙏🙏❤❤
OMG, "Chop chop, Mummy!" 🥰 Too cute! 😍 Tara, the amount of moving about that you must have to do with all the running around after Crusoe and Sawyer, and the chickens; tending to the vegetable garden and all the other things that "not farm" life brings, please don't beat yourself up just because the wood - which as you rightly pointed out was wet and so much heavier than it really should be - was too heavy to carry! I believe you are doing far better than you think * hugs * Also, I know you said don't worry about whatever your going to say more of in the next video, but you guys are just too lovely not to worry about! That cliffhanger has made Sunday seem such a long way off, but I shall be keeping you all in my thoughts until then 🤗💚 *Hugs * to you all! xx
He definitely knows how to keep us very busy Kimberley haha thank you so much for your thoughts and love friend. It isn't always easy and we will share more about it on Sunday 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Tara, it’s not even a year since you had major surgery and with nursing Sawyer and caring for an energetic toddler, a massive (and amazing) veg patch and umpteen other projects. Give yourself some credit. You are incredible. In no time Sawyer will be walking and becoming more independent. And more importantly as you get more sleep, your strength and energy will change. . You have achieved SO much. A fantastic couple. Thanks for sharing❤❤
You guys are such hard workers. Take time for yourselves and perhaps one vlog instead of twice a week. Thanks for sharing your lives with the RUclips community. 🤗
Hello Newbys: I t looks like you will have a great area for a "staycation!" whenever you choose! Your garden is coming along very well-could use a bit of mulch though, to keep the moisture around the plants. But, you are doing great-young families require lots of attention! You must feel that it's all work and without your friends and family closer it could be a bit overwhelming! It gets better, hang in there❤
Im in awe of your patience, I have five children and four of them are boys and the energy they had at that age was exhausting. I love the content you put out so if you decide to post once a week i completely understand. ❤ Mind yourselves 💚
Absolutely! Once a week enough, they have us very spoiled with two episodes! Personally, it is a moment that I look forward to. It is relaxing and joyful to see how you enjoy simple things, especially how you treat each other with so much love and respect. Take the time you want, when you come back we'll be here! ❤❤❤❤
I think sometimes the relentlessness of having two small kids and a busy job is just overwhelming. I found it very hard as there was literally no time for myself - ever. I also think you guys are probably missing travelling and the freedom that goes with it. Life really does change when you have a family and settle down. It’s a time of huge transition and readjustment which can be really hard. I think working out what brings you joy and trying to make sure you incorporate that into your daily or weekly lives and also stepping back from work a bit would be a good idea. It doesn’t have to be forever. Maybe one film a week rather than two? Also I think every one here is just happy with pottering around the garden with you guys so you really don’t need to always have a project to keep us entertained. Maybe you could do more day trips to scratch the travel itch/ have some fun? Anyway best wishes to you all and I hope you can find your joy again soon! (I’m feeling much the same way if that’s any consolation!) x
You're doing a fantastic job working around two little people, yet building and harvesting and everything else. It's just fine to let the camera run with good music and let us just watch. I think that would be just fine for most of us. You've taken on some huge tasks while caring for your wee boys. Take care of yourselves first.
Hello family! I totally understand what you are conveying. There are so many high expectations and RUclips is not quite kind at times. All, I can encourage you guys with is that the farm is a long journey. Pace yourself. Videos don’t have to show always a complete project. This is a real family sharing on real time a journey. I love having to come back for more… like the Tiny house. The suspense of weeks and months and the ultimate reveal of a job well done. It gives me personally the courage to start an unknown project, to explore and learn what I am capable of, and to think big of horizons I never thought I could reach. I absolutely love your content and will be here to cheer you all the way, no matter what. Love you guys- Mariana from Jersey ❤❤❤❤
Agreed. Feel free to just prop the camera and time lapse if your feeling up to it. If not just show off your finished work. I’m not that tech savvy myself but during COVID I had to teach sewing online. I’m a more a visual and hands on person it was extremely difficult to handle all the tech and do my lessons. I saw some of my colleagues were so natural behind the camera and just popped out videos like nothing, while for me it was a laborious all day struggle to make a 30 minutes tutorial. 😅 So I get it! It’s hard to work, play and live and try and capture it all on camera. Then go through all the footage and slice it into a beautiful 30 minute video! Take a load off and relax. We’ll still be here! ❤
I'm so sorry to hear you've been feeling your life balance slipping, I hope you can find a way to get back to living your dream with your family as a priority. No matter what you chose to do, you'll always have my support and no doubt, the support of everyone following you.
It is very hard to do projects with small children but there is nothing wrong with feeling overwhelmed at times you are both human And are brilliant parents love watching sending a massive hug and support to you all love watching you guys are my happy place x
You need to buy the farm a quad and build a wagon you can attach when needed. That’s what we do on our property. Buying used they’re inexpensive and riding them is so easy!!
Love the way Crusoe says "Daddy" - Daddeeeeyyy, or Mummeeeyyy! So funny! Or "chop chop"! Every epishode, new bocabulary! This toddler phase is amazing! And the little one is growing so fast - within a few months you will have two toddlers running around and interacting! Fun for us to see, not so easy for you to take care of!
John you are a wonderful daddy, I wish I had a dad like you. Tara you are a loving lovely mom. My mom was patient and loving too. He is getting so much time with both of you and that will build an amazing boy and young man. Love you both and your sweeet boys.
I've been watching ur beautiful Africa road trip! Wow!! Big hugs for Crusoe and Sawyer, love the little cartoon in the beginning so cute! Tara don't be so hard on yourself love, a second baby drained a little of ur strength it's going to take a little time! You certainly get plenty of exercise u just need strength, you look amazing! When the meloncony passes you will be back to normal! ❤️❤❤❤❤❤❤
I know what I think doesn’t really matter to anyone but from a very proud and caring Grandma from Australia I have so much respect and genuine admiration for you Tara and you John you are the best Mum and Dad that Crusoe and Sawyer could have your patience and love shine through that is why Crusoe is the most well adjusted little man and it won’t be long and Sawyer will be following in his big brother’s footsteps. Don’t make the mistake of burning out life is a journey not a race. For what it is worth don’t forget to take time to smell the roses on the way. Much love and respect remember Rome wasn’t built in a day how is that for a few old cliches. Stay proud stay strong take the pressure off we all know how important it is to rest as well. ❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍💙💙💙
John knows way more about wood than the average portuguese, we dont use as many wood as is used in northern countries. Tara, you do an amazing fitting routine with all the work you do on the farm while taking care of 2 little boys along the way. The work both of you do in the farm is incredible demanding physically. Most of us would not be able to carry such tasks.
@@qwone9161 a humidade média em helsínquia (o John construiu uma case em madeira na finlândia), não é inferior à de amarante, por isso a questão do bolor será irrelevante.
Love that John is starting another new project with his little helper....love hearing Crusoe saying "mommy" and "daddy" ..... also loved the music with this video! Thanks!
It's incredible how much you have achieved. It's difficult to work with two little ones. Everything is slower but the time you are spending with your children is precious. They are learning so much. You are an inspiration. I wish I could babysit for you a couple of days. Don't desperate. Good things take time and effort. The education you are giving your children is a treasure. It's the best time invested in life. Who cares how long a certain project takes. The main project is your family and you are doing very welll in that area.
Hi Tara and John..we're "newbys" to your blog! Found you a few weeks ago and then decided to go back and have been catching up in our armchairs from a cold, wet Cape Town. Have just about caught up (did Wales with you today..awesome) . Be kinder to yourselves, the filming of your adventures and lives has been top notch. Some great advices in the comments. You're doing so well as a family...Thank-you for sharing so much. God bless!
Humans get overwhelmed time and again it’s natural but a lot of folks would love to be where you are, hang in there by Gods grace and guidance. it’s inspiring to watch your wonderful progress on the many projects. All the best with the kitchen it’s a great idea! It’s lovely to watch a growing family be so patient and get on with a daily routine - As for the filming it looks lovely from our side, thanks
I love how John was explaining things to Crusoe while he was trying to work. It's very difficult with a toddler underfoot, but I think you two handle things so admirably and calmly. Well done! You have more patience than me. Crusoe was so adorable helping his daddy.
Strength comes along in numerous ways Tara so don’t beat yourself up. You have tons of inner strength and you keep pushing forward. You’re a beautiful young mum who has to think about the children first. Keep tending your vegetable garden and give John the building projects which he craves. Strength in teamwork.
I watch my grandson 5 days a week plus he and his mom and dad live with us. I wouldn’t trade this time for the world but holy cow do I get worn out. I can’t imagine doing what you and John have taken on plus looking after your 2 beautiful boys. I must say I REALLY look forward to my glass of wine at the end of the day lol. You are both doing a stellar job so be patient with yourselves ❤️
Dont be hard on yourselves whether about exercise or building or filming. You are at such a busy time of your lives when it is so hard to get anything done with two such little ones! I enjoy your videos so much and getting a peek into the lives of your wonderful family. But you can only do what you can do. Good luck!
Sometimes trying to do projects and balancing it with small children can be absolutely exhausting. I get great joy watching Crusoe feel like a helper in all projects. He is learning more than most kids his age about cooperation, participation and team work. What a great job you are doing with the farm but more than that is what you are doing as parents. Hang in there and in a few years you will get some rest and miss all the chaos! Lol, from a Grandma
Great episode. It’s clear you’re mindfully looking at the process, the future of your channel and your level of happiness. To those points the process should evolve and switch up. It’s hard enough scripting a project but it must be 5 times more complicated scripting a project that includes your children. I enjoy the projects and enjoy a simple check in on the kids. For me the right split is 85% project (gathering materials, building, remodeling, gardening, and transforming the land) and 15% everything else. As to your channel, it should reflect what you think you can uniquely share. I think it’s being optimistic, creative and unexpected). More than anything else, focus on what makes you happy. Take us to the lumber yard or the local market looking for furniture. All of that is part of creating the home your building. Finally take a week or two off each quarter just to be with each other, with family and with friends. Tell your viewers you’re off for a couple of weeks. We don’t need to know why, where or with who. Just kick back. Trust me we all do that and you should too. You’re a great couple. Whatever channel you move forward with should first and foremost make you happy and accomplished. Go with your heart and we will follow.
Sending you all a BIG HUG… it’ll all be AOK soon! Managing two very young children and all the big projects on your beautiful farm is no mean feat… you are doing great! Take a deep breath… relax… smile ❤
You have to do what’s best for your sweet family, not the channel! I speak for myself when I say that I adore watching you in all that you do - especially how wonderful both of you are with Crusoe - but I would feel bad if I knew the rigor of doing it all came at a price that takes away from your sanity and family time. Thank you for sharing part of your life, but please always do what’s best for YOU💕😘
I simply love your family. As a great grandma I treasure memories of times spent with my children. Perhaps you might consider taking snapshots of projects to share instead of filming everything enabling you to have quality time with the boys while they’re young. You are so creative I’m certain you could do it with voice overs. I’m going to watch regardless. Big hugs to all of you
Im not a mum but have seen my two sisters (and their partners) go through this stage as you are in and I was (and still am) amazed at their relentless endurance and sacrifice. (Mind boggles how mum did it with 4!). Be kind to yourselves! Like so so many others here commenting, you and John are doing so well on so many fronts, its quite inspiring really!! Also, amazing watching how John’s mind works, can’t wait to see that outdoor kitchen! And, I love everytime Crusoe pulls out the Zim! Absolutely precious! ❤❤
And then John had to carry all that wood to the location of the build! Tara you carry an important treasure all the time ! You are such an awesome family. Love those boys ! Another great project for us to follow. Thank you for going to the extra effort to film it !! Much love from California ! 💕🌷💕
I so enjoy your family and hope and pray your struggles whatever they may be will lighten. You bring me such joy. I am of Portuguese heritage but have never been to Portugal. I am living vicariously through you all. Caruso is such an incredible “helper”. Your parenting is to be commended.
Dear Tara and John, your videos have always been fun and interesting to watch. These days they are also stunning, inspiring and so wonderfully authentic. Thank you for all your hard work. You are Loved.
Crusoe helping took me back quite a few years. My dad was always creating something, never sat still and I used to love watching and trying to help . It used to drive him mad and I'm afraid he didn't have your patience. He'd tell me to go and play with my dolls...Which I totally ignored :) He gave up in the end and started explaining what he was doing although I wasn't allowed to touch I could only watch. When I'd grown up and married I undertook many DIY projects including making our bed and built in closet, building a stone fireplace and even mixing my own sand and cement. I'm too old now but still miss the joy of doing it myself.
It was so priceless when Crusoe keep saying quick quick mommy hurry mommy, run run mommy ,and chop chop mommy. John when you said the boss has spoken I didn’t hear Crusoe lol. Take care.
Aww I love chop chop Mummy! So adorable. Tara you look amazing, I only thought the other day how lovely you were and it's not that long since you had Sawyer. Everything will fall into place. Sending lots of love and hugs to you all xx
Crusoe is the junior carpenter and gardener in training🙌🙌🙌 Well done Mum and Dad👏👏🌈💚 The amount of patience needed is enormous! ❤❤❤I commend you for having the faith to forge on and being open to whatever is around the corner....soft knees, buckets of love and a good night's sleep every once in a while will stand you in good form🙏💙🤞💛 Be well and see ya next time!!👋👋👋👋
John always remember you will never get these memories back when with the boys are young. Having the video's of them helping you working on the property will become priceless someday. Just hang in there you guys are doin a wonderful job.
I love the animation and map of the farm. It help to understand it more. Regarding filming, building and Crusoe i can understand it is difficult. I see others just put camera on stand But of course there are those close up shorts . Others with Big projects end up having cameraman. At the end I believe it will work out for the best Best wishes with new project
John & Tara, hats off to you guys, your doing an amazing job both on your home and as delightful parents. you said it: BE BRAVE, THINK BIG, you've got lots of time to achieve your dreams, and EXPLORE a way to not be to hard on yourselves. Small kids and work is tough going. Lots of hugs from Ireland 🤗
you know what? Its okay to be kind to yourselves, wishing you well as you work out what you need. Also, Crusoe is speaking so clearly. Its a delight to hear. please take care, give yourselves a break, you've had a big year!
Love the honesty about how you are both feeling, but with my own 2 kids only 6 months ahead of your 2, it honestly seems like you are both doing an amazing job. Doing any of these jobs with a toddler around wanting attention and engagement is so difficult but Crusoe will be able to look back in later years and understand why he grows up to be so successfull. Because of moments like these, gathering stones to put in the concrete mix will likely be a memory to stay for ever, and be reminded of everytime he steps onto that kitchen deck. Im sure there are many unseen cross words and latent frustration, they'd be present with these projects regardless of the extra pressures of parenting, filming and monologing to camera. They will also be forgotten so quickly, the love you show the kids on camera will easily outdo the other moments and the real memories are made from the simplest things done together.
Sometimes you certainly feel overwhelmed with so many projects, 2 toddlers and so much to do. But you are dealing great with all, you are resilent and brave. It is part of the process of growing a family. You are amazing!🥰😘
Dear Tara, every mom feels a little bit over tired but this is just normal. You're so full of dedication towards what is your splendid world... So, please, be strong and take the daily strength lookin at Sawyer and Crusoe, John... Love your fantastic family, all your projects❤❤❤
It’s a lot of hard work keeping up with everything that’s going on, just remember you have to take time for yourselves and the family. Do one project at a time! 🥰🙏🏻🐓👶👶
Watching Crusoe help John is priceless! However, the challenge of building and filming while in the company of a “helpful” two year old is not lost on any of us who have been the parents of toddlers.🤪 Hang in there you two, parenting is not for the faint of heart and you two are doing an awesome job.💗

Can you teach Caruso to say Mr Wilson, 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't know if this will help but a little advice from a Mother in her later years. In decades to come when your children are making families of their own, it won't be the projects that will come or where you have been but it will be the precious moments spent with your children while they are learning and growing. Dont be too hard on yourselves when you think you've got the balancing act out of sync, you are only Human after all.🥰
Thank you for sharing that with us Lesley ❤️❤️❤️
AMEN!
Amen, too! 🙌🏼❣️
I absolutely love that animated introduction and music!
As John would say, BRILLIANT!
So glad you love it KG, we are using a freelance artist to do them for us. He is amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
I do too, KG. It's uplifting and loving. The Art work perfect. ♥️
Me too .i allso love it
The map is great for understanding where everything is on your property 👍
I think it would be great as a children’s book ❤
Hang in there guys. Tara don't stress about things getting done. You guys have accomplished sooo much already & it is fine to take a break & relax. The farm is beautiful & so are all of you! I just enjoy watching your channel & seeing the children grow as well as you & John efforts to make your farm so productive & just gorgeous! Much respect to you both!
Thank you so much Ellen. Your support means so much to us 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Tara, pregnant for 9 months, birth, nursing, caring for two young children, chickens and a beautiful garden, you’ve done an amazing job ❤😊
❤️❤️❤️
Warmly, 7-years-into-the-future-you ❤
Thank you for your support friend, it means so much to us ❤️❤️❤️
This is so true, you need help with the children, I have three myself, I know. I used to hire a babysitter to look after them, so I could enjoy doing the ironing.
Great suggestion. Would help the kids learn Portuguese too!
Hugs ❤️
⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
Maria, my Grandmother use to say the same thing. Enjoy your kids while they are young. Teens are much harder and leaving home heart breaking. My 3 are in their 40's now. I remember their young years. It seems like a life time ago. Maybe that is why I like watching Tara with her babies. 😅
Tara, good advice here.
Its extraordinary to see john and his interactions with his son, how patent, gentel, its very healing in a unkind world to see this thank you.
⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
Tara as sawyer grows and becomes heavier you will get stronger by carrying the little one. Etc so don't be defeated . You are doing amazing xx
Thank you so much Tracey ❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree!!!
Tara please don't worry you look great and your personally is super cool. You are a very sweet lady and I love watching your videos. I truly feel "at home" when I sit and watch. Your boys are glad to have you as there Mommy. ❤❤❤❤
Have a great day 😀
The daily work you do on your farm, will keep you fit and strong. Those 2 gorgeous boys will contribute to your health aswell 😅🩵
Your both give total commitment to your family, your projects and your channel. Maybe time to take a step back and relax a little for a few weeks, until you're both feeling yourselves again. We'll still be here rooting for you. ❤ your family must come first ❤
Thank you so much Catherine ⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
Saludos desde Chiapas México. I absolutely agree. I also think that once a week is enough.
I myself have felt slightly worried about the pace you two are keeping. I am a little worried that you will forget the miracle you have in each other. Don’t forget to just have fun and enjoy!
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much Courtney, we love hearing from you and your support means the world to us. Getting some GoPro's sounds like a great idea 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Barefoot, running in nature,
watching in awe as the bugs and bees assist with your garden.
That would be a real shame for Tara and John to sleep separately. I don't think a marriage should be that way. Just my opinion thougn.
Absolute joy watching John and Crusoe working together even though it poses it’s difficulties. Well done for your patience John and would you like another stone Daddy🤣
🤣 it can be difficult sometimes Angela, but I do love being able to spend time with him⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
@@TheNewbysyou are doing an amazing Job with everything that you juggle. What a team!
❤️❤️❤️
I Love watching Crusoe Working .Bless Him
🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
My goodness you guys have so much to keep up with. This week seems like there’s a burnout or overwhelmed factor, and I worry that filming is a stressful as well. I hope not. We (your audience) care about you, so please take care of yourselves.
Thank you so much Lynn, we really do appreciate all of the support! We always love sharing all these exciting projects and plans with you, let's hope we can find a balance of sorts 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Slow down my loves! I too worry about your burnout! A concerned “Mom from Michigan!”

Thank you so much Jacqueline 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Tara you and John have your hands full. Film less if you have to but please keep filming We love sharing your life and especially those two adorable children. John isn't afraid to tackle any job needing to be done. He is amazing. And you Tara ,You are super woman as far as I am concerned Just think of all you do in a days time. Your a very good mother and a hard worker. You look amazing as well. I admire you very much .
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Ella ❤️❤️❤️
So, relax & enjoy the moment.😊
Meanwhile,
Wow! Kruso walking across the plank shows that he is very agile and coordinated. That was really cute.
As always, I enjoy your new project.😊
CRUSOE is so cute and helpful to his daddy and daddy very patient love watching 😊❤
Dearest Newbys
I really feel I wanna share something quite personal with you, probably rather unusual to read on public plattforms, but I am a highly sensitive and very emotional being and simply want to express my gratitude and love for your videos, your work, your shared passion, your parenthood, your visions, your explorations, your honest filming and how you show yourselves with all your joy, excitement as well as struggle and worries!
Thank you so much for the suggestion Ruth. We love hearing from you and your support means so much to us 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Bless you all! 🥰
❤️❤️❤️
Concrete blocks tree roots from oxygen and water. As time goes on, tree roots need fresh air, so they’ll again grow above ground. This time, they’ll crack the concrete, making a big mess..
Alternatively, covering the tree roots with plastic will deprive the roots of air and moisture which could fatally damage the tree.
Thanks for the advice Terry, will definitely look into that 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
I can only imagine how difficult it is to work on a project, spend time with Carruso and film.....i understand how hard it is....but i pray you don't leave....no pressure😊.
~Cara ❤❤❤❤❤
Lots of love from American
Hi Cara. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. We really do appreciate all your kind words ❤️❤️❤️
If I lived next door( or something) I
would love to help you, but Australia is a bit far away, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers regularly. 🙏🙏❤❤
OMG, "Chop chop, Mummy!" 🥰 Too cute! 😍
Tara, the amount of moving about that you must have to do with all the running around after Crusoe and Sawyer, and the chickens; tending to the vegetable garden and all the other things that "not farm" life brings, please don't beat yourself up just because the wood - which as you rightly pointed out was wet and so much heavier than it really should be - was too heavy to carry!
I believe you are doing far better than you think * hugs *
Also, I know you said don't worry about whatever your going to say more of in the next video, but you guys are just too lovely not to worry about! That cliffhanger has made Sunday seem such a long way off, but I shall be keeping you all in my thoughts until then 🤗💚
*Hugs * to you all! xx
He definitely knows how to keep us very busy Kimberley haha thank you so much for your thoughts and love friend. It isn't always easy and we will share more about it on Sunday 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
I allso hope every thing is ok .

Querida familia! Tomaros vuestro tiempo! Si no podéis todos los miércoles editar vídeos os esperamos en domingo!. La vida os sonrie❤❤️🎇🌈
Do you at all comprehend how MUCH you are loved ? You are such a special family…chop chop! Run run 🏃♀️
Ah Ziska, thank you for this comment. It really does mean the world to us ❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love that you both let Crusoe ‘help’ even when it takes longer. You are wonderful parents!
Hello Newbys: I t looks like you will have
a great area for a "staycation!" whenever
you choose! Your garden is coming along
very well-could use a bit of mulch though,
to keep the moisture around the plants. But,
you are doing great-young families require
lots of attention! You must feel that it's all
work and without your friends and family
closer it could be a bit overwhelming! It
gets better,hang in there❤
Im in awe of your patience, I have five children and four of them are boys and the energy they had at that age was exhausting.
Thanks so much for all your support Norma. It means so much to us 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
Hello family!
Hello Mariana. Thank you so much for your suggestion friend, we love hearing from you ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so sorry to hear you've been feeling your life balance slipping, I hope you can find a way to get back to living your dream with your family as a priority. No matter what you chose to do, you'll always have my support and no doubt, the support of everyone following you.
Thank you so much friend 🏡😊🇵🇹❤️
It is very hard to do projects with small children but there is nothing wrong with feeling overwhelmed at times you are both human And are brilliant parents love watching sending a massive hug and support to you all love watching you guys are my happy place x
Thank you so much Daniela. Your support means so much to us ⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
You need to buy the farm a quad and build a wagon you can attach when needed.
⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
John you are a wonderful daddy, I wish I had a dad like you. Tara you are a loving lovely mom. My mom was patient and loving too. He is getting so much time with both of you and that will build an amazing boy and young man. Love you both and your sweeet boys.
Thank you for your lovely comment Ruth ⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
Soo in love with my grand babies. Can't wait for Sunday, hope all is well. The new project is going be awesome.🎉 ❤
They love you too Mum! Thank you, we are very excited about this project but it can get hard sometimes. We all send you and Dad lots of love 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹

Take time that you need for your family. We will all be here . Sometimes you need time to just breath and enjoy each other . Love your family !

Thank you for your lovely comment TyMark. Your support means so much to us 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
John doesn't know about mold how much the average portuguese does.

God bless!
❤️❤️❤️
Humans get overwhelmed time and again it’s natural but a lot of folks would love to be where you are, hang in there by Gods grace and guidance. it’s inspiring to watch your wonderful progress on the many projects. All the best with the kitchen it’s a great idea! It’s lovely to watch a growing family be so patient and get on with a daily routine - As for the filming it looks lovely from our side, thanks
Thank you Mohammed. Your support means so much to us 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹

I love how John was explaining things to Crusoe while he was trying to work. It's very difficult with a toddler underfoot, but I think you two handle things so admirably and calmly. Well done! You have more patience than me. Crusoe was so adorable helping his daddy.
Hello valorie
❤️❤️❤️
I think you both are amazing people and parents to your boys, the rest will all come together
Dont be hard on yourselves whether about exercise or building or filming. You are at such a busy time of your lives when it is so hard to get anything done with two such little ones! I enjoy your videos so much and getting a peek into the lives of your wonderful family. But you can only do what you can do. Good luck!
I LOVE your new intro! Beautiful art work, and great music 🥰
So glad you like them Annelies ❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
The sound of Crusoe digging just behind you it's amazing.
Thank you for sharing part of your life, but please always do what’s best for YOU💕😘
❤️❤️❤️
Be kind to yourselves this is a lot ❤ life is a lot 😊 having said that catching up with your progress every week is such a joy 🤩
Big hugs to all of you
We love watching you guys keep doing what you do

My dad was always creating something, never sat still and I used to love watching and trying to help
Are you going to weatherproof the wood?
I think we might Maria 🔨🪵😊❤️🏡🇵🇹
It was so priceless when Crusoe keep saying quick quick mommy hurry mommy, run run mommy ,and chop chop mommy. John when you said the boss has spoken I didn’t hear Crusoe lol. Take care.
Thinking of you all . As long as you are all together it will sort itself out. Love to see you ❤❤❤❤

I see others just put camera on stand
But of course there are those close up shorts .
Others with Big projects end up having cameraman.
At the end I believe it will work out for the best
Best wishes with new project

John & Tara, hats off to you guys, your doing an amazing job both on your home and as delightful parents.
you said it:
BE BRAVE, THINK BIG, you've got lots of time to achieve your dreams, and EXPLORE a way to not be to hard on yourselves. Small kids and work is tough going. Lots of hugs from Ireland 🤗
Cruso, love his haircut, Sawyer is growing so fast. Love your videos. What a brave 2 years old Cruso.
Thanks so much Kallawstee 😊🙏🏼❤️🇵🇹
you know what? Its okay to be kind to yourselves, wishing you well as you work out what you need. Also, Crusoe is speaking so clearly. Its a delight to hear. please take care, give yourselves a break, you've had a big year!
It's a lot of work 2 episodes in one week! And the children, and building! Just take care, one episode in a week is also fine!
⚒️🪵💪🏼🏡🇵🇹
Hi guys. Hope everything will go fine. Live is about changes, movement and challenges. Putting everything in God’s hand and don’t worry.
❤️❤️❤️
Sometimes you certainly feel overwhelmed with so many projects, 2 toddlers and so much to do. But you are dealing great with all, you are resilent and brave. It is part of the process of growing a family. You are amazing!🥰😘

I love watching Crusoe grow up!! His little British accent when he tells Mummy to hurry up and Daddy he has another rock. Can't wait for Sunday!!
