Oh just heard of the terrible news. Edna Wright though you have passed us, your voice and music will always stay with us forever. R.I.P. lovely lady. xxx
This was incredible. Wow !!! If you noticed, the acoustics in the studio were absorbing so all you heard was pure talent, voices and instruments, very little echoing going on...Good job !!!!
Fantastic performance! Shelly, you were so adorable!! SO YOUNG!! Oh my! I remember listening to this song all summer long at our family cottage in Muskoka, Canada in 1971. I was 16. I went to bed every night with my favorite companion,..my G.E. Transistor Radio!! On a clear night I could pull in CKLW radio in Detroit/Windsor. Such happy memories! Thanks for being such a big part of it! :)
No, the single sold two million, and they only had two gold singles (this and "Stick-Up"), the only metal they got as a group. The royalties must have been hard to come by, since H-D-H had trouble getting paid by their distributors (rumor has it Berry Gordy had to do with this), so the group broke up and went back to the lucrative business of back-up singing. Edna married their producer, Greg Perry, Shelly married Verdine White of Earth Wind and Fire, and Carolyn toured with Seals and Crofts, and has featured label credit on their hit single "Get Closer", and sang back-up on their live album.
I live this group. Such class. The. Music they got today is such bull shit. I can't even listen to the radio 24 hour bull shot. You african Americans we know y'all are gifted at what ever you do so please start making good music
100% agree! I remember listen to Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Etta James, Phoebe Snow, Linda Lewis, Denise Laselle, Joan Armatrading, Grace Jones! They had style and class!
50 years ago, please somebody shoot me , please...........i use to be so happy , but now mostly all the people in my life are gone, my wife my parents my brothers and all my high school friends, its hard to relate to anything or anybody
Shelly. She had to get out before Ike beat that ass. lol Amazing ladies just don't know why they didn't get very far. Edna oh my those unique vocals? I guess we will never know she just didn't get her break!
@@rondothard1698 , if you look for the video here on youtube of > THE INVICTUS RECORDS STORY < the record label they were on with groups like THE 8TH DAY , CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD , HONEY CONES , FREDA PAYNE and many more. you will see what happen , CBS records bought out a lot of small black record labels in the mid seventies and only supported some of the music acts they wanted and let the contracts of others expire , so many of them acts didn't get picked up by bigger record labels and some of them made records for much , much smaller labels that didn't help their careers , [ in a nut shell that is what happened ]. but look for the video on youtube

Most underrated singer of the 70’s.
These three ladies deserve all compliments.
and that was live baby!!!!!!! Edna Wright sings just like her sister Darlene Love.
Great performance! Ahh the days before twerking was necessary where great voices were enough.
This song is iconic. Thank you I enjoy this channel 🎶💖

Great girls----SO talented!!
I am a white dude, but this music makes me jump and dance. They put their heart and soul to the music in these years.
Completely live! No pre recorded or backing tracks! I wonder if this happens today!
That's because you had to know how 2 actually sing, and perform.
What A Voice!!
Great arrangement and performance. Class act.
Great clip.Honeycone great group and vocals.
This video was dope 70s Soul ✌🏿🎼
Carolyn runs away with this interview, earthy, quirky and lovely. All 3 ladies superstars.
Now this what music should be like
This vers. is nice! One of my all time fave songs. I was sad to hear about Ms. Edna
Great, arrangement and show that if the right musicians not playing you get a different depth of the song.
Talent something you can't fake...or distract from.

Ummm... THEY can sang. Listened to the record since a CHILD. BUT, was waiting to see the live. Love it.
Gorgeous
Trivia. Shelly Clark was considered to replace Jean Terrell in The Supremes by Mary Wilson. She turned it down. In came Scherrie Payne.
The only Supremes are Diana, Mary and Flo, and maybe a stretch you can throw in Cindy. Thats it.
Love this!
Love
Rest in Paradise Edna Wright
Great group. That Edna is a good singer and a rather refined little piece of machinery.
I love her voice too
Shelly has done a complete makeover, blond, skin lightening, etc. Didn't recognize her at all on a recent post.
Love when sings that part from 1:30 -1:35 the way she does it
Fantastic! No lip syncing. Oh how it use to be.
Rest in Peace Ms Edna Wright.
Never seen this.❤
Their LP sold 2 million copies, but I wonder how much of that money did THEY see (knowing the record business mostly likely zero).

I miss her
Pthis is when you had talent and people could sing and you didn't need auto-tune you better know how to sing and perform and entertain people.

R.I.P. Edna Wright.
Now, this is what you call real music...live!! I kept wondering why his focus was on Carol instead of the lead singer, Edna on his right. Lol. Hmmm ☺️
I should sure know a lot more about these great ones than just happening upon them while tooling around youtube during COVID!! smh
🙏

The Merv Griffin show,RIP,Merv grffin.
They changed the melody quite a bit in a few places.
Sounds a bit like Jackson 5 melody, female version.
Trolling Tom Jones in 1972🤣
I am not sure, but I think Mary Mary sampled this song on their song "Heaven."
Gone but not for gotten
50 years ago, please somebody shoot me , please...........i use to be so happy , but now mostly all the people in my life are gone, my wife my parents my brothers and all my high school friends, its hard to relate to anything or anybody

Someone put a leash on Merv! He’s crushing hard on the middle girl!
Our Sisters wasn’t feeling that back then….Fetish all he was after.
I thought this was Darlene love 😮
Edna Wright was actually Darlene's sister.

RIH Edna Wright
So the destinys child existed already in the 70's and this blonde girl is Beyoncé.
Great performance but wtf is that interview
SocialistHashEnthusiast yes it was a little cringe 😬 they were not used to tv show chit chatting
My condolences to Edna Wright's family, RIP Edna.
