Yep, this joint was the jam by October, 67. It was so popular that I connected with a beautiful girl named Monica Rivers. She was seated in a sort of corner of the basement at Barbara Atwell's bday party. I had just finished dancing to "It's Alright" and immediately afterward I spotted Monica Rivers and I was like "wow - who is that"? Monica Rivers I was told. I was a teenager when he appeared on Where The Action Is. It was filmed at my hometown of Rosamond CA. This was in 1966. I will be 70 this year but this seems like yesterday.
"Where the Action Is" was a TV show which aired daily right after school. I always watched it to see and hear the new songs and performers. Dick Clark produced it and he also had this giant bus tour of stars perform concerts at various places. I was 16 years old in 1966 and I had the opportunity to see one of these concerts which showed several different groups and individual artists at one low price. All of them were wonderful. Dick Clark was the original pioneer of advancing rock & roll to the new generation of baby boomers. These were wonderful times for me. Although I didn't get to see JJ Jackson, I do remember watching this episode and I've always loved him performing this song. I still have the record! Me and my friend Howard Hunter use to sing this song so much. that when we would see each other. the first thing we said. instead of hello. Was, BUT ITS ALL RIGHT!!!😀
This is sad. This NOT the real JJ Jackson dancing in this video. (The music IS the real JJ's music) This man impersonated JJ Jackson for most of the real JJ Jackson's career. I know because the real JJ Jackson is my grandfather. In those days it was easy to impersonate someone because black artists photos often were not widely distributed. My grandfather knows about this man but footage like this as well as album covers this man made still exist and even on Wikipedia this man's photo is shown - as well as this man's bio. The real JJ is still alive and performing small gigs. Is originally from Columbia Missouri. This song was written about my grandmother, his ex-wife - my mother's mother. On a side note, though now in their 70's he still tries to call her and woo her back LOL.
WHOA!! This guy got on TV pretending to be him?? Where was JJ and what did he do when he found out about it?? I've seen a clip of this in promotions of oldie songs and was truly excited when I typed it in and saw it posted! Now this?? Please respond! It's one of the few songs that makes me happy from that era! Hold up!! He looks like the man on the cover though!!
A.G Alexander, the guy singing and dancing IS THE REAL JJ! Natasha Brown has been duped by the impostor who wears a hat, and calls himself JJ Jackson. I worked with JJ while he served in the military in UK, and I was one of the musicians on " Greatest little Soulband" The guy in the video, JJ, wrote that song!!! JJ was always a big chubby, happy, nice guy!
Ha! That is too funny. Choose to believe what you like. Unfortunately it sounds like this guy was actually the one who got duped by an imposter. I'm not here to argue w/ anyone but to set the record straight about my grandfather's legacy - which is NOT the man dancing in the video. My grandfather was in fact in the military and did serve overseas and was the man who authored and performed this piece of music along with countless other less-known pieces, but he is NOT the man lip syncing in the video. I can't speak anything about the guy in the video as I don't know him. But what I do know is that I have heard my grandfather sing these songs to me with THAT voice live and in person with NO equipment since I was a child and have spoken to countless relatives and classmates from his hometown who will tell you in a heartbeat who he is and how he left his hometown for California to become the singer he was and still is. It's ok if he wants to believe the guy he knew was not the imposter. He's free to believe what he likes as are the rest of you reading. That doesn't change what I know to be fact. Again not here to argue but to set the record straight for those who are interested in the real man behind the music. And that is William June Jackson - aka JJ Jackson. Love.
Natasha, I'm afraid you've been misled. I knew the producer of this classic, the late Lew Futterman. Also interviewed Sidney Barnes, who was a colleague of J.J. Jackson. Both men had verified to me that the performer in the video here is the real deal. I know you'd like to set the record straight but many of the folks "who were there" are still here to verify otherwise. I wish you continued luck. Best, Kevin Goins

When I needed you to come around
You always try to bring me down
Oh, but I know, girl, believe me when I say that

But it's all right all right girl
Hey, say it's all right all right girl

He'll treat you bad and make you sad
And you will lose the love you had
Oh, but I hate to say I told you so, but
Baby, you gotta gotta reap what you sow
But it's all right all right girl
You are payin' now, but it's all right
So goodbye, now, goodbye, girl
You're payin' now, say bye-bye

Me and my friend Howard Hunter use to sing this song so much. that when we would see each other. the first thing we said. instead of hello. Was, BUT ITS ALL RIGHT!!!😀
Man oh man, the guitar and drums! One of the tightest grooves I've ever heard. And my Bro wrote the song. Potential money for a much longer time. 😉
Love this tune
So good. Wow.
Best,
Kevin Goins
I know the real JJ Jackson. He is now living in Threr Rivers California. He plays at a restaurant called The Gateway.
I saw this show.
