The blonde in the front left and in green is my sister Beverly Jones, whose life was taken from her at a very early age of 18 on Christmas night after performing at a nite club while singing in a band called "Elizebeth" She has surely been missed throughout the years by all the Upbeat Dancers and family and friends. We Miss You!

Yes, it's kind of kick-ass, but not in an agressive way. To my mind this song fits much better with the wild, free-flowing stax sound than with smooth, overproduced motown.

No wonder Edwin has that huge smile with these beautiful on stage with him. I'm from Cleveland and recognized this as the Upbeat show immediately. Didn't Dick Blake show us dance steps every week. Remember our clapping? Sway left and right in audience clapping and twisting left hand clap then right hand? I wanted to be one of those dancers. Anyone remember The Rationals on Upbeat? My dad took us to Chipewa Lake to see them. One of there recordings was "Respect". I miss it all so much.

  • @DJWOLFLIVE
    @DJWOLFLIVE Год назад +5

Upbeat for those that don’t know was a local music show out of my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio during the 1960’s and was very popular not only in Cleveland but from my understanding it was show regional between other parts of the state into Pennsylvania and West Virginia. My dad once told me he used to go on the show to dance but I will go to RUclips and locate videos just to confirm this one day.

My family, Rose, and my girlfriend Debbie were at home watching TV and saw a show that featured this song. My
sister Eva's eyes lit right up which got my attention than the rest of us were getting fired up as well. Eva said to me
" Let's go to work'!!! after we heard this song. We went and bought this song and started to create dance moves
to it. Eva already knew the dance moves from this song. She and Rose spiced the dance moves up. Debbie and
I went to work on the Aerial moves then we mixed all the moves together. We Showed my mother what we did
and she loved it. My sisters Nancy and Caroline also learned how to dance to this song using the moves we
created. We were told about a Christmas ceremony in Monument Square which meant that my mother, Eva,
Debbie and I had to work. On The night of the ceremony, all of us went and enjoyed the ceremony. The Portland
Maine news media was there so it meant we kept a low profile. Everyone, there was having a fantastic time and
enjoying the ceremony. We then were listening to AWESOME music then heard this song start playing. My sister
Eva went crazy!! then ran out and started dancing using the moves we created!! Soon all eyes were upon us!! Then
the rest of us were FIRED UP!!! and joined my sister Eva. The News media turned their cameras on us!! By that time
Debbie and I were LOSING our MINDS!!! Rose was wound up tight!!! My mother screamed, " Let it all hang OUT"!! Then
we ROCKED the ceremony!!!! Our dancing was so ELECTRIFYING that we had all the floodlights there were on us then
we had lights and sirens going off from all the emergency vehicles there!!! after we got done the cheering and screaming
from the people was deafening!! The Mayor and News media were Interviewing us and elated at the show we put on!! My
supervisor from the Medical Crisis Unit invited Rose and Caroilne to spend time with us and ride with us!! My sister Nancy
went to work with my mother at the Maine Medical Center!! On the way to our duty Station, I bought food to have a party
and have fun!! we got to the station and my friend Chin Li Hugged Debbie and me because he saw us on TV!! Later we
ate then we were watching TV and another show featured this song. Rose, Caroline, Debbie, and I got up and showed
everyone there the dance moves we created!! after we were done, my Supervisor and everyone there were Hugging and
    kissing us!!
