Damar Hamlin was the scariest thing I've ever seen on a football field. The fact that he fully recovered and is still playing is the ONLY thing that prevented it from being tragic. One of my happiest sports memories was hearing that he was awake, alert, and expected to fully recover.

That was very, very scary. My wife, who doesn't even watch football, was asking about his status the day after like he was a family friend and wanted to know if he's doing ok.
My mother had this exact same thing happen. Not on a football field of course, but her heart just stopped suddenly and luckily my dad jumped up and did CPR for 20+ minutes while he waited for EMS to arrive. They got her heart restarted and she's made a full recovery.
Definitely the scariest, and yet most incredible thing I've ever witnessed on a football field. I can't even imagine what would've happened if medical staff hadn't been able to get his heart going again.

It was scary but when I was playing Jr. A hockey in the 98-99 season we were playing Yukon claim Jumpers in Whitehorse, which is kinda remote. It was a playoff game and we were winning to move on to the finals. The games against Whitehorse were always brutal and a lot happened to lead up to this but our defenseman Dahlstrom got hit so hard his helmet flew off his head hit the dasher then the ice and he swallowed his tongue, they did CPR and had to use a defibrillator. It was crazy there was about 3 minutes left in the game we were up 2 or 3 goals and after almost 2 hours they decided to call the game cause emotions were way to high to play the last 3 minutes. Weirdest end to a game I’ve ever been in. Dahlstrom made a full recovery, I think he was air lifted to Anchorage, Alaska but he never played competitive hockey again.

I don’t fault the Cleveland fans on that one. Even if we accepted the referee saying that he’d been buzzed for the replay before the. Browns snapped the ball the ref didn’t blow things dead even when it wss being snapped so the rules should have been followed that you can’t review a play once the next one has began. If a cos b was trying to challenge a play but didn’t throw his flag on time he’d be shit outta luck just like the refs should have been. Instead they made a weak excuse to review a play when the risks say they shouldn’t be and worse yet they decide to take away the game from the Browns while they’re at it. And there’s no evidence of the refs bothering to explain in the PAST what had even happened. One of those fines if say this shit was deserved

When he was drafted by the Raiders, he tried to talk John Madden into letting him play on defense as well as punter. I think given the circumstances he should've went in at QB vs. the Bears. "did this guy just die on live TV"
I was so happy to hear that he lived and has made a full recovery
And I was also happy to see whether during the live game or afterwards, the amount of support the guy had - its hard to find a marker and poster board during a live game but bengals fans were hit by that and made signs and shit that was pretty powerful

I'd like to add, to me one of the most devastating moments to me that also ended with a bright spot was when Dennis Byrd of the New York Jets shattered his spine during a tackle in a game. Although through several months of rehab and pt, he was able to walk again.

Just in preseason he took a shot that punctured his specific organ. Four games into the season he finally played and was hit by dick Butkus, dude also had an issue which was hardening of his organs. Back then that wasn’t a thing.

Tim Couch at a better team would have had an amazing long career. He was so good. When he was selected for Cleveland most it us knew they couldn’t protect him from NFL Defenses. They had the worst line and were often behind in points which meant they needed to often abandon the running game and pass the ball every play to come back from being behind on the score board. If he would have gone to the 49ers, the Buccaneers would have been great. Maybe Titans even. Anyone with a good defense and running game. Obviously offensive line. Couch is still on of my favorite Quarterbacks of all time.

Not the dirtiest game. That is reserved for the Greenbay packers. Nov 23rd 1986. Knowing they could not beat the Bears that year or for many more to come due to far superior personnel, head coach Forrest Gregg committed the most unsportsmanlike, and in fact criminal, coaching in Sports history. He purposely encouraged his players to injure the opposing team. This was not a game. It was a man hunt. The packers organization put a cash bounty for injuring players knocking them out of the game. Watching the film you can see numbers of opposing players written on the towels of the Packers players. Each defender had been given a number with the instruction to injure them whatever it took. The most famous act was Charles Martin picking up an unsuspecting Jim McMahon from behind, some 10 seconds after he had thrown an interception, and perhaps 30 yards from the action, slamming his shoulder into the ground. It ended his year, deprived the bears of a second superbowl and effected McMahon the rest of his career. Other incidents included Payton being thrown into a table 15 yards off the packers sideline, and Matt Suhey being surrounded on the ground and kicked by multiple packers. There were several others. It is a stench in NFL history. The Packers have never apologized. Not much has changed. Though they dont have public bounties anymore, the packers still pull punk plays and hit after the whistle to induce a reaction from the other player to get a penalty. Ask the fans in Detroit and Minnesota. They will say the same. The Greenbay Packers are scum. and beyond that just a terribly inept organization. they got lucky having one of the best QB's in the league for 30 years. 30 YEARS. and they could only win 2 superbowls. no dynasties. Just a 2 wins. Any team in the NFL could have done that with those two QB's. Watch a greenbay game closely. you will see it. it is who they are.
