It’s not that simple. They have been playing their entire life and most only spend a few years in the league. It’s not as if they are set for life. Most of them anyway.
It is that simple. If you get paid that much for one year it is plenty enough to set you up for years. That's enough time to gain new skills and start a new career easy. In the league 3 or more years? You shouldn't have to worry about money ever again@@gtdcov

“Team Friendly” deals really just mean owner friendly deals at the end of the day. The salary cap and franchise tag have absolutely nothing to do with making the league “more fair” or “competitive”. It is purely a way the owner’s have colluded with each other to artificially minimize the cost of labor. Look at the massage contracts in baseball. The NFL is much more popular than the mlb. Most players that make it to the league' dont make it to 3. That's a far cry different and stressful than the "real" world. Would it be labeled as jealousy for people who has a problem with players salaries? If so, it makes you having a problem stupid. The NFL free agency sucks. They hype up the signings. The contracts aren’t fully guaranteed. The players can get cut at anytime. NBA and MOB free agency, well that’s a different story
Replace the franchise tag with a rule that every player drafted by their original team that stays has only 80-85% of their salary count against the cap. Keeps the leverage that owners want and if someone really wants to leave a situation, they can it would be at a large pay decrease
Since most teams spend to the Max of salary cap whenever one player gets paid less (RB, Franchise Tags…) other players gets paid more then not the owners keeping the $$$$$$$$$.
I get why people hate on basketball players and baseball players over money squabbles but the nfl players don’t deserve it. Only a fraction of the players even get to be wealthy while the rest are pitted against each other in the squid/hunger games, they have the highest risk of injury, worst post career benefits and despite being independent contractors don’t even have a choice on where they work without their employers permission to leave.
That’s why the NFL is better than the MLB and NBA look at the dodgers now and the warriors dynasty not even fun to watch players dictate the outcome just by making super teams
@@austinweekley9213it's almost a scenario where one really can have their cake and eat it too. Make tons of money and choose where they wanna be and sometimes win championships on top of that
I've always preferred a performance based pay scale. Players get a base salary and can add to it based on their performance. This would save teams from overpaying for free agents. It would also reward overachievers who outplay their contracts. Injury clauses could be added to compensate those whose performance was no fault of their own. Was Patrick Mahomes worth 50 mil last year? Absolutely. Russell Wilson? Not so much. Of course the NFLPA would never agree to it, as there would be little or no job security but it would force teams to pay players what they're worth.
You should have had a couple of pictures of Favre in a Jets uniform, he did play around 8 or so regular season games with them before he got injured. Also, the players need to prioritize restricting the franchise tag to only 1 per player, occasionally a team will tag a player twice in a row to avoid giving a star player a huge, long term contract. The players may also need to look at restricting the owners to only having one option between the team option year or the franchise tag so top performing players can't hit a big payday for free agency, especially running backs.
“Leveon bell is being incredibly betrayed by the Pittsburgh Steelers” is bold when the Steelers offered him a contract to be a top 2 highest payed running back of all time and he turned it down to take less and play for a worse team lol
Lmao the amount of money these boys make is laughable to even say there is some dark side to anything they know wtf there doing… and they signed up for this
RB is the most easily replaceable poisition in football that’s why they don’t get paid as much. Rarely does a star RB missing time affect a team as much as other positions
I remember many of us in Pittsburgh called leveon bell greedy and whatnot. But after listening to this video it makes alot more sense. He isn't vindicated completely from everything that went on but im saying it makes more sense now. Coupled with the fact that running backs have a short shelf life as well I get it. Make your money while you can. It can all be over in a flash. Makes me think about Tom Brady. What if he didn't have that trophy wife he has. Would he have done things differently and not taken team friendly deals? His career could have been ended at any point from being hit. He missed that one season think it was 2011. That could have been his last if things went differently
If these players get franchise tagged, then they get the average of the 5 highest players in his position. If a RB or any player cant live on 12 million for the rest of their lives then boo fucking hoo.
George steinbrenner was right. He said that every player should be a free agent at the end of every season only signing a one year contract with whatever team they chose and no advantage to the team they were with the season before.
Free agency equals unemployed it's your right decision to go where you want and make what you want franchise tag is called a forced contract One step above slavery
It does say a lot more about who you are as a player and person if you’re willing tot take less money in order for the greater good of the team like what Brady did or what Crosby still does. They understand if they take all the money they won’t have anyone there to help them win
We've seen this ever since the free agency market was established by the NFLPA. Big name players get big time contracts. The disgruntled players are a dime a dozen. Scottie Pippen has a famous amount of bitterness about his time with the Bulls and the contract that HE signed compared to what Jordan made. The RB market has been devalued thanks to the onslaught of these over hyped "dual threat QB's", who have nominal arm talent and prove it by hauling ass if they can't find someone WIDE open in the first 2 seconds of a play. At the end of the day, it's a CHOICE, sure, you can hedge your bet, make business decisions on the field etc but it is a JOB and even at low levels, it pays a LOT more, in and OUT, than any average US Military service member.
The NFL has to have rules otherwise the players would run amok. Yes they put their health on the line but let’s not pretend they don’t get paid very well and they play by choice. The real losers here are the fans
Knowing all that is known about rookie deals, NFL career length... The onus is on players. More IRA's, financial planning and fiscal responsibility and less gold jewelry, bad business deals and baby mamas.
These players bitching is a joke. They willingly work ALL their lives to get into the NFL.Then when they find out they won't be coddled n spoiled like they were in high school and college, the true colors shine.Actually have to work and produce. What a strange concept!
Am I the only one finding the narration too hushed and monotone? The editing is dramatic as hell, but the tone of narration doesn't match and the pacing feels off. Otherwise, this is well put together. Just a little tough to digest over 20+ min.
I took the college ACT with a guy who was Big Ten freshman defensive player of the year He ended up signing with the Browns and made it through training camp and getting cut. He made a whopping 80 grand in his NFL career Luckily he was smart and invested in a steak place that he ended up selling after a few years for a profit. I don't know what he is doing now
So what were the details of Redskins & Cowboys salary cap violations? It was just restating that there were violations & the teams were charged against their caps without saying anything more than a word salad.
Well one thing for sure is that Tom Brady's dad is part of Black Rock. He's a billionaire. Black Rock has holdings of $23 TRILLION DOLLARS! Tom's dad has had his hands in the pocket of all NFL teams since before Tom was born. No wonder the San Mateo local news was able to "predict" that he'd win more rings than Joe Montana.
Look I like the video but there are some big editing errors. There is a huge cutting error in the middle of the video that leads to a lot of confusion and disturbs the flow of the video and please for the love of god if you try to highlight something do not use dark red next time because you cannot read anything after you highlighted it

Top talent is always well paid, but more needs to be allocated to those who only last five or less years, not to mention more for the retired guys.
I’m always on the side of the athletes when it comes to money. The owners and their greed are the problem.
Kinda like OSHA rules, they only apply when it’s convenient for the employer.
22:30 The packers don’t play at soldier field…
Epilogue: Lev Bell is now on OnlyFans and begging to make a comeback with the Steelers.
Won't someone think of these poor professional athletes?!
You would not have players or a league without the owners and people who run it.
This video’s thumbnail foretold the Saquon/Eagles signing 😮😮
Players don't even wear pads anymore and constantly headhunt and punch guys. Miss me with the player safety stuff.
I took the college ACT with a guy who was Big Ten freshman defensive player of the year
He ended up signing with the Browns and made it through training camp and getting cut. He made a whopping 80 grand in his NFL career
Luckily he was smart and invested in a steak place that he ended up selling after a few years for a profit. I don't know what he is doing now
What’s his name?
Considering minimum salary is over $700k I’m calling BS.
Do a video on nfl training camp
Great Recommendation! I'll definitely keep this in mind.
So what were the details of Redskins & Cowboys salary cap violations? It was just restating that there were violations & the teams were charged against their caps without saying anything more than a word salad.
beautifully written
Well one thing for sure is that Tom Brady's dad is part of Black Rock. He's a billionaire. Black Rock has holdings of $23 TRILLION DOLLARS! Tom's dad has had his hands in the pocket of all NFL teams since before Tom was born. No wonder the San Mateo local news was able to "predict" that he'd win more rings than Joe Montana.
Look I like the video but there are some big editing errors. There is a huge cutting error in the middle of the video that leads to a lot of confusion and disturbs the flow of the video and please for the love of god if you try to highlight something do not use dark red next time because you cannot read anything after you highlighted it
The nfl is a business, you know what you are getting into when you get drafted, no one is forcing you to play! You can always go and sell insurance!🤦♂️
Hard to feel bad for them, on the other hand I'm sure there is a lot of stuff behind the scenes that makes the players feel like they deserve Even more.
But Daniel Jones can get a crazy deal 😂
This world will chew you up and spit you out. When Satan uses you up he's done with you. Trust Jesus Christ
Imagine getting fined 10 million dollars and it feeling eh whatever
Gotta remember league minimum is still $900,000 I don’t feel bad for any of these players lol
Pats fan here of course I hate the giants but no one deserves to be screwed by that 72m Golliday contract.. what a careless pos. I hope karma gets him
I feel like this year RBs are doing well in FA
"Profit over player welfare," huh? This is the nature of capitalism. The poor get poorer, the the rich get filthy. The working people are the ones left holding the receipts...
Brady was also married to someone worth half a billion when he didn’t take those contracts
Brady got his money.
I think if nfl teams get caught tampering they should be fined money directly from there salary cap for the year min 1 mil
That thumbnail was prophetic. Saquon signed with the Eagles. I literally threw up. Feels like my wife left me for my long time rival.🤢🤮
He made that thumbnail after he signed
@@cooper8284 Really? Oh shit.🤔🤦🏾♂️🤣
@@skizztrizz4453 nah he made that shit a month in advance Ngl
@@cooper8284 Oh aight.🤔✊🏾🗽🗽🗽🏈
@@skizztrizz4453 🫱🏼🫲🏾🗣️
6:42 So like literally every job in America? Oh no.
Why was punishment only handed down to the Dolphins for tampering? Brady knew it was against the rules! Where was his punishment?
Zekes contract wasn't the worst in nfl history. At least he was worth it until the last year. There's much better examples lol
