I think Luffys awakening will go more into a mythical direction, expanding on his gear 4th and maybe going into a gear 5th. As Hyogoro once said, Luffy in his gear 4th looks like a guardian deity. I would take that as a hint. As such, his awakening of the devil fruit might give him powers only loosely, or maybe not at all associated with rubber. I mean think about it: assume you saw Luffy for the first time, and see him transform into gear 4th out of nothing. There is no way you would think: "Oh well, its clearly a rubber based power." Your response would go much more in the direction of Hyogoro. I myself remember Luffy first transformation into gear 4th. I was weirdly reminded of Sengokus transformation into the golden Buddha. In light of the most recent chapter, Luffys fruit might be the one the Elder Stars were referring to, in terms of a fruit being renamed, and not having been awakened for a long time. It makes some sense, since it being the rubber fruit seems to fit very well. In addition, the likelihood of awakening the fruit might be lowered significantly, if you do not know its true nature. Perhaps there is some sort of indicator, a special, observable thing that happens, when this fruit awakens, and the news only reached the elder stars towards the end of chapter 1037. In case it is Luffys fruit they are on about, it would seem much more likely to me, that there is a mythical component. Lastly, from a story telling perspective, it would give Oda a lot of creative freedom. This could allign Luffy more closely with certain prophecies, or allow for impactful symbolism, as well as give him some interesting ways to better deal with future match ups, aside from just more power. Not sure if there is an interesting deity in far eastern lore, that would fit Luffy well though, I am simply not familiar with it.
you made some accurate predictions man, now that the Zunesha recognized the "drums of liberation"(return of Joyboy) just when the panel of Luffy smiling appears it makes more sense that the fruit has something mythical
I still think Luffy will awaken against Blackbeard. It makes sense the rubber environment can absorb shockwaves. As for now, Luffy will refine his haki with his gear forms to defeat Kaido. Kaido has faced against 15 strong ppl and has been holding onigashima the whole time, Luffy dosent need a powerup to defeat a weakened Kaido. EDIT: For those of you saying he isn’t weakened is absurd and you are overestimating him. Oda purposely showed us a few chapters ago that BASE Luffy can split the skies against HYBRID Kaido. The gap between them is closing up and Kaido is evidently getting weakened.
The stretching of time and space theory makes the most sense against Blackbeard, because how else can you counter black holes and shockwaves? I believe Luffy is the only one who can counter Blackbeard through this method. The rubber fruit is essentially a hard counter for the "strongest devil fruit".
It would make sense if Luffy awakened his fruit during the current fight with Kaido since *He's already got a lot of experience with it *He's fighting one of the strongest characters in the series *He's already seen a few Devil Fruit users with an awakened fruit
The bouncy castle might actually be my favorite theory, but because of how much depth it could give his fights. I imagine a fight where Luffy hits an opponent into the ground, but the opponent simply bounces back up, meaning that Luffy could literally just ricochet his enemies off the ground for a “bouncing gatling” type of attack. If an enemy tries to anticipate the ground being rubber, Luffy could simply not change that part of the environment, putting his enemies at a huge disadvantage in terms of mind games. Becoming rubber doesn’t really change the aesthetic of anything, so there really is no way for an opponent to anticipate whether or not they are about to land on rubber or just the regular ground. Maybe I just like this theory because I think it’d be incredible to see Luffy bounce his enemies from surface to surface, almost like a Monkey going berserk…but maybe that’s just me…
Yes, and it would perfectly fit Ruffy's more animal like fighting style. But he needs to be able to manipulate the rubber surroundings in a way to use it in his advantage while the enemy has a big disadvantage. Most enemies would be confused, when solid ground suddenly turns into rubber. But stronger ones may be able to also use it to their own good when getting used to it. This kind of awakening is also more likely to happen than the "changing his bodyparts into other objects", although it would be a cool feature. But it's simply not Ruffy's style. He just doesn't fight with weapons (in major battles). He relies on his fists and feet (somtimes also his head or belly).
The bouncy castle imo is actually the likeliest to happen, Oda said he made Luffy a rubber man because he wants him to be as light hearted as possible no matter how dark the story gets. Giving him the ability to turn things into rubber is true to that concept I think, and since it's Oda he'll definitely make it look cool
The "stretch time and space", while super edgy as a powerup for a shonen MC, isn't very unlikely either. I say this because of A) who's who guarding it, it's clearly special and B) it plays info the future sight luffy recently got.
@@OmAr-sr1sn oh cmon, stretching time and space? Thats not consistent with luffy's character like, at all. The gonu gomu no mi isnt supposed to be an inherently OP ability, but made OP through creativeness.
Ah dont forget, earthquakes would have no use against a bounce castle. Luffy could even do earthquakes himself if he turns something large enough into rubber which vibrates. And i think because of the blackbeard luffy thing this is possible
I think there is more to the "bouncy house" than meets the eye. I love the idea of the Sunny being surrounded by marine boats with hundreds of cannons shooting at us then Luffy just uses "bouncy house" and all the cannon balls just ricochet. He could also use it to shake the ground. Imagine him punching the ground and it sending waves in all directions like dropping a rock in a pond. It would be like a Tsunami but with land. He may also be able to bend things into shapes similar to the flag flag fruit and then once the awakening turns off it stays in that shape. There is a lot more potential to it other than the presumed Bellamy fighting style of just bouncing off of things.
Dude, Bounceman and bouncy house in tandem, with Luffy's natural bouncing being the cause of the ripples in the environment would be sick. Like the enemy is being hunted in Luffy's domain
I think Luffy will get an external awakening similar to Law and Kid. The gomu gomu no mi is described to give the user the properties of rubber. Not the ability to produce, control or become rubber like Kat or Doffy. He will be able to apply the properties of rubber to things such as a sword or more Luffy like a pipe/staff
Fun fact: Luffy is the most creative person with his devil fruit ex: Gear 2, Gear 3, Gear 4. Also am I the only one curious to see Gear 4th Tankman unstuffed version
@@repetitive5768 it's not, otherwise his Tankman wouldn't be called "Tankman stuff version" implying that there is a non-stuff version. You really think he had the time and ressources to get that stuff during his 2 years train in order to create Tankman? No. He couldn't just eat for +11 hours non-stop just to supposedly create a new technique. There's a non-stuff version of Tankman just like there may be other versions of Gear 4th.
I like the "bouncy castle" idea. Because it would give reason for Luffy to create new gear that aims to harden his body, which without external rubber launchpads would limit his mobility and speed.
I also like that bouncy castle idea but is it likely to happen cause there are mainly 3 types for paramecia fruits 1. That alters the characteristics of the user ex -luffy 2. Alters the outer environment ex- senior pink or picka 3.that produces things ex- Doflamingo or katakuri... The Awakened paramecia that we have seen so far are doflamingo's string string fruit, katakuri's mochi mochi fruit, laws op op fruit and kids magnet magnet from which 2 are producers dofi and katakuri their fruits create strings and mochi and so awakening them made them create mochi Or strings around them not just from them but in cases of law and kid that affect the user and environment we saw different things kid could make someone magnetic and law could make someone's interior into a kroom so as luffys is similar to the ones shown by law and kid he will most likely be able to control his rubbers properties like density flexibility, thickness etc but at the end of the day I am not oda and It's just a theory
Not to mention how useful a power it would be cuz he can control his opponent's footing giving him a huge advantage in gear 4 cuz he can fly. 0/10 was a super lowball, I think oda could make that a cool ability
I’d want Luffy to have “Rubber World” not “Bouncy House” lol. I’d like for him to be less “Let’s jump up and down on the ground” and more Gentle from MHA. He was able to make the atmosphere around him “rubber”. He touched a steel beam and the beam became flexible yet maintained its physical characteristics. I think that would be so perfect for Luffy.
he cannot interact with the environment, as you can see, his type of fruit is Paramecia, and differs from others, since he himself consists of this rubber.
My theory is that Luffy's awakening comes from the other properties of rubber besides just the ability to stretch. Rubber is an effective shock absorber, what if Luffy's awakening allows him to all but negate incoming damage? Another thought I've had is that Luffy's awakening resembles Kuma's DF power, taking advantage of rubber's bounciness to repel damage.
@@riccoatkinson378 I didn't explain it well but I think Luffy will not only be able to deflect the impact, but also redirect the damage back to the attacker. Kuma can repel abstract concepts with his DF and I think Luffy's could be a passive version of that.
I think Rubber World is more likely than the other ones cuz all the awakenings seem to be what Doflamingo described: the Devil fruit power effecting the world around them •Doflamingo and Katakuri changed the environment •Law applied a mini room to his sword •Kidd applying his magnetism to Big Mom instead of himself As silly as it sounds Rubber World might be closer to being real than we think and I bet if it does happen it’ll be cool maybe we are just underestimating it at least I was
Agreed too many people are thinking awakening is some sort of form when it really is a expansion of your base fruit powers except instead of producing or manipulating through yourself you can now do it on the environment.
I think it's less rubber world, and more like rubber transfer more similar to Kidd. If he holds a pipe it will be able to expand and return to the natural state like the monkey king Sun Wukong and his staff. More likely to be known, look at son Goku and his power pole
The FACT that even shanks that descided to rob the devil fruit from the CP9 and being surprised with luffy's stretching ability after he ate the fruit, only means that he was expecting another power witch might be the actual fruits ability.Because we know shanks's personality,he won't won't do anything for vein meaning that healready knew the actual fruit ability
@@chrissinsxxx I mean, we don't quite know yet exactly how much Shanks knows about the fruit from back then... But it will be very interesting to find out if he did know it's true nature and that's why he stole it, or he just liked stealing random fruits from people lol. My guess is that he did know there was SOMETHING special about the fruit that the Gorosei didn't want anyone to have, but he didn't know that exactly. Either way, One Piece is better than ever and I can't wait to see!
@@godiegolem I agree . On second thought it seems unlikely that Shanks knew, all this time ,that Luffy is actually Sun God Nika . But that it was special ,is something I=m sure off Shanks knew
I think Oda is already hinting the type of awakening Luffy is going to get. The comment Hyogoro made about Luffy's gear 4th looking like the God of fire, where Luffy's power might go down the volcanization phase. Similar to how Big Mom has several elemental type power (fire & lightning), Luffy might awaken a power more in relation to fire and Gear 5 as the perfect form (volcanized form). [One other thing, I have wondered why fluffy was so DAMN short compared to everyone else and how he looks like a midget in front of the emperors. the gears are starting to look like him trying to find that perfect form. Gear 4th kong man is powerful but too slow. Gear 4th snake man is very fast but too weak. Gear 5th may be the best of both world; where he has the power and speed]
There's also the fact that both of his brothers use flame powers. So it would make sense if he dedicates a new gear to flame powers. But I think that's just a new gear instead of an awakening. I think it would be cool if his awakening will involve energy absorption, imagine he could absorb all the energy from his surroundings. That way he would also have freezing powers as well as flame powers, and he could disable attacks before they reach him. He also wouldn't need to eat as much because he can just gain energy from around him😂
Thanks! and I forgot to mention this, but it might be a stretch... Oda loves DBZ, and luffy and goku are like monkeys, and it might be that luffy's awakening or gear 5th could be the monkey god. Goku literally has the staff of the monkey god that extends very far, and luffy's power incorporates the power of this staff. so that is also another alternative
My friend and I discussed this, and we both like the idea of Luffy being able to manipulate his body like Play Doh. A punch comes at him too fast for him to dodge, and his body expands and contracts to make the punch miss. Maybe similar to Kami-e, so he can sort of do it unconsciously. Plus, free manipulation of his body would allow him to turn his arm into a big hammer or something neat like that. I also had a pretty silly idea, which is Luffy turning his body into Rubber Cement. Someone punches him, and instead of bouncing back, they get stuck in the Rubber Cement and get pummeled by Luffy. I think the vulcanization idea is pretty cool, too
Free control of his body. Vulcanizing and even being able to turn into gum like substance, or rubber liquid, which would be op as fuck. That with his future sight would be like katakuris fruit minus producing rubber
@@theshinydeoxys8314 but I'm talking about liquidation and vulcanization. If he can do that he would be crazy op and to the likes of someone like a low tier commander, prolly wouldn't even touch him.
Luffy’s awakening may have been already hinted in his name “Monkey.” Basically, he’ll be like Sun Wukong. Other than his name being a hint, the legend of Momotaro actually supports that. In the legend, Momotaro teamed up with a monkey, dog, and a pheasant to subdue the Oni (ogres) in the Onigashima Island (ogre-demon Island)
My favorite gear 5th theory is air elasticity, so when he punches you, the air around you stretches and snaps back into place, rocketing you back into his fist. This would mean instead of Luffy spawning clone hands to all around Gatling, the elastic force of the air around the Gatling attack snapping back into place would create the all around Gatling barrage. This could also create a cool scene where Blackbeard cowards out and attempts a retreat, but the elastic air holds him in place, forcing him to use an extremely drastic use of his powers
I really love this idea! It raises the question of if Blackbeard is even capable of running away from attacks? If I recall his devil fruit constantly gravitates things towards him, and so he has to consciously use the darkness to absorb it? I could easily be misremembering though :)
@@csmith827 if I'm remembering right he still takes damage, and even receives even more pain from the damage he gets because of his darkness body. So if Luffy were to punch him with a fist he risks getting absorbed. Punching him with conquerers haki and bouncing him around with elastic air however 🤔
My money would be on the "bouncy castle" idea. At the end of the day it would be the most expected I think which is the main issue, but as far as combat goes it could end up being ridiculously powerful. It's worth keeping in mind that Luffy has gone all these years dealing with being rubber and working on dealing with as well at utilizing the properties it comes with. Now throw someone who doesn't have some kind of ability to keep them airborne into this "bouncy castle" situation and all of a sudden it gives Luffy a massive advantage. Imagine if Luffy and Zoro faced off for example, I could imagine the fight being somewhat even though I'd still give the edge to Luffy. Now make it where Zoro can't even get good footing and is constantly in a state he's unfamiliar with while at the same time amplifying what Luffy can potentially do and we can quickly see where it becomes a massive increase. I wouldn't be against a more interesting way for his awakening to work however. It'd be interesting if like Kid could do, Luffy could make other things rubber. People that rely on weapons would be heavily at a disadvantage if their weapons were no longer lethal.
My biggest argument for bouncy castle is the buff it would give to Luffy’s speed. Imagine Luffy turning the ground beneath his feet into rubber and pin balling off the walls in an all-out Bellamy barrage. Something about him incorporating the ability of a friend (and one Oda made a point to show Luffy noticing) feels right to me.
Yea but it’s too corny and obvious, I think his awakening increases his speed and strength and I believe he will be able to manipulate the rubber into any object w conquers coding
I always thought of it as him punching someone against the wall, the person bouncing back, to receive another punch, and again , and again. Gatling to another level?
@@doffydonquixte My pet theory is that we'll see a few different creative things for Luffy's awakening, just like all the gears have different modes and shapes and abilities. Being able to bounce around really fast like Bellamy is going to be there for sure, and so is bouncing enemies around the environment. So it's going to be the "external" sort of awakening we've seen from Katakuri and Doffy. But the wrinkle here is that Luffy has been able to do something unique throughout the entire series that these other devil fruit users can't: he can take huge amounts of outside stuff, and bring it inside of him. All of the giant named attacks are him inflating parts of his body to attack- he fills himself up with air. That's what most of the gears have been about, really, between Gear 3 and Gear 4, inflating himself in different ways and then combining that with Haki. So to me, the next obvious step is to inflate himself again- but to use his awakening to turn the air that he brings in into solid rubber, and to keep doing that until he's a huge, crazy tough, solid rubber giant.
Nobody, not even Rayleigh, knows what Luffy did at Ruskaina for the last 6 months of his training since Luffy was alone. He most likely has already awakened it. Dont sleep on Luffy
Maybe he didn’t awaken it, but he most likely played around with his fruit after practicing haki. Devil fruit awakenings we’re not really explained on how to awaken it, it’s sort of you have to find out a way to make it awaken (if that makes sense). And I’m most convinced luffy has another thing up his sleeve. He had a 2 year timeskip and managed to learn haki, gear 4 and it’s variants and control over his conquerors haki as well as having the concept of of ryuo.
Nah I hate that take because that implies that he let himself get his ass beat by Katakuri nonstop and never used his awakening once. But then again Law never used his awakening on Doffy who was his literal worst enemy so idk guess Im on the fence, I’d rather him learn it mid fight like CoC or Ryuo
@@a1piece true, it could be that he encountered something during the last 6 months and had no idea. Perhaps Doflamingo made made him aware of something he didn't know what it was at the time. Probably unlikely though? But I do feel like the 6 months Oda created for Luffy to be alone will be important.
@@ImAviex I assume that Law got his awakening after Dressrosa. It's implied that in the world of One piece one gets significant stronger just by fighting a strong oponent (just like an RPG), and even if that wasn't the case he still had some time to awaken his fruit.
I don’t think this as awakening, but I want Luffy to be able to almost condense gear 5 into his fingers to one-shot enemies. Making a single finger into a sole Python or Kong Gun would be a great way of showing mastery of gear 5. Similarly how we saw his mastery of gears 2 and 3 post time skip.
I think you're underestimating the bouncy castle ability. Remember Oda is creative and can make really stupid sounding powers into really cool abilities. Imagine if Luffy turns the area into rubber, and mimics WB quake fruit by causing massive bouncy ripples through the ground? It might even be possible to create waves and tsunamis in the ocean to destroy entire fleets using this ability. Or he could turn an enemy swordsmans sword into rubber so it doesn't slash him since cutting attacks are one of his weaknesses. There's also another idea I have that you didn't cover in your vid. Kid was able to magnetize BM, so it's possible for awakening to affect another person too. So perhaps Luffy's awakening will allow him to turn other people into rubber. Imagine turning his entire crew, or an entire army into rubber men, now super durable and able to stretch. Or maybe he turns an enemy fist into rubber as it punches him, lessening the blow or making it easier to deflect since it now bends. Anyway, great video! I love the idea of awakening because we aren't completely sure how it will work until it's shown, and thus the possibilities are endless and super fun to theorize!
luffy turn enemies bodies into rubber and without luffy's experience they can't fight properly. luffy spent YEARS learning how to fight with a rubber body, so imagine kaido trying to punch luffy but his hand just goes flying away leaving him open for a counter attack. or luffy turns air into rubber, cant run or hit luffy without being launched away :D i like bouncy castle. also luffy fruit is a counter to the quake fruit so rubber world might be needed to stop blackbeard
THANK YOU! I was saying for years that his awakening should be able to stretch/compress time and space, but they've called me a madman. By far the coolest application of his devil fruit properties that I could think of.
I believe Luffy is the only one who can counter Blackbeard through this method. The rubber fruit is essentially a hard counter for the "strongest devil fruit". How else can you counter black holes? When I thought of it this way, it was like a light bulb appeared above my head.
You Know, Since we are already introduced to a Paramecia Time Time friut, and a Possibility that Zoan Time Fruit (Chronos) is GreenBull Fruit. It is actually possible for Luffy to have this kind of Awakening. Once Oda introducing some new power to the story, these power might be important or be related some Character Power Up. We can see the case with Zeus the Clouds and Nami. After we know big mom have a talking cloud that she can control. Nami get that clouds for her power up.
That last one is honestly really interesting tho highly unlikely it would be such an overpowered move by luffy. Now that he knows how to use that advanced armament haki and is able to damage or affect something without directly touching it, so hold on to that for a second. Take whitebeards DF right, it’s also a paramecia like luffys, when he punched Akainu with all his force it seems to almost bend or warp the space around the affected area. It might just be a cool visual effect that the animators made to make the hit just feel powerful but it could hit at that possibility. Now I’m going to throw in a wild card, take Gojo from jjk, his ability it to manipulate the infinite space between things what if luffy’s awakening is something similar to this. If he is able to make the infinite space elastic and and stretch it and make his ryou flow through it to make it an extension of himself it would unlock a whole new world of possible battle applications. Also what better power to have when your ultimate enemy is the Yami-Yami no mi user, it could counteract blackbeards pulling ability. I probably am bad at explaining my theory but there’s definitely something there
i think this theory is a good one, when he fights katakuri, his speed almost surpasses katakuri's observation haki. luffy be like fck that observation haki imma throw as many punch that i want that you can't predict it anymore.
My thought for external awakening is that Luffy doesn't make other things actual rubber, but he can manipulate them as if they were, Imagine taking a house and stretching it until you launch it like a cannon, or having a sword (non-haki) hit him only to bend around him.
with the new info on lunarians we got from queen and the part where he tells sanji that he will have to find out for himself how lunarians were defeated despite being portrayed as godlike creatures, it makes me wonder if lunarians are the "devils" in the devilfruits. I'm thinking that on a physical level the lunarians were unbeatable to mankind but someone managed to defeat the lunarians by capturing their souls and tying it to a fruit. The this could mean that the time it takes for a devilfruit to respawn after the user dies is tied to how strong the devils soul within that fruit is and how long it takes for the respective demons soul to be reborn. It would also make sense that the soul of the race known for being able to catch on fire does not work in water. This could also further explain why the government wants luffys devilfruit; A fruit which turns its user into rubber from our point of view might seem insignificant but what the government might be after is not the power of the fruit itself, but the soul of the devil which resides within (maybe joyboy?), and perhaps the will that soul brings with it. Also, considering how "failed" the smile devil fruits seem to be, it could be possible that the original devil fruit creation process was mimicked for their creation but what truly gives the fruits their powers is the strength of the soul of the creatures used, in this case the soul of animals. since animal souls might not be very strong they could only fill themselves with wonky animalistic powers which only work 1 out of 10 times, whereas the one artificial devilfruit which seems to be quite potent is Momos fruit which was made using Kaidos DNA, kaido seemingly being a very strong race with a very strong soul. all this might be a bit wish washy but just some things i put together :P
Cool i like the idea of devil fruit having a dark story behind it and less about just a literal “devil” lurking inside a fruit. This could be something, nice one bro!
Hey I rarely comment on RUclips videos or anything but this has to be one of the best one piece theories I've ever read. Every single thing you said was awesome and who knows where Oda is going to take this but I would not be mad if your theory turned out to be true. That's some great work
Gear 5 is more elasticity meaning Luffy can become a giant, that's why Elbaf comes after Wano. Also 5 is a number associated with Luffy a lot, 5th emperor, 5 is "Go" in Japanese, and chapter 555 of OP is a giant with a strawhat.
I agree that Luffy will unlock a giant form because Oda himself has said he thinks bigger characters look cooler and we can see how he keeps drawing characters bigger and bigger. People always neglect Oda’s writing quirks when making predictions. I actually think Gear 5 will be a giant form he unlocks in Elbaf and his awakening will be a separate power up around when he fights Blackbeard.
I personally think Luffy's gear 5 to be a form which Luffy covers his whole body with the most advanced Haki and making him hardened rubber with pumped blood will put him in another league entirely, also a giant Luffy with full body Haki covering would be the coolest thing in the entire series. I'm not good with physics at all so correct me if i'm wrong.
Your theories are off the charts - 10/10 subbed. We already got introduced to gravity and time, as well as light speed as powers, so Oda taking it as far, as making use of actual theories of this world - e.g. stretching of time and space - once again not so much of a 'stretch' as you may say. Also Rubber, beside vulcanization, has a few other traits, all of them related to friction and having been further introduced post time-skip. Thor Gun (electro) and Roc Gun (fire), which may eventually become their own forms.
My take on his awakened gum gum is that he can absorb and return all forms of attacks including haki infused ones. It's sounds boring per se. But if you think about it, most enemies that Luffy will encounter soon WILL mostly utilize haki infused attacks. Returning or recoiling back the attack to the opponent will make Luffy on par with anyone he meets. Kaido's overwhelming kings haki will basically be returned back to him and doubling the force with luffys own. Luffy can then one shot Kaido.
This but I’d feel like luffy would be smart enough to some how be able to store it and used it as overall buff to strength and speed. There could be a good gag that luffy needs to use gear 4 tank man at first to store it and whoever he is fighting can make fun of him for using a form that is so fat and slow and then when he starts getting hit he slowly starts getting thinner, faster and stronger.
@@orbito04 or he can just go around in the heat of the battle, instantaneously returning back all of his opponents haki attacks blow after blow. No matter how powerful the opponents haki is, the awakened gum gum fruit nullifies that and returns it all back doubling the force. Maybe that's why the gum gum was so wanted by wg because of this property when awakened. It basically makes the user 'immune' to haki attacks and has the capability to recoil it back to its opponent. Since df user gets countered mostly by haki, imagine a df user that is no longer affected by haki and basically just redirects the haki back to the opponent. Just my 2 cents.
After reading a bunch of comments about Luffy's awakening turning things into rubber, I'm now imagining Luffy grabbing the air and pulling back, using the elasticity of the air to Gum-Gum Rocket to places he normally couldn't. Sorta like how Doflamingo could fly by attaching strings to clouds. He could maybe even launch others by using the air or ground around them like a slingshot.
I think the gum gum fruit is more than just strecty body . The fruit was literally protected by the government until shanks stole it . And isn’t even really a paramecia because it affects the user’s body rather than really give them powers ,I think stretchyness is just the base form and the fruit is actually a mythical span with many other powers like red hawk ,and the power to become a giant ( most wanted power in the one piece world )
Actually turning all the sorrounding into rubber, will let him bouncing, increasing speed and strength of his attacks for this it could be a nice power up. Not forgetting the fact that the rubber combined with haki could literally absorb and trap enemies like Rufy did against Cracker
Are you from a non-native English speaking country? If you are, is Luffy pronounced/spelled Rufy in your language? Genuinely curious, never seen someone actually call him Rufy
@@BensonOfD I call him Rufy couse i read the manga and i respect the original pronunciation. In my country he is called "Rubber", a shame of adaptation, don't let me say more ahahaha
@@alessiachiacchierini1058 you should use rufi if you want to go by pronunciation but his name is supposed to be luffy, the translation is right on that on.... So ye, don't know why ppl go by pronunciation, its pronounced like that because you don't distinguish the l from r in Japanese, but that's besides the point since the translation is luffy. And specially for a manga reader you should go by the translation no? XD
1. See Yuma in World Trigger for an example of speed 2. Imagine Luffy punching somebody into a wall just for it to be turned into rubber and have them bounce back into another punch like in wrestling.
I think you missed the most important ranking system of the possibilities, the history relevance, in this category i would classify the vulcanized rubber, the giantification and the bounce castle as the most reasonable. 1) Giantification: Is relevant for the reasons you cited in the video and also because of the theory that joyboy was a giant (wich is very possible) 2) The volcanized rubeer: This one is very likel1 not only because of Ace, but because of the symbolism regarding the sun god Nika. 3) The rubber castle: Despite being silly (wich fits luufy, might i add) this one has a lot of history implication, specially in preventing catastrophes and the destruction of the red line.
I think bouncy castle would also go a long ways to being resistant to Teach's DF. I think as annoying as some people may think it will be they dont give Oda enough credit that he'll make it look cool and worth the hype. I felt the same way when i first saw gear 3 randomly out of context but for the story its fun and it works.
you're completely right on the volcanization, Oda loves putting it right in front of our faces chapters before the series labels it, (easier to get away with in the manga) hes done it with so much, and lufftys red hawk arrival at onigashima was a perfect example! nice catch!
I think we already saw a little bit of his Awakening: In Snakeman against Katakuri he says that his attacks accelerate when they expand. The reason: His attacks make these turns midair it looks like the air becomes elastic and his punch bounces off
Maybe it is mentioned in the video and I didn't hear it, but I think that another possibility could be that Luffy will be able to control the properties of the rubber of his body. For example, now he has to use haki in gear 4 in order to compress the rubber to get more powerful, but with its awakening he could just do that without using haki. This would mean that he could turn into a non-rubber man, or even into someone who is made of a really soft rubber and can't even stand. I also think that giving punches with a rubber fist is much less harmful than a normal one, so he could get much more stronger with its awakening.
I would really like to have his awakening affecting his surroundings. The comedics effects this can have when interacting would be classic Oda. Just Imagine Luffy turning Usopps' nose in to rubber and pulling it.
Luffy's awakening (however far away it may be) is going to be game changing as is. We can assume we will be getting at least 1, if not 2 more gears. Being that most manual cars start out with 5 gears, but its possible we do get gear 6. With this we may see more on his advanced Haki coming into play. With Oda liking to come full circle with his ideas, it is quite possible that Gear 5 will be a mix of Gear 4th + Advanced Haki (be it Armament or Observation), while his awakening could be quite similar to that of Katakuri. I would like to see a Rubber transfer property, such as touching apart of the Sunny and seeing it become rubber. Maybe even touching the Sea itself so he has the ability to walk on it once again, similar to Brook and Aokiji. We can only sit and wait for the conlcusion of Wano to decide what comes first; Awakening, Gear 5, or a mix of both i.e. awakening stemming from Gear 5.
Brook has no influence over the water he "walks" on, because he is not even really walking on it -> Brook is just bones, ans is light, hence jumping on the surface tension while running really fast. Would he stay still, he would drown. Aside from that, touching an object so it becomes rubber... maybe not really.. but how about touching an object so it'll gain rubber properties..? Though I still thing that the awakening (should it even come to be), will be something more weilder centered, having it rather improve the body properties of Luffy, rather than changing anything in his surrounding - like the vulcanisation idea!
@@sacha9314 becoming rubber, rubber properties, potaeto potahto. I understand brook doesn’t actually walk on water but it was the premise of the point. The ability to go over water would be nice. Also the more I think, his awakening will pry be 4th gear without using Haki. Like an ability to not burn out after a time from eating so much power.
@@sacha9314 But sure in a perfect world where being rubber does not also imply rubber properties, sure. The difference is so major it makes a huge conundrum occur that changes the entire outcome of a guess on an ability/powerup of which we have no knowledge of whatsoever. I state again; whatever it may be, it will be game changing as is. Therefor I will end this discussion with a congratulations, salutation, and a good day till next video good sir/madam/or however you may identify :)
i think his awakening will blur the line between him and logias even more in the form of liquid silicone. since rubber is made from it i feel it still does count as the gumo gumo no mi. it would fit the theme of his gears since first it enhanced his elasticity, then is hardened in gear 4 and the next step could be the exact opposite in liquifying him. this would also be symbolic in a nice way of showing him surpassing katakuri since he just mimics that wit hthe help of his haki.
I have a feeling that he has experienced some kind of awakening off screen (timeskip) and I'm thinking that like his forms it is heavily restricted, maybe it's only possible to do currently at low power efficiency and perhaps he isn't able to go for second gear because of the mental or physical strain making it the kind of thing he has to learn to use by pulling it up through his gears and honing to the point that other characters can use their fruits and most likely be enhanced by the gear system in return. Then adding haki to the mix...
Maybe so. He was left alone for 6 months to practice more on what he learned in that island so who knows what he’s done. Probably played around with his fruit to experience the awakening?
I think Luffy's awakening is going to be much simpler than we all expected. He will simply use all his Gears at once. Doesn't sound that exciting, but kinda makes sense, that would mean that without him knowing, he has been training to awaken his devil-fruit, by bringing it to all extremes in each way, be it blood flow, bones, or muscles. Put it all together and it will probably drain his life-span as that is seemingly what's needed to awake your devil fruit - put everything you've got, on the line.
@@Leftbelow because its redoing the concept of gear 4 and its not original not to mention doesnt make sense to combine all gears when gear 4 is already superior to gear 2 and 3 he could just strengthen his haki in gear 4 rather than invent some new gear
@@acdesegurgels8663 By combining all the gears he would be able to benefit from each of the applications at once. Increasing the blood-flow to his muscles as well as increasing the size/power, combined with the fact that Gear 4 has different forms as well it would literally make him unstoppable.
The 7/10 internal idea sounds brilliant to me. The Awakening concept is like the final stage for Devil Fruit users in all 3 categories and the special/fabricated users in between too.
My theory is similar to the bouncy castle, with the addition that he controls the elasticity. Imagine making the ground of his enemies being very elastic with low resistance when they least expect it so they lose their momentum/balance. Making platforms and walls with high resistance so he himself can ricochet around to fight or maneuver the field. Especially since he will be fighting logia users like akainu, in the event he cant escape on time, he can make his environment stretchy enough to be pulled over to act as a shield of some sort so his skin avoids the dmg (magma hurts). Or even more of a stretch, everytime he comes into contact with his enemies, he can momentarily spread rubber properties on to others' bodies / weapons, making it difficult for them to fight back
I hope Luffy's awakening is just shock nullification/kinetic energy, where the rubber body just sucks up all damage, stores it up, and amplifies Luffy's next attack.
I see Luffy's awakening much like as he obtains absolute control over physical tension. I've been reading about Hooke's Law of physics(which is the law used to calculate elasticity, tension, etc) and then i realized it would fit pretty well to Luffy's abilities and combat style. What if he can take control over physical material deformation making things or people softer or harder, even weakening armament's haki inflicting more damage on impact. By the way, something i hope to see happening is a giant fire barrage. So i'm excited by Red Roc.
@@hardluckmk.52 I can agree cause if Luffy finds the right combination of both elasticity and tension he could literally go as fast as he wants everyone else would be slow like how when the flash first starts running everything is slowed down to almost slow mo.
The Gomu-Gomu no Mi's Awakening being the ability to stretch and twist space-time itself actually sounds like the kind of crazy shit Oda might pull; this is a story where a guy can use an ability to turn things into mochi to devastating effect after all lol But personally I like the vulcanised rubber theory better. Not only does it relate quite well to the Red Hawk attack, it mirrors the power of Akainu, who's one of Luffy's arch-enemies. Besides, vulcanised rubber might give him some resistance to magma, thus making Luffy Akainu's natural nemesis just as he was Enel's natural nemesis.
Since Luffy likes combining things and Oda likes to make Luffys ability simple and fun it would make sense that the devil fruit awakening would be a perfect internal expansion and combo of all gears, which would likely have the pure acceleration of gear 2nd and infinite stretching ability of snakeman but also the expansion of gear 3rd and defensive ability of bounce man (any attack would be bounced back regardless of power), with the added volcanization and fire usage and a good electricity conduit as well as a giant form since his ability to stretch and expand his body would be limitless. This would make all future enemies easily defeatable since he would have full control of his rubber body with haki as well for max expansion and compression which is limitless in its possibility if really thought of. One example would be why not make a giant fist the size of Wano, compress it with haki and punch Kaido halfway across the grandline, this would also make his strong enemies be able to survive this thus fulfilling the no kill rule
I think his awakening would be much simpler like making a small area where he lands on rubber-like trampoline to gain more momentum and making his attacks more destructive while staying in his gear forms😅
He'll turn everything into rubber but they can stretch like an extention of his own body so he can do all his attacks with the environment or the rubber he creates. Imagine him pulling the air like Whitebeard and you see whitebeard behind and the pull creating massive air currents or shifting around space, or turning a whole forest into gatlin arms coated with haki and just devastating a whole army.
It would be freaky if Luffy's fifth gear was named "Joy boy" cuz why not. It sounds good after snakeman after its considered as technically the strongest gears as its probably the last one.
**I think it will be an internal effect. He will unlock logia abilities.** And the word Gum will actually come into effect. Luffy has been using rubber abilities the entire time. But not using any Gum attributes (Insert Hisoka quote). I believe he will be able to get his arm cut off and stick it back on like a piece of gum. Meaning, cutting attacks wont work on him since his body has both properties of gum and rubber. And you can see the possibility of him splitting himself into 2 smaller pieces and multitasking. If Joyboy was really a giant, and he had the gum-gum fruit... He could have split himself into multiple smaller pieces of himself. And it could reveal the possibility that the he was Joyboy, the "Wisedom king" (Hyogoro the flower said this when he saw luffy in gear 4) and the sun god nika. Meaning they are separate- yet are the same person.
But gum has nothing to do with it. The fruit is called the "Gomu Gomu no Mi" and gomu is japanese for rubber. The fruit is literally called "the rubber rubber fruit". "Gum" is only in the english translation and it doesn't literally mean the substance gum. When the series was brought over to the west, “Gomu Gomu” received a somewhat liberal translation. While “gum” isn’t a proper translation of “gomu”, it still preserves the idea that Luffy is elastic, and “Gum Gum” is much more phonetically similar to “Gomu Gomu” than “Rubber Rubber” would’ve been
Vulcanisation makes sense as one of the future opponents has the magma magma fruit and the increased heat tolerance is apt. I can just imagine a scenario like ace's where Akainu tries to put a hole in Luffy's chest, but he's like sike bitch.
@@irsa1121 yeah its a high chance for sabo to be the one who finishes akainu of Firstly because he inherited ace's will Second was his promise to never let "that" happen again(probably pointing out akainu killing one of his precious family again) Third and the last because he is in the revolutionary army, basically a natural enemy for him and dragon since they are part of world govt which the marines/akainu try to protect as well
Love your content, man. The line Sabo said after burning Burgess always struck me as odd and your last video made so much sense. I'm looking forward to this video. Also, I really, really wanna know what are your thoughts on Sanji potentially having CoC.
Actually I think that his Gears are already him partially awakening his fruit. If your theory is true that the devil fruits inherit the souls or will power of former users, ever gear could stand for a former gomu gomu no mi user. I really believe that Joy boy was a giant and the big strawhat was his aaand that joy boy once posesed the gomu gomu no mi. Soo Luffys gear 3, him enlargening his arms and legs could be Luffy subconsciously immitating his former self...JoyBoy.
This is personally my favourite: Luffy's awakening allows him to turn other people (partially) into rubber. Luffy needed years to master his fruit, so imagine if someone like Blackbeard, who is used to a very specific fighting style, suddenly has his arm turned into rubber and doesnt have control over it. You would effectively counter his negation of devil fruit powers since he'd overstretch the arm more often than he would not. Since Blackbeard is also more susceptible to damage, this could also mean that while he would be immune to the damage of punches like Luffy, he would still recieve damage where Luffy does not.
Few people actually know this, but luffy's awakening was already activated from chapter 1 It's affect is spanning the 4th wall and stretching the plot/story itself!! Hence the 1033 chapters!! AND COUNTING!!
I feel like his awakening is going to be related to fire as that’s the direction he seems to be going. It would represent Ace and be like a visual representation of Luffy’s ability to take out the world government. Maybe he takes gear 2 to a whole new level that his increased blood flow doesn’t just create steam but ignites his rubber body along with his haki, boosting his speed durability and most importantly his flashy ness because everyone wants him to keep looking cooler and cooler. So basically just how gear 4 takes gear 3 to the next level and adds haki, gear 5/awakening would take gear 2 to the next level along with gear 3 and 4 fully using every function of his devil fruit while being on fire.
Vulcanization and gigantification are my favorites, not to mention that the gigantification fits with a lot of things in the story, and it might shed a light on how Elbaf is still (allegedly) a small village even after centuries. But hear me out: it doesn't make much sense that Joy Boy would have a big strawhat to use (if he ate the Gomu) when in this mode. I mean, this awakening mode uses a lot of energy right? So what would be the point in using a giant strawhat for mere minutes? So yeah, I'm betting on vulcanization first and gigantification second. And thanks, I thought that I was the only one to hate the bouncy castle thingy. It's a good thing that we saw Law and Kid's awakening, so people can come up with different teories.
I don't think Elbaf which has a king and a prince is only the small village in Big Mom's flashback. Seems to me that village is just a small part of Elbaf
Is bounce castle really that bad? Do people just think because they predicted it that Oda wouldn't be able to make it something Fun, Cool and Interesting? Outside the context of the story a lot of Luffy's Abilities and Techniques aren't very innovative or smart. Even considering Law's and Kid's awakenings, I think it probably shows that regular paramecia awakenings are just applying the properties of their DF to another thing. For Luffy that thing could be the environment, Kaido's Hassaikai or even Kaido Himself.
I just recently started watching all of these theory videos, and oh man seeing this as this last chapter came out is insane to me. I wonder how many people thought you were crazy.
I have always love the vulcanization theory because will build up the abilities that Luffy currently have. For example he could create an air pump to pump his body up without needing to blow himself. He could seal sections of his body so he could no longer needed to used that much haki. He could also make his body heat resistant so he could use red rock like a normal pistol technic. And he could alter sections of his body to any shape he likes I love this Theory
Luffy awakening will only happen when he fight blackbeard. He is the exact counter gura gura no mi. When blackbeard were to use the power to destroy buildings, luffy will use his awakening and make everything rubber which is basically resistant to any form of breaking. What are your thoughts about it ?
I don't remember where I heard this, but another insane theory is that Luffy's awakening will allow him to function like a rubber eraser and delete things from existence.
I think the "bouncy house" could actually be really cool if done right. He could also potentially turn his enemies into rubber similar to how Kid made Big Mom magnetic. Both of those combined would make a really satisfying awakening. Picture these scenarios: - At some point, Onigashima starts to fall from the sky. Maybe Kaido needs to focus more of his energy to use his awakened form and therefore stops holding Onigashima up. Momo helps slow the fall, but it isn't enough. At that moment, Luffy awakens his fruit for the first time and turns all of Onigashima into rubber, softening the impact, preventing the explosion, and saving everyone. - Luffy turns Kaido into rubber, making it harder for Kaido to control his body. This prevents Kaido from dodging his attacks or blocking. It also makes Kaido bouncy. Luffy then uses advanced coc coated Jet Gatling, and his fists become faster and faster as he attacks by bouncing off Kaido. - Luffy used Culverin and bounces it off the rubber world so that it speeds up every time it changes direction. This also sends shockwaves through the rubber world which get larger with each hit. The shockwaves eventually reach massive heights and crash into his enemies like a tsunami. - Luffy turns his crew into rubber and trains teaches them to have basic control over their bodies when they're not fighting. During fights, he could turn them again, and give his crew extra durability and attack power. Imagine Zoro fighting an opponent in the sky and asking Luffy to turn him into rubber so that he can stretch his arms and cut the opponent directly. Sanji could spin fast to stretch his leg and use a Diable Jambe with much more force. Those are just some of the first things that come to mind. Don't write off "bouncy house." Oda has a talent for making ridiculous things extremely overpowered.
And last but not least: he uses Bouncy House to go full Bellamy against opponents, richocheting at crazy fast Gear 4th level speeds. At that point he'd be breaking the sound barrier without so much as a sweat.
Maybe he could even give elastic properties to the air around him, so imagine if he was using gear 4, flying around, and not only his speed is greatly increased, but the air around him also boosts his speed by giving it elastic properties.
Im also very partial to the "Giant Form" awakening. We could have a cool shot of Luffy and Kaido with the scale reverses now, so that Kaido is looking up at Luffy. If we go to Elbaf next that could also play a roll there.
my biggest argument in favor of the bouncy castle is that i really want to hear Luffy's VA say "Gear Fifth: BOUNCE HOUSE" while The Very Very Very Strongest plays 11/10, best upgrade
My personal theory on Luffy vs Kaido (Chapter 1032): There has been many hints that the gum gum fruit has a bigger meaning to the plot of the entire show and I think its awakening could have something to do with it. In his fight with Kaido he just learned advanced conquerors haki and we have not seen how he can combine it with his devil fruit. Based on this it does not make sense for Luffy to gain another power up so soon and rather he will unlock gear 5 or a new type of gear 4 with his new haki.
He literally unlocked two Advanced Haki types in less than 30 chapters. Hell, this is the second time he got two power ups in a single arc. The last time we saw this happen was the Enies Lobby Arc, when he used Gears 2 and 3 for the first time. If the Monster Trio don't get at LEAST two power ups each during this arc, I'll be surprised.
I think vulcanized rubber would be a bad ass awakening. He could do a form like gear 4th without using Haki. He'd be free to use his Haki on just his fingers and therefore concentrate his attack power. Without sacrificing his defense.
What I imagined for Luffys awakening was exactly the bouncy castle, but it wouldn't just be that. He could basically generate static electricity with himself and the environment around him, maybe giving him a lightning punch like Killua from HxH. I think bouncy castle is the most likely awakening and I trust Oda to make something good and op out of it. My favorite from what you've mentioned (besides the utterly op last one) must be the vulcanization. But I don't think, he needs awakening for that Edit: oh and what would also be really cool, would be if Luffy could morph his body like Katakuri did to dodge attacks with the help of Luffys future sight
My theory of Luffy’s future power ups, I believe Vulcanization Gear 5 will happen and it will be used against Akainu to counter his magma. My theory on awakening, his most useful ability will be making rubber out air creating an invisible reflective wall. I see it being useful against Gura Gura no mi shockwaves. Also possibly creating his own quakes by temporarily turning land into rubber, pulling it far out of place, slingshot the land and at the same time returning it to its natural element. He may unlock awakening during the Great War that’s suppose to happen because awakening’s can greatly effect a battlefield. - So Gear 5 & awakening will happen against Akainu & marines - Conqueror’s Observation will be learned when he faces Shanks - Then against Blackbeard he’ll put all his skills to use.
not to be that guy but with haki vulcanization is useless if oda takes liberties and doesnt literally vulcanize him then it'd be cool but vulcanizing rubber doesnt mean it can counter magma, vulcanizing it doesnt make it hot per se. I really like your theory on turning things around him elastic, that would be a really cool thing to see.
Vulcanization is an old theory already. It’s not feasible for fighting Akainu but for Blackbeard maybe? Since he got Haki to nullify Blackbeard’s fruit. If that’s the case then Akainu would be Sabo’s adversary. A revenge match for Ace.
@@strikurr7861 ... The idea with vulcanization I'm thinking about is related to the process of vulcanization. Basically the more rubber heats up, the more powerful it becomes.
The thing is, Luffy was overpowered from the beginning. Just imagine his opponents despair as they try to beat down an incredibly fast and violent rubber duck. You can punch the rubber duck a million times and it will keep its shape and strength. All of the internal powerups are just improved fighting techniques IMHO (think Gear 4th but with more duration/control/speed). The only powerup which makes sense to me is time bending. It mirrors "bouncing castle world" as everything moves slower/faster like rubber expanding/contracting.
I think the combination off all gears would be a waste, the second theory that he could form his body into weapons wouldn’t fit his character, the third theory with forming surroundings into weapons/clones would take away the uniquenesses of robins devil fruit and the last theory would be way too overpowered…in my opinion Oda‘s probably going to surprise us with something we couldn’t even think of
What if it allows him to stretch other things he touches. Similar to rubber world but only what he touches. This would allow him to have massive speed because rubber on rubber means a trampoline effect takes place. This would make him by far one of the fastest characters. Second, Luffy would gain more strength. This could happen from punching other people causing them to bounce back taking more damage and making them not be able to block. I don't know of anyone else with this theory and I personally think it would be very likely. I also think he would be able to stretch items and solidify making them longer or compress/uncompress them like his gear 4 bounce man punchs. Tell me what you think pleaseeeee I need to know.
nice i like this idea and he can use spear like the golden monkey whose staff extends upto infinity. but luffy doesnt use a weapon so its a shame. and i still dont know why everyone dislikes rubber world idea. it may seem like a ridiculous idea at first like a bouncy castle but so does his other forms. he will use it creatively and suprise us like how doflamingo was suprised. and i think the air around him will also become rubber and be like the quirk of gentle criminal from mha. tell how my idea is ☺
I think turning the environment around him into rubber is the most likely theory but I don’t really like that. I would much prefer the All Gears Combined or Volcanization Theories to take place
My opinion in the giant straw hat Maybe its like a shape shifting type of object that it will transform to the person feature(like the strawhat stands for luffy) who is the most threat in the op world
The only reason why luffy has not awakened his devil fruit cuz if he actually awakens his fruit he will be too powerful to handle. He can control the battle field and can punch enemies from ground using awakening. He can even suffocate people to death. Edit: Imagine luffy using awakening and pumping the ground just like what he does in gear 2. And imagine steam from ground. Or even flames. Now i see why fish man island was burning in prophecy. It has to be his awakening
I think there’s a possibility of him being able to turn other people in to rubber, because Luffy s fruit turned him into rubber, and his awakening could do the exact opposite, similar to law and kids awakenings.
Luffy's skill are based on.. vehicles? and... animals? Your suggestions are good but you should also consider Luffy's fighting style. He was able to pump pressure to his body, can increase the pressure of his vessels to make his movements faster, he can expand and harden. What more can he improve? I bet he will be able to stretch armanent haki making him invulnerable. His weakness are pointy objects and with armanent haki, he nullifies that. If he can stretch armanent haki, he will be immuned to all physical attacks. Gear 5 might be the giant form plus rubberized armanent haki to beat Kaido. But his awakening is a bit tough to predict. The closest is like Katakuri
I think it would be interesting if the original devil fruit tree was a gum tree. That would have great story potential if Luffy could control or communicate with it. Otherwise I think the gomu gomu is the natural enemy of the gura gura (Blackbeard). Also the defensive capability of Gomu could lend to endurance, longevity, and recovery from extreme Haki usage, which might be ultimately what was sickening Roger.
Ohara: which option will you choose? Oda:all of the above Want proof? Gotcha Internal:overdrive Its not the exact description of what he said but its somewhat that Chapter 1045 luffy uses muscle balloon in that same chapter he pumps blood into his heart in 1044 hes also growing huge muscles and beating up kaido Internal:volcan one Again not exactly the same as he described but his hair is literally the sun, also while hes being hit by kaido he makes his face the shape of the weapon Internal:Giant In 1045 he turns into a giant (perhaps for elbaf) External: bouncy house At the start of 1045 hes bouncing around (not flying like some of you guys thought) External:clones So far this one hasnt been shown External: stretch space He stretched the ground to protect himself in chapter 1044 (its not exactly the same but its somewhat that)
It’s going to be something like invulnerability. Luffy has come back twice after being defeated by Kaido in this fight, each time stronger than before. He bounces back after defeat no matter how many times it happens and it will probably also include better control over his forms, though probably not so much with haki to begin with.

Not sure if there is an interesting deity in far eastern lore, that would fit Luffy well though, I am simply not familiar with it.
this makes the most sense bro.
😳 you hit the nail on the head man
you made some accurate predictions man, now that the Zunesha recognized the "drums of liberation"(return of Joyboy) just when the panel of Luffy smiling appears it makes more sense that the fruit has something mythical
Damn he must be from the future
Dudeee. You hit the nail there bruh…
Kaido no way is actually weakened sure he was hurt a few times but I guess luffy is most likely gonna defeat him with mastering conqueror haki coating
The stretching of time and space theory makes the most sense against Blackbeard, because how else can you counter black holes and shockwaves? I believe Luffy is the only one who can counter Blackbeard through this method. The rubber fruit is essentially a hard counter for the "strongest devil fruit".

Maybe I just like this theory because I think it’d be incredible to see Luffy bounce his enemies from surface to surface, almost like a Monkey going berserk…but maybe that’s just me…
Luffy is made of rubber himself, so the theory is out of the question, don't confuse him with Doflamingo's fruit.
@@Helcurttttt Katakuri is made out of mochi and was able to do the same thing as Doflamingo, whats your point here?

It's also a hard counter to the gura gura no mi. What can an earthquake do if the earth is rubber?
my mom
still, seems a bit redundant given that luffy can already bounce himself.
it is the ultimate troll awakening.
Yaaasss sun wukong theory with the staff
Fun fact: Luffy is the most creative person with his devil fruit ex: Gear 2, Gear 3, Gear 4. Also am I the only one curious to see Gear 4th Tankman unstuffed version
I always thought getting stuffed was a requirement to get tankman.
@@guyatwork5527 it is
I donno if we're ever gonna see tank man again.
You mean oda? Change my mind jk
That alters the characteristics of the user ex -luffy
I always assumed this was going to be his awakening and still think it has like a 90% chance
Ugh.. it's such a stupid idea. That's not going to be his awakening.
@@manualdreamer5112 every paramecia awakening is spreading ur ability to something else it’s going to happen
Iove this idea tbh
I feel like it wouldn't fit luffy's punching and brute strength type style would be a cool ability but not for luffy
Personally I like the fire one better
he cannot interact with the environment, as you can see, his type of fruit is Paramecia, and differs from others, since he himself consists of this rubber.
And everyone but luffy would struggle to even stand let alone fight
My theory is that Luffy's awakening comes from the other properties of rubber besides just the ability to stretch. Rubber is an effective shock absorber, what if Luffy's awakening allows him to all but negate incoming damage? Another thought I've had is that Luffy's awakening resembles Kuma's DF power, taking advantage of rubber's bounciness to repel damage.
Luffy can already repel impact bro
@@riccoatkinson378 I didn't explain it well but I think Luffy will not only be able to deflect the impact, but also redirect the damage back to the attacker. Kuma can repel abstract concepts with his DF and I think Luffy's could be a passive version of that.
Also reabsorbing any damage and infinite stretching ability would literally make him the ultimate fighter in terms of offense and defense
In this case will haki attacks be able to be negated?
@@john-es6up It's possible I guess King's fire proves you can even negate Conqueror's Haki
I think Rubber World is more likely than the other ones cuz all the awakenings seem to be what Doflamingo described: the Devil fruit power effecting the world around them
•Doflamingo and Katakuri changed the environment
•Law applied a mini room to his sword
•Kidd applying his magnetism to Big Mom instead of himself
As silly as it sounds Rubber World might be closer to being real than we think and I bet if it does happen it’ll be cool maybe we are just underestimating it at least I was
I agree, which is why I like to think the knock up streams may have something to do with an awakened gomu-gomu
Agreed too many people are thinking awakening is some sort of form when it really is a expansion of your base fruit powers except instead of producing or manipulating through yourself you can now do it on the environment.
Agreed, It would also be a great counter to the tremor fruit that Teach has
I think it's less rubber world, and more like rubber transfer more similar to Kidd. If he holds a pipe it will be able to expand and return to the natural state like the monkey king Sun Wukong and his staff. More likely to be known, look at son Goku and his power pole

ITS ABOUT DRIVE ITS ABOUT POWER
i like this theory a lot
it makes sense
@@KuruptGamingPS he has the properties of both rubber AND gum
If you ask me the monkey part in my opinion, just refers to the family stirring up trouble. Monkeys are mischievous creatures.

BUNGEE GUMMURU!
I like this idea a lot
This is smart

People that rely on weapons would be heavily at a disadvantage if their weapons were no longer lethal.
bouncy castle idea sucks tho I hope oda doesn't do that

Luffy is made of rubber himself, so the theory is out of the question, don't confuse him with Doflamingo's fruit.
0/10 lamest idea ever
I like to think it's like whitebeards power but in of cracks from the air it's ripples that makes everyone off balance
imagine luffy makes the air rubber
When it was mentioned by Doffy he was confused about what it was so if he did he isn’t aware of what it was
@@a1piece true, it could be that he encountered something during the last 6 months and had no idea.
Create ocean waves and tsunami, sounds alot like One of the ancient weapons (Uranus )
Are you Oda himself or sth???
luffy turn enemies bodies into rubber and without luffy's experience they can't fight properly. luffy spent YEARS learning how to fight with a rubber body, so imagine kaido trying to punch luffy but his hand just goes flying away leaving him open for a counter attack.

Wtf

That sounds like meliodas' full counter
Agree

I think you missed the most important ranking system of the possibilities, the history relevance, in this category i would classify the vulcanized rubber, the giantification and the bounce castle as the most reasonable.
1) Giantification: Is relevant for the reasons you cited in the video and also because of the theory that joyboy was a giant (wich is very possible)
2) The volcanized rubeer: This one is very likel1 not only because of Ace, but because of the symbolism regarding the sun god Nika.
3) The rubber castle: Despite being silly (wich fits luufy, might i add) this one has a lot of history implication, specially in preventing catastrophes and the destruction of the red line.
I think bouncy castle would also go a long ways to being resistant to Teach's DF. you're completely right on the volcanization, Oda loves putting it right in front of our faces chapters before the series labels it, (easier to get away with in the manga) hes done it with so much, and lufftys red hawk arrival at onigashima was a perfect example!
@@jampaxtg3017 there is a substantial difference between rubber and rubber properties
@@sacha9314 there is also a substantial difference between pride and power.
@@sacha9314 But sure in a perfect world where being rubber does not also imply rubber properties, sure. The difference is so major it makes a huge conundrum occur that changes the entire outcome of a guess on an ability/powerup of which we have no knowledge of whatsoever. Therefor I will end this discussion with a congratulations, salutation, and a good day till next video good sir/madam/or however you may identify :)
Well we got both the first internal and the bouncy castle one.
Edit: Apparently we also have the giant one.
i think his awakening will blur the line between him and logias even more in the form of liquid silicone.
since rubber is made from it i feel it still does count as the gumo gumo no mi.
it would fit the theme of his gears since first it enhanced his elasticity, then is hardened in gear 4 and the next step could be the exact opposite in liquifying him.
this would also be symbolic in a nice way of showing him surpassing katakuri since he just mimics that wit hthe help of his haki.
I would like to see this and he could use future site like katakuri soe n make his fruit like a logia
Inb4 another dark king flash back (joking)
Maybe so. He was left alone for 6 months to practice more on what he learned in that island so who knows what he’s done. Probably played around with his fruit to experience the awakening?
14:10 I love how you basically bamboozle us with this 😂😂😂 like I'm over here all excited and into the video and then you pull that 😂😂😂
I think Luffy's awakening is going to be much simpler than we all expected.
Sounds very lame and wont happen lol
@@acdesegurgels8663 Can you elaborate on why does it sound lame and couldn't happen?
Or even more of a stretch, everytime he comes into contact with his enemies, he can momentarily spread rubber properties on to others' bodies / weapons, making it difficult for them to fight back
Bro you never fail to blow my mind in these videos so let’s see this one
I hope Luffy's awakening is just shock nullification/kinetic energy, where the rubber body just sucks up all damage, stores it up, and amplifies Luffy's next attack.
I definitely think you might be right.
That is definitely what Oda would do: make Luffy a living impact dial
Oh how insane this man must’ve gone when he basically predicted 5th gear.
So i'm excited by Red Roc.
that would be really op
Bro if he masters how to control his elasticity and tension Luffy will be the definition of broken
@@everyone_is_ur1hater491 i prefer this over the time and space one, that one’s a bit of a stretch
@@hardluckmk.52 I can agree cause if Luffy finds the right combination of both elasticity and tension he could literally go as fast as he wants everyone else would be slow like how when the flash first starts running everything is slowed down to almost slow mo.

The Gomu-Gomu no Mi's Awakening being the ability to stretch and twist space-time itself actually sounds like the kind of crazy shit Oda might pull; this is a story where a guy can use an ability to turn things into mochi to devastating effect after all lol
But personally I like the vulcanised rubber theory better. Not only does it relate quite well to the Red Hawk attack, it mirrors the power of Akainu, who's one of Luffy's arch-enemies. Besides, vulcanised rubber might give him some resistance to magma, thus making Luffy Akainu's natural nemesis just as he was Enel's natural nemesis.
it also matches the whole theory of luffy being the sun god of wano and the ancients
Sun god Nika
If Luffy could stretch time, maybe he is Gol D Rogers that lost his memories.
@@mr.muffin4743 which would then also make him the exact opposite counterpoint to the 'moon goddess' Imu
Giant luffy using red hawk combined with elephant gatling
I think his awakening would be much simpler like making a small area where he lands on rubber-like trampoline to gain more momentum and making his attacks more destructive while staying in his gear forms😅
isn't that just spring spring fruit
@@ラグナロク-u6y yeah he basically used a move like that in Dressrosa when fighting Doflamingo
I was thinking about this too. Remember how Bellamy would use his springs to bounce from buildings?
While “gum” isn’t a proper translation of “gomu”, it still preserves the idea that Luffy is elastic, and “Gum Gum” is much more phonetically similar to “Gomu Gomu” than “Rubber Rubber” would’ve been
@@donniethedealer2623 I know, but this would be a very good way to introduce gum properties here.
@@jonsin7697 except you can't just introduce gum properties. It's not even related to his abilities and doesn't have anything to do with gum
Vulcanisation makes sense as one of the future opponents has the magma magma fruit and the increased heat tolerance is apt. I can just imagine a scenario like ace's where Akainu tries to put a hole in Luffy's chest, but he's like sike bitch.
Good catch. Luffy is weak to heat and piercing right now

Stage 1: Luffy stretches himself
Final stage: Luffy stretches everything including time around him. 👍👍👍
Sounds very interesting!
This is personally my favourite:
Luffy's awakening allows him to turn other people (partially) into rubber.
Few people actually know this, but luffy's awakening was already activated from chapter 1
It's affect is spanning the 4th wall and stretching the plot/story itself!!
Hence the 1033 chapters!!
AND COUNTING!!
damm this theory is gonna be truuue sooon ! congrats ohara 👍👊
Very interesting
Gear 3 and Gear 4 are fundamentally different skills tho.
Gear 3 = bone
Gear 4 = muscle
i mean he's the sun god
Excellent point
I don't remember where I heard this, but another insane theory is that Luffy's awakening will allow him to function like a rubber eraser and delete things from existence.
Luffy'd never wanna get rid of all trace of someone's hard work, or passion.
I think the "bouncy house" could actually be really cool if done right. He could also potentially turn his enemies into rubber similar to how Kid made Big Mom magnetic. Both of those combined would make a really satisfying awakening. Picture these scenarios:
- At some point, Onigashima starts to fall from the sky.
Just Imagine Zoro in Gear 4th LOL
Maybe he could even give elastic properties to the air around him, so imagine if he was using gear 4, flying around, and not only his speed is greatly increased, but the air around him also boosts his speed by giving it elastic properties.

Im also very partial to the "Giant Form" awakening. We could have a cool shot of Luffy and Kaido with the scale reverses now, so that Kaido is looking up at Luffy. If we go to Elbaf next that could also play a roll there.
that could also be called gear 4 tank man but like giant version because if you remember we only saw stuffed version

My personal theory on Luffy vs Kaido (Chapter 1032):
There has been many hints that the gum gum fruit has a bigger meaning to the plot of the entire show and I think its awakening could have something to do with it.
But I don't think, he needs awakening for that
Edit: oh and what would also be really cool, would be if Luffy could morph his body like Katakuri did to dodge attacks with the help of Luffys future sight
- So Gear 5 & awakening will happen against Akainu & marines
- Conqueror’s Observation will be learned when he faces Shanks
- Then against Blackbeard he’ll put all his skills to use.
not to be that guy
but with haki
vulcanization is useless
if oda takes liberties and doesnt literally vulcanize him
then it'd be cool
but vulcanizing rubber doesnt mean it can counter magma, vulcanizing it doesnt make it hot per se.
@@cipherP9 True, but I think its overshadowed by haki.
Just my opinion here.
I think the combination off all gears would be a waste, the second theory that he could form his body into weapons wouldn’t fit his character, the third theory with forming surroundings into weapons/clones would take away the uniquenesses of robins devil fruit and the last theory would be way too overpowered…in my opinion Oda‘s probably going to surprise us with something we couldn’t even think of
i was thinking maybe itll allow him to absorb the kinetic force in his environment and use it as his own
What if it allows him to stretch other things he touches. Tell me what you think pleaseeeee I need to know.
nice i like this idea and he can use spear like the golden monkey whose staff extends upto infinity. but luffy doesnt use a weapon so its a shame. and i still dont know why everyone dislikes rubber world idea. it may seem like a ridiculous idea at first like a bouncy castle but so does his other forms. he will use it creatively and suprise us like how doflamingo was suprised. and i think the air around him will also become rubber and be like the quirk of gentle criminal from mha. tell how my idea is ☺
and if awakened spears wont work on him, cuz spear would go inside him like bullets
Wow he really had all his theories combined didn’t he
I think turning the environment around him into rubber is the most likely theory but I don’t really like that. I would much prefer the All Gears Combined or Volcanization Theories to take place
My opinion in the giant straw hat
Maybe its like a shape shifting type of object that it will transform to the person feature(like the strawhat stands for luffy) who is the most threat in the op world
Im seeing this video for the second time, and man how accurate haha
Looking back on this, this actually kind of accurate
Primarily just rubber, but as time passed and as more creative he got, he was able to invent a *multitude* of things out of.. just that.
I see. So if by any chance Luffy catch the same Illness that Roger had, he will survive due to his dg nature.
Ohara: which option will you choose?
Oda:all of the above
Want proof? Gotcha

Internal:volcan one
Again not exactly the same as he described but his hair is literally the sun, also while hes being hit by kaido he makes his face the shape of the weapon
Internal:Giant
In 1045 he turns into a giant (perhaps for elbaf)
External: bouncy house
At the start of 1045 hes bouncing around (not flying like some of you guys thought)
External:clones
So far this one hasnt been shown
External: stretch space
He stretched the ground to protect himself in chapter 1044 (its not exactly the same but its somewhat that)
It’s going to be something like invulnerability. Luffy has come back twice after being defeated by Kaido in this fight, each time stronger than before. He bounces back after defeat no matter how many times it happens and it will probably also include better control over his forms, though probably not so much with haki to begin with.
