I am a logia user and you are right, after subscribing to your dope channel, my power enchanced significantly. Thank you for the shortcut to power-ups.
For me when Roger say "I'm not gonna die, partner" it's a reference to this: "When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom!? No! It’s when… they are forgotten." Or something like that. But still good theory
The idea of the second death. The first is the body, the second is the concept. People only ever truly die when they cease to live in the memory of the living.
What if "D." stands for devil and only the ones with the "D." in their names have the ability to pass their will to the next users through the devil fruits? Could this also explain the will of "D."?
Back in alabasta we learned that pell's and Chaka's DF's are the guardian deities of alabasta. We can see statues of there DF's out side of the palace. But the palace was build +3000 years ago meaning that there are only 2 options. 1) DF's are older than 3000 years and long long ago some of the founders of alabasta got those fruits and they worshipped them. 2) They just worshipped the ancient beasts but during the void century the ancient kingdom gave them DF's based on there guardian deities as a gift. This might also apply to Yamato's fruit.
Devil Fruits reincarnate to random places, but the fruits that you mentioned probably have a high chance of reincarnating in their respective countries since their past users would have been very loyal and loving to their country.
Even though it is controversial, This would be brilliant writing. It is the ultimate paradox. The man willing to be the freest man in the world was never actually free, but a slave of his own destiny. One of the best rhetorical elements of one piece is the paradox, for instance zoro being trained by the same man he wants to defeat and the pirate King coming from the weakest ocean. Luffy being chained would actually be masterful writing and could lead up to a great internal struggle for him as MC.
Personally I've always found devil fruits more interesting than haki Sure haki is a cool power system and makes non fruit users more relevant but it's still limited in scope while devil fruits can do just about anything especially when pushed to their extremes by creative users like luffy I always like seeing what wacky stuff oda comes up with like the flying triceratops
They're both cool in my opinion. I think Oda has done a good job actually making Haki more interesting and unique with the special abilities you can gain from it. My only issue with it is that it feels limited in the sense of what characters can actually do. I wish we could see more things like Mantra, Ryou, or future sight. I'm sure there are plenty of special and specific abilities that other people can do with Haki that we just haven't seen. I highly doubt Ryou is the style of Haki unique to an island or race of people. Devil fruits have always been amazing since the beginning. Never had an issue with them and I agree it's a better power system. But Haki is just as needed to counter Logia abilities and give non Devil Fruit users a chance to have unique abilities.
Agreed. Devil Fruits really helped with adding creativity to the fights and pushed users to be as flexible as possible with their powers for victory. Haki really exists to make fights a lot easier to write from Oda's perspective if you're putting a non-DF user against a DF user. Plus it fits to be a plot device if you need a character to get of a difficult situation.
This is a surprisingly good theory. Now, this makes me wanna take it a step further. What if devil fruits never had anything to do with devils. As we know devil fruits can be made by humans, or SMILES can be. What if they were created by the ancient kingdom where they wanted to preserve their ancestors and pass their wisdom to the next generations using the souls of those who came earlier, passing on their power, abilities, and knowledge. (which may be what MADS was trying to do, reverse engineering it to perfection, SMILES seem to be an imperfect version of DFs; which is why the smiles show up as a separate entity rather than complete assimilation of the power) and as the WG wiped them off, they could not destroy them completely. Because someone else would eat the fruit and carry on their will and a new DF would awaken as the earlier user died. Also, D's are called the enemies of the Gods, otherwise what we would call a Devil. So what if the D.'s are the descendants of those who created devil fruits which has nothing to do with a devil, rather than it was a miracle of science, as a super-soldier serum of sorts with the side effect of making them into a hammer. Once the WG took over they created this myth of the sea devil, making them sound evil and them as 'good' or Gods who freed the planet. Edit: Now that I think about it even further, I think Zoans have something to do with Minks, it is their powers and will that gets passed on; in fact, the only caveat to this I can think of would be the Hito Hito no Mi, which also kinda works because Humans are considered as a variant of Monkey Minks by the Mink tribe.
I think this is possible. If we seeing Sanji Case, we will realize that Judge actually succeed in making a a perfect df user with no flaw. Sanji suddenly kick a woman and get more fire on his body.
@@slkalmuhairi How would Domflamigo play into this considering that he is a celestial dragon but also managed to awaken his fruit? Also how would the celestial dragon play into this theory, do they have something that actually sets them apart from everyone or was it a red herring created by the WG.
This is the reason I love one piece like you can find smallest to smallest detail in everything weather it's a foreshadowing or some kind of plot device
I know right? It's such a good way of getting the reader to be interested in the world without forcing it down your throat. That's why One Piece's world building is held in such a high regard in my opinion. Most other manga and anime require you to actually care about the series a lot, while also having most of this information in content outside of the main series like movies and guidebooks. One Piece does more than just get you invested in characters, it gets you invested in it's world. You are interested in seeing what happens in the world of One Piece just as much as you are for the characters. It feels like each character, even if their backstory hasn't been introduced yet, actually existed in the world. Not a single character feels like they came out of nowhere which is insane for a series with over 1,000 chapters. I love One Piece.
I think that awakened Zoans not only enhanced your overall power, but also lets you freely control your animal parts. I believe that forced awakening gives you something like the impel down guardians and Chopper's monster form, but natural awakening gets us something like Marco or Laffite only changing his wings, or Onigumo and Black Maria keeping most human features but having clear animal parts. Also explains how the rumble balls work since Chopper can bend the limits of his transformations and after perfecting them and training he gets different forms. Ultimately, Chopper could get access to any of his forms (past and present) without using the rumble balls
What an amazing theory Ohara, it's incredible how it fits so many aspects of the series. However it's still weird that Roger would have eaten the Gomu Gomu No Mi and no one said anything about it. It would make more sense that he didn't but JoyBoy did, Roger (who asked Rayleigh to help him "turn the world upside down") reached Laugh Tale and discovered the truth about the world realized that he was not the one to do it (perhaps understanding the connection of JoyBoy and the Gomu Gomu No Mi as well) but was his role to discover it beforehand. Shanks knew Roger was sick and after his return from Laugh Tale asked Roger if he was able to fulfill his dream (turning the world upside down), Roger explained that he wasn't the one to do it, making our RedBoy burst into tears knowing the fate of his captain, but also inheriting his will and Starwhat. Few years later Shanks discover the importance of the Gomu Gomu No Mi and sought it out. Luffy's connection with JoyBoy through the Gomu Gomu No Mi's will comes in the way that Luffy wants to be the 'person with the most freedom' which so happen to be the Pirate King (because of Roger that this title even exits), Shanks 'kinda knew' the importance of Luffy after he ate the fruit (when asked later by Whitebeard about his arm, his response was a 'bet on the New Era'), and upon seeing his determination of becoming the next Pirate King bestowed the Strawhat and "Roger's will" to be the one to turn the world upside down, uniting JoyBoy (Gomu Gomu No Mi) and Roger (Strawhat) in Luffy. [Bonus: Jolly Rogers on One Piece sometimes represents 'freedom', a main concept of the story, and Jolly = 'joyous'(JoyBoy) + Roger(PirateKing)] [Bonus2: According to Wikipedia, it is sometimes claimed that the term "Jolly Roger" derives from Joli Rouge" ("Pretty Red"), and it totally fits Shanks]
That would totally reconceptualize the first chapter of One Piece. Instead of letting Luffy die and recovering the Gomu Gomu no Mi, he chooses Luffy as the inheritor of the "Jolly Roger will". If all of that is true, the reunion with Shanks after Wano is going to be quite different from what we're expecting.
The point is, in Oharas Theory, noone knew that Roger had the Gomu Gomu no mi because he ate it right before he died and never used it ... he just ate it because it was Joyboys Fruit, so the next User would inherite the will of Joyboy AND Roger. (Sry for my bad english :P )
One thing I always found interesting about the flash back during Skypeia was the Shandorians insisting that the souls of their ancestors lived in the trees that Noland cut down. I'm not sure if it is relevant or not but it always seemed like something that could be related to the devil fruits to me, especially when you factor in the Shandorans connections to the ancient kingdom.
I loved and agreed with everything up to the point where you got to the “Roger or Joyboy also had the Gomu2x no mi and so Luffy took on their wills etc” bit. Everything you used to prove that point can pretty much be summed as “Everything that ever made Luffy an interesting character was only because he got hungry and ate a fruit”. That doesn’t really sound like good character writing to me. And before anyone starts bashing me here I’m always in the camp that defends One Piece’s writing. I’m just saying there maybe some merit to this as long as it doesn’t reduce Luffy’s personality and character traits to “oh he got it all from that fruit”.
I do think that devil fruits are somewhat alive but It's weird for me when he said that when Luffy ate the fruit he then said about being the pirate king but Roger never said that he wants to be the pirate king instead he wants to turn the world upside down. The title was given to him by the people(or the world).
Well that could be said about the Will of D too, Luffy, Law, Roger, Ace, Saul and Rouge smiling in their death takes away from their personality if it was because of the Will of D. I think what Ohara meant here is that the personality remains the same but a few characteristics are passed down.
Well, couldn't agree more. Inherited will concept in one piece is really interesting, but pushing it too far will turn interesting characters into boring ones. For example chopper's inherited will is well made into the character. He now wants to do what the only person that cared and took care of him wanted to accomplish. Making it an inherited will. But turning this whole stuff into : "i ate the fruit bro" is really disappointing. If, for example, chopper inherited it by simply eating a devil fruit the character would have been lame. Come to think of it, most of the characters of the straw hats have inherited the will of others, one way or another.
I think Kaku is a really good example of devil fruits posessing a will as his personality is shown to change after he eats his devil fruit and he becomes much more rude towards everyone. He says he doesn’t understand why but he likes it. It could be the inherited will from his fruit, and the soul of its original owners Edit: he mentioned Kalifa too lmao
I like the inherited will theory a lot. That would make Shanks giving up his arm make a ton of sense, since he knew that luffy was now the man tasked with carrying on Roger and Joyboy’s will. I do feel like the one problem I have with this theory is that Rayleigh and Crocus would certainly have known about it and likely said something to luffy about it.
I'm not sure but atleast with Rayleigh I think he never really told much of his past to Luffy the same with all the other Roger crewmates the straw hats met on their journey.
When Luffy first meets Rayleigh, he tells him he knows everything, but Luffy wants to learn the truth by himself after finding the one piece because it's more fun this way
If Rayleigh was gonna say something about the devil fruit and the inherited will, he would also have to reveal the One Piece and the true history, and perhaps that's why he did not say anything.
To add to those what ifs: 1. What if these devil fruits are once poeple? 2. What if those people are the D clan? 3. What if joyboy is part of the D clan and turned into the gomu gomu no mi?
Maybe they were a part of bigger kingdom who is sworn enemy of the gods. I am sure i didn't see any of the celestial dragons having devil fruit abilities except doffy.
I really like this theory and it actually fits well with what Luffy said in chapter one. That he had become even happier by eating the fruit. Of couse it could just be Luffy’s normal goofy self talking but if it was meant as something literally then it could be a possible connection to joyboy.
The only problem I see is that Rodger eating the Gomu Gomu fruit so late into his adventure doesn't explain his personality for the 95% of the journey leading up to it. Most of the connections between Rodger and Luffy are made or implied to be based on his pre laugh tale adventures. How could he have that inherited will/personality of the fruit for the decades he spent as a pirate before he theoretically ate the fruit. Either he ate the fruit far sooner and just never used it/kept it secret, or far more likely, its related to the Will of D and not the fruit. Though the devils having consciousness and intelligence does make sense, I doubt it significantly alters their personality. Blackbeard wanting to be called Admiral makes total sense because he was just a crew member, and it was only AFTER he ate the fruit that he became a leader and so never had such an opportunity to be called Admiral beforehand. Most of the Ace examples can be perfectly explained by being Metaphorical. Kalifa using Soap Dramatically is just her testing out her powers and finally being allowed a little wiggle room to let her dramatic personality she normally suppresses to come through. Big Mom was Traumatized by Mother Carmel going missing and all she ever knew was "family" at the orphanage, so her personality becoming more twisted and indirectly learning from Mother Carmel and that "family" mentality is also realistic. In the end, rather than say the fruits are changing their personalities, I think its better to say the fruits are allowing them to bring out other aspects of their own personality that they previously could not for one reason or another. Kalifa being the prime example, she couldn't do that Dramatic reveal normally, but after obtaining the fruit she gained a way to do so which allowed her the chance to indulge herself. Most people will not act like a powerful person unless they actually are powerful after all. Eat a fruit and gain power, and suddenly you might act high and mighty, as was once pointed out in the story 'Logia' users who think they're invincible tend to have short lifespans.” - Pekoms, after defeating Caribou
It wouldn't matter when Roger ate the fruit as long as he ate it in the first place--this ensured that his will would carry on and meld with Luffys. Rogers entire personality and actions were his own--no devil fruit necessary. Luffy, on the other hand, said and did most of the same things Roger did which still adheres to the logic of the theory stated in the video
@@natenatenate10 But then what about the previous fruit eaters? Why didn't Luffy And Roger turn into them? The idea that the Gomu Gomu no mi was only ever eaten by Roger and Luffy, yet also was seemingly really important to the World Government despite virtually no one knowing Roger ate it is a pretty absurd idea. If it was sitting on Laugh Tale since the void century, there is no way the World Government would know anything about it or that it suddenly showed up in East Blue randomly hundreds of years later. The logic just doesn't hold up unless you stop way prematurely.
Okay, he doesn't necessarily have to have eaten the fruit before hand though, even if he ate it later in the story when he's close to his death, he is still passing on his own dreams and wills to the next user, as well as the inherited wills of the previous wielder, like Joyboy. It doesn't matter when he ate it, he is still passing on his entire life's will to the next user through the fruit when he dies.
@Ohara Great theory video! Only thing I wasn’t sure of is you mentioned Luffy saying he wants to be pirate king only after eating the fruit, but Roger never said he wanted to be a pirate king. He mentioned to Whitebeard that people started calling him that. It was the same conversation where he mentions people calling him “Gold” Roger instead of “Gol D. Roger”.
Because pirate king was not even a thing when Roger was setting out to sea, he was the first person who was called the Pirate King. Their goals are the same though. Luffy simply has a name for it now, which is the Pirate King, because that's what Roger went on to be known as.
I wouldn't entirely agree that devil fruit users abilities sleep when underwater, just look at Luffy being stretched at Arlong park to give him air and chopper not being reverted to an elk whenever he goes overboard
I couldn't tell you the number, but Oda did confirm in an SBS that the weakening effect is proportional to how much a devil fruit user is submerged in water.
I like how there seems to be some elements of the Berserker armor from Berserk going on with devil fruit awakenings. What I mean is that an awakening seems to make you a slave to your own ego. This would line up nicely with One Piece lore because the only awakenings we've ever actually witnessed were of villains, after they've been put into despiration mode and found that they had no choice but to surrender their will to their fruit. It would also explain why Kuzan and Sakazuki were about to go at it so long on Punk Hazard. Just some food for thought. Following this logic, Luffy's awakening may have indeed already happened. Since he has a pure spirit/soul, there'd be no darkness within himself to succumb to... other than the pain of loss and just general pain he's felt over his adventures. Perhaps a villain could provoke him enough about Ace's death to make Luffy go berserk? I mean, that's basically what happened in Dressrosa with Dofy baiting him with Ace's devil fruit. Again, just food for thought. This interests me.
"What if it was Joy Boy's fruit" Holy shit Ohara, you didn't exactly get the Roger part correct, at least we don't know yet, but holy shit the second part. You literally called it.
7:50: I agree Luffy can Rubberise/elastify the atmosphere directly around him. It’s how his G4 Punches are able to move direction in the Air. The punches are bouncing off the atmosphere according to Luffy’s will but Luffy is unaware as he has been training Haki the whole time slip. He most likely confused it with Haki.
@@RadicalPlasma if you look at his Python Punches in the Doflamingo fights there are small clouds/impact zones where his arm changes direction when he’s stretching. I think he’s rubberising the atmosphere around there and that’s causing the change in direction. …..how does one bounce something of itself anyway?
Our boy Ohara did it again. First of all, it sounds really in sync with everything. If the will is like a guide, and the person can choose whether or not to do it, then i am all with it.
The last line makes a lot of sense . And also that of Shank's act of giving the hat . Shanks saw his Captain personality in Luffy so he put the hat to where belonged.
Hot take: if Chopper ever needs a power up, his current monster form can be explained as a science forced awakening. That would open the door for the possibility of a natural awakening which could be stronger, or maybe just have a different ability than monster point
I feel like his natural awakening would be the same look as monster point, he would just have full control of himself and no time limit (and obviously not have to take the rumble balls)
I don't know. It would feel kinda weird that the Luffy we know is just acting this way because both Roger and Joyboy are influencing him in some way. It may not be as bad as Luffy being fated to be the pirate king but it is as close to a reincarnation as we get.
I like to think of one piece as what it is not a show called the strawhats the first chapter introduces roger with his death, luffy is introduced I wouldn’t put on the same pedestal naruto but we also don’t know about any one piece religions which might come from the void century and been destroyed. sengoku the Buddha fruit named it selve and told him. but how did the name come about did Buddhas exist
I don’t think it’s called influencing, its inherited will. One way or another, you’ll start having resemblance to your predecessors but you are a person of your own and you’ll surpass those before you. I mean, hasn’t it always been that way in one piece?
@@000ailily3 yeah but the way Ohara implied, it is more like the past person's personality melding into you. So, with his reasoning, Sabo acted the way he did because Ace's personality is now part of Sabo. Same goes for Luffy saying the same thing Roger did. It was not Luffy's own dream but it is because Roger influenced him through the devil fruit.
I think that if Joy Boy's and Roger's souls are in the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Luffy's soul is just like the perfect combination for them to allow for the formulation of the true Pirate King. Roger by himself wasn't enough, Joyboy wasn't able to complete his mission, but with Luffy's soul in the mix, it's a different story.
Honestly this is amazing ; and it makes sense why Laugh Tale was so funny. There was nothing they could do, and the will of the Joy Boy’s generation (JBG) are within the DF waiting for the timing and will of the original JB to be found. What’s interesting is that not one big player in Roger’s crew had a DF. … why wouldn’t they? Does Shanks know something we don’t, since he doesn’t have a DF? And the theory that Marijeouis is a building over the Tree of Eve - does BlackB want to overtake the fruits in some way?
That's a very interesting theory This could explain why certain characters supposedly changed like Wapol, from maybe normal king to a cruel one or how Buggy went "evil" after Roger's death
Luffy awakening is him making whatever he touches stretch or move like the extension of his body. Imagine him turning a whole forest into Gatling arms coated with haki. He can compress and pull the air like whitebeard's fruit but instead of affecting the plates he would be creating air currents.
When was it ever stated that DFs can only spawn in one type of fruit? Oda has explained before that they're categorized in the encyclopedia based on their swirl pattern, not fruit-type.
I think I’d be bummed if this is true, I feel like it would cheapen Luffy as a character if everything about him was directly from Roger. I love the concept of inherited will through inspiration or passed on legacy, like Roger inciting the great pirate era for example but if you make it some direct connection, soul transfer/reincarnation type of thing it starts to loose its appeal to me cough Naruto cough. I think you probably COULD make it work, or at least Oda could, if you did it right but I dunno.
I mean, you got to understand though, it isn't like their will just take over the character's body, is more like an overlapping personality and that I have no problem with and it would explain so much. Cavendish is not said to have eaten a devil fruit and it might be a poor example, but I feel like there is something similar to the situation with the Devil Fruit. Luffy has always had a strong personality and even though maybe he didn't want to be a "pirate king" per say, he probably had a mindset to be strongest person alive and the will of whoever devil Fruit that was just overlapped. It is not like it changed his personality, but maybe added more to it.
yes exactly, I would accept anything but this direct connection, I like the philosophy of "inherited will" as it is realistic even in our world and it makes sense. But the idea that a character is great character and he is motivated something because someone's will simply took over his body, simply makes his character into nothing.
Yeah if Roger had Gomu-Gomu fruit then it's not a plot-twist, but more like "huh, this again?". Like basically every single Shonen protagonist with their ability-that-passed-down-from-a-legend-that-died-before.
He kept his own personality he just got theit will according to this theory K believe that even if he didn’t get their will he would’ve still became a pirate cuz his personality didn’t change so he likes the. Same things
I believed the very first awakening fruit we ever seen (even if we didn't knew in that moment) was Crocodile's, the fact that he mention something like "you have to learn how to use the fully potential of the devil fruit" just before he turn the sorroundings into sand matches perfectly with the definition of awakening
This makes so much sense. Nice theory mate. Inherited will has always been a big part of the story and if after consuming a df some of the user's will is imprinted into/onto the devil that makes for a really compelling story that could literally span centuries playing out.
I always had that thought that Big mom and mother caramel’s souls got mixed together but this makes a lot more sense! Ohara has unlocked the next level of Advanced Observation Haki where he can see very far in the future lol
Ohara serious question here why does every1 diss miss that the items had a soul before the devil fruit was added too them and the biggest proof of this is zoros swords and the voice of all things and as we can tell zoros swords can understand human speach also but sense they lack free moment and speach they just can't communicate but we've seen them acting up multiple times like the recent chapter
Tbh I feel like devil fruits are those but with a stronger will... I guess like fruits with conqueror's haki (since haoshoku no haki is something that inflicts your will on to someone else to knock them out if their's is weaker similarly DFs might use their haoshoku no haki only after they're eaten by someone and then they can transfer their will to them....) I dunno I might just be talkin bullshit here... Or maybe a bit more analysis is needed....
@@jackiejackyjaqy but that doesn't effect my theory if df does or doesn't have a will and the strength of will doesn't matter either All the devil fruit does is give the item/weapon the ability too change its form Sense we don't openly have conversations with items with df the will transfer is kinda something in the air it can't be proven right or wrong
@@mattmalone9245 no I'm talking about if the devil fruits are like cursed objects just like the cursed swords kitetsu and all, DFs could be Objects that were cursed by a sea devil possessing them and whoever eats them gets a curse of never being able to swim in exchange for their abilities... And as we know that black swords are made after being used and wielded in a shit ton of matches and wins and imbueing them with your will/strength over time. It could be similar to the theory of how DF's get influenced and imbued with your will after once you've eaten them... I think haki is a lot more important in this than we thought since its basically like manifesting and using your mental strenght or will and use it as something inflict it on others or yourself or use it observe others or force yours onto someone else's as the three forms of haki we know....
I honestly think this theory is better than that Enies Lobby Done piece theory, this one ties so many things that make so much sense and is backed up by plenty of evidence from the show.
I always thought the secrets of devil fruits lied in Jabra’s explanation for why people couldn’t eat two way back in the Ernie’s Lobby arc. Ever since Doflamingo brought up Awakening, I’ve had the theory that a fruit’s power was awakened after your will overpowered the will of the devil that resides within it.
Rather than a 'devil' soul in the fruits what if the DFs are made from the souls of the ancient kingdom people. Either they made themselves DFs to escape the WG or the WG made them DFs as a way to get rid of them. Joy boys Soul might have been the one used to make the Gomu Gomu no Mi.
I was thinking like a “One for All” type of deal, where the original users of the fruit have part of their soul stored in the fruit and after an awakening those original users could help the current users understand their powers more.
The theory is amazing and very logical as it connects a lot of dots... But I have never actually thought that the Inherited Will (one of the most important central themes of One Piece) needs to have a vessel ( the devil fruits, as indicated in this video) to be passed down the generations... If devil fruits inherit the owner's will and passes them to someone new, say... Luffy... I feel like it somehow hinders the freedom and dreams of the new owner. Without freedom and the individual dreams of people being passed down like this, I feel like we are missing something, they simply dont remain the master of their own fate. I guess, I never actually imagined our Pirate King in this way. Its just how I feel by the way, I havent analyzed this in detail obviously.
I think it's possible that the devil fruits may allow the voice/dreams of the previous users to be subtlety carried over. I think this means a lot more to people who knew the previous user personally, and are aware that such a thing is possible - as for people who have no idea who the previous user is, and have no idea the Devil Fruits might work this way, will not be self aware of their sort of subtle personality changes. Kaku and Kalifa might have started to see things slightly differently, but whether or not they choose to let it influence their ideals is up to them. They are hardcore assassins, and whatever diversion of personality or will inherited by the fruits probably didn't change their overall stance on the world. Meanwhile, Luffy was already a headstrong, dim-witted, speaks his mind type, and inheriting the will of Joy Boy or anyone else with the Gum Gum fruit I think just went hand in hand with Luffy's personality already. The issue with Devil Fruits also passing on someone's "will" is that this is suppossed to be the point of the "D" clan - that THEIR will is passed down among their members. It would be kinda weird if will is passed down by both devil fruits and the "D" clan, unless these are like two oppossing wills, or two different methods of doing the same thing... both of which just seem messy for both to be true. The "D" clan may have been the ones that first used, or created, the Devil Fruits, and as such inherit the will to use their creations and fight Imu - who rules the world government. I do think that Void Century was about a time when the world had reached an apex, and were coming together - and did not need whatever "God" that Imu is, and in desperation believing that mankind either still needed him, or fear of being made irrelevant or did, he created the story that "devils", using powers found in the world through fruits (potentially creating these fruits in an effort to control the world and match the power of a so-called "God", to show they could already become gods, and do not need someone like Imu) and then attempted to kill the "gods". Of course, Imu's followers were down with the deception of the world, they became the "Gorosei" and created an easy to swallow narrative to help raise all of the nations in subservient and dependent state. Perhaps Imu being the sea-god and hating the tools of the Devils makes sense, as they all seem to be weak in the presence of the sea or seaprism stone. What doesn't make sense is why Devil Fruits, if they were made, would have this weakness by choice - unless Imu himself created the Devil Fruits, and they were stolen from him. However, these weaknesses were put in place by imu to ensure they could never be used against him, and so far its been successful - and many of the top marines all use Devil Fruits to actually defend Imu. I think its more likely that Imu (or some other similar god) created the Devil Fruits first, and the D clan stole them in an effort to kill them. The D Clan represents the "Devils" who betrayed God, and who must be erased - as they are the "true" evil to threaten god. The D Clan are direct descendants of those who opposed God - with God who acts as a metaphor for fate in the free-will/determinism theme.
Bro when I first looked at this comment I clicked on read more and then I laughed because u wrote an whole essay😂😂 then idk why I focusly read this whole thing without blinking😂😂
What if, in this theory, Roger already had a fruit before consuming the Rubber fruit? Roger's sickness was then the two Akuma no Mis clashing, the only reason he lasted so long being that he could talk with objects (talking with the devil) and because his Haki was pretty much impossible to surpass.
It is known already that roger didn't eat any devil fruit, he is just a very powerful haki user with a unique transcendence ability of "voice of all things"
I don't really like this theory, not because I think you explained it poorly or anything. You did a fantastic job. I just feel like it makes Luffy's adventure and drive not his own. The only reason he's doing anything is because the will of former Devil Fruit consumers is pushing him onto this path.
What if the “D” clan is special in a way that their wills are all intertwined regardless of devil fruits? I still believe that Luffy ate JoyBoys fruit (large straw hat, Luffys awakening potentially being gigantification, etc.) so roger might of not ate the fruit but maybe it’s the “D” clan themselves that are special.
I personally find it ok for devil fruits to take on the theme of inherited will. In small doses yes, but the Roger example through chapter 1 is quite odd. Luffy declared to be the pirate king out of wanting to surpass Shanks and his true dream he told sabo and ace. Sabo's line after attacking Burgess holds much more weight.
Shanks said Luffy said the exact same words Roger has said. And by that he didnt mean the pirate king thing. why? because we saw Luffy say "...." (it was cut off so we didnt hear or see it) the reaction to this from Ace and Sabo were the same reactions Oden and Whitebeard had when Roger said to them "...." (it wad also cut off so we couldnt see what he said either) what ever he said there was probably the thing which ensured Shanks that Luffy inherited Rogers will. And because its Oda he mastermindly set up this clue already 20 years ago because he unlike other Manga writers had planned the end of One Piece from the very beginning. The pirate king phrase was probably just another side aspect of the evidence Luffy inherited Rogers will.
i want to express a vexing feeling i have. first, based on another video i watched (i think it was on this channel) all these foreshadowings of the "one that rogers was expecting", the "one destined", the "one that will inherite the will" and so that luffy seems to trigger give the impression that one piece is falling into the trope of "the chosen one" that run counter to the series hidden message of freedom. if this theory holds some water then it can kinda bent or twist a little this "chosen one" trope, it would no longer be some fate that luffy was born into but more of a rabbit hole that he ended up into. this theory does seem to align with these "will" dog whistles, but... , how do the smiles fit into this? how can the akuma no mis be, in theory, manufactured? ... actually, you said that you disliked the idea roger having eaten the fruit, and then you suggested that he consumed the same fruit which would have been joy boy's fruit aswell, although in another video was suggested that joy boy had the ope ope no mi, then highlighted roger's "i will never die" scene. it might because oda conviniently omitted it but, roger although powerful did not seem to have any akuma no mi power in his fight with white beard and oden or in any other moment in the flashbacks. therefore, did roger really HAD an akuma no mi? have you done a video theorizing how akuma no mis begin?
i guess we will see whos right when one piece ends. At this point theres so many things that can or/and will happen that theres no conclusive way of putting it all together. You can go on and on about little plot points that make and break a theory. Some of them will be right, others not because some details were missed or missunderstood. And honestly, the gomu gomu being on laugh tale when roger arived is not even that unlikely if it truly was joy boys fruit and this theory holds true. Only time will tell the answer to these kind of theorys.
I want to add something to this theory: The fruit is named after the first person to eat it. That's why Lady Toki's fruit is named Toki Toki no Mi - she was born a long time ago, so it's possible she was the first to eat that fruit.
I wonder that if this theory would be true with the devils in the fruit taking over the hosts 'will', that there might be a time where we see Luffy try overcoming such an obstacle (like saving his crew from death or if Sabo IS captured and about to be killed) that he overshadows the will of his devil and actually is able to swim just so he can save his friends/family.
This theory reminds me of the fight between brook and big mom. Big mom's power didn't work on brook because brook's devil fruit is attached to brook's soul and it cannot be severed. So brook's devil fruit is stronger than many other devil fruits.
The Brothers Arc(young ace, young sabo, young luffy) showed me that Luffy turns a "lame power " (lame-according to a young Ace) into a great one. If the gomugomu fruit is connected with Joyboy/Roger, it would ruin the effort of Luffy.
STOONK, I believe this Theory is True. Since I read those Scene where Sabo Said Those Lines, I started to believe that Every Devil Fruits will inherit some of the weilder personality or characteristic. Just think about this, How come Sabo Know that Ace said he didnt Forgive Burgess or Blackbeard. How Come he Know it. Then, I also feel that Ace Tendency to Protect The Ones he Cares So Much is Inherited to Sabo. We can see this proven with Kuma situation. I do believe Old Sabo will help Kuma but He wont foresake the Revolution Ultimate Goal for it. What he did is what Ace would do if he is in Sabo position. I think Sabo become more Reckless after Eating Mera Mera no Mi if it is related to someone he care so much. I thank you so much for connected the red strings together. Now I can sleep peacefully.
You made my coffee spill 🥲 I was just drinking coffee in this cold winter and hearing you explanations but the shock the explanations gave me made my coffee spill 😅
Personally, my biggest problem with this theory is that it doesn't really factor in what Will is in the One Piece world. I think Hiruluk's words were more what the narrative is going for where it's the memory of people that keep them alive. The reason someone like Chopper is a doctor isn't because the fruit made them gain a doctor's personality, it's because of the people around them that gave him the inspiration and drive. Buggy didn't become his cowardly and emotional self after eating the fruit, in fact those traits are what got him stuck with the fruit in the first place. Where I do believe there is a devil in each fruit, I don't think it extends to the drive and force of characters. Shanks, willing or not did form Luffy's ideal image of a pirate king, and his childhood definitely showed he would go beyond anything to prove himself, (Such as stabbing himself in the eye). If the devils did wake up in the story, I feel it's probably closer to moments like Luffy's anger rather than full personas. As for the rubber fruit, there's one thing about it I think people are forgetting. Rubber is artificial. There's a reason Skypiea never knew what it was. In fact, the paramecia seem to have a lot of fruits that feel more modern in technology of that world. I think that aspect of the paramecia fruits might be a big reason why Luffy's fruit is special. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the paramecia fruits are the most common in the story, right? If these fruits are appearing more often, then it could explain why they seem so commonplace in comparison to Roger's time.
I think, devil fruits and haki are a sub-part of one giant power system... If you go with many people's theory of there being a elemental haki ( and paramecia is like jojo's power system, their will is made into a power, it would fit oda's choice of matching people's attitude with their devil fruit.. And zoans are pretty understandable )... And with that, I think they both are same but the devil fruit forces the power out of you, specifically logia. It's essentially, you can make whatever power you want into reality with your will... And your soul is the key to it.
This actually connects with your Blackbeard video. He would have 3 souls/wills now. His own, whitebeards after eating his DF and the previous Darkness DF users will as well. Could this be it!?
"Inherited will" is essentially the devil of the fruits memories of it's pervious users. Seeing as how they are bound directly to the users souls they can remember every thought, emotion and personality trait of their previous users and influence/alter the personality of the new user.
While this whole inherited will via Devil Fruits is interesting, the problem is why would it be the previous persons will is inherited? The fruits had to exist for centuries, the will of someone from the Void Century should be the one inherited no? After all, your explanation says that the will kidna overwrites the personality of the new user, like the comparison to the Kurozumi users, but that doesnt make sense, why were their wills not overwritten? Or if they were, they can be traced further back, so every fruit user we see has a certain personality but its not the will of the previous user, but hundreds of those that came before, at most we can make it an amalgamation, but then we gotta argue that the latest user has the predominant trates with hints of the past, or that there is a dominant subconsciousness that can be overwritten by a stronger will, for example by someone who has Conquerors Haki, aka stronger willpower....this makes sense as Sabo inherits the will of Ace who is a confirmed conqueror, while Sabo is not. In the case of non conqueror inheriting a non conquerors will it could be much simpler, but again there are too many variables

Yeah Devil fruit have so many variety, even Queen can highly modif his zoan form even can become snake is truly wtf

If you are here after chapter 1044, then this theory came true. Ohara you're a goddamn genuis!
wow
Sanji suddenly kick a woman and get more fire on his body.
so do the Ds get extra benefits from the DFs because they carry the blood and the inherented will from the original creators?

That's why One Piece's world building is held in such a high regard in my opinion. Most other manga and anime require you to actually care about the series a lot, while also having most of this information in content outside of the main series like movies and guidebooks. One Piece does more than just get you invested in characters, it gets you invested in it's world. You are interested in seeing what happens in the world of One Piece just as much as you are for the characters.

I completely agree
I see it like the fruit like a puzzle piece how big this puzzle is to complete for the character i dont know but it may influence :)

It could be the inherited will from his fruit, and the soul of its original owners
Edit: he mentioned Kalifa too lmao
I like the inherited will theory a lot. That would make Shanks giving up his arm make a ton of sense, since he knew that luffy was now the man tasked with carrying on Roger and Joyboy’s will. I do feel like the one problem I have with this theory is that Rayleigh and Crocus would certainly have known about it and likely said something to luffy about it.
They could have been told not to tell anyone, and thus the secret remains with the crew.
I'm not sure but atleast with Rayleigh I think he never really told much of his past to Luffy the same with all the other Roger crewmates the straw hats met on their journey.
"By the way youre enslaved to fullfill rogers destiny as a meat puppet he spectates the world from"
"Nani?"
"What?"

Eat a fruit and gain power, and suddenly you might act high and mighty, as was once pointed out in the story
'Logia' users who think they're invincible tend to have short lifespans.”
- Pekoms, after defeating Caribou

Roger*

Luffy can Rubberise/elastify the atmosphere directly around him.
It’s how his G4 Punches are able to move direction in the Air.
The punches are bouncing off the atmosphere according to Luffy’s will but Luffy is unaware as he has been training Haki the whole time slip.
He most likely confused it with Haki.
I always thought that he was essentially hardening with haki, thus bouncing the fist off itself... at Katakuri

As a fellow devil fruit myself, I can confirm this is true

Great video and theory!!! Love your channel and this just shows how good it can be!!!
That's a very interesting theory
This could explain why certain characters supposedly changed like Wapol, from maybe normal king to a cruel one or how Buggy went "evil" after Roger's death
Luffy awakening is him making whatever he touches stretch or move like the extension of his body. Imagine him turning a whole forest into Gatling arms coated with haki. He can compress and pull the air like whitebeard's fruit but instead of affecting the plates he would be creating air currents.
Buggy's devil fruit awakening could slice the whole world into half
When was it ever stated that DFs can only spawn in one type of fruit? Oda has explained before that they're categorized in the encyclopedia based on their swirl pattern, not fruit-type.
His theories always amaze me
Great content as always!
Meanwhile ODA to his editor: Great Theory, write it down !
Big agree, my exact problem with this theory.
Another theory that proved to be true
Or maybe a bit more analysis is needed....
why would a sword art spandam's hand have a soul, if I was a sword art his hand I'd just die
Ties in with shinto mythology too apparently inanimate objects have spirit's in them and that's part of Japanese obsession with robots.
@@jackiejackyjaqy but that doesn't effect my theory if df does or doesn't have a will and the strength of will doesn't matter either
All the devil fruit does is give the item/weapon the ability too change its form
Sense we don't openly have conversations with items with df the will transfer is kinda something in the air it can't be proven right or wrong
@@mattmalone9245 no I'm talking about if the devil fruits are like cursed objects just like the cursed swords kitetsu and all, DFs could be
Objects that were cursed by a sea devil possessing them and whoever eats them gets a curse of never being able to swim in exchange for their abilities...
"There resides a devil inside every fruit..." Seems like Blue Dragon will be happening hakhak

Its just how I feel by the way, I havent analyzed this in detail obviously.
yeah I'm you in that, the whole point of one piece is being free and this theory is basically Luffy being possessed by Roger mind wth

What if, in this theory, Roger already had a fruit before consuming the Rubber fruit? Roger's sickness was then the two Akuma no Mis clashing, the only reason he lasted so long being that he could talk with objects (talking with the devil) and because his Haki was pretty much impossible to surpass.

I don't really like this theory, not because I think you explained it poorly or anything. You did a fantastic job. I just feel like it makes Luffy's adventure and drive not his own. The only reason he's doing anything is because the will of former Devil Fruit consumers is pushing him onto this path.
Yea mann it changed my whole view on luffy
Wow this is such a good theory, and a short one too! I love your longer vids but shorter is preferable to me at least, thanks for the vids bro!
Nailed it with the joy boy stuff
And by that he didnt mean the pirate king thing. why? because we saw Luffy say "...." (it was cut off so we didnt hear or see it) the reaction to this from Ace and Sabo were the same reactions Oden and Whitebeard had when Roger said to them "...." (it wad also cut off so we couldnt see what he said either)
what ever he said there was probably the thing which ensured Shanks that Luffy inherited Rogers will.
And because its Oda he mastermindly set up this clue already 20 years ago because he unlike other Manga writers had planned the end of One Piece from the very beginning.
The pirate king phrase was probably just another side aspect of the evidence Luffy inherited Rogers will.

Man your videos are so good they really suck me into your content and I feel so engaged!
I've felt a goosebumps at the last part of your video. Thank you!
i want to express a vexing feeling i have. first, based on another video i watched (i think it was on this channel) all these foreshadowings of the "one that rogers was expecting", the "one destined", the "one that will inherite the will" and so that luffy seems to trigger give the impression that one piece is falling into the trope of "the chosen one" that run counter to the series hidden message of freedom. if this theory holds some water then it can kinda bent or twist a little this "chosen one" trope, it would no longer be some fate that luffy was born into but more of a rabbit hole that he ended up into.
this theory does seem to align with these "will" dog whistles, but... , how do the smiles fit into this? how can the akuma no mis be, in theory, manufactured? ... actually, you said that you disliked the idea roger having eaten the fruit, and then you suggested that he consumed the same fruit which would have been joy boy's fruit aswell, although in another video was suggested that joy boy had the ope ope no mi, then highlighted roger's "i will never die" scene. it might because oda conviniently omitted it but, roger although powerful did not seem to have any akuma no mi power in his fight with white beard and oden or in any other moment in the flashbacks.
therefore, did roger really HAD an akuma no mi? have you done a video theorizing how akuma no mis begin?
i guess we will see whos right when one piece ends.
@NX * yes, I know, just like Gomu means rubber. But I wouldn't put it past Oda to create something like this, even so
I wonder that if this theory would be true with the devils in the fruit taking over the hosts 'will', that there might be a time where we see Luffy try overcoming such an obstacle (like saving his crew from death or if Sabo IS captured and about to be killed) that he overshadows the will of his devil and actually is able to swim just so he can save his friends/family.
Holy mother of fruit. I was having chills while watching your vid. Amazing content brother.
Thank you for always being consistent and being respectful
Great work, as always. So glad you talked about "Haki de l'armement" haha. Cheers from France!
You made my coffee spill 🥲
I was just drinking coffee in this cold winter and hearing you explanations but the shock the explanations gave me made my coffee spill 😅
I heavily dislike this theory.
It takes so much away from the series where Luffy's motivation wouldn't be his own at all.
You just gained yourself a subscriber man, that was well put together
Imagine someone having water water fruit and can create water at his/her own will
This actually connects with your Blackbeard video. He would have 3 souls/wills now. His own, whitebeards after eating his DF and the previous Darkness DF users will as well. Could this be it!?
The idea that Teach would actually inherit Whitebeard's will is disgusting, though.
@@italotrivisan9767 What teach did was disgusting so it would fit. I like this
"Inherited will" is essentially the devil of the fruits memories of it's pervious users.
