Blackbeard's speech on _"People Dreams Never Die"_ that's hits even more now considering the man can LITERALLY not sleep. The dude been planning crazy things when he started his journey and now he slowly pulled it off.

- His impel down riot forced Magellan to release Shiryu which saved him and his crew
- Defeating Doflamingo ultimately helped the Blackbeard crew find Baltigo and steal all of the revolutionary army weapons

Best Theory: Blackbeard has the condition 'Fetus in fetu' (real life condition); He was born with his triplet brothers inside of him (look up Sanju Bhagat). He is a pregnant man that eats, drinks and breaths for his brothers living inside of him. When he ate his second devil fruit, it was digested and its power gained by his brother living inside of him. And because they share the same body, Blackbeard can use it.
Look at a picture of 'Sanju Bhagat', he has a massive belly and very skinny arms and legs and has a strong jaw-line, exactly like Blackbeard. Both of them are not fat anywhere except their belly. BB always has his belly on show also.
The story came out around 1998, and was a big Story in Asia. I'm sure Oda would have heard of the guy and thought to himself, what if both 'Sanju Bhagat' and his brother inside of him both had Devil Fruits? Thus he created Blackbeard.
Confirms when Zoro says 'them' instead of 'him', when Marco says he has a weird body, and justifies the three skulls on his Jolly Roger.

To me, knowing Blackbeard doesn't sleep and the Cavendish case where another consciousness or possessed soul comes out when the counterpart sleeps, I feel like it's the same thing.
What if the possessed soul is Xebec? Maybe that’s the reason why he can use two devil fruits.
So a case of multiple personalities. However that doesn't explain the teeth and hands being different which made me think it has to be identical brothers. But then again, why would he not sleep? Maybe it's a red herring that is important in a different way.

We use the term "orchestrate" much differently.. I don't think Black Beard orchestrated much at all, he was just an opportunist that followed his luck and the doors that opened. Compared to someone like Law or doflamingo who actively and painstakingly planned things out. Blackbeard really is similar to Luffy in that he has exceptional luck.
Imagine Blackbeard shows up after Kaido is defeated to steal kaido’s zoan fruit and literally ends up with one of the strongest in each category 🤯

i really do like the idea that multiple people/souls lives within him cause it will explains a lot , how he could eat multiple DF, why he doesn’t sleep, personality changes, and this is already been shown in one piece in the case of Cavendish
I think black beard is 3 brothers due to a Completely Separate devil fruit power, definitely when he was younger of course, but there's no other explanation for his ability to use his body like that.

The three brother thing would also strengthen his role as a mirror of Luffy for obvious reasons, though they may contrast in Blackbeard and his brother's only loving eachother because they're related by blood and not really having any sort of true bond, where Luffy forged a bond with brothers he had no blood relation to whatsoever.
I once joked about blackbeard being 3 guys in a trenchcoat because he carries 3 guns around. Either that or he has mastered the 3 gun style. (he uses his tounge to fire the one in his mouth)

Another big difference is Blackbeard absolutely fears death, while Luffy has smiled at it.

If the three Blackbeards theory is true then it's possible that not all of them actually carry the Will of D. This could explain some of the inconsistencies regarding his similarities with other Ds. We only see Blackbeard face death after he got the Yami-Yami fruit and so if he takes on the attributes of people he absorbs then it's entirely possible that his 'fear in the face of death' wasn't his but rather the people inside of him fearing death.

I love how Oda faces off antagonists without tossing it to your face. Even characters themselves are not really involved to a rivalry yet. It just left for a reader to figure.
Blackbeard could also have very very severe multiple personality disorder which is so bad it applies actual physical changes to his body and makes him be considered 3 different people which in turn could explain why he can eat 2 or even 3 devil fruits because its like 1 fruit for each personality
But thats just my theory on it, there is a character in a different series that actually has that quirk so maybe it could be possible for blackbeard, it makes a lot of sense imo, a bit too much

Another part where Luffy and Teach are shown to be complete opposites is how their devil fruits affect their sense of pain. It is stated early in the series that Luffy doesn’t feel pain because he is rubber (queue every moment where he totally feels pain without being hit with haki). Teach, on the other hand, states he actually feels MORE pain due to his abilities. Which, honestly, you have to give him props for tanking the hits he has when he feels so much pain.
I love how all these theories just makes that fact luffys just stumbling into being called the fifth more amazing
Blackbeard was supposed to have a family according to sketches drawn by Oda, specifically 2 younger sisters. I’m guessing that the 2 other souls that are always mentioned in relation to him are his sisters, as his flag composes of 3 skulls, one bigger one in the middle, and 2 smaller ones (1 on either side).
My guess is they’re smaller because they died really young, and/or fused with him somehow at their younger age.

What if Blackbeard already has 3 devil fruits, and the first one he had is the zoan? Let me explain, i think Blackbeard might have the *cerberus* mythological zoan. It'd make so much sense for many reasons: first of all cerberus has 3 heads, and 4 legs. The bones shown in jolly rogers are usually femurs (long leg bone) , so if we take Blackbeard's flag, we can actually see that there are 4 bones (not 8, 8 are the number of ends) crossed, and 3 skulls, just the same amount of skulls and long leg bones of cerberus.
Second of all cerberus is the guardian of the underworld. If we suppose Laugh Tale is actually where people go when they die (like you theorized), that'd actually be teasing the battle between Blackbeard and Luffy in (or just before) Laugh Tale.
Last but not least, maybe the cerberus devil fruit has a special power that grants the user the ability to possess 3 devil fruits, since cerberus is actually 3 living beings in one body, and that would explain why Blackbeard has the yami yami, the gura gura, and potentially the cerberus one. And also that FOR SURE would mean the cerberus fruit is the strongest zoan.
And you might say: then Orochi's devil fruit is stronger bc he has more heads. He does have more heads, however, i think his design when transformed is intentional. Why would Oda bother to make a head different than the others? That means it's actually that head that matters. Also Kaido beheaded him and he immediately died, somethin i think wouldnt happen to Blackbeard, he would still have 2 lives left. And ofc Blackbeard has a multiple personality disorder due to his devil fruit and Orochi doesnt seem to have one.

Geez... Information that octopuses have 40 seconds naps is fake. Their active phase of sleep lasts 40 seconds (when they sleep and move), but if including other phases, they sleep for almost hour at once and during a day, they sleep for about 16 hours which is much longer than typical human and that's why this theory about kraken fruit and short sleeps makes no sense.

I also have a theory about why Blackbeard was able to eat 2 devil fruits:
Imagine blackbeard is born and he has a brother in him that is inside his body unable to move like just a mouth and eyes around his back that would explain why he was able to eat 2 df cause they are 2 different people . I have proof about this = remember when Marco said that his body is built different I think he might have been the only one to have seen his back ,that is why blackbeard put the black cloth on whitebeard. As Ohara said that some times he uses gura gura no mi from right and sometimes from left but in marineford he used the claw move of white beard that turns stuff upside down with his both hands . I wonder if this prediction is right if it is I will be shocked .

There are drafts of BB having 2 sisters, not hard to find. He absorbed his sisters souls and then can have 3 devil fruits.

I think, Blackbeard was able to consume more than one Devil Fruit, because they're different types. It's likely in that universe, that you can't consume two fruits of the same type. That'll kill you. No two Logia, no two Paramecia, no two Zoan. But mix them up and you're fine.
Nobody ever stated, that the consumed fruits of the dead person were the same or different types.

I’ve always considered blackbeard being three people, but the theory I believe is that the basis to a devil fruit within the user’s body lies in the heart, and so to gain a person’a devil fruit before it goes back into circulation, you need to eat their heart. This supports the theory that linlin ate mother carmel, because she mysteriously gained her df power. So perhaps teach had always had some sort of octopus mythical zoan like a leviathan or kraken, and could store three devil fruits in his body because octopi have three hearts?

I could see Blackbeard getting Orochis fruit because he would have more lives, know how to use the fruit in more ways than Orochi, and all three of his personalities could come out at the same time! Also, he could never get a third fruit and bypass weakness to seawater somehow

the main problem i see here is the question: where were his brothers before he got the yami yami? nobody references them so they weren't on the crew, were they just hanging out somewhere waiting for blackbeard to get the fruit? that just doesnt seem right to me.

Maybe blackbeard is an Ancient Giant, and has the ability to switch up his appearances, thus the need for his crew to cover him up while he eat the fruit. this could possibly explain the different personalities within him, and why luffy and zoro mentioned that blackbeard was a "they"

I have a problem with the theory : How does he manages to hide his two other brothers on Whitebear ship when he was young? And Whitebear or Roger who saw him young would have noticed it with their level of Haki. For me it is something different that Oda will explain us

I always just thought the "it's not he, it's them" was just referring to the fact that BB isn't alone, that he has a crew with him. That part of the Jaya arc shows the various members of his crew acting independently without it being clearly stated that they're a crew - but then at one point is reveals that they're all working together. My personal theory to do with BB is to do with the three skulls thing being seen in two other places - on Oars and Oars Jr. They both also have three skulls worn on their body in a row, exactly the same as BB's flag. Perhaps the three skull thing is an ancient giant symbol and BB is related to the ancient giants. People being giants is obviously a big thing in OP, whether it be Elbaf's repeated mentions, the giant gate by Enies Lobby, Luffy turning into a giant in G5 and that activating the giant ancient robot, the giant horned skull of Onigashima... Well there's a lot of reference and significance to giants. Perhaps giants could eat multiple devil fruit and be okay but that's been forgotten about so they don't do it, assuming the "1 fruit per person" rule also applies to them, but BB knows about it in the same way he's a rare person that knows about Xebec.

Another theory: the third devil fruit target for Blackbeard is the devil fruit of law to make himself immortal. Maybe a bit far too stretched because he would have to awaken it first, right?
Would also be a good parallel: while luffy would literally risk everything to save his brother, Blackbeard would have no problem sacrificing one for his own profit. Would also make a quite dramatic point I think to loose law in the story, or at least have him at risk. He does know all devil fruits, and being immortal would basically mean the eternal pirate king.
I got an interesting set of theories for you now that ties into this one: Blackbeard isn't actually stealing fruits, he's just killing pirates that have devil fruits and his crew carries fruits with them so the fruits reincarnate into the nearest fruit. We saw Burgess carrying a big basket of fruit on Dressarosa.
Why does this tie into your theory?
Back to your two sides of the same coin theory, Luffy and his crew are doing the same thing without realizing it. On Punkhazard we see a devil fruit reincarnate into a normal fruit for the first time after Smiley dies, it reincarnating into an apple. In the same arc we see Monet killed, and she has a snowbunny attack.
In chapter 700 when the Sunny is leaving to Dressarosa they're seen sailing on waves that look just like the snowbunnies made by Monet's fruit. That WOULD be coincidence but 3 things:
1. Nami has an orange tree full of fruits that she doesn't let anyone touch. If the fruit were to reincarnate it may have reincarnated on the ship and the bunnies were foreshadowing.
2. Oda was asked about said bunnies but completely ignored it on purpose while responding to the post:

Notice how Oda said Luffy would die from a single bite? Something that also happens if a devil fruit user eats another devil fruit? He also said said "Cold" and "brrrr" at the end, hinting at Monet's fruit subtly.
If the Sunny and Nami's orange trees collecting devil fruits inadvertently theory is true, and Blackbeard collecting fruits on purpose the same way is true, it'd tie greatly into your fate vs planning two sides of the same coin analysis. They're both collecting devil fruits into normal fruits.

There is already an encylopedia of devil fruits which means certain fruits have repeatedly existed. This implies that the fruit catalogue specifies what the fruit look. So your theory will fall already as Nami s oranges cannot all receive different dfs.

The Monet theory is old yes, but this isn't just about that theory. It's a tie in of two theories (BB's crew carrying bags of fruits to turn into devil fruits when users are killed/Nami's tree collecting DF , specifically Monet's) with the video's analysis of Luffy's luck vs. Blackbeard's planning and the two being opposite sides of the same coin. The Monet's fruit being on the Sunny theory just holds the entire thing together.

I also have theory, about Blackbeard's power. Doctor Vegapunk who is a genius that could create
artificial devil fruits, was tinkering with souls. Blackbeard happened to be a test subject as a child,
which led him to have the souls of three, and displays the personalities of each one at different times.
Maybe each soul is able to handle a single devil at a time, which is why Blackbeard is able to handle 3.
There's another theory that's pretty similar to this one, let's call it the "Blackbeard Chimera Theory". It's stated by two videos made by the channels Sylvanes and Monkey D. Business. They state that Blackbeard has a genetic condition called Tayloy Muhl condition which happens when a fetus absorbs their genetic twin in the womb and ends up carrying said twins genetic code inside them. This may imply that Blackbeard absorbed one, or more likely two twins in the womb and now has three sets of DNA inside him.
Now the question is: How does this make him able to have more than one devil fruit power? It is theorized by many OP fans that one's devil fruit powers are contained not in the soul but inside their DNA/genetic code, which is why when Law swapped Smoker's and Sword lady's bodies whith each others Smoker's powers remained in his body. So if Blackbeard has three sets of DNA then that gives him the rare capability to hold three DF powers in his body.
I've read three-bodies-Teach theory long ago and at first I thought it was yami-yami power, but from the Oden flashback his body has already been special. This is just my theory, I think 1 of them ate devil fruit that merge bodies, and 'they' join Whitebeard to wait oportunities to get strong devil fruit for the other 2.
This is highly plausible when we compare Brooks fruit which gave him a second Life

You seem to be implying that Rocks “died”, for all we know, Rocks fused with Teach. Actually Teach was shown to not be able to sleep ever since he was little way before he ate the Yami Yami no mi, also Marco implies that Teach can have more than one devil fruit because of his “bizarre body”.
Oda himself has pretty heavily implied Rocks died as well, with many characters on his crew speaking of him like he's dead. There's no reason to believe they "fused" in a series where fusion has never even remotely been hinted at as possible.

Can we talk about how Brûlée has the most broken devil fruit and big mom doesn’t utilize it. Why take a ship to Wano when Brûlée could have walked them through a mirror. Big mom could send her entire family and army through each mirror and label them and use them for world domination. Brûlée would be my biggest asset.

The theory is that Teach got his DF and then was joined by his brothers, who were then absorbed into Teach using the Yami Yami no mi to keep them in hiding. He is able to use it to pull parts of them out or completely swap positions/bodies. He used this ability to swap places with one of his brothers in order to let eat Whitebeard's DF. So its not that Blackbeard ate 2 devil fruits. It's that there are 3 brothers sharing space within the same body, with 2 of them always in hiding thanks to the first DF, the Yami Yami no mi. This is plausible as it fits his theme of being tied to Rocks and the number 3.
A question I still have is how does this fit with what Marco said about Teach's body being different? Marco would have noticed/learned that as Blackbeard's doctor and crew mate before BB betrayed them. Something was already different about Blackbeard from day 1. This theory would work better for me if it would connect that dot.

I think it's entirely possible that the two brothers were always with him inside his body and they were all biding their time waiting for the yami yami no mi; as that fruit would allow him to switch out with his brothers and thus gain access to other devil fruits. Marco being the doctor would have recognised something strange with his body prior to eating the Yami Yami no mi, but likely didn't know exactly what was up; maybe he saw other body organs or another heart, etc. but wasn't able to connect the dots. Just an idea I guess

Marco is probably referring to his sleep patterns. He left his 2 brothers to find the dark dark fruit then he comes back to execute phase 2.

Definitely one of the best BB theories I’ve seen. Oda seems consistent with things like teeth so the fact we see him with 3 different sets makes this a very believable theory. I still prefer the Cerberus theory for fun but this is definitely the most likely one. Having two brothers would also explain why BB was all over the place and so hard to track down.

My personal theory, that I made the first time (so much time is passed ... sigh!) is that Teach has a vestigial twin in his body, or more that one.
I had this idea because some years before I read a short manga (5 little volumes) called Basilisk. In this story the main antagonist is Tenzen the immortal, so called because he has (but none knows) a vestigial twin, that heal himself from the inside every time he receive a mortal blow or he die.
This to me was an explanation for the "they" of Jaya, the extreme endurance, the double life quote, the never-sleep reference and finally the second (or maybe third) hearts to stare a devil power.
So this theory of the Yami Yami used to "store" the second and third twin is interesting, but to me it cannot work as a good battle power.
Having a normal twin is good for being in different places at the same time, like in "The Prestige" film. But if you have a twin that is in your very same place, what is the exploit into a battle system.
And if he has a second, or even a third, body to explotlit why has Shiriu asked him that phrase before stealing the Gura Gura?
After years I think that my theory fits better that the others, and however, the 3 number is only related to the skulls, but he doesn't appear to fits any of his actions.
An additional flaw of this theory is the attempt in forcing the 3 number. Except for the Flag, and the 3 guns (that to me don't have a specific reference), I don't see any other reference.
The three skulls can reference everything, starting from a divine Trinity, the 3 ancestral weapons, the 3 moon races, or probably something that we don't knows, maybe the 3 heads of 3 ... beheaded Yonkos that betrayed Xebec!

There is one point I am wondering about, during Oden`s Flashback, it was told that Blackbeard never sleeps. The only upside of marco's df is you can last longer on a fight reason why he is keeping up with kizaru and both king and queen, the downside is that it don't have the offensive power like kaido. BB already knew Luffy, Law, Kid, etc were at wano trying to pick a fight with Kaido, for him to know that the world govermente is going there and deduce would be very easy, he may have informants in many places and many of his ships just wander around. In that case BB could very well either want the wano poneyglyph, Robin or even wano itself, since we know that Kaido choose to stay at wano for a reason so that palce is probably very important somehow.
Of course he may be going to some other place, but almost all the world goverment forces were going after the warlords, so if he is not going to wano he is probably going to some place they are. There are many possibilities, but i think wano is the best guess.
I've always felt the triplets theory was accurate, but I feel the line about "he" vs "they" is misinterpreted. To me that line was Luffy and Zoro acknowledging that Blackbeard's crew was around. They could feel that he was a man in charge and had seen other strange people with similar menacing auras all around Jaya.

I agree the inversions are striking and would make an even stronger thematic opposite to Luffy. Blackbeard having three blood bound siblings while Luffy has three oath bound siblings. The Blackbeard siblings being hidden in shadow, represented by his darkness fruit, and Luffy's shinning like brilliant suns, represented by the flame fruit. Blackbeard being united to his siblings while Luffy if separated from them. Even the fact that nobody knew that Luffy had oath bound siblings could be a parallel to nobody knowing that Teech has two brothers. (I also posted this a response to Deezz Nutzz who noticed the same thing)
I actually had an uncommon theory for BB on how he was able to have multiple DF.. Just like how Charlotte Linlin got her DF by eating Mother Caramel's alive, BB ate something of WB (possibly his heart) and thus inherit his DF without the repercussions.. BM did drown in Wano but it was never clear whether she didn't die because she's a Yonko or she just didn't drown because of the limited repercussions of someone obtaining a DF this wa, possibly because not eating the fruit directly but through a person's body.. This technique is simply not well known because, well how many cannibals have you seen in OP universe? But this technique if easily replicable by anyone who actually seen and knows how to do it thus he only share it with his crews..

I really like the idea of him having a Zoan which gives him three hearts, thus three “souls”. This allows him to eat more than one devil fruit and would explain why he didn’t immediately die after eating WB’s fruit.

Nice theory! Although I do have another idea about who really is rocks' son: it's shanks and not blackbeard. See shanks went to the world government to talk to them about a certain person, everyone in the community started speculating that it might be luffy or even xebec himself. But who he really wanted to talk about was blackbeard, the man that is so influenced by xebec that shanks sees him as the biggest threat to the world. Shanks was raised by Roger and his crew as in one of the oden flashback chapters, I think it was reighley who states that it has been so long since they've had children with them on the ship, implying that it could have very well been shanks who was one of those children. Now shanks being raised by the pirate king and heavily influenced by him, it led to him carrying on his will and wanting to pass it on to someone worthy (luffy). Now a direct comparison to how shanks was raised by the pirate king while he was the child of xebec and him becoming so fascinated with Roger, would he none other than ace who was Roger's son but who became the adopted son of whitebeard. Also it's important to note that ace never wanted to be the pirate king's son, he did not want that legacy and that is why he gave his everything for whitebeard, so as a parallel shanks would have to reject everything about his father xebec and would be wary of people who are influenced by xebec. It's like a theme between these great pirates, literally adopting and influencing the sons of other great pirates. That is why I truly believe that shanks is xebec's son and he is so worried about blackbeard trying to accomplish what his father could not that he went to the world government to tell them about it all. Blackbeard being xebec's son would not follow the theme that oda set up with ace, Roger and whitebeard!

Maybe Blackbeard won’t get the strongest zoan fruit but a zoan that has the potential to be incredibly strong which is Orochi’s fruit. It would give him 8 other heads matching the 8 bones around his head on his flag. It’s also a snake fruit which would match Blackbeard’s character of being a snake in the way he achieved most of his goals. Orochi may have used the power in a pretty stupid way but in Teach’s hands it could basically become an multi-headed Kaido that could survive even decapitation

I believe Rocks ate the moon fruit which gave him another personality as it was influencing him or took over the original. Before rocks died he took over Blackbeard and now he technically has 3 personalities.
He can negate devil fruits because they come from the sea devils and the moon controls the sea
