What I like about rectangular envelope bags is that they can be both left or right hand zip just by flliping them over, and you never know for absolute sure which side of the tent you'll sleep on because sometimes there's a lump or an awkward hollow in the ground beneath where you have pitched.
Just thinking about the liner, if you turned it inside out would it flip the zip and hood orientation, then you'd have fleece inside, which might be cozy too.

Yes, they are good for that and I’ve got a summer rectangular bag I sometimes just use like a quilt.
Good idea about the liner, I’ll try that and see how it works, can’t see how it wouldn’t

    G'day, good video.
    Thanks for sharing.
Turn it inside out and the zip will swap sides.
    All the best.

I like the Snugpak kit. I've bought their Jungle blanket to try on this year's Euro trip, instead of a sleeping bag (will take a bag, just in case it is too cold or doesn't fit the bill)

Good gear…I’ve also got a lighter Snugpak Travelpak 2 for UK late spring, summer and early autumn use, but for hotter climates I have an ultralight Naturehike CW280 rectangular bag that can be used as a blanket and like it very much to just use as an over blanket in combination with silk liner to sleep in when needed but not the best for UK weather to be honest!

@@thecampingbiker791 I have a Rabb silk liner to use with the blanket as well. Hopefully it will work for late June in France and Germany. May just need the sleeping bag when we are in the Alps.

I have the original version of this, must of bought it around 97 after an exercise in Canada and it was getting down to -20º at night on the prairie. But also that year I bought my first ever proper sleeping bag and never looked back. I always use a liner, far easier to clean that than an expensive down sleeping bag, but its compacts down to the size of a coke can. My winter sleeping bag compacts down far smaller than the fleece liner you have there and only weighs 700g and I've been toastie in that down to -10º. It's defo always the thing I say to new campers, don't piss about with cheap sleeping bags you'll regret it the first night you get cold and they take up far to much space and weight.
