EPIC Urban Gravel | Do NOT Underestimate This Route! | BikeRadar Gravel Diaries Ep 04

- This video contains product placement from Genesis Bikes. In this episode of Gravel Diaries, we are going to be riding a lap of our city, Bristol, with as much off-road as possible. The route is 100km long, with 1200 meters of climbing.
This is an iconic route put together by BikeRadar’s good friend Katherine Moore. We’ll be chatting to her before we start about what to look out for en route.
Though we’re not near any mountains, this route is harder than you might expect. Both Robyn and Jack have attempted it on separate occasions, and had to abandon half way, though it is worth noting that both of these attempts were in the muddiest of winters.
We all live and work in Bristol and it’s a really great city. But today we are going to see it from a totally different perspective, and prove you don’t have to go far to reach a green spaces or to have an adventure.

What do you think of our loop? Does your city have a 360 challenge? Let us know in the comments!
Cool route!
The city I live in is WAY too big for a 360, but there are cool gravel loops that do a close enough job.
I'm in Brighton so there'd be a lot of swimming involved ...
Sheffield has plenty of woodland, parks, bridleways and byways to offer up an awesome gravel 360, without even getting into the peak proper. Get thee sens up thar.
Thanks for your suggestions!! It's got us thinking...
@@bikeradar Ask away if you want some suggestions for a Sheff loop. There's a lovely long woodland stretch that used to be part of my commute from Oughtibridge to Deepcar; not that far from where Steve Peat hosts his annual DH race in Greno Woods.
Robyn is fast becoming my favorite part of the channel. She is awesome. Well done guys.
Robyn loves nothing more than a good adventure, so expect many more from her in the future! Thanks for watching, from all at BikeRadar ⭐
My first bike was a gravel bike too but with now 4 bikes I would always choose my mtb for such routes.
I miss Jack and jo adventures 😢 ... some of my favourites
Don't worry - we still ride together all the time! It's like he never left sometimes, haha. Thanks for watching, Jack
But good to see the jumpy 'yee-owww' bit at the end is back and still going strong (i thought it had almost disappeared away a bit recently ...)
Yeah Joe, Jack and Reuben was the best trio. Good that bikeradar diaries is back
@@danielreynolds5012 This is noted!
Watching from the other side of the world. Reminds me of an Enid Blyton adventure (English countryside, the accents, politeness). Well done.
Exactly the kind of adventures we love! Thanks for watching, from all at BikeRadar ⭐
We have some good urban gravel in Cleveland, Ohio (USA). Lots of singletrack and abandoned roads near a river valley, so yeah, the climbing will get ya! Great vid chaps! My boy Jack not putting a foot down on the pebbly climb. Yea boyeeee!
We'd love to check that out! Thanks for watching, and don't inflate Jack's ego too much 🥲- Felix
i miss the old Jack Joe and Ruben days but i really like the current Jack Felix and Robyn dynamic, keep it up :)
Hey thanks for watching! Plenty more from the trio in the pipeline ⭐️
I got up and did the Northern 40 miles of this route yesterday. It was an amazing section. Too much rain previously to cross the river which wasn't a bad thing. It was fresh to say the least
Looks like a great day with great mates.
💯 thanks for watching!
This video brightened up my day! Thanks!
Thanks for watching! We have more BikeRadar Diaries in the making...
Finally bikeradar is back
Expect more Diaries soon! Cheers for watching ⭐
Awesome 360 route 💯
6:24 Felix was lucky he never lost his nadgers on that branch!
Superb stuff guys - great vid and editing. Looks like fun x3!!
BTW, @9:55, not sure about Jack's 'mud nugget'. Let's hope he washed his hands;)
Great vid as usual.
Did this route a week after you lot. It was drier and faster going. Still a good workout!
We skipped the Dundry descent and pushed sections of Queen Charlton bridleway. Hard-core isn't gravel🤣
Accidentally routed myself up the Queen Charlton byway once. Only once. Bloody nightmare.
It's certainly a climb you'd want to prepare for 😁 Great to hear from you! - Felix
Nice adventure
Thanks for watching! We've just got back from our next adventure in the Gravel Diaries series 🙌
@@bikeradar I am looking forward to watch It 👍🏻
Looks like you needed hardtail 29ers for some of your route in the video....Looked excellently non gravel in places though = fun.
Peterborough (UK) is great for 80% off-road for gravel bikes around the city in a 15 mile radius....fairly flat bridleways/byways/gravel/farm tracks and field edges but a 50 miler is easy (with not a lot of tarmac involved).
If anyone's from this area then Strava myself, Steve Hlinka (not a misspelt name either) for an idea.
Nothing says mates, like asking whether they are ok, whilst wetting yourself laughing at the same time. 😅
So true!! - Felix
Jack are you admitting that the steel rim brakes single speed aerobar bike isn't the superior tool for this route😂
Your gravel looks very different from mine. 🤔
🔥💎🧨❤️
What was Katherine riding?
I seem to remember from a podcast that she has a custom built Mercredi, but I may be talking a load of old mud nuggets. 😆
Bikes any good?
🙂👍❤️💪💯
Harry Potter??
