I'm going through exactly the same, had a back surgery 14months ago, ciatica got damaged so left leg is still at 80ish percent of strength and takes longer to recover, taking vitamins B1/6/12 for nerve recovering, swimming a lot, walking and ofc cycling, mostly enduro and DH, no issues at all, so yeah, he can do the Swiss Epic as long as he pays attention to his body
Wow love that Stoll bike awesome wheels no spokes! Love this segment and great to see what some people were riding. Hows that guy with all the cameras on him! 😎😃
dropper was a major mistake I feel for him, it was a game changer for me in the swiss alps before it I had to stop and change height all the time you can't do 20% uphills followed by 50% downhills at the same height
Really cool to see what normal people use for a race like this, it'd be sick if you could do this at similar level/national-level comps rather than focusing just on WC and top-flight stuff

My current bike is the sit down exercise bike in the gym a couple blocks away but at least I can walk. Last week I drove a fancy metal paddle boat around the lake while my parents went fishing. I needed the exercise and they cooked supper for me so it was a good trade.

@@55uniwegaI don’t know where you got that information but they are both Swiss. Just because Stoll is located very close to Germany (in Beringen, Schaffhausen), doesn‘t mean they are German ;)
I'm swiss never heard of ARC8..not that expensive actually well still 6-9000CHF around that but I expected more, never heard of STOLL but they are more in the line of what I expected 8-12000CHF they are very light for MTBs tough I mean my old 33-speed Canyon Racing 17 120mm (the erased from history swiss brand not the german one) is 14kgs and their lightest is 9.2Kgs that's road bike territory
Don't judge, but I really liked the wheels on that Stoll! They remind of the old wheels on 80's & 90's BMXs. Does anyone know the brand or what to google to find these? I just tried for 30mins and came back with nothing!
No judgement here! They look like the wheels that the Ghost Factory Racing Team run (both at least have just 6 spokes), which would make them from Bike Ahead Composites, but there may be other brands out there doing the same thing
I'm 51 years old and I feel myself a little bit old when riding my trek X Caliber 8, I'm seeing people here in this video 20 years older than me! Should I reconsider my feelings on my age? Geez!

Midlife crisis mountain bikers 🤣 And then they ride it once a week 😝 I ride my 5500 Euro Cube Stereo Hybrid every second day, 200 kilometers a week on trails and in the woods.
@@timw4369 if they can afford it without any extra effort why not? We are all living on different levels. Which is more sad for me you can hardly buy a proper full suspension bike under 3K.
@@winters3 No. This is a platinum version of model 3 dc. 10200g on their web. This wheelset is not the lightest either, about 1400g. So This bike is likely about 11kg (which is very good for a flight attendant + dropper). 9.4kg is the lightest version of this bike with no dropper, no flight attendant, lighter fork, lighter suspension and with absolute minimum amount of parts on it. There's no going down from 9kg without taking parts off. Below 9kg is doable, but it means thin nylon spoke carbon rims, absolute lightest suspension setup (fox 32 SL), no dropper, etc... It would be light but also quite fragile.
Some of this dude will throw bunch of expensive parts in their bike and they be like "this bike is soo good" without them knowing how to setup suspension etc., Money will buy you the good experience to the point you get used to it and can't blame the bike because it was top spec. Can't say my point properly ATM im eating a really good sausage and drinking really cold juice
Totally get you. We called them credit card builds when I worked retail. Somebody coming in and just buying the most expensive parts because they thought that expensive = better. Then you get some mish-mash of parts that don't work well cohesively. Not too bad on road bikes, but MTBs with suspension, wheels, brakes, gears all having to work well together on harsh terrain is a nightmare to troubleshoot and tune.
Blake- nice bike! What do you do for a living? Me- Uh…. I’m a pharmaceutical rep. Blake- which ones do you sell? Me- uhhh… I’d rather not say. I gotta go 😂

Those are "Bike Ahead, Biturbo" wheels, handmade in Germany
The diversity in the bikes is crazy in Australia it’s usually just the popular brands

Awesome to see how many South Africans can afford to get there with great equipment. With the exchange rate I can't even drive to the airport.

Surprised that the guys didn’t know about Stoll, ARC8 or Lynsky brands? Nice bikes though! The new Stoll Series 3 is a thing of beauty.
