Thanks, as always, for your alternative and additional view to Tim's. Visited Gibraltar a few years ago now, very much liked it there, probably due to the Britishness(!) I would not have minded too much overlooking the cemetery, I feel a somewhat moving experience with its historical significance. And last, but by no means least, seeing Thumps was great. He is certainly the icing on the cake when he features in a video.

Great vlog. Brought back lovely memories from when we went in April. We stayed in the Holiday Inn for 3 nights. We had a lovely meal on board the Sunborn & put this on our wish list for next time. We'll definitely be back.

Hi Gaby, Tim and thumps loved your vlog from lovely Gibraltar. I've been following Tim's blogs for a couple years now and thoroughly enjoy them. We were in Gib a couple of years ago when Tim was doing a vlog. Sorry to see that the beach was a bit rough. That's not usually the case but as you said there has been an enormous amount of building in the area . The road running along past the Holiday Inn is Devils Tower Road. All the buildings from and including the Hotel are all new. Also they built a tunnel under the airport runway from behind the beach to the other side of the airport which opened early in the spring of this year. The beach only opened again at the beginning of June. Some work still ongoing. We had to stay in the Holiday Inn for 3 days in June after a flight cancellation. We couldn't get another, you guest it, for 3 days.
Catalan bay. All the protests a couple of years ago were not only about the new Hotel project but the proposal of building a large marina including some housing and commercial properties.
As you can imagine, the noise the disruption and dust would be enormous.
I don't think anyone would want to use the beach, so small local businesses would suffer. This would be for at least a couple of years. Not a pleasant prospect.
The vessels out in Catalan bay is the aftermath of a ship collision in Gibraltar bay in 2022. One of the ships was seriously damaged and had to have oil pumped out of its hold to prevent it spilling into the sea. It was then towed round to Catalan bay, where more oil was pumped out. Because winter was approaching and rough weather was expected they decided to sink it to prevent it being blown up the beach.
During 2023 they have slowly been cutting it up into smaller sections so they can remove it on small barge platforms.
They're not having a lot luck in Catalan bay 😬😠

I'm with your Granny, I have always loved graveyards. My Grandparents lived on church grounds on Jersey, St Marys, Gran did the flowers for the church & Grandad dug graves, but when we stopped there every summer, I used to take myself off for a wonder around the graveyard.

Cheers for a nice vlog, really enjoyed. This for me was behind the scenes to Tim's channel and video from Gibraltar. Always heard nice things about this place and destination, I know its mainly a bed and breakfast or room only destination, would be really good if had all inclusive resorts, think it would be a winner. Has interesting attractions here I would love to visit and see, how long did you both stay for in total and how long would you say is enough time to enjoy relaxing, seeing sights and just staying around the area? I heard 3 to 4 days, would that sound about right? Or could people stay longer or shorter? Thinking on at some point in future making a visit. As after seeing Tim's video aswell other RUclipsrs content & hearing about destination from family, 100% somewhere on my list of destinations to experience in person aswell get photos & my own vlogs from. Would be really honestly disrespectful if they did build airport on where people were buried, think if you were to build somewhere, graves should be left well clear and alone, respect the dead. Same to the Holiday Inn. But I suppose, now you cannot move airport as that is built, but yeah should really have built it elsewhere I think, hoping no grave was moved, otherwise I think wrong call. Also, it is an interesting airport, one I would love to experience travelling through. Hotel looks interesting, great views of the rock and airport runway, plane spotters paradise, but yeah nice vlog, really enjoyed and look forward to seeing more in future. Cheers. 😀👍

I just found out that Gibraltar is British overseas territory. Has been symbol of British military strength commonly known as rock. People nationality there Gibraltarons . Located near southern most tip of Liberian peninsula at entrance to Mediterranean Sea . Gibraltar is famous for rock of Gibraltar. Gibraltar captured by British fleet in 1704 during war of Spanish succession. There are too willd monkeys only in Europe. Top attractions there rock of Gibraltar, great siege tunnels , upper rock nature reserve, Europe point light houses , Gibraltar botanic gardens , Gibraltar national museum, conservation park of wildlife. Both completely different if your wanted beach definitely Benidorm but Gibraltar is quirky
@@davidGPS95 You can go to Gibraltar and go to the spectacular Tarifa (Spain) beaches just 40 minutes away or just cross the border by walking to the eastern beaches of La Linea if you dont want to take a car
