Trimble Earthworks VCL File Creation In Trimble Business Center

In this video, SITECH Intermountain walks through how to create a VCL file in Trimble Business Center. A VCL file is a Trimble format that can be used to transfer data between Trimble Earthworks and Trimble Business Center. This can be useful for sharing designs with other users, or for backing up designs.
To create a VCL file, follow these steps:
1. Open Trimble Business Center.
2. In the navigation pane, expand the "Projects" folder.
3. Right-click on the project that you want to export and select "Export VCL File".
4. In the "Export VCL File" dialog box, specify a name and location for the VCL file.
5. Click "Export".
The VCL file will be created in the location that you specified. You can then import the VCL file into Trimble Earthworks to view or edit the design.
Here are some additional tips for creating VCL files:
* Only export the data that you need. You can select specific layers or objects to export.
* Compress the VCL file to reduce its size. This can make it easier to transfer the file over a network.
* Use a descriptive name for the VCL file. This will make it easier to identify the file later.

If you go to Surfaces Manager in Work Settings you can select a main surface and a reference surface for a maximum of 2 surfaces. It’s not as good as the way you can activate as many surfaces as you want and change colour of any surface you want in top con and also add you our infield design to your job file and active it as well to over lay it in, hopefully Trimble will look at some of those features from top con and add then eventually.

I agree, there are a lot of things I think about all the time as possible upgrades and feature needs as we go along. Any Ideas that come up or customers have we can submit them as upgrade requests. Earthworks is a great platform to add to and add to as time goes on. thanks for watching.
