At my facility we remove the ultra site valve prior to blood draw. Obtaining labs with valve on, can splits cells especially if one is collecting CBC sample.
This feels very inadequate. I don't feel that the drawing methods (push-pause versus agitating) are explained well. There's not a robust scrubbing of the hub is one of the most important parts, nor mention of how long. There's also a few ways to draw blood from a central line.

Don't you need to clamp it in between or no?
is this only good for drawing up blood into one tube ?
do i need to repeat the whole process if i have multiple tubes to fill?
Do we only use 10ml syringe?

Let's not forget to label the specimen tube with the patient's information as well..... smh.
