Brenton Wood’s biggest hit, “Gimme Little Sign”, hits #10 today and will peak at #9 next week. “I Had A Dream” peaked at #17 last week and falls to #44 today. This will be the Raiders’ highest charting song until their 1971 #1 hit, “Indian Reservation”.
As usual in 1967, there are a lot of well-known regulars dancing here today including: Pat Dickinson (0:12), Dave Cortez (in a vest at 0:17), Tracy Silver (0:34), Christy Schneider (0:27), Famous Hooks and Jenny Nichols (0:48), Maureen Cohen (with her teddy bear at 1:21), Robin Miller (2:15), DeeDee DelCampos (2:15), Theodosia Dayton (2:57), Don Sanuskar (3:22), Forrest Hutchins (3:29), and on the riser during “I Had A Dream” are Mike Langham, Pat Dickinson and Mark Reinglass.
In the news this week in 1967, last Monday, Oct. 2 - Thurgood Marshall was sworn is as the first African-American Supreme Court Justice. In Sports, next Saturday, Oct. 14, the NBA’s newest franchise, The Chicago Bulls, played their first game (105-90 loss to the Celtics…Michael Jordan was 4 years old, lol)
    ___________
In 1967 two great songs made it to the top 10 with the word “Gimme” in the title. “Gimme Little Sign” and “Gimme Some Lovin’”. RIP Spencer Davis.
In the U.S., please go VOTE and thank you for watching!

Gimme Little Sign, what an excellent slice of 60s Soul/Pop! To me, this song is easily a great example of the sound of the early 60s meets the late 60s in a nutshell. This screamed smash & now it's legendary. Maurice White of EWF even mentions the title in the bridge of "Let's Groove", one of my absolute faves by them!
I'm almost certain a Hip Hop producer sampled the intro break beat to I Had A Dream already. This is another great late 60s track & also quite different from what Paul & The Raiders were known for at that point. Laid back with a slight soulful undertone to it. Great song!
The dancing here was great! Everyone was into both songs. Of course I love seeing the regulars like Famous, Don, Robin & the rest of the crew. They really were the standouts at that time.
Aaron, this was a great one. Sometimes just giving us a segment at a time really lengthens the enjoyment, cuz we know, as you mentioned, the end is near. Just know that I will periodically watch all of my faves from you whenever that time comes & will leave little comments here & there. Continue to be safe & btw, I already voted. Be well friend!!!

Gimme a Little Sign was fairly popular in my neck of the woods. I remember hearing it on the radio. Can't say I'm too fond of the Raiders tune. The dancers look a bit flummoxed by it, but having fun! Saw the baby faced Don Sanuskar and always smiling Famous and Robin Miller. Frank must've been grounded for this show! 😄

"Gimme Little Sign" was a big hit in the NYC area on WMCA and WABC. Barely heard "I Had A Dream". Probably got very limited airplay in NYC.

@Brian Schienbein Just looked it up. "I Had A Dream" was played on WMCA NYC for 3 weeks in late August and early September 1967. It peaked at #36 on 9/13/67 before falling off the playlist the next week. It never reached WMCA's top 25 so it wasn't in heavy rotation. Never played on WABC.

I wasn't familiar with that Paul Revere and the Raiders song but it was a good one. The cameramen were having lots of fun filming the dancers with this '67 episode.
Gimme some kind of sign was one of songs that I never found to be boring. It was banging tune! Also, Brenton Wood made so much money from both Gimme some kind of sign and Uggum Buggum that it helped him put his wife through medical school.
