In 1969 I was in the Army and sometimes we would get a three day pass mostly for giving blood and I would fly home from Fort Bliss to the bay area in California to see my sweetheart , she would always ask in a funny way like the song "will you be staying after Sunday or go to the Army on Monday". This is a great song that will always last. PS..married to my sweetheart 50 years this June 4th.

@@saigonlawman68 I have something a little more meaningful to say than "Thank you for your service." I came of age between wars, and after the draft was ended. I never had to go to war, and for that I'm grateful. I've read a lot about the war in Vietnam, and seen two of the longer documentaries, and I'm especially grateful I didn't "see action" in *that* war.

Each decade will have a good and bad sound, but as long as you focus on your own personal taste in music, nothing can go wrong. A great year for music, yes, and better yet the Top 40 included a little bit of everything: Pop, Rock n Roll (including a little "acid" rock), vocal music (e.g., Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Bobby Vinton), a little bit of Country (Roy Clark, Glen Campbell), Motown, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, instrumental music (Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet), bubble-gum, gospel, and there was even a reggae song in the Top 40 that year ("Israelites" by Desmond Dekker). A complete musical education without turning the dial.

Wow, heard it today on a "true oldies station" . That was 1969? Because I was eight years old at that time and I distinctly remembered that song. Probably had not listened to it since 1969. Soft bubble gummish harmony, a bit fluffy too but a good song. Also the clothes and hair at the time were awful. I guess 1969 was a good year for music and being alive. That is, not so much if you were a male of draft age, possibly being sent to Nam to get your head blown off.

@mwngw and Kevin Osborne - That's true and good, but, it did have one flaw...there was 'so much' great music and 'so much' talent and competition that even the songs that charted low were great. There was so much of it and not enough radio stations to continually give it all airplay; no MTV; no VH-1; etc. For instance, this song in the US and Canada charted #21 and #7, respectively. This is great given the competition. With more radio stations, who knows. I have this album (vinyl), and, that's the only time I ever heard it until RUclips came along!? If the garbage of today can get passed-off as hits because of all the media, imagine how well great songs like this would have done given the same publicity!? It's a bummer, but, I grew up in a time where every song on an album was good or great...not just the one or 2 hits that the radio played all day.
