I remember staying awake specifically for this, and in the end, I don't know why, but I had some tears in my eyes knowing this is the future for many of us. I was in awe. Mikunopolis at AX 2011 was the first time I experienced my first vocaloid concert, and it made me want more.

So when some one did use vocaloid it sounded little bit robotic and had do a lot tuning. Also little bit ruff too. I use synthesizer v now because of help of AI the vocals sound human.
To believe she went from promoting veggie juice and leak onions, to a 2 city expo in America, to late night TV and now A FREAKIN WORLD TOUR. Hope she'll return to Nashville some day. But boy does Dave look awkward!!😂😂

Thank you so much for reposting this; In 2014 I couldn't go Miku Expo, which was upsetting because I was a *giant* fan of the live bands used in these concerts. Then literally one day I just checked the Mike expo site, and saw that Miku was going to be performing on the Late Show on October 8th, *my 18th birthday.* Considering that I was a huge fan of Letterman ever since 2012 (as my dad has been since the 80s), it was literally *The* best birthday present to see the live band MKP39 on my *favorite* late night talk show on my 18th birthday. It seriously meant a lot and still makes me smile whenever I remember that day. I absolutely *loved* David's reaction lol, Vocaloid is indeed the biggest "Wth" thing to see live without any prior context, but the work the live bands and music producers have done in the past 14 years has been endlessly inspiring, so seeing two of my favorite things combined made my day
When Dave tried to be hip with us Gen Z Vocaloid Weebs. I remember recording this, Seeing Miku preform at the Ed Suilivan Theater on the same stage as Elvis and The Beatles, iconic and great moment in Vocaloid History
Most people didn't understand that vocaloids are phonetic engines and were completely baffled why a live band is playing with some anime video. Dave seemed just as confused.

She's not a pop singer, she can sing all types (I love vocaloid metal personally) If it's an AI thing you don't like, Hatsune Miku and Cryptonloids (vocaloid produced by Crypton which are the widely used ones for games, shows, etc) aren't AI voices nor use AI. It sounds corny but they gave songs made by talented artists across the globe for people to relate too. Letterman should of done research about Miku before doing this, because it seems like no one has a clue and it makes her look bad in a way imo.
