the problem with Ava is that she never grew as a character. She's a snot-nosed brat that guilted everyone to her way of thinking and never earned her power. She was static throughout the game.
The reason why ava is the way she is for one she's a kid, most kids her age are obnoxious, two kids in general don't think the same way as adults do, and you also have to take in account that she's an orphan who lost here family and had to live as a stow away up until she met maya

I think the worst part about her character is how she gets Maya killed, then blames Lilith for some reason, and the game actually takes her side.

As a Maya main in BL2 I felt burning hatred towards Ava when she got Maya killed.

me and my friends have spoken SO much about the crappy storyline that we are convinced that we, three 16 year old girls, could have written the story better. Borderlands was one of the first games I ever played on console (along with black ops zombies) when I was younger and it was an utter disappointment to see something so amazing that got me into other videogames turn into the equivalent of a pile of rubble due to one shitty character, and other details that messed with the game

You only have to protect companions in Outer Worlds because their AI is so fucktarded, all they know how to do is commit suicide...and in Hard or Supernova mode, they're made of tissue paper.
On the one hand, OW companions are flat as pancakes and super fucking boring and lame...BUT...they are not as annoying as anyone or anything in BL3, so I guess they do technically win out.

It's interesting because Gearbox actually got this right last time around, on paper, Tiny Tina should have been MUCH more annoying than Ava, with her speech and "Lolrandom" nature.
but with Tina the humour was actually on point, and there was an underlying element of tragedy that contextualised it all,

Ciaran Smith Tiny Tina is a goat and deserves way more importance than this Ava little shit, it’s sucks that the game is probably gonna evolve around her in the future.
The assault on dragons keep really rounded out Tina's character. She uses her craziness as a shield from the memories of her shocking past and her new father/brother figure's death. The game showed you her pain and helped you understand how she got to be who she is.
Ava never shows that weakness, or really any connection point. It's so hard to empathize with her. BL3 implies what makes her tick is "I wanna be a siren vault hunter." Ok so does every kid in this universe with a zero poster on their bedroom wall. Why should we care about this one? We're never given an emotional reason.
As a character she doesn't have any depth compared to Tina.
Ngl a great part of why I love Tina is cause she is voiced by Ashly Burch. Tina never shifts the blame and isn’t always complaining. She just is the way she is, not a child pretending to be tough just to be tough.

Killed, for fun, by Handsome Jack - and then resurrected from death by the villainous entity inside of him that was practically the final boss of the Claptrap DLC. Claptrap fought his dark self for the sake of his friends. The friends who murdered him while laughing. And that dark being - Shadowtrap - gave his life to bring Claptrap back, albeit damaged mentally. Even if Claptrap is never again relevant, I will always remember when Claptrap was the misguided and betrayed hero of Borderlands. Fuck everyone who thinks Jack wasn't evil... tricking Claptrap into going through hell just to give Jack ultimate power over Hyperion and Pandora, then murdering him for a joke...

Hell, in Promethia, there was an ECHO recording of their troops setting fire to a bunch of refugee camps (and the refugees themselves) because they refused to leave for the ones they "provided" for a fee. What happened with Private Beans just added onto how little you should care about mowing them down in droves.

Borderlands 3 - 10/10 Gameplay, 3.5/10 Storyline
I haven't played the game but, from this video, what she needed was to be told off. Outside of maybe feeling guilty for the death, which didn't see happen as she blames Lilith, she didn't seem to receive any consequences. Hell if Maya named her as her successor, she would have gained Maya's powers. She was rewarded for the death. Someone needed to tell her that none of this would have happened if she had done what she was told and that it was her fault that Maya was dead.
If I could just listen to Zane’s dialogue and everyone else is silent, this game would be almost twice as good.

It's pretty obvious that they're gonna make Ava a Vault Hunter in 4, So they've created this character that is nearly universally hated by everyone who played the game, and now they're probably expecting us to play as her in the next game. As if Siren fans didn't have it bad enough with the two previous playable sirens dying for dumb reasons, now they gotta deal with Ava being a worse version of Maya until they make her eat a bullet (Which I would happily supply).

But yeah seems likely that GB intended to have “the brat” fill the role if there’s ever a fourth main instalment.
Guess I’ll just stick to my head canon of Tales’s Felix secretly cracking the Siren genetic code and implanted it into a fob watch, thus quietly turning Sasha into a 7th Siren by the end of TftBL.
If I could play as Ava I'd just load her up and first chance I got walk her off a cliff and then log off and play somebody else.

From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip of Freehold.
To be entirely honest I wouldn't be surprised if the "war" the watcher warned us about is just an abandoned concept never to be brought up or revisited.

I've collectively played 1300 hours of BL2 about 600 on PS3(only base game) and 700 on PC(with a the expansions).
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it was a serviceable story. The simple premise of: evil guy threatens with superweapon. Has been done already so many times. But where the game was at its best, was who they made handsome Jack not just a villan, but an actual well written character. Who's on a planet full of monsters psychopaths and corperations with their own goals and methods to achieve those. They could have made him a caracture, but instead he was a character. Also the Tiny tina dlc with her coming to terms with reality and working through her grief was by far the best.
Yup. Right after Ava and the Death of Maya I just stopped playing. Why play? They've managed to suck all the fun out of it. If they wanted to start with a clean slate then they should have started with a completely New Game instead of taking something everyone likes/loves and bastardizing it into something nobody recognizes.

If the writers actually made use of Maya's abilities from BL2, she wouldn't have died there. They seem to have completely ignored her siren powers for the sake of drama because they were too lazy to think of a way to kill her off legitimately.

I actualy like clap trap as you can tell what type of character he is supposed to be. He also has some depth and clearly suffers with some sort of depression as all of the other bots died everyone hates him and he was betrayed and left to die by what he thought was his freinds.
But avas character is just "ha ha I'm a disobedient teen who's gonna be a siren for vague badly explained reasons."

Removing the player character from all cutscenes and making the story about everyone but the player really killed any chance the story had of being enjoyable.
I was honestly so shocked at that. It's like they don't even know the character is there. They don't interact with them at all. Its stunning

This really took me out of the story. Theres a few times it can be explained but thats it, we just vanish in every cutscene. It would be just annoying if WE DIDNT HAVE A FUCKING SIREN. A Siren with powers ignored by the Calypso's, the main characters, the side characters.....oh wait no she isnt. In dialogue people DO react to it. BL3 is the perfect example of why Gearbox are great at gameplay and thats it.
@@Azazreal its even better when in multiplayer your character is still in the scene but isnt moving and everyone is just ignoring you.
I never completed that side quest and I never will because it relives me when i go farm traunt in athenas and listen to the echos to see her suffer.

And Vergil gets redeemed at the drop of a hat despite instigating the total destruction of the human race on two separate occasions
But yeah, let's just forget the blatant character assassinations because the game tries its damndest to make its characters look so gosh darn cool at all times
And furthermore, the game itself was largely inferior to the entry it was trying so desperately to mimic
