you missed the funnier part of jacks dialogue where he says something along the line of "stop painting tattoos on dead chicks and sending them in, there are only 6 sirens and the odds that you just ran into a dead one are pretty slim" not quite exactly the words but its been a while, just remember laughing every time he said the line
The entire echo log, ahem. "Oh, yeah, and since you shiver brains evidently don't know how to listen. I'll say it again: STOP BRINGING IN FAKE SIRENS. Only six Sirens can exist in the universe at any given time, and I already know of three. You're not gonna convince me you happened to find one of the remaining three just by drawing blue tattoos on some random chick's corpse. I will admit, it was mildly amusing you first dozen times you idiots tried it, but now my office smells like blood marker fumes. So quit it!"
I just realised, the fact that jack interacted with US so much was one of the many reasons he was such a good villain. He talked shit, he came to us. You could’ve had the opposite with the twins, they’re streamers, they have fans and forums. Imagine across the game being able to comment on their livestreams talking shit, literally being a hatewatcher.
That and maybe giving them more interesting personalities. Jack was a full blown psychopath but he had an air of charisma too him. The twins just weren't interesting, Troy is basically a side character and Tyreen just felt plain. Personally I would've liked if the story was initially just them being npc vault hunters while you're dealing with a full blown new corporate war only for them to swoop in and take the key, revealing they're sirens, and starting the whole finding Typhon stuff.
In Borderlands 3 the villains were Twitch streamers so in the next game the villains will be RUclips game reviewers but at the end the real villain will be the owner of a social media site named eHX.
Personally it felt like it was stealing from one of the books. In a book there was an evil female who had the psychos under her control and devastated the OG vault hunters, and she also raped Roland. Stuff from the books just kept popping in my head as I played the campaign
The craziest thing about the presequel is that the one dlc it did get is arguably the best DLC in any borderlands. That game is so underrated it’s criminal
claptastic voyage had such amazing environment and level design! The soundtrack was awesome and perfectly matched the atmosphere, really a one of a kind dlc experience
The pre sequel is my favorite of the series 2 is good and kreig is my favorite character of all time But the pre sequel had alot that stand out and gave the story to the broken hero jack
The one thing I can't forgive the authors is killing Lilith and Maya and giving us Ava in return. I mean killing Lilith AND Maya? What have I ever done to deserve this? And why isn't anyone at least a little bit sympathetic for the people of Elpis? Not even Lilith or Claptrap who have been there. Crappy writing! 😒
Lilith is just phasewalked into the moon, she has a chance of coming back and its a hint said by tanith saying she's lookin for the moon cause that's where lilith will be
I can defemd troy put off the two twins. They just dropped all potential with him when he was like turning against tyreen for like two seconds, then dropped all that when HE STILL GAVE HER POWER BEFORE DYING?? Troy could've started off as an annoying dumb streamer nockoff and then after his chat with you, got more defiant, did things on his own. Had more quipy dialogue with you, and the became a pretty good villain in the end by betraying tyreen and stealing her power
Honestly I could find the Troy redherring subplot an interesting subversion if they ACTUALLY played into it at ALL. Basically have him act like hes going to betray Tyreen, and even offering to change sides, only to lure you into a trap, much like aurelia did(A character who literally had NO BUSINESS being a villain in this game, by the way) "Did you vault thiefs seriously think I was gonna backstab my own sister?? Pfft I mean yeah we buttheads from time to time but of course we do, were SIBLINGS, that crap just comes with the territory."
I'll always be mad with this game because now that the Calypsos exist the writers can't use that idea again. the first male siren being a parasitic twin was such a baller idea and he just... died
@@sasaki999pro I honestly wished they went with him betraying Tyreen. The echo logs in Nekrotafeyo really made it seem like he held no grudge against Typhon and was reluctant to leave the planet with Tyreen. It would've been more interesting than Siren's having the ability to choose who to pass their powers onto which felt like it came out of no where.
I like Typhon DeLeon because he's exactly what I'd expect from a Pandoran. And also I like the idea of him as the template for future vault hunters. His feats are ridiculous. The future Vault Hunters also do ridiculous things. They save Mercenary Day. They deface Handsome Jack statues with a constructor. They try to impress Scooter's cousin with pizza. Vault Hunters are badasses and weirdos.
i kinda liked typhon because he had a weird wacky charm, he wasnt as badass or as cool, but i think he had potential. BL3 did squander that potential a little, but that didnt make me hate him. im not gonna say the things in this video are wrong, but i think everyone was being a little too critical after the last writer left. these things happen all the time and it usually means that the soul of a whole entire franchise gets washed away. but you cant have the hope of a whole entire game franchise riding on one single person all the time. its why scott cawthon gave fnaf to steel wool. its just that these AAA game companies dont wanna spend the extra money to keep the soul of these games alive. some people just have slightly unfair expectations and get disappointed when something with hype doesnt deliver. after years of excellence, it will eventually die down. it does in every franchise. just look at call of duty ffs
As someone who has loved Borderlands since the second game this is a great video😂 this is great quality man i hope your content gets more recognition 🙏
The twins should have been a two part fight where you start off facing both of them at once (maybe 3 phases where they tag team switch then double team you), then after one is beaten it goes to a cutscene where the one that is still alive betrays the defeated one and steals all their power. Would be so sick, and the final boss could be different depending on who you kill first.
For me most of the games just completly unplayable, I can't even do muktiplayer unless we all start from the main menu if I try joining a already started game it just crashes
One thing from Borderlands 4 I want is of course the extra skill tree dlc we got for Borderlands 3, and extra vault hunters. (And they need a better villain. A REAL VILLAIN)
What about a siren adjacent dude? Like he wouldn't generate his own energy but get it entirely from eridium, and he was locked in the supermassive black hole by the ancient eridians
i can't believe they went with the streamer thing, they really think we are the most normie gamers to ever exist and that we would digest that crappy story and jokes Makes me miss BL1 story, which is a nothing burger but at least it wasn't slop
Borerlands 3 is probably the most fun game i've ever played. With Bl2 i find myself getting bored in subsequent runs but every time I start a new run i LOVE it i love it so much
i just started uvhm on borderlands 2 and the story is far better than borderlands 3 but the gameplay doesnt compete, no build variety kinda sucks too and uvhm reliance on slag just blows and my god the speed at which u level up until uvhm is ridiculous, borderlands 8 would be out by time i hit max level....i got friends with maxed characters and they cant play with me on my level 56 because it makes enemies level 80.,....if borderlands 4 is a combo of 2 and 3 i think we will be happy, take the best from both
If there's one thing people can't diss BL3 for its having a better endgame. Needing to beat the same campaign 3 times in a row while having to deal with a mostly poorly balanced mode is an awful experience, I'm glad they got rid of slag.
BURCH WROTE GOW RAGNAROK? That's my favorite Story yet. Can't believe he was involved in my teen years' favorite franchise and my current favorite story.
ok the mission reward legendary was actually kind of hilarious. ill give you that one. I dont mind the legendary drop rates in BL3 at all simply because i dont play video games like i used to when BL first dropped, so i like getting useable guns during my playthrough and not having to farm my life for something on a game i play a couple of hours a week if im lucky. HOWEVER i was very sad they got rid of Pearls and other rarities, because on the off chance i had time to farm a god roll/pearl, id definitely like that challenge of something even more bad ass to be available with a bit of a grind. I dont think that appeasing the hardcore crowd should equate to punishing the casual group, and of course vice versa. i think 3s humor was on point at the most random of times, but the story itself really was lacking, course they robbed us of scooters death in the main games and other events that i had no clue of because i also didnt play battle for sanctuary as i had stopped playing bl2 by like 2015-2016 the latest. but yeah the games solid, but still has its rough areas. all aside good video dude!
just rough around the edges. it had potential that was wasted, but if the writers actually care about carrying a legacy and writing an actually good story, then BL4 might not be as much of a let down as everyones scared itll be, but its best to keep your hopes low. i dont think its gonna be a mind blowing game, but without the old writer on the team, it would be quite difficult to achieve that.
The issue with the drop rate is it almost made the Legendries into purples. Like they understood the dopamine rush of getting a legendary is good, but they didn't understand why. So they dropped them all the time and in turn made all the others less relevant. Especially since they didn't have pearls or an equivalent to take the legendaria's place When you go back to BL1, you can totally live comfortably with Purples and some blues. Legendries were a sometimes food and that's why it was exciting to get them (even if most were kinda mid) Also thank you for pointing out the rabid people who enjoy the CBT of TVHM shouldn't mean the rest of us need to suffer.
I remember when I first saw borderlands at the local video store... I never knew the game I rented because "cool mask guy" on the box, would have me captivated for 20+ years. Sure, I never started on one, but from the moment I got my first crit in the game and saw those numbers... I was never leaving until I saw ALL the numbers, and even then I'd have to be pried away from the game. I hope the next title is just as good as two was.
I think it would’ve been really cool if jack had a kid with a siren but he was the first siren male and he grew up to get revenge for you killing his father. Maybe I’m grasping at straws but handsome jack was just too good to just throw away.
I agree somewhat. His death should've built into something else. Commandant Steele dying built into the collapse of atlas and built into hyperion occupying the power vacuum left behind. Jack dying built into tales a little bit and then the villans from 3 just kinda appear from nowhere.
I love borderlands 2, but after going back to the first one, that’s my favorite atmosphere. It was so dark and gritty and just…idk tough. The writing was way darker that had comic relief instead of just dark humor all the time. I hope they bring back the writers from the first game if/when they make borderlands 4….but I’m going to wait for the reviews first. How they handled tiny Tina’s wonderlands doesn’t give me much hope….
It kinda reminds me of Saints Row in a way. Everyone loved the wacky stuff you could do in SR2, and forgetting the serious parts that balanced those out; like burying someone alive or mercy killing a friend. Add on to the fact the Playa is an absolute sociopath, maybe relatable at times, but not to be empathized with. Then for three, the serious stuff went away for Bing Bing Wahoo fun. Here, fight a gang of Luchadors, partake in a televised bloodsport cause Japanese wacky game shows amirite! And they just kept ramping it up until you're literally playing a side character trying to get the regular player character out of hell. And nothing else comes after that. I feel like the Borderlands games are fell into the same trap. People praised the occasional humor breaking up the bleekness of BL1 and BL2 is a lot more jokey with periods of seriousness. And people also liked big numbers so lets give them huge numbers. And for BL3 it's like "Well folks liked handsome jack, let's make two of them" and "Folks liked Legendries, so lets make that every second weapon". They just keep chasing the big things folks praised and completely lost the reason as to why or the other little parts that people liked.
It's wishful thinking but not addressing the impact and/or legacy of Handsome Jack in BL3 is clearly missed opportunity I get that probably they didn't want to write Handsome Jack forever but when you write such an iconic and important role character in a universe, its almost impossible to not have them ripple effects even after their death.
Except, they clearly WANTED to keep writing Jack. It's just, dude is Uber dead now, they did the whole bringing him back as a holo-ghost for Tales, they explored why he was totally justified for what he did in the Pre-sequel. There kinda wasn't anywhere for them to go with Jack. So they ended up taking the stand out parts; him calling you up to either make fun of or threaten you; being the villian who's seemingly above it all. But everything they took just left out all the supporting bits that made Jack Actually great.
Bro only 275 subs is crazy this is a great quality video and i can tell the passion and love u have for this bro keep up the great and hard work bro happy thanks giving
you should definitely play the dlcs for the story those gave, akso for the ppint abt vault hunters not being regular people im p sure in bl1s intro cutscene marcus talks abt telling children storries abt the vaukts making it make a little more sense why someone completely normal might try to hunt for a vault
What I primarily dislike about the villains: They seem to have gained some kind of omnipotence relatively early in the story, sucking people dry, stealing siren powers, effortlessly teleporting hordes of bandits across planets with the snap of a finger, turning important story characters into literal nonexistence, and magically kidnap others away without even being physically present. Suspension of disbelief goes a long way: But I can't disbelieve my way out of that. They are constantly commenting on how I keep killing their followers and sound totally pissed about it. Why am I, as their mass-murdering main source of problems, not simply snatched away and instakilled? Why do they not take the Sanctuary III and just phase it into a rock for funsies? Why are they not using their powers and get rid of the Crimson Raiders? There is NOTHING stopping them, and it's so painfully obvious. It's just story BS. Massive, gaping plot holes abound. I can get behind enemies with plot armour, but it's getting mighty uncomfortable when I'm seemingly the one wearing it. And no, I will not accept answers like "they were playing the big brain 5D chess because they want you to kill their followers for some super smart reason" -> no, they were NOT. No excuse for terrible writing. With Borderlands 2, there were several believeable reasons why Jack didn't just bombard you into oblivion: 1. Most of the time, he probably didn't even know exactly where you were. 2. He has no magic powers - he has a space station with a few mortars, which have to be adjusted precisely in order to deal damage to such a small target as you. Mortar strikes are also too costly to be fired on a whim. 3. Sanctuary was protected by a shield: The second it went down, he did rain hellfire on it. Then Lilith phased Sanctuary away, promising she could do it at any given point. Jack, unable to ascertain the veracity of her words as he knows exactly how powerful a cracked-out Siren can be, decided to fall for the bluff. There's simply no way he could possibly obliterate you the way the Calypsos can do, as he was just a dude with a giant corporation. And said corporation already gives you one helluva fight down on Pandora.
Jack was also smart in the way of teleportation that the twins had but never used like you said, we were in his daughter's chamber it's obvious he would have multiple ways in and he did and he used it perfectly, killing one of his main problems and kidnapping the strongest siren
Theres also more room for him not trying super hard to kill you before angel core. His goal is to wake the warrior and wipe pandora clean of all bandits. Leaving his biggest annoyance for the demon monster is more reasonable than them just doing nothing and evrfything at once
Honestly I can throw alot of shit at bl3, but the twins actually had a motive to keep the vault hunters fighting. They did it because conflict drives views. Thats it. They were super op and knew they'd win so they never felt in danger and used vault hunters for views all the game along. The problem is they never sold actually needing those views. The game started with the calipso twins just having entire planets following them so the motive doesn't work but it is explained in game why they have you kill their dudes. Heck they kill their dudes for views all the time. Oh and for your talking about why Jack didn't bombard you into oblivion, he actually tried to several times when he learnt where you were, very well made character.
The main thing I love about borderlands 3 is sheer amount of unique weapons, after grinding out so many different legendaries on 3 going back to borderlands 2 felt like there was barely any unique weapons. But I do have a problem with how easy it is to get mass amounts of legendaries on borderlands 3
I want at least 1 DLC vault hunter for BL4 just to spice things up but I do like how polished and how much variety each of the vault hunters in 3 had, 4 skill trees, different action skills, and skill augments were some of the best additions they've done.
youtube has been recomending this video to me for 5 fucking months or more on my front page like wtf. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW GOD IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED,, ME WATCHING THIS VIDEO ?!?!??!!
Anthony Burch runs a DND podcast called dungeons and daddies btw, he runs it with Freddy Wong even. If you enjoy bl1 and 2 writing then id check it out
My main gripe is the stuttering issues due to shader compilation on the PC version. I have a damn RTX 4070, a Ryzen 5 and an NVMe and I still suffer from it. Wonderlands barely had that issue.
Some day I'll finish a playthrough. And then someday I'll have to do on TVHM, heck damn. Can't I just skip to playing DLCs? Wish there was option to just skip over the whole damn terrible main campaign.
You can start a new playthrough and just skip into whichever dlc you want to start in. You'll be lvl 13 and in the dlc you pick... Plus you can literally start all the dlcs as soon as you get to sanctuary
and the fact that everyone's still playing borderlands 2 too. i loved the gameplay of borderlands 3. loved the hell out of it. and the sound design itched the musician in me just right. im not a critical person tho, only towards myself and towards groups of people and how they treat other people. i think the adhd in my silly brain just sees stuff like the twins and just tunes them out, which i think i kinda did. i paid attention to the story, but it was the gameplay that kept me going.
The thing is almost all the legendaries that world drop about 10-15% of them are actually good. Cough cough HELLWALKER. Most legendaries that are good you gotta farm them from dedicated sources.most of them you can get easily but then you have a gun like the blood starved beast where you have to farm one of the most annoying bosses in the game
The one thing i disagree with you on is Typhon. whilst he doesnt look and sound the part, the acts he does and his story is so well written its insane its still part of bl3.
The problem with TPS and BL3 is they went right past quirky and straight to cringe. With BL1 and BL2 there was enough serious to balance but with TPS and BL3 it was constant "LOL I'm so random" that I was making the Sideshow Bob steps on a rake noise every 5 minutes. And can we throw the brat out an airlock for the start of BL4 please? I'll buy day 1 if the first mission is a multiple choice kill the brat mission.
I love this game. I love the gameplay, the vault hunters, the voice acting, the DLC's. i despise the story, and finding out about the deleted scenes that make it phenomenal was painful to find out
I know it's more could have/would have/should have, but, man. The shtick that Typhon isn't the person that the legends build him up to be COULD have worked. They should have leaned into the false impression and had him look really cool and sound cool. Have the initial logs he makes be real and genuine feats he completed that he's genuinely proud of. But as you go deeper and deeper into the game, he starts sounding remorseful and confessing the legends aren't what they were cracked up to be. A monster he "effortlessly" beat, he actually lost a good friend in the fight. A treacherous landscape he crossed without injury? He got injured and supported by a local that helped him the rest of the way, together. Emphasize that lots of his adventures he couldn't do alone, that he had people he could rely on and a goal in mind. And every step where he was out of his depth, he had friends to keep him above water. The heart of the subversion is still there, while tying it back to the core theme that Vault Hunters are a collective that support each other. That way the Vault Hunter can feel a connection to him even before you meet and maybe it would actually mean something when he dies. Lilith's sacrifice also needs to make sense. There's no reason they couldn't have used all 3 Sirens in that scene and Amara too, since the Vault Hunters have negative amounts of relevance in the main story.
Personally I would love to see a remake of either BL1 or 2, Hell even TPS, in the BL3 engine. We get the good story and characters back, but while keeping the newer, smoother gameplay. Win-win.
I remember me and my friends beat borderlands 3 4 times back to back over like 2 weeks (2 characters each on level 50) and it was so much fun but the whole time we played we couldnt stop talking about how dissapointing the writing is. It really felt like they were setting up Tyreens Brother to betray her but then they just threw away the plot thread and made you kill her brother instead?
I just want them to get some professional writers in the room. Like huge names. Somebody who understands how to create humor through whimsy. Borderlands 1 succeeded by giving us colorful, whimsical, wild characters in an otherwise very bleak setting. Now that all of the characters and locations are so flavor-packed, it's giving me a stomach ache. There's no juxtaposition. There's no reprieve, or buildup to the comedy. It's a non-stop sitcom in a candy store of vibrancy and silliness. It's too much. Jack was so great because despite all of his dickish wiliness, he had clear and brutal goals. He had a believable backstory. A timid code jockey who buckled under pressure and grief in the scariest way. He might be a comical figure, but he's simultaneously a believable one that anybody with an ounce of self-awareness and ambition-- or just somebody who's faced loss-- could find a way to relate to, even if only in the smallest of ways. The twins are just mad that they had to live on a single planet during their childhood. Who can resonate with that? We're all stuck on Earth. I could not feel bad for them. I could not resonate with them. They're just tacky manifestations of humanity's greatest sins (ie Tyreen wants to be an all-powerful god-queen). I could've resonated with Troy's envy if he had revolted - we've likely all felt lesser-than at some point in our lives. But they went nowhere with that. They experienced loss too, sure, but you barely hear them talk about it. I don't think they show it affecting them in the same way that it affected Jack. IDK I'm rambling. I'm so goddamn disappointed. I can't shake the feeling that BL4 will not be better in the slightest.
in recent news, they made the borderlands movie and it was fucking horrible then they released a teaser for borderlands 4 that not many are excited for since the movie was crap
Me and my friend completed the game and brainstormed on how to make tyreen a bit and we concluded with one idea. Instead of making her "the bandit queen" twitch streamer, why not make her the "vault hunter" twitch streamer. Have her before joining the crimson raiders, be this siren who hunted vaults and live streamed her experience doing that, showcasing artifacts and showing her destroying the guardians. Shes the top streamer on the echonet and everyone loves her, even some of the characters you talk to. Then lilith shows up, lets her join the crimson raiders (because shes a siren and we need all sirens for the big war, shes experienced, and can be good PR for the raiders), and shes a constant character in the story. She starts off annoying, but then you work with her, you do quests with her, she shares guns with you, you give her guns, she shares story about her life and experience and let you be close to her. You could even have her interact with the characters in sanctuary wether it be - lilith keeping a leash on her and being neutral, - tannis annoyed by her constant streaming, - ellie being kind to her but tyreen disliking her because shes from pandora and was in a bandit family, - ava being a fangirl, - moxxie knowing her facade and figuring out what her real plans are, - marcus finding her annoyed but charmed (proabably because shes a customer and buys/sell guns like the VH), - claptrap being claptrap - maya hating her being that she treats her powers like its a toy and not being zen with it. You can have troy be the bandit leader of the COV and always be in your face like jack. "The pretty boy of bandits" as people call him. Then have the storyline be that everyone is trying to open the vaults up from the lowest of bandits to the highest of CEO executives. Then you find out that not only can they not open the vaults, but there is already someone who opened them up, killed the guardians, and taken the artifacts (or just killed the guardians). Now you have the mystery of whos really opening the vaults, with the main culprit being troy. Despite being the leader of some small order of bandits in the backwater planet of pandora, he somehow is able to have malawian dropships, dahl gunships, hyperion loaders, atlas tech, and jackobs guns. He somehow got artifacts of the vault and is able to manifest the powers of the vault despite not being a siren himself. So you continue finding vaults, killing COV, and SHOCKERS! Maya is kidnapped, the COV raided the ship using siren powers and took maya away. You are back on pandora, on a mad dash to save maya, all the while troy is about to use her for her powers and to open a special vault to become god. You face him and sadly before you can stop him, he killed maya. You are mad, filled with rage, taking troy down as the "final boss" and you did. You and the crew finally stopped the mad plans of troy until you and everyone else gets phaselocked, you turn around and only see tyreen, walking to get the powers of the destroyer be the new god queen. She was the one who helped troy, she was the one who made deals with malawian, She teleported the COV in the ship, She worked with aurellia (or some other CEO noble type because that was some serious character assassination), she let athenas be raided, she gave the powers to the COV, she was the one who raided the vaults, she knew that troy was gonna use her as a battery because he wanted be more than her lapdog, so she tricked him into getting maya. She always hated that princess of a siren. Now she has the power and will be the new god of the universe. She always felt weak when she was in nekradefayo, always hated her father keeping her safe and never able to use her powers. She hated troy and the bandits they joined up with. Always living in squalor, their true strengh hidden because of petty squabbles and dumb ideals. Her brother being nothing more than a parasite, always sucking up to the leader until he made his untimeley dimise by getting crushed by a "magical hydralic press". She wanted to be a streamer, to be admired by the lowley peasants across the universe; to not just be loved, but feared because of her powers. Thats why she admires the CEOs of the big gun manufacturers. Men and women with no powers and yet somehow able to wrap the world around their fingers. Like a certain handsome man back in the day. Now she has it, the power of the destroyer. And the war of the vaults has begun. All hail god queen tyreen, the destroyer. If thats not a good ass villain, i dont know what is.
254 hours on steam BL3 alone... not even counting when the game came out and i played it on ps4, almost religiously, STILL the amount of "chubby" enemies ive encountered i can count on a SINGLE HAND. Me and my friend both played BL3 when it came out, both cooped the story together and by the end of it i asked him, "Bro, didnt you think Troy should have had a little more, like a BIGGER boss battle out of him in the end would have been cool?" And he said "yeah, i liked him a lot actually, totally seemed like he was supposed to be the one who betrays." And i honestly feel like that just says it all there.
No video game villain will ever stand up to Handsome Jack. BL3 could've been perfect in every way, gameplay, mechanics, weapons, but it would never have Handsome Jack.
Its interesting to hear a fan of the series talk about the finished product of bl3, i was a day 1 player and it was a bad launch. The loot system was more akin to the presequel with a lack of dedicated sources, back then it was just grave ward farming. I think there is alot the game has to offer, with great high points, but i theres too much filler/crap to make it as replay-able as bl2
Honestly, that reminds me of that time when Mass Effect Andromeda was announced. I was giga hyped at that point, even though I had jurassic park era ancient PC that couldn't possibly play this game. Then I've got a new laptop, played through Andromeda after it got released and it was a giant disappointment as well
tbh i dont mind ava as much as others seem to. shes written like a kid bc she is one. id get how it could get under some peoples skin but tbh i just see her becoming leader and maturing and growing into her role. i think itd be really good character development. i get ppl bummed about lilith and maya but tbh i am sure theyll still be involved in some way, esp given the new tales game and the reviving crystal thing.
The only thing I didn’t like about BL3 was almost every single mission started and/or ended on going all the way back to sanctuary just to talk to Lilith. There’s no hate against Lilith as a character and no hate the the voice actress, but I played on ps4 and eventually on an ok pc, the story felt more like a loading screen hell with occasional funny banter from Zayne

Borderlands 2 has the best vault hunters imo. TPS can’t top it no matter what changes it has
I just realised, the fact that jack interacted with US so much was one of the many reasons he was such a good villain. He talked shit, he came to us.

It's gonna be you, you the customer are the villain because you want the bare minimum yet the writers keep failing.
congrats, you cracked the code of borderland's writing and story. I suggest you apply at gearbox (do they still exist?) for a senior writing position
@@themachoechidnaugandarandy7583Excuse me *_whaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!_*
you get to fight randy pitchford at the end of borderlands 4. he throws cards at you.
The fan base did the presequel dirty 😢
The pre sequel is my favorite of the series
2 is good and kreig is my favorite character of all time
But the pre sequel had alot that stand out and gave the story to the broken hero jack
the whole premise of TPS is space australians and it's honestly 10x times funnier than any 'joke' BL3 made.

That's a low bar, tho 😂
The one thing I can't forgive the authors is killing Lilith and Maya and giving us Ava in return. I mean killing Lilith AND Maya? What have I ever done to deserve this? And why isn't anyone at least a little bit sympathetic for the people of Elpis? Not even Lilith or Claptrap who have been there. Crappy writing! 😒
It's a looter shooter, story and characters are irrelevant
@@mathewhosier9739that’s not an excuse for horrible writing
@@mathewhosier9739yeah just think of borderlands 2
Lilith didn’t die, she just teleported
Basically have him act like hes going to betray Tyreen, and even offering to change sides, only to lure you into a trap, much like aurelia did(A character who literally had NO BUSINESS being a villain in this game, by the way)
"Did you vault thiefs seriously think I was gonna backstab my own sister??
To be fair typhon was originally going to be played by the trash man himself Danny Devito but be declined so they worked with what they had
Vault Hunters are badasses and weirdos.
even a lowly turd farmer can do great things.
i kinda liked typhon because he had a weird wacky charm, he wasnt as badass or as cool, but i think he had potential.
Typhon always gave me Frank from It's Always Sunny vibes and that's not a bad thing
As someone who has loved Borderlands since the second game this is a great video😂 this is great quality man i hope your content gets more recognition 🙏
'Preciate it, bro. This is just the motivation I needed
"since the 2nd one" hurts because Borderlands is still really good
The twins should have been a two part fight where you start off facing both of them at once (maybe 3 phases where they tag team switch then double team you), then after one is beaten it goes to a cutscene where the one that is still alive betrays the defeated one and steals all their power.
Would be so sick, and the final boss could be different depending on who you kill first.
I’ve played through this game over 20 and I’ve never realized typhon died until now
How?
Talking about visual overload, when I would play this game on the ps4 electric effects would freeze the console lol
For me most of the games just completly unplayable, I can't even do muktiplayer unless we all start from the main menu if I try joining a already started game it just crashes
Young single Amaras NEAR YOU ready to get PLOWED by mayhem 10 modifiers!
One thing from Borderlands 4 I want is of course the extra skill tree dlc we got for Borderlands 3, and extra vault hunters. (And they need a better villain. A REAL VILLAIN)
a villain that isn't "ooo hehehaha we're like social media influencers with a bad childhood WAHHH"
What about a siren adjacent dude? Like he wouldn't generate his own energy but get it entirely from eridium, and he was locked in the supermassive black hole by the ancient eridians
i can't believe they went with the streamer thing, they really think we are the most normie gamers to ever exist and that we would digest that crappy story and jokes
Makes me miss BL1 story, which is a nothing burger but at least it wasn't slop
Why didn't you just fast travel to the nearest checkpoint when you were stuck inside the minecart
Why were 90% of his negative video examples him jumping into sawblades and off cliffs?
Playing local multiplayer with friends is the best experience in borderlands
Typhon sounds like he works in the auction house in Orgrimmar
Borerlands 3 is probably the most fun game i've ever played. With Bl2 i find myself getting bored in subsequent runs but every time I start a new run i LOVE it i love it so much
i just started uvhm on borderlands 2 and the story is far better than borderlands 3 but the gameplay doesnt compete, no build variety kinda sucks too and uvhm reliance on slag just blows and my god the speed at which u level up until uvhm is ridiculous, borderlands 8 would be out by time i hit max level....i got friends with maxed characters and they cant play with me on my level 56 because it makes enemies level 80.,....if borderlands 4 is a combo of 2 and 3 i think we will be happy, take the best from both
Finally someone that doesn't suck off Borderlands 2.
THERE'S A DIALOGUE SKIPPING MOD!?!?!
aight i'm boutta reinstall
ok the mission reward legendary was actually kind of hilarious. ill give you that one.
I think the reason for some jokes being randomly funny is that the game just tells to many. Like it seems to never be serious... Ever.
just rough around the edges. it had potential that was wasted, but if the writers actually care about carrying a legacy and writing an actually good story, then BL4 might not be as much of a let down as everyones scared itll be, but its best to keep your hopes low. i dont think its gonna be a mind blowing game, but without the old writer on the team, it would be quite difficult to achieve that.
The issue with the drop rate is it almost made the Legendries into purples. Like they understood the dopamine rush of getting a legendary is good, but they didn't understand why. So they dropped them all the time and in turn made all the others less relevant. Especially since they didn't have pearls or an equivalent to take the legendaria's place
When you go back to BL1, you can totally live comfortably with Purples and some blues. Legendries were a sometimes food and that's why it was exciting to get them (even if most were kinda mid)
Also thank you for pointing out the rabid people who enjoy the CBT of TVHM shouldn't mean the rest of us need to suffer.

I just go through hell replaying the entire series with a group of my friends, and suddenly I get recommended this video? It must be fate.
Angel was Jack's kid tho
It's wishful thinking but not addressing the impact and/or legacy of Handsome Jack in BL3 is clearly missed opportunity
I get that probably they didn't want to write Handsome Jack forever but when you write such an iconic and important role character in a universe, its almost impossible to not have them ripple effects even after their death.
But everything they took just left out all the supporting bits that made Jack Actually great.
the quality of this video is stellar man keep it up

ikr? great video, but i thought that line was odd.
With Borderlands 2, there were several believeable reasons why Jack didn't just bombard you into oblivion:
It feels like cozy game devs got their hands on the borderlands 3 IP
We gonna have to talk about some of your takes on this. More vault hunters and neat and Ultimate Vault Hunter mode is crazy good
The main thing I love about borderlands 3 is sheer amount of unique weapons, after grinding out so many different legendaries on 3 going back to borderlands 2 felt like there was barely any unique weapons.

Some day I'll finish a playthrough. And then someday I'll have to do on TVHM, heck damn. Can't I just skip to playing DLCs? Wish there was option to just skip over the whole damn terrible main campaign.
TVHM doesnt do anything. just finish campaing and play the dlcs
I loved the main campaign, definitely the best game In terms of loot and skill trees
dont do tvhm unless you really want to, it is completely optional
You can start a new playthrough and just skip into whichever dlc you want to start in. You'll be lvl 13 and in the dlc you pick... Plus you can literally start all the dlcs as soon as you get to sanctuary
You actually can do that now. You can start a dlc with a new playthrough and set the start level to 13 or something.
Funny you bring up the "assassinate the assassins" side quest. Totally ignored in bl3🙄
The only reason why I wanted more vault hunter dlc is bcz I didnt click at all with neither of the ones we have
and the fact that everyone's still playing borderlands 2 too. i loved the gameplay of borderlands 3. loved the hell out of it. and the sound design itched the musician in me just right. im not a critical person tho, only towards myself and towards groups of people and how they treat other people. i think the adhd in my silly brain just sees stuff like the twins and just tunes them out, which i think i kinda did. i paid attention to the story, but it was the gameplay that kept me going.

There better not be any Scott the woz slander, man’s a gem
I have 4 days game time. I can’t remember a single time I had fun playing bl3, it’s such a slog
It really seemed like they turned Legendries into purples basically and shifted everything down.
The one thing i disagree with you on is Typhon. whilst he doesnt look and sound the part, the acts he does and his story is so well written its insane its still part of bl3.
great video production!
THANK YOU RUclips RECOMMENDED
Its been a week that I started to replay all borderlands game, I'm at bl2 at the moment
love this video essay
Sorry why can I not call this a video essay?
The problem with TPS and BL3 is they went right past quirky and straight to cringe. With BL1 and BL2 there was enough serious to balance but with TPS and BL3 it was constant "LOL I'm so random" that I was making the Sideshow Bob steps on a rake noise every 5 minutes. And can we throw the brat out an airlock for the start of BL4 please? I'll buy day 1 if the first mission is a multiple choice kill the brat mission.
Except these are looter shooters, story and characters are irrelevant in this genre, bl3 has the best loot and shooting mechanics in the franchise
i found buff to be a super underrated character that i came across randomly, he had funny dialogue
Borderlands is its own category of game, but completely priceless.
i love borderlands 3 and i think tiny tinas was actually tons of fun, i just wish there was more.
Gearbox is like well we've done something shitty
I think its time to make new borderlands
I love this game. I love the gameplay, the vault hunters, the voice acting, the DLC's. i despise the story, and finding out about the deleted scenes that make it phenomenal was painful to find out
The orphanage part I can slide but the puppies😂
I actually bought the upgraded version pre-order, I don’t regret it but it was a bad decision
Win-win.
borderlands 3 end game be like
nah lol
I remember me and my friends beat borderlands 3 4 times back to back over like 2 weeks (2 characters each on level 50) and it was so much fun but the whole time we played we couldnt stop talking about how dissapointing the writing is. It really felt like they were setting up Tyreens Brother to betray her but then they just threw away the plot thread and made you kill her brother instead?
Can't wait for "Plays Borderlands 4 Once" now.
Really good video.
You could even have her interact with the characters in sanctuary wether it be
- lilith keeping a leash on her and being neutral,
- tannis annoyed by her constant streaming,
- ellie being kind to her but tyreen disliking her because shes from pandora and was in a bandit family,
- ava being a fangirl,
- moxxie knowing her facade and figuring out what her real plans are,
- marcus finding her annoyed but charmed (proabably because shes a customer and buys/sell guns like the VH),
- claptrap being claptrap
- maya hating her being that she treats her powers like its a toy and not being zen with it.
She was the one who helped troy, she was the one who made deals with malawian,
She teleported the COV in the ship,
She worked with aurellia (or some other CEO noble type because that was some serious character assassination), she let athenas be raided, she gave the powers to the COV, she was the one who raided the vaults, she knew that troy was gonna use her as a battery because he wanted be more than her lapdog, so she tricked him into getting maya.
Me and my friend both played BL3 when it came out, both cooped the story together and by the end of it i asked him, "Bro, didnt you think Troy should have had a little more, like a BIGGER boss battle out of him in the end would have been cool?"
And he said "yeah, i liked him a lot actually, totally seemed like he was supposed to be the one who betrays." And i honestly feel like that just says it all there.
i just started playing borderlands 3 3 weeks ago and finished last night, it was fun ngl, it was free last may 2022 on epic game store
I think there is alot the game has to offer, with great high points, but i theres too much filler/crap to make it as replay-able as bl2
that thumbnail is amazing
I always wonder if typhon is the first vault hunter then his older than Marcus dad?
Honestly, that reminds me of that time when Mass Effect Andromeda was announced. I was giga hyped at that point, even though I had jurassic park era ancient PC that couldn't possibly play this game. Then I've got a new laptop, played through Andromeda after it got released and it was a giant disappointment as well
played bl3 once got Amara to 72 transported my save over to ps5 and the save got corrupted never touched it again leveling is a pain in the ass
Have you seen my gun?
HEYOOOO!
tbh i dont mind ava as much as others seem to. shes written like a kid bc she is one. id get how it could get under some peoples skin but tbh i just see her becoming leader and maturing and growing into her role. i think itd be really good character development. i get ppl bummed about lilith and maya but tbh i am sure theyll still be involved in some way, esp given the new tales game and the reviving crystal thing.
They just had to give Typhon the most annoying voice possible to accompany his "never shutting the fuck up" dialogue
