    I know another commenter already mentioned this but these videos are definitely scratching an itch I didn't know I needed: Sims and politics. Also, your dry wit is fantastic 🤌🏻

    That LWT blew my mind! I really like the idea of a coop mobile home park. Corporate ownership of residential land is the worst!

    $940 ground rent a month on a *mobile home*? i started watching all happy to see a new video from you but i’m now gazing into the abyss!!! i’m just buying my first flat in the uk (600ft two bed, we don’t have the space in london) that’s a leasehold so we don’t own the land it’s on, and the ground rent to the landowner is £940 a *year*.
    love your building and social commentary. it’s really interesting and makes me think about why i personally rarely build aspirationally in the sims 4 (which is what i tend to play) but did in other games. perhaps just being over 30 now means i have a more realistic idea of what living costs are than i did aged 10 and don’t want to give my sims lifestyles they can’t afford, when it used to be that the repo man came round every other day and i didn’t care.
    really love these builds - and good luck with your journey out of renting!!

    • @Ada_Sims
      @Ada_Sims  8 месяцев назад +5

      Yes - $940/month for a glorified parking space and that was not even the most expensive land lease I saw around here (some were over $1,300/month). We do have an abundance of square footage in the US, our housing issues are more a matter of who has legal ownership of it. I'm also over 30 and definitely play the game differently now than I did as a kid as well. I used to draw layouts for sim mansions in class and plan out who needed to be killed off in the neighborhood. Now I do. . . this stuff. But anyway, thanks for watching and may your happiness grow, but your ground rent stay exactly the same! (or shrink, why not dream big)

    Amen to that rising tide! In our apartment we strung up fairy lights to bring more light into the front room. They're quite inexpensive and a lot of them come with remotes to give you control over colour & strobing.

    ohhh i had one of those tiny sink hookup washing machines for three years and i loved that thing. highly recommend!!
    the brand that made mine seems to not exist anymore, but it worked honestly better than any full sized washing machine ive had. very smalls loads of laundry of course (i think mine could handle about 8lbs of dry clothes) but i could wash a queen sized fitted sheet in there by itself. and having clean socks/underwear/etc in between laundromat trips was wonderful.

      @Ada_Sims to be honest im looking at them now and they seem to have gotten cheaper! mine was $240 back in 2020 and im seeing some pretty good looking ones online for $180-210. id advise against the "twin tub" kind, where you have to switch it over to a spin basket (since youre also trying to simplify your cleaning routine).
      ive been living in rentals for a decade now, usually really weird ones where you have to do a lot of tweaking to make things work for you and tbh id love to talk to you as much as youd like about your specific issues with your place. i like troubleshooting things like this. lemme know!

    Always enjoy your commentary. Good luck with making your space fit you better. I'm mostly stuck to a room that acts as a suite for me and every day is working towards keeping my space as fitting to me as possible because I too am crushed by it not being able to experience homeownership. For me though that constant state of working on my space is what makes it feel better to be in. Knowing that there are still projects and possibilities for me to shape my environment regardless of what that may be. Some fun stuff I've done for example though is lighting. Ive added decorative lighting and used some color changing bulbs that can be adjusted with an app. Being able to set the lighting color, or dim the brightness helps transform the feel of the space. And if your more ambitious and crafty, I take every opportunity to build or at least customize my furniture. Function and fun always fits better if u can design your furniture and make it yourself. Or at the very least flip/modify second hand stuff. Happy 2024

    Absolutely love the build. It reminds me of the lots I used to build when my sim husbands were cheating on their wives. Something I've done to make cleaning less frustrating is to buy glass Tupperware. While the starting cost is more expensive, food lasts longer and the containers are easier to clean. Happy 2024 and keep up the great content.

    I think you really undersell your opinion. You have some very deep knowledge about the game series and also a unique or at least more rare type of commentary and edit that I think many people enjoy.
    I still wonder why your economy video got loved by the algorithm but your rags to riches not, despite both being absolut top notch content.

    • @Ada_Sims
      @Ada_Sims  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I might talk more about TS4 eventually, but I haven't spent enough time in it to give it a fair shake on its own rather than just comparing to the earlier generations and I know it's a lot of folks' first entry to the series so I don't want to be unfairly negative. As far as the algorithm goes - it's a big mystery to me. I have my own pet theories about its inner workings, but I hear often that it rewards consistent uploads and this is just a hobby for me, so my uploads are certainly not consistent.

    • @malik740
      @malik740 8 месяцев назад

      @@Ada_Sims At this point im 99% certain no single person even at Google understands how the algorithm truly works haha.
      But on the other hand I have no really opinion or knowledge on the entry title thing but just from my guessing I have the feeling that its balanced as the older folks mostly played 1 and 2 , and younger end more 3 or 4 so it really depends on age demographics.
      Anyway, I think your recent videos have explored Ideas no one really did before even tho they had similiar conclusions or general ideas.
      Especially the tie in to reality as most sims content usually explores the... more unrealistic things.
      And again , the commentary is golden sometimes haha , my favorite line is still 'the feminine urge to talk about capitalism' I use it often

    Great video! I'm inspired to take a shot at a mobile home park in sims 4! One thing I've noticed make a HUGE impact on the rooms in my home is changing up the lighting. Add lamps and use those instead of harsh or bright overheads. Even moving lamps to new spots in the room completely changes the vibe!

      The mobile home park Juno Birch did in TS4 is a cool build - have you seen that video yet? Definitely more dystopian and chaotic than my little co-op park here, but entertaining nonetheless

    This lot looks pretty cool and really builds on the Sims 3 base game trailer lot in Sunset Valley. I always found it odd that no one else had a trailer-type home in town and this would make a nice addition to a ton of worlds.

    Happy New Year! I really enjoyed this video as always, relaxing and educational :)
    For the apartment tips, I rent in Japan right now so my experience might be quite different but my main tricks to a better apartment:
    Indirect lighting to fix your light situation. It softens up and cozies a room a lot more than overhead. Maybe some of those electrical candles? I think they're very cozy.
    For laundry, I don't know what you could do about washing, but we started drying things on our balcony and found it was a lot more effective than we thought, so if you have anything like that available give it a shot
    Also buying second-hand in general is my number one tip. It's not exactly revolutionary but I realized buying older furniture from second hand I could get higher quality objects than buying something new at the same price point today. I started going to local markets and not just checking online spaces, and it was cheaper + more variety! And you get some connection to your local community. So I really recommend that asw. Also, it's really nice to give love to some older objects!
    I hope some of that helps! Looking forward to your next video!

    • @Ada_Sims
      @Ada_Sims  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for the tips and kind words! Electrical candles would be perfect since most of our outlets are spoken for already. And I totally agree on second hand furniture - I've moved around a lot over the past decade, but now that I'm staying put, it's been really nice to have time to just wait and find the right piece of second hand furniture instead of getting the first/cheapest thing I can find on craigslist or at target/ikea/etc.

    • @_niconiconii
      @_niconiconii 8 месяцев назад

      @@Ada_Sims Yes for sure, I always regret it when I get something cheap from IKEA or similar, it always degrades in quality so quickly.
      Btw I forgot to say thanks for explaining how to do apartments in Sims 3, I never figured that out and was wanting to do a For Rent sort of thing in Sims 3 (felt a bit of Sims 4 envy when I heard about it tbh haha)

    We were watching this, and when you mentioned looking at mobile homes, Dylan said, “Wait! Does she know about lot rent for mobile homes and the fact that you can’t get a regular mortgage?” I scoffed and said, “It’s Ada. Give her a minute.” Sure enough!
    As an elder millennial, I just squeaked into the homeowners club, but now we’re faced with the necessity of selling a home in a lower price (ahem, transphobic redneck hellhole) region, and either buying in a higher price region or renting a space large enough for 5 humans, a dog, 4 cats, a large tortoise, 2 gerbils, a bunch of fish, and 150 orchids and bonsai (thank you, Dylan). Long story short: the US housing market is indeed a dystopian nightmare. Yay!

      Very much rooting for you guys to move back to the west coast. But, logistically - how does that work? I've moved from CA to PA and back with a dog and then TX to CA with Tim's two cats. Dog was fine (Fyo is an angel) but the cats - not so much. Can't imagine four cats plus the rest of your brood, even spread across two cars. A tour bus maybe?
