You have such good dry wit. It’s a shame that by the end your financial goal ultimately eclipsed any remaining fun factor in playing the game itself, because otherwise I think this is such a lovely biopic into The Sims, and the beauty of just how wacky it gets. It really captures that whimsy of playing dolls, and constructing the wildest stories- complete with sudden tragedies, wiping the slate clean by killing half of the cast. A whimsy you totally lean into as you construct your story, and quip about how the characters are feeling in a given moment. All that to say, really fun video, really fun to watch. I’d be excited to see you continue this premise throughout the rest of the games, and see how they all compare. Take your time, of course. The saddest thing would be for the games to lose their charm and luster due to forced obligation. Anyways! Congratulations on the new job, cheers!
A non-exhaustive list of things that made me laugh in surprise: Tiffany being a serial toilet clogger, Jerry turning into a balding middle-aged doctor, the Wheel of Employment and the Jupiter Hymn with the in memoriam to Elden
All of us at some stage will find ourselves driven to despair by gnome economics. It's just a sad, inevitable part of life that we each have to find our own way to overcome. Well done with all the references etc in the description by the way.
What a lovely narration you offer here. You reminded me just how dang ruthless the Sims 1 was lol. This actually got me to decide to try rags to riches in the sims 4. If you think you'd enjoy it, I'd be super interested in seeing you do Rags to Riches in the Sims 2, 3 or 4. Either way, thanks for a fun narration and playthrough.
Your channel is going to blow up; you’re amazing! Your video comparison of the economics of the four games blew me away and I was so excited to see you shared another one!
It was bedtime, so I shut down the game I was playing.... but then I spent 45 minutes watching you play a game. Now it's 3am and I'm tired, but I like you.
Great video! It was really gratifying to see your first attempt was successful (pre-fire) without the genie lamp. The starting pay really does make all the difference in the beginning. I love playing hardship challenges in Sims 2 (Apocalypse, Poverty, etc) but I'm pretty sure I would fail Rags to Riches in Sims 1. Kudos to you, but what a grind toward end! I'm glad Annie ended up how she did, despite losing Eldon. I've always liked Eldon Hicks. I lol'd so hard at Tiffany!
Yesterday I started playing Sims 1 again, for the first time since 2007 maybe, now without any money cheats, and man it's a whole different game lol. I've also been vegan my entire adult life, so I connected with you on that one. I laughed for the most part of the video so you have a new follower here. Great content!
I really enjoy your content and personality, this and your sims 2 video inspired me to do my own rags to riches in sims 2, and ive been having a great time
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of these. Seeing the Sims 1 again took me back and I ended up booting it up. Still the best soundtrack out of all four games.
love this! and your commentary. I completely forgot about the soap opera set and recording studio. this brought back so many memories. OG sims came with my grandoms dell computer and she gave it to me and I've been addicted to the sims every since. great vid!
This was such a great video! You explored a ton of what The Sims 1 has to offer, which was especially cool to see as someone who has never played the original game. I appreciate all the time you put towards this and am looking forward to future installments :)
Oh. My. God. I died laughing and also had terrible flashbacks to my very first Sims 1 game Christmas 2001. I had been dying to get my hands on this game, spent ages crafting my characters, Rob and Kate Dagbert, only to have Kate immediately set fire to their kitchen and kill them both…I very well may have gone home that night and cried while playing “Angel” on the cassette compilation I made of Sarah McLachlan songs recorded from the radio…
I just remember watching you play and thinking there could be nothing greater than a video game in which the characters regularly pee themselves and cry about it.
Yeah the sims can be infuriating because whenever you reach the top of any career track your sim can just become bored of their job and cycle to a different career track, you infinitely cycle them.
So, I got Sims 1 to work and started one of these, although after watching yours, I'm not shooting for §100K. So far it's been overkill grinding just trying to reach the top of a career, so I'm making building a house similar to yours and topping a career my end goal. After 68 game days, my sim Ragena Richards currently sits with a net worth of §18428 and is a Flight Officer (Level 6) in Military. I'm trying to get her into Culinary Arts as an excuse to play around with gardening and pantries and such, but it hasn't come up. I totally lucked out getting Military initially, but I've only had one windfall of §400 because she's always at work when the phone rings and it isn't a crank. Was worried the first day because her carpool didn't come until 5am Tuesday, but thankfully she didn't starve, and with her first §250 paycheck she got a phone, end table, recliner and a pizza! She ate pizza for 32 days. Military afforded me the luxury to ignore the genie and magic stuff, except I did use the hole to go to Magic Town, and it turned out having the unopened box of magic goodies on the lot totally tanked the Room score so I did not get promoted for over 30 days until I finally tried putting the box contents into her inventory, and then the room score went up significantly - lol, what a waste! Even with high-quality objects I'm still spending most of my time raising motives to get decent job performance (between fixing broken sinks and spraying cockroaches, ugh!). And the phone is practically useless for Social; even friends are crabby and rude and refuse to talk most of the time. Ragena has had 3 friends and lost 2, and that's when I called it quits for now. Another tactical error probably was not taking days off to skill and make friends (she's only missed 3 days of work, and those were unintentional), so that's what I'll do the next time I visit her lot. Also, I started on a §3500 lot, so I would be behind if I was going for a monetary goal, but I suppose the bills are less, so maybe it evens out. Anyway, thanks for posting such a great video and inspiring me to play Sims 1 for the first time in 20 years. (I've pretty consistently played Sims 2 for that long.) I think you're right that Sims 1 is more fun exploring all the fun features rather than trying to make things difficult, which is a little more fun and less repetitive in the later, easier games.
Glad you got back into TS1! Yeah the friend requirements were the hardest part. I don't remember if I spoke to it in the video but, like you said, chatting on the phone is pointless. Did more harm than good for me most of the time. I just ended up going downtown a lot and having multiple people over for dinner nearly every night - an introvert's nightmare.
Man, old Maxis games make me so dang happy! Great video! You're Hilarious as well. As a nuclear security guard, I wanna say we're not all rent-a-cops, some of us are rent-a-national-guardsmen thank you very much :)
absolutely love the editing; it's just so engaging and having all the little graphics keeps me interested in what's gonna happen next. ts1 looks so hard. the tiffany toilet is so grotesque,,, i love that for her though. burnie living up to his name and leaving a trail of flames in his wake is metal as fuck and also super sad. rest in peace to all the sims lost.
I watch this video at least once a week if not more. It's one of my favorites youtube. Your translating of the the events that happen in the game into humor is amazing, and no matter how many times I watch this video, I always lose it at "a chess player would never." The set up and pay off of that joke is perfection really. I loved your sims 2 video as well, and I can't wait for part 2!
so nostalgic, I loved the dragons too when I played this as a kid, but I also got rid of them when they kept bur ing my house down! looking forward to the next part! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! Your commentary is top-notch, with all the added jokes and timing especially about all the misfortunes that befell poor Annie and Annie2 😂 Great gameplay, too!
That was such a fun video to watch, I got so invested in the story! I played the Sims 1 the most but I didn't know about half of the things you did, now I want to play again :D I can't wait to see The Sims 2, it is my fav ❤
This makes me want to play sims 1 again. I started a household once with 7 kids, no money and a dad and it was miserable but so much fun at the same time
Happy New Year. Thank you for sharing this. It is one of the most entertaining Let's Plays i have seen in years. To watch you playing the old Sims game made me a bit nostalgic. I am eager for the next one. The Sims 2 is always full of drama and fun. (please excuse my bad english)
Once you get enough simoleons, build a wall at least 2 spaces the first night. Place two fans or one ancient placard on each side of the wall. Your SIM will cry and beg you to take it away. Ignore him. The next day sell the decorations and these two items will increase in value. The more walls you have the more you will earn each morning. This is the one Sims 1 hack I know.
Sims 3: Get a dog, train it to hunt, cut the tiberium it finds in the home gem cutter, grow the crystals and dust into large tiberium gems, put them up on consignment. You are now wealthy beyond measure.
It's a newer laptop but I haven't had any problems with 1 (TS2 is another story) and I don't have to use any specific compatibility mode - no idea if that would fly with a Mac though. And obviously, if you don't have a CD drive you would have to install the game through . . . other means.
ok fine, I'll play the sims again.
Tiffany constantly clogging your toilet is killing me 😭😭
I can’t stop laughing at ‘that means another clogged toilet’ followed up that goofy trumpet noise sims 1 is fucking hilarious
@@FeechLaMannas 🤣 Sims 1 sound effects are the best

Watching this as a person named Vera was an emotional roller coaster.
Sims 1 is the Dark Souls of The Sims games

The pursuit of wealth, to fame, to magic, to journalism is the common denominator of every NPR correspondent. 16/10
Then I predict Steve Inskeep is gonna get really into making gnomes in a few years or so

the storyline was genuinely so engaging + the "ui" you added to track progress is so cool!!

i don't usually get this entertained while watching the sims gameplay! I truly love your sense of humor
“The poor pay more” is so well portrayed by the early days of sims rags to riches. Wow I never realised that. Thank you!
comfy sims watch, entertaining af
Freckle reference!? Wow, love caleb galo series too :)
this made me want to play the sims 1 (i grew up on sims 2) 😭😭😭 but idk if im up for the tediousness of it

And straight to ebay to find Sims 1
I wanna play it

I vaguely remember kids have an interaction that always gives a huge boost to friendships. I remember using them for all my friendships way back when

Dragons are the cutest pets in Sims 1. I love the way they eat your garden.
this was such a fun video and I love that real life comparisons you made throughout
this is really fun and well edited!!!
I watch this video at least once a week if not more. It's one of my favorites youtube. I hope you continue to make videos!❤
This makes me want to play sims 1 again. I started a household once with 7 kids, no money and a dad and it was miserable but so much fun at the same time
Annie..... was not OK.
This was a great video! TS1 is such a gem and I really enjoyed your commentary. I'd forgotten what menaces those dragons were.
WTF at The Sims 1 forcing you to randomly change careers.
The Sims AND Twin Peaks in the same video? This was so cool.
Why does this video have only 11k views, it deserves a lot more!
Thanks for this content Ada:)
I would happily watch you do a Lets-Play series in Sims 1 or 2.
So much work in this video! Really enjoyed it
Wow, I didn't know the game had that many extensions! The only one I had was House Party, I believe; the one with hay bales and dance cages.
I love your sims videos so much. This was such a great story
I really enjoyed this video! Please keep making these!
i absolutely love content like this and i feel like it’s just so personable. i love the sims and will be watching all of the videos you have posted !
WHERE'S ANNIE!? 😂😢
the first Sims game is so difficult to play yet has so much fun
DANG you have no idea how genuinely upset I was when Elden tragically passed😭😂 Burnie will never be forgiven.
This made me actually laugh out loud several times. loved it
Cannot wait to see the Sims 2 version of this :D
Happy New Year. Thank you for sharing this. It is one of the most entertaining Let's Plays i have seen in years. To watch you playing the old Sims game made me a bit nostalgic. I am eager for the next one. The Sims 2 is always full of drama and fun. (please excuse my bad english)
If you had deleted the social worker, the baby would have reset 😊 fun fact for next time
This video was super fun to watch. I really enjoy your story telling! :)
new favorite channel
The algorithm has brought me to yet another banger of a video
What a journey! Makes me wish in a small way that I'd tried a few times with no money cheats haha.

your videos are so good!!!!
Sims 3: Get a dog, train it to hunt, cut the tiberium it finds in the home gem cutter, grow the crystals and dust into large tiberium gems, put them up on consignment. You are now wealthy beyond measure.
I really enjoy watching, keep the good work
This was beautiful

This was fantastic!
I just finished the rags to riches challenge in Sims 1 today. Can you please do one for Sims 2?

I miss the sims 1!!! How are you running it? Is it an older computer?
It's a newer laptop but I haven't had any problems with 1 (TS2 is another story) and I don't have to use any specific compatibility mode - no idea if that would fly with a Mac though. And obviously, if you don't have a CD drive you would have to install the game through . . . other means.
wow i love this video
👏👏👏👏

Hello
welp, i think i've found my new sims youtuber after i lost interest in lilsimsie and plumbella
