There is no cure for death. Only release. You must destroy the sorcery that is now poisoning Nosgoth. Only then will you realize peace. The Nine as the Protectors of Hope were sworn to use their powers to preserve our world. Now these pillars have been corrupted by a traitor.
The production, and presentation values are better than sum triple A games. This shit has so much love poured into it, it could be a Burning Man. ( Talking about the opening. The game itself needs work, but it is early access.)
Game looks amazing and I don't often get into the indie games that he shows on the channel. I'll wait with patient optimism that this game continues to improve.
Listen to her last Line " And Kill King Arthur, and what ever he has become..." That tells you all you need to know. Either Arthur became corrupted by something that followed him back from death as they tried to save him and took his body, or a part of him important to keep him noble was lost. Either way something rotten now walks as the once and future King.
The story/lore is definitely quite cool, don't know how I feel about the gameplay, would have to see more of it. I'm honestly more interested in the story than the gameplay right now, will see how it reviews at launch.
Splatty you should do 3 or 5 more videos on this game to show more of a feel of what they got going here. The trailer is dope and I'd love to see more gameplay
NeoCore also developed the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing titles (which I love). Pretty sure the voice actor for Mordred was used for Van Helsing in those titles.
Master splattacat: martial arts master of the art of "smak-uhyu": form 3, way of a life rethought. A martial art so powerful it forces ones opponents to entirely rethink there life choices.
It is said that jonas sulk the inventor of both the polio shot and the entire field of vaccines was going to be vetrinarian before he lost at a duel facing a smak-uhyu master.
Well, in short, that, was, awesome ! The intro yeah but the world building in general and the usual cheekiness of the commentary, a pair made in heaven...or...Avalon I guess then. Good stuff as always, thanks Splatt'
So, back in 2000 (or was it 2001?) I was part of an acting troupe that did the living chessboard at the local Renn fair back when I lived in Gainesville FL. I got the role of Sir Gaheris (you know, the guy who killed mommy for infidelity). The "evil" side was split into 3 factions, color coded as black/grey, black/blue, and black/purple. The good side was largely united behind Arthur. The greys served under one of Mordred's generals (I think in our case it was Maleagant), Blues served Mordred directly, and the Purples served under Lady Morganna. As Gaheris, I was one of the Greys. So the events/storyline are scripted, but the fights are not. We choreograph/improvise our own fights, but the only script is who's supposed to win the fight. Actors are given a point A, a B, and it's up to us to figure out how to connect them. We also did a few non-chessboard street scenes around the fair. I had auditioned for the role of Tristan, so it's kind of ironic that in the opening ambush/gauntlet, I end up clashing blades with Tristan (we used carbon steel blunts) and sucker punching him to bring him down, hold him at sword point while the leaders have a bit of negotiation and agree to a chess battle. So, on the chessboard, first round of three for the day, I was to capture a piece that was basically Sir Kay's wife, who was portrayed as some French princess wielding a quarterstaff. My weapon set was longsword and a long dagger (not quite a messer). So the end of our fight has me putting Kay's wife into a sleeper hold while taunting Kay, and meanwhile I've got Mordred screaming in my face to just kill her. (serioualy, I got some spittle in my beard). Mordy gets bored, and just tells me to drop her. I flourish a bow to Kay as two of our scrubs drag her unconscious body to our side of the board as a captured piece. Last fight is another semi-open skirmish, and I get cut down by Sir Gawain. Merlin resurrects everyone for reasons, and then Mordred and Arthur have a final confrontation. Ah, good times. Does this relate to the game in any way shape or form? NOPE! But Arthurian lore is pretty fun.
Nice observation around the 18 minute mark. So many games just have combatants hitting each other full force. There's no real parrying, blocking, dodging, or that build-up to landing a real blow that matters.
I have watched many videos by this guy for years. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen use moves that have a status effect (like bleed, vulnerability, stun, etc,.)instead of straight striking.
I don't know what to make of the story from what we've seen here. It makes Mordred the protagonist and Arthur the villain when everything from the intro suggested it was and should still be the opposite. Like, Arthur (and apparently a bunch of other knights) are suddenly evil for some reason and magic and Mordred is the one that caused all these problems to begin with, so he's brought back to... fix them? It just doesn't seem to make sense, which is unfortunate cause the rest of the game seems solid.
I'm assuming Arthur died and while they successfully brought him back, something was wrong with him. Either he was corrupted or part of his soul never came back or dying and coming back just made him insane, or his rage at his wife and best friend's affair, betrayal of his son/nephew Mordred, finally overtook with being killed and brought back being the last straw. So now this rot that is now The Once and Future King needs to be dealt with. If they follow the lore Arthur is essentially immortal if he has the Scabbard of Excalibur yet somehow Mordred wounded him mortally, so in desperation The Lady of The Lake brings Mordred back hoping he can do the impossible again and kill this thing that was once Arthur.
@@RequiemPoete Pretty sure Arthur lost the scabbard at some point or it was stolen, which is why Arthur was able to be killed. Also, even if Arthur did go batshit after being brought back, there are still other, much better options left.
@@rhawkas2637 Well we don't know how batshit Arthur has gone, nor do we have much of an idea yet just how strong he personally is not his forces. Plus there could always be prophesy involved that links Mordred and Arthur. I think the story has potential if fleshed out properly.
i would love to see you play a divinity original sin 2 lets play. yes.. on you tube. i dont watch twitch so.. but ye.. i miss when you did lets plays back in the days.
Sir Mordred. You must bring Balance to the world. Slay the Circle of Nine.... Oh sorry. Just got HUGE Blood Omen Legacy of Kain vibes from this. Vae Victus!!
HOLY SHIT this looks amazing also its weird how the tales written so many hundred years ago still inspire ppl to make new narrations xD also wasnt kaye the dude who was basically the asshole at the table ... it least he was the one taunting iwein and making fun of him because he had yet to embark on his quest to prove his worth
Your right, Kay was like Arthur's adopted brother who picked on him when they were kids because Kay's father was their lord and Arthur was an orphan. And then Kay was an ass to pretty much all the knights because he wasn't as cool as he thought he was but still loyal to Arthur since they grew up together, so this is a very interesting position to put him in following Mordred.
If I recall, the reason Arthur was unkillable was because the Scabbard of Excalibur protects you from all weapons. But I think during his final battle with Mordred the Scabbard was stolen and he was given a fake.
Visually helmet design looks a lot like his other than maybe color, video intro it seems that both are capable of controlling some kind of undead. And top of that name sounds very similar to his. It really reminds me of that one guy from my favorite expansion. I bet you know what i'm talking about.
I'll be honest, the dialogue and the choices/actions of basically everyone seem to be all over the place -- I can't tell if they're "good" or "evil" or if they like each other, you basically taunt Kay and the second knight says something about "your dark court" and joins you...
I 'think' what they're going for is that Arthur wasn't the same since they healed/resserected him after his and Mordred's battle, and something needs to be done so desperately that they'll help you, because you're the less evil option in this world gone to shit. Plus as Mordred's is known to be dead, perhaps they recognize the Mark of The Lady of Fate on you from your return and they trust her judgement enough to swallow their hatred of you to kill the rot that became of The Once and Future King.
So many things that date from The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing. Even that voice actor sounds like the one from the said game. Does the ongoing development of this game mean that they are done with Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor? Will there be a third game, and later one Final Cut definitive edition?
hopefully this game cleanses arthur of evil possession etc. or i will think:yes, yes,as your new favorite dev squad we promise to take every heroic figure you ever admired and twist them all into complete PsOS that will give you all crippling depression and feelings of worthlessness.bow before our vileness! having mordred as the hero to start with i must admit i'm having my doubts about these same devs...prove me wrong devs, please! go splat go!
The day you were born, the very forests of Lordaeron whispered the name, Arthas. My child. I watched you with pride, as you grew into a weapon.
Of righteousness.

Love the immediate doubt of it being an indie title
I mean the opening cinematic man... Lol.
It is actually indie. the original King Arthur wargames were sponsored by Paradox, but this one is made entirely by the neocore studio.
Holy shit that intro was some LotR level shit. Also, Splattercat was a little too ready to play as Mordred lol.
I'm getting huge Legacy of Kain vibes from this.
"Throne is not eternal, sexy half-naked lake lady is forever."
-Splat, words of culture, whispers of truth.
When everyone is an unstoppable badass, no one is an unstoppable badass.
(watches the intro) So.... your playing as Mordred then? that's new
Yeah I just assumed you would be playing Arthur, surprised me as well. Very interesting setup for a game... Might have to buy it myself.
I'm kinda glad you're Mordred since the premise was so dark.... either way I'm interested!
Dark Age of Camelot vibes.
Listen to her last Line " And Kill King Arthur, and what ever he has become..." That tells you all you need to know. Either Arthur became corrupted by something that followed him back from death as they tried to save him and took his body, or a part of him important to keep him noble was lost. @@BluBlazer It also emphasizes whom I assume is The Lady of Fate's desperation that she brought back Mordred of all people to fix this.
The story/lore is definitely quite cool, don't know how I feel about the gameplay, would have to see more of it. I'm honestly more interested in the story than the gameplay right now, will see how it reviews at launch.

Holy hell! That intro was one of the best I’ve ever seen, AAA or indie.
That opening was super great. Makes me want to see more or maybe play it. And the voice acting is really good
This looks heavily inspired by the amazing film, Excalibur. That is an aesthetic I adore!

I too feel called out.
hahaha nice one xD
Same lol
"Noooo not the butthole Sir Mordred, noooo!" Fucking gold.
Holy shit!! Alert Markiplier, the dread knight Sir Mordred was The Crazed Butt Stabber all along!
So, basically X-Com, but with knights. I like the idea. Not sure about overall style, but will definetly keep an eye on this game.
The man in the beginning looked like overlord from the overlord game
His armor is campy af, I hope they could change it
Guy wearing a full plate armor covered in spikes is a hero and a good guy 100% of the time!
That opening was sick.
2021 and people with a passion about knights still don`t know how plate and swords work...
or that a spikes all over your helmet stops blows deflecting off
If I wanted hyper realism I also wouldn't have a health system. Most of these injuries would be if not lethal, than certainly crippling.
already had this on my wishlist, glad your doing a quick walkthrough of early access thank you

Rare form today Splatty, I was laughing out loud a lot. Little too Grimdark for my tastes, but I do love a good turn-based strategy
Arthurian with a twist? Gimme! That intro was definitely hype AF.
Maybe Mordredian?
