In these kind of scenarios, people should be on a list and be told their performance is being monitored closely. If at the end of 2 months only a little changes, they have justification in being fired. It also gives them time to look for other opportunities.
If you fire 900 people it has nothing to do with the performance of the employees. It is about the performance of the company. The CEO should be honest about that and not make it sound like the employees are deficient. The employees should be laid off not fired. I once worked for a firm that had lost its main client after the death of a principal. They downsized in stages and in the first stages pretended like they were firing people for deficient performance. They fired them instead of laying them off. It makes a world of difference to those employees in terms of self esteem and in terms of getting a new job. Eventually they laid off other people but admitted the firm was going under. It was very unfair to the first employees they put down and fired.
I would say all the fired employees together should start a company and compete with his showing him middle finger. 900 is a huge number. You all can do it.
Considering they were laid off for a lack of performance they probably won't do anything. They better find another company where they would work in the same fashion. OR... maybe it was a good wake-up call and they'll start working honestly for the next employer.

This happens everyday in the US... the only difference between this and other sudden firings/laid-offs is this was on Zoom and recorded. Where I worked, over a 20 year period, 3 times the company laid off hundreds of my co-workers each time, many because they want to ship the work to India. The last time it laid-off over 270 people. Of course it is sudden. There are no warnings. Last week, the company said it was making millions of dollars in revenue, today you come into work and is told to go to a meeting. In the meeting, they tell everyone in the meeting you're laid-off and to pack your stuff (under supervision in case you steal or sabotage company stuff) and leave the premise within an hour. You are escorted out. Companies don't treat employees like human beings. Employees are just a number to them. Let them stay when they're needed and kick them out like a thief when they're no longer needed.
B Vang, this is very common now. Nothing to complain about. That is why every employee must know they are dispensable. They lost their job for no productivity. Many of them were working 2 hours per day.
When an employee resigns fairly they want that person to give a notice one month prior, and still they hold the salary for 2 months after resigning..
But when a employer fires , they do it without any notice , why is this injustice?
Why isnt the government coming up with laws to arrest or atleast fine those companies heavily who does immediate firing without a period notice..Such corporate bosses must be jailed with longer jailtimes and be fined heavily, coz ur not firing only a employee, ur messing the structure of a family, ur disabling the family of paying the bills, promises made to their kids, rents, bills, future trips, EMI's etc..

This type of leader is not needed in society.
"LOVE UR JOB ..
NOT UR COMPANY ..
BECAUSE U NEVER KNOW WHEN UR COMPANY STOP LOVING YOU "- 🇮🇳 Indian Best President...
@@ArtemLokhovitskiy Apparently all the people that were fired Were a part of the diversity and inclusion team
@Razvan them and people who got jobs through them that were subpar. Hired just to be woke.
Cruel Indeed. That CEO should be pulled to court on how he handle human resources. He should be firstly fired and with his salary certainly you can save 100 employees' jobs
Only the board of directors of a company can oust a CEO.
Hahahaha
Wait. This doesn’t make sense. He claims to feel emotion during the Zoom call but then had that follow up email? Lol Wow.
What were you expecting? "I was so looking forward to get rid of you lot" something like that !
That was old email
He has to say why he fired them in a more fleshed out explanation. And to the public
Such a lack of respect for those who have made you who you are. Without your employees your company couldn’t exist. You even made it about you - that’s my definition of narcissism.
This is pretty normal in America.
The other way its done is they gather us into a room and then the boss walks in and says your jobs have been affected...
The marketing Company I worked at for 3 years would always fire people just before Thanksgiving and then again just before Christmas. This happened all 3 years that I worked there and it caused Bit of stress in some of my coworkers every year.
I eventually was purged out of there and I'm glad it happened.
Brave man!
Exactly! I don’t know why Palki makes such a big deal of it. Even big companies do it when they buy over other companies. Happens all the time
I wish someone who lost the job starts a new company and hires this guy, that would be fun.
That would be the best revenge
@Prathamesh Adsul That is not a solution, this would only increase legal actions and with the money this guy has those who have kidnapped him would be surely sentenced. Their are other ways through which the CEO will have to accept the demands of people who were fired
"This is not leadership, it is bullying"...... Yeah!
I was in this meeting. Fun times. I was in training for 15 days.
HOW YOU ARE DOiN KNOW?
You dodged a bullet there! They layed you off while u were in training lmao.. Imagine the disaster working in such a shitty organisation!
So sorry abt that. Damn
did most of the people who got fired on training ?
if so he is scamming people !
he/company get people to work as a trainee so that they don't have to pay full amount and not give other benefits and stuff then they just let go of the people and get a new set and repeat
this is easy to do because of the virus and that people are working from home
if this is the case you can get the people together and go to the "U.S. Department of Labor"
Same has already happened with me during my first Job in😂😂😂. Before this incident i was thinking about loyalty towards the company for long time. But this incident changed my perspective
!!!
This guy is certainly not CEO material. Just a joker. Let the employees take legal action.
This man treats employees like they're slaves. He's a toxic man. Someone must treat him the way he treats his employees.
Never forget....What goes around...comes around !!!
Karma is a MotherF...er !!
CEO told the attendees , whoever part of the that zoom call was fired. So logically he should fire himself first.. Worst CEO of the decade 😬
A CEO of a company reports to the organization's board of directors. Only the board of directors of a company can oust a CEO.
@@RaymondHng what is there is no board of directors then😂
@@EternalScreams You obviously do not know corporate law. In order to be a legal corporation upon startup that can be registered with a state and in order to have a public offering of stock to shareholders (investors) or to be a charitable non-profit that solicits funds from donors, it is mandatory by law that there be corporate structure and corporate governance under a board of directors. Typical duties of boards of directors include:
• governing the organization by establishing broad policies and setting out strategic objectives;
• selecting, appointing, supporting and reviewing the performance of the chief executive;
• terminating the chief executive;
• ensuring the availability of adequate financial resources;
• approving annual budgets;
• accounting to the stakeholders for the organization's performance;
• setting the salaries, compensation and benefits of senior management
The CEO of this company was hired by a board of directors.
Not unusual they have been doing this for over 70 to 100 years but will die the same as anyone else.
You think bullying is illegal in US. Most leadership here bully people and this guy did it directly. Many leaders game the system and they know their drill to do it diplomatically. My employer laid me off when my kid was just 4 months old cutting down my insurance and benefits on the sane day coz they are a big company in Boston.
Are you afraid to name the company that fired you.
Usually they give 2 week's notice
@@Komal_US no they don't. They can fire you immediately but must pay the 2 weeks salary instead.
@@bandarusrinath4646 He still needs a reference from that manager in order to be able to apply for an another job..
@@ayeaye1363 so does is mean he can't name the company out. It is fear or is it against the corporate law.
I see a coward man. He relied on the boundaries of this modern media frenzy after the pandemic to avoid facing human emotion and provide dignity to his employees.
He will never have any loyal employee working for him.
At 15 minutes per meeting individually equals 225 hours or roughly one month. Hard to claim efficiency and productivity with that much time waste just to avoid being called names by strangers like yourself. I'd call that cowardice. But hey, maybe you're in his shoes so you can judge...
Oh, and if he's not using today's media but instead had a face to face to save them dignity he would be costing them time and money instead at a point not good for them. Your critique sounds less considerate.
Or that he gained free publicity...
With most work carried out in the digital environment, this is the fastest way to fire a group of people without meeting them. Technology has removed the personal touch the previous generation enjoyed. Now it is all about profits and CCTV monitoring of employees , no privacy , no personal touch, strangers working for someone up the ladder that no one sees or knows.
When US talk about Human rights, it should also begin from US itself, starting with corporate in the US. This truly violates human rights of respect for man.
This is terrible, aren't there any laws to prevent this?
@@she_wizzdom4410 No. there are laws. But it isnt followed n to take them to court will be expensive . Not worth. Just go find another job. Thats all. Unless you are in civil service. Private sector is boss' game.
Making millions of dollars in revenue? Do you even know what you said? You sell revenue,you don’t make it. Making profit or earning profit is the term.
An employee should always be like a bird that has trust in it's wings and not in the branch
Very true!
This man under the influence of his ego and anxiety, has fired these employees without thinking anything about their future.. Humanity is above all professional relations and profession as well.
Do you spent all 8 working hours on work assignment? Or spent time on internet on business hours.
Do u think there is "humanity" in Capitalism?

Palki is the only journalist that I love to listen to for all that's going on in our world. She is such a superb journalist and every word she says is BANG ON and to the point. Extremely logical, unbiased and undoubtedly the best journalist I have ever come across in my 36 years of life. Great going Palki.... Keep going :-)
I agree. Telling people they no longer have a job is the most painful thing I have had to do & it happened twice. About 40 both times (face to face).
Especially because I knew that they were unlikely to find another.
Boycott this bully
The cruelty and apathy of the CEO are of sub-human level.
Karma on its way
Exactly he didn't seem genuinely sad or anything like she said .... Plus he is doing this the second time .... Should be easier this time around I syppose
I was being threatened to be terminated by a Associated Director in an outsourcing E-commerce company (Near Marol Naka, Andheri) while I was on Notice Period. She's not the associate director there anymore, left after 3 month I had. This is a recurring trait in most managers and upper management these days.
Your DP might have good backstory. I'm interested to know why you kept that DP, if that's fine with you.
Yeah do tell us !
He did it! Didn’t cry or anything. I am so proud of how this girlie man toughened up
He stayed strong...
Fire 900 employees and the CEO takes a bigger pay check.
@Ramesh Ranjan he could care less. He just moves to another company.
This happened a lot in Singapore. My friend, went to the office one morning, got a call without warning and she was laid off effective immediately. Employers do this to avoid retaliation from employees.
Typical mentality of people who will beg for chance for success but once get a chance will show the true face. No need for Indian fellows to be proud of Indian expat success.
Dumb dolphins? This guy is nothing but an unenlightened bully. Hope he understands karma is real and the Universe/ Divine sees all.
Are you a CEO of any companie
@@blamegravityforme Are you? And do you or the gentleman in question know anything about the intelligence level of dolphins or the present environmental scenario or basic human values and ethics to make such statements?
The company had three exe's resign over the way he handled the layoffs. With his actions, he probably sabotaged their sales worse than the ones he laid off.
He treats his employees like trash
I still don't get why people call others dolphins as a insult. Dolphins are suppose to be very intelligent aren't they?
Same way don't use dog too
Not him saying he “cried” during the first time he laid ppl off. But as someone rightly pointed out…. He didn’t take personal pay cut from his own million dollar salary so that his staff could survive. Lol and he said he cried??? LOL what a hypocrite
you forgot the point where he mentioned that he fired people with poor work performance
He is good at acting. Must be laughing behind the scenes.

If that's the case, I'll join my union, why worry about being fired when I can prepare and delay the inevitable
